Attaching JPG files

I've searched but I am not finding the answer. How do I send an attached JPG or other pic file without the image itself being embedded or visible in the body of the email? This should be easy, but I am embarrased to say I cannot find out how to do this. I do this all the time on my work PC.

Jim,
You need not be embarrassed. However, what you are concerned about, is a needless (useless) concern, if the JPEG (or other photo files) are being attached, by normal means. What appears as embedding to you, is not, but rather is only what is called View in Place, and only applies to how you see the message.
Whether the recipients sees the photos with View in Place (or also called Inline View), is not under your control. It is totally under the control of the recipient's email program -- some, such as Thunderbird, have a preference as to whether to permit View Inline, but again this is not under the control of the Sender.
For best result, place all attachments AFTER any text, and do no typing after they are attached. Also, for some Windows email clients, such as Outlook Express and Outlook, it is probably best to send using Plain Text and not Rich Text. With all attachments following text, this will mesh best with all types of email clients used by the recipients. In certain situation, RTF, together with mixed fonts and attachments, is converted to HTML, and the recipient may see the attachments as "embedded", whether they are in the strictest sense, or not. but this is limited only to certain email programs, as noted above.
Ask any questions, or provide any additional info that may be useful.

  • Can't attach .jpg files to my e-mail messages

    I have tried to attach .jpg files to my e-mail messages but nothing happens. I have no trouble attaching .doc files. I have never had this problem before buying this MacBook a few weeks ago, and I can't figure out what to do about it. Does anyone know how to rectify this? Thanks.

    I have tried to attach it by clicking on "browse," finding the correct .jpg file and then clicking on "add." The .jpg never is added to the message. I never had trouble with adding .jpgs this way on my old iBook and I don't have trouble adding .jpgs on my G-5 at work. As I said, I can add .doc Word documents on the new MacBook, so I really don't understand what the problem is. The .jpgs files are about 1 MB in size, so it's not like I'm trying to add a gigantic file.

  • Auto attach jpg files to image fields

    I create a form with multi text fields and multi image fields in LiveCycle Designer. Each text field will be filled with image path name. Is it possible to write a routine in form to automatically attach each image file name speicifed in text field into respective image field. This function should be automattically activated when opening PDF.
    It will be appreciated if someone has similar codes can be shared.
    Thanks
    Jackson

    Hi,
    The short answer is no (afaik). As far as I can see referencing an external image file is a security concern. See this example here: http://assure.ly/mcFrC6 (in particular page 3).
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • When I attach a JPG file in my email and send it to a Windows friend they get the message "The file type being saved or retrieved has been blocked when they try to open it." Anyone know why and how to fix this problem?

    When I attach a JPG file in my email message and send it to a Windows friend they get the message "The file type being saved or retrieved has been blocked when they try to open it so that they can save it." Anyone know why and how to fix this problem?

    Your Windows friend should ask in a Windows forum why his email client won't open attached jpg files. We have no idea what email client he is using or how his Windows security is configured.

  • JPG files attached to mails - can't open directly

    I use webmail applications (not directly 'Mail' from Mac OS) and when image JPG files are attached, and click on them to open them, the computer considers them as 'binary file' and only allows to save to disk - then, on the disk, Mac opens them with single-click with 'Preview' ('Vista Previa' in Spanish Mac OS); why can't I open them directly on the web application? Is there anything I can do (seting) to see the images with a single-click fro the atach icons?

    Are these JPG files you receive via email coming only from one user, or any user?
    The JPG file email attachment is opened on the BlackBerry using the BlackBerry Attachment Service. It is a core part of your operating system.
    First off, try this:  With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
    Now attempt to view an email-attached jpg file. Any luck?
    If not you might want to upgrade your OS on the device.
    Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.
    See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8500-series-discussion-gemini/227461-latest-os-8520-5-0-0-11...
    Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • I use Outlook for my email on the Safari web browser, and about 90% of the time when I want to attach a pdf or jpg file the email message will crash.

    I use Outlook for my email on the Safari web browser, and about 90% of the time when I want to attach a pdf or jpg file it fails and about 50% of the time when I want to send a standard text massage it will also fail and the email massage crashes. The only way I can get my Outlook to work is if I switch to Firefox web browser. I would rather not switch to a new web browser if I don't have to.
    It seems like what ever the problem is that its related the Safari web browser, because it works fine on the Firefox web browser.
    I think its some kind of plug-in failure because it giving me a LOC ERROR:
    LOC ERROR: Unable to locate localized string for resource ID 5007.
    How can I fix this Plug-in?
    And, yes my softwer is conpletly updated…

    That's an Outlook issue. You'll probably get better responses posting on the Office for Mac forums.

  • How to open .jpg files in email attachements on iphone 4s using iOS 7.1.1?

    When I receive a .jpg file attached to an email, it shows up in my email on my iPhone as a "winmail.dat" attached file and cannot open in.

    Hello, Rick.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    I see you have tried some troubleshooting steps already with the issue persisting.  There are just a couple more steps that I would go through in the article below.
    iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
    If the option to turn on W-Fi is grayed out, see this article for steps on troubleshooting.

  • I can't open a jpg file directly from an Outlook email attachment into Photoshop CC.

    When I try to open a jpg file directly from an Outlook email attachment into Photoshop CC I get this error message " Photyoshop CC.exe - Entry Point not found" with this string:

    I don't think I have ever been able to open an image directly from Outlook into Photoshop.  What you can do, is drag from outlook to desktop, and then from desktop into Photoshop.  Or, if seeing the windows at the same time is a problem, drag onto desktop, then minimise everything, and drag onto the Photoshop icon (if you have a Photoshop shortcut on your desktop).

  • Attachment of file type PDF/JPG

    Hi guys,
    I have following requirement in my Z development
    1) I want to attach only PDF or JPG files to a document no
       generated thru this development. I am using
       <u>SO_WIND_ATTACHMENT_CREATE_API1</u> FM. Is there any
       other FM to accomplish this task.
    2) How to delete the attachment. Above FM is not
       returning any information about FOLDER ID, OBJECT ID
       LOGSYS etc. Nor there is any FM in this group (SO91)
       to delete attachment.
    3) How to get session id of a GUI session? I want it as

       since in create mode document no is generated only
       after saving the document.
    Thanks.

  • Provision to attach JPG, PDF or word file in module pool program

    Hi All,
    I am creating a Z-transaction with create, change and display options. The user needs 2 to 3 fields where he/she can attach a google map or a pdf or a word file. Could anyone please suggest how I can go about this such that during creation process the user can attach a file and then the same is displayed in the display screen and a click on that could lead to opening of the map or the pdf file stored on the system. If anyone has done the same, cud you please provide the code also.
    Regards,
    BP.

    First of all you need to create a conatiner on screen then
    for displaying word document you need to refer class CL_GUI_DOCUMENTS.
    Sample code :
    data: custom_container type ref to cl_gui_custom_container,
          word_doc         type ref to cl_gui_documents.
    *&&custom container--
      create object custom_container
                     exporting container_name = 'CUST_CONT'.
      create object word_doc
        exporting
          parent            = custom_container
       SHELLSTYPE        =
       LIFETIME          =
        exceptions
          cntl_error        = 1
          cntl_system_error = 2
          create_error      = 3
          lifetime_error    = 4
          others            = 5
      if sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
               WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
      endif.
    call method word_doc->open_document
      exporting
       GUID                  =
       GUIDTOUSE             = SPACE
       DOCUMENT_ID           =
       CONTREP_ID            =
        document_class        = 'WORDPRO.APPLICATION'
       OBJECT_TYPE           =
       OBJECT_ID             =
       DOCUMENT_TYPE         = 'WORD.BASIC'
      exceptions
        implace_not_supported = 1
        others                = 2
    if sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
               WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
    endif.
    for PDF document you need to refer class  CL_GUI_PDFVIEWER
    Sample code : refer to program SAP_PDF_VIEWER_DEMO
