Attaching strace to running WebLogic Server using jrockit

Hi all,
We are running WLS 8.1 sp4 on Linux using jrockit. As you know jrockit on Linux spawns several proccesses. I'm trying to use strace to monitor traffic in the hopes of solving a socket timeout issue. I have tried the following command:
strace -p 12742 -f -r -t
However, that doesn't see to be the correct pid. Does anyone know how to attach strace to a running WLS using jrockit on Linux?
pat

Yes,
The JDK is just the Sun JDK...nothing special. You may upgrade minor versions quite safely by dowloading later one at Sun website and pointting your "JAVA_HOME" at it.
I would not jump to 1.4, as changes in java language may impact.

    Is it possible to run Weblogic Server 7.0 SP4 with a different JRE than the one

    I run under JBuilder X using 1.4 is not there. ANy help as to how I go about

  • Starting Weblogic server using Telnet/Putty

    Hi,
    I have Weblogic server(9.1) installed on a unix box.
    I open putty, login to the box and start the weblogic server using the command
    ./startWebLogic.sh
    It all starts fine and things work properly.
    But as soon as I close the putty window, the server too shuts down?
    Can I avoid this scenario.
    Is there any way I can keep the servers running even after closing the putty window.
    Is there any settings to be done on the unix box?
    Is there any settings to be done on putty?
    Should I use the command ./startWebLogic.sh in some different way?
    Little urgent for me. Appreciate your help.

    nohup ./startWebLogic.sh &
    try man nohup for more info on it...

  • Starting WebLogic Server using Console

    This is a simple question. I am trying to start the WebLogic Server
    using the WebLogic Console. It seems to be starting the wrong WebLogic
    server.
    When I monitor the log information in the console I see it starts the
    server with a 32ms and a 32mx whereas in my startWebLogic.sh script I
    have specified 128ms and 128mx. How do I make my startconsole.sh script
    read the correct startWebLogic.sh script ? This is on solaris.
    When I ran the script startWebLogic.sh it was able to start up
    completely.
    Thanks.

    Ted,
    Thanks for the reply. Just another question on this-I have added a lot of jar files to the
    WEBLOGICCLASSPATH in my startWebLogic.sh script. I presume since I am starting the server using the
    console I need to add this information(the WEBLOGICCLASSPATH variable) to the startConsole.sh script
    and try running the server again.
    Currently its reporting that its unable to find the server classes which I wrote.

    Aswin,
    Sorry for the confusion. When you start the server in the console, you get a dialog window. There
    is a button labled "Advanced..." Click on that and set the "Java Heap (MB)" to 128. That will do
    what you want it to.

    I guess I was not clear on my problem. When I start the weblogic server using the

    running another version of the startweblogic.sh script which I dont know where its getting
    from.

    Aswin,
    Did you edit your startConsole.sh? The last line in that file should set your ms and mx.
    It should say something like:
    $JAVA -ms16m -mx48m -classpath $JAVACLASSPATH weblogic.Console
    Changing the ms and mx values here should have the affect you're looking for.

  • How to make integrated weblogic server use log4j

    Hi all,
    I use Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6, WL 10.3 on Win7. JDK 1.6.0.3x64
    I tried to configure for 1 day during according to guides and informations on net. But i can not make it works unfortunately. Just after i start wls, encountered this:
    <14-12-2012 10:42:00 o'clock EET> <Error> <Log Management> <BEA-170022> <Log4j failed to initialize for DefaultServer. The default JDK Logging implementation will be used.

    I followed up basically through those links log4j Configuration in Standalone Weblogic Server - ADF and http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/logging/config_logs.html#using_log4j
    I changed Logging implementation as Log4j from JDK: http://www.2hotfile.com/image.php?di=72YU
    I created log4j.xml file under my %DOMAINHOME%\config : http://www.2hotfile.com/image.php?di=JHLI
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?><!DOCTYPE log4j:configuration SYSTEM "log4j.dtd">

    </layout>
    </appender>
    <appender name="FILE" class="org.apache.log4j.DailyRollingFileAppender">

    <param name="Append" value="false"/>
    <!-- Rollover at midnight each day -->

    <layout class="org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout">

    <level value="DEBUG"/>
    <appender-ref ref="FILE"/>
    <!-- <appender-ref ref="CONSOLE"/> -->
    </root>
    </log4j:configuration>
    i copied log4j.jar, wllog.jar into my %DOMAINHOME%\lib : http://www.2hotfile.com/image.php?di=BYB3
    Even i copied commons-logging-1.0.4.jar and com.bea.core.weblogic.commons.logging_1.4.0.0.jar files into the lib folder and then i set CLASSPATH accordingly, result was negative.
    I added these lines into startWeblogic.cmd
    @REM customized here for log4j
    set LOG4J_CONFIG_FILE=%DOMAIN_HOME%\config\log4j.xml
    set SAVE_JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS% -Dweblogic.log.Log4jLoggingEnabled=true -Dlog4j.debug -Dlog4j.configuration=%LOG4J_CONFIG_FILE%
    set SAVE_CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;%DOMAIN_HOME%\config;
    Additionally, i have tried adding log4j.jar into sysyem classpath becuse of classloading problem suspicion: http://www.2hotfile.com/image.php?di=7Y3N after view this link http://www.coderanch.com/t/479763/BEA-Weblogic/Log-Weblogic-ClassNotFoundException

    I resolved the exception; Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 was setted up on my pc as well. That was the cause of problem. System was looking some paths on 11.1.1.4 server folders that belong to 11.1.14 version.
    Now, created server log which i defined in log4j.xml but no log line found in file, nothing logged according to log4j.xml config file and wls still writes its own log into its own log file which is under $domain_home$\servers\DefaultServer\logs\DefaultServer.log. What might be the reason?

  • Running Weblogic Server 10.3.3 in Debug  mode

    Hi to all,
    Here i got a problem after installing Oracle Identity Manager 11g R3,to solve the issue i need to run WebLogic Server 10.3.3 in Debug mode.
    Can any suggest how to run WebLogic Server 10.3.3 in Debug mode.
    Here i find a solution to run in debug mode,but no difference in log files before and after changing debug mode.
    Enable Debugging on the WebLogic Server
    To start WebLogic Server in debug mode, you will need to modify the startWebLogic.cmd script in the <WLS-root>\wlserver_10.0\samples\domains\wl_server directory. <WLS-root> is the directory in which WebLogic 10.0.1 was installed into.
    In the startWebLogic.cmd script, specify the JAVA OPTIONS with:
    set JAVA_OPTIONS=-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=4000,server=y,suspend=n
    Let me know if u have any questions,
    Thanks and Ragards,
    Satish

    Greg,
    I cam across this issue too. It looks like there is a bug in sample script provided by weblogic documentation. We should not use ADMIN_URL as they mentioned in the script.
    Remove it and try. For more info. please see this link helps:

  • Error in starting weblogic server using ant

    Hi,
    I am trying to start the weblogic server using ant.I used the following command:

    </target>
    But it is giving me an error that java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/Server
    I also tried the following command:
    <target name="start-weblogic">

    But the problem with this command is that it does not reurn control to execute the further commands.
    Please suggest something.
    Thanks in advance

  • How to access an External LDAP on a weblogic server using OPSS APIs.

    Hi,
    Can anyone let me know how I can access an External LDAP configured on a weblogic server using OPSS APIs( or alternative APIs).
    I'm currently using the below snippet and I'm getting only the Users and groups from the DefaultAutheticator on the weblogic server and not the external LDAP Server.
    I've verified the providers, users and groups on the weblogic server console and can see that external LDAP server content is being picked, but my below code does not query them.
    import oracle.security.idm.IMException;
    import oracle.security.idm.IdentityStore;
    import oracle.security.idm.Role;
    import oracle.security.jps.JpsContext;
    import oracle.security.jps.JpsContextFactory;
    import oracle.security.jps.JpsException;
    import oracle.security.jps.service.idstore.IdentityStoreService;
    List<Role> rowData = null;
    JpsContextFactory ctxf = JpsContextFactory.getContextFactory();
    JpsContext ctx = ctxf.getContext();
    IdentityStoreService storeService = ctx.getServiceInstance(IdentityStoreService.class);
    IdentityStore idStore = storeService.getIdmStore();
    rowData = this.getRoles(idStore, "*");
    Any help or pointers are highly appreciated.

    Can anyone please provide any suggestions. I trying to google around but still not able to find any solution.

  • Upload a jar file in remote Weblogic server using wlst

    Is there a way to upload a jar file to a specific location on remote weblogic server using wlst? This is my scenario - I need to upload aspectjweaver.jar to the remote server. This needs to be done before weblogic startup, as weaving takes place during startup . FTP is not an option because those ports are blocked

    Hi,
    You don't have such option through upload files as what FTP do but you can deploy the application through wlst.
    eg:
    deploy('Web14','C:/TEMP/Web14.war',targets='Cluster1',stageMode='stage',upload='true',remote='true')
    Or you can use Deploy option to deploy app directly.
    eg:
    java weblogic.Deployer -adminurl http://localhost:7001
    -username weblogic -password weblogic
    -deploy ./myapp.ear -id myDeployment
    This will upload file and place the file there from there you can manipulate the file.
    Hope this will work for you.

  • What the best way to call twenty tuxedo domains from one weblogic server use WTC

    I need to call twenty tuxedo domains from one weblogic server use
    WTC. the Service be called in the twenty tuxdo domains are same, do I need to
    write twenty EJB in the weblogic server to call the same service? who have good
    adea to deal with this problem?

    Hi,
    I have a question on the second case. When the client doesn't care of which
    Tuxedo domain it is hitting. What happens if one of the Tux domain is down ? What
    happens to the client request to that domain ?
    Another question is lets say i have a Tuxedo configuration as MP mode( Multi
    machine mode) how does WTC load balance between the Tuxedo domains.
    Thanks,

    Hi xcjing,
    One way to handle your needs is to use local service name to remote
    reservice name translation. For instance,
    (in 6.1,6.0 WLS)
    <T_DM_IMPORT ResourceName="TOUPPER1" LocalAccessPoint="WTC"
    RemoteAccessPointList="TUX-DOM1">
         <RemoteName>TOUPPER</RemoteName>
    </T_DM_IMPORT>
    <T_DM_IMPORT ResourceName="TOUPPER2" LocalAccessPoint="WTC"
    RemoteAccessPointList="TUX-DOM2">
         <RemoteName>TOUPPER</RemoteName>
    </T_DM_IMPORT>
    <T_DM_IMPORT ResourceName="TOUPPER3" LocalAccessPoint="WTC"
    RemoteAccessPointList="TUX-DOM3">
         <RemoteName>TOUPPER</RemoteName>
    </T_DM_IMPORT>
    etc
    With this configuration if your client have to call "TOUPPER" service
    in
    TUX-DOM1 then you code your client to call "TOUPPER1" and the request
    will be routed to TUX-DOM1. The same way for request has to go to
    TUX-DOM3, your client calls "TOUPPER3" service and WTC will route it
    to
    TUX-DOM3. In this remote name translation you may have to write 20 EJB
    although they are almost the same. However, if your EJB can analyze
    your client input to decide which Remote Tuxedo Domain to send the
    service request to then you probably only need one EJB.
    In the case that your client does not care which remote Tuxedo Domain
    provides the service then adding
    <T_DM_IMPORT ResourceName="TOLOWER" LocalAccessPoint="WTC"
    RemoteAccessPointList="TUX-DOM1">
         <RemoteName>TOLOWER</RemoteName>
    </T_DM_IMPORT>
    <T_DM_IMPORT ResourceName="TOLOWER" LocalAccessPoint="WTC"
    RemoteAccessPointList="TUX-DOM2">
         <RemoteName>TOLOWER</RemoteName>
    </T_DM_IMPORT>
    <T_DM_IMPORT ResourceName="TOLOWER" LocalAccessPoint="WTC"
    RemoteAccessPointList="TUX-DOM3">
         <RemoteName>TOLOWEr</RemoteName>
    </T_DM_IMPORT>
    etc
    Will load balance your client "TOLOWER" service request among your 20
    remote Tuxedo Domain.
    However, there is a bug in WTC that causes the Remote Service Name
    translation functionality not working properly. It is fixed in the
    upcoming release of WLS.

    from?

    "A. Honghsi Lo" <[email protected]> wrote:
    hi xcjing,
    You don't have to write 20 beans or deploy 20 beans because there
    are
    20
    remote Tuxedo TDomain you need get the service from. Of course, WLSand
    WTC does not prohibit you from doing it though. Whether you need20
    beans or not depend more on you architecture.
    To access 20 remote Tuxedo Domain from one single WLS with singleWTC
    you can configure 20 remote Tuxedo Domain in the BDMCONFIG (6.1,6.0)
    or
    from the console (7.0). You import 20 services one from each remote
    Tuxedo domain. You write one bean, and deploy one bean. Your WLS
    clients will be able to access THE ejb, the EJB will access the WTC
    service, and WTC will load balanced the service requests among the20
    remote Tuxedo Domain.

  • Errors when deploying application to a remote WebLogic server using Eclipse

    I'm using Eclipse with OEPE for WebLogic 10.3.5 on linux and running a weblogic server versioned the same.
    I've created a new EAR which combined several EARs that I had, and deployed it on my local server using the 'servers' tab in Eclipse. It went well.
    When I tried to deploy the EAR into my remote server, I got the exception:
    Application archive not found : myworkspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects/MyEAR/beadep/remote_weblogic/MyEAR/split_src.ear
    This also happens when trying to deploy the EAR to a server that runs on my computer but configured as 'remote' in Eclipse. This does not happen for any other application of mine.
    Next thing I tried is to update my Eclipse OEPE and server to 12.1.1, so I've downloaded the two, installed them both as new, and now when I'm looking for remote servers in the Eclipse, instead of writing the server status (republish/synchronized) it writes:
    User: myuser, failed to be authenticated
    I'm lost. How can I deploy my application with Eclipse OEPE to a remote weblogic server?

  • Can't start weblogic server using Ant

    Hello,
    I can't start the WL Portal after installation.
    On a Windows 2000 Server SP2 : - I installed WebLogic Server 6.1 SP2 with the examples
    - I installed WebLogic Portal 4.0 SP2 (giving the same password as during the WL
    Server installation) -I installed EBCC 4.0 SP2 .
    I updated the license with UpdateLicense.cmd
    Now If I run - run the default WL server, both from the menu and as a service -
    enter the WL server console (on port 7001) - run the EBCC .
    When I try to start the WL Portal, from the program menu I am able to start the
    WP server properly , But I I try to start it from an ant wlrun then I get the error
    an IllegalAccessError (with the same password I gave during installation and I use
    to enter the server console): The WebLogic Server did not start up properly. Exception
    raised: java.lang.IllegalAccessError: try to access method weblogic/management/internal/Helper.preloadMBeanInfos()V

    Any idea ?

    Hi VG,
    thank u a lot for ur answer. But there are no files at the Admin Server boot.properties path.
    and at the BI Server boot.properties path there is no security folder. Do u have any idea why i cant found anything at this directions ? Also I tried again the command "./startWeblogic.sh " and get a new error message which I post below. I am rlly worry about this. Is there maybe a way to reset the OBIEE and undo all changes ?
