Attaching the document to Equipment without DMS

Hello ,
I want to attach soft copies of documents to the equipment master. My queries are:
1. How do I attach the same without DMS?
2. Can I attach multiple documents to one equipment? If yes how many and how?

Go to change equipment ie02 , and youi will find service for object just before the
title Change equipment : General data
u can attach word ,excel and image here

You may carry this thro IE02 services for objects then u can attach here. but not advisable.

Error while attaching the document using Method add_attachment

Hello Friends,
We are getting an error while using the BCS Class Method for attaching the documents to the mail.
We are using method: add_attachment()
For this I am passing the parameters:
attachment_type: PDF
attachment_subject: XXXXXXX
att_content_hex: content_hex[] "Internal table
The system is throwing error message X_ERROR.
Friends please help me in how to rectify the error message.

I don't feel like buying any more printers. I told my daughter to attach the document she wanted to print to an email to me and I would see if I could print it. No problem. Will this always be true?

Sorry. That should have been a heading and not the whole question. I am trying to figure out the question of iPad printing. If there was such a thing as a great little portable iPad printer maybe I would give my daughter one some day. But the printer I am using is working for me because I installed it as a network printer on my wired network. It does have WiFi capabilities but it does not have the 'Air' thing. It's an HP Officejet 4500 etc etc...My question is: will printing anything from her iPad always be as easy as she attaching a document to an email and mailing to herself on Yahoo which she can retrieve on any of 3 PCs in this house? I hope so - my computer budget is blown...

Bust i take database column type is BLOB but i am not getting the data in this column and also i checked in fnd_lobs.Please tell me how to store the file in to database.

Funtionality of attaching the documents to fb03.

Dear experts,
We recently upgraded from 4.6 C to ECC 6.0.
I am new to archieving.
My functional consultant is saying, u201CWe have lost the functionalty of the FB03 during the release upgrade( ECC 6.0) and the business demands this functionality back.
Description of the functionality we lost is :
1. Attach to a FI-doucument additional document (standard) (FB03 --> take a document from Company code u201C0XYZu201D --> attach a file to the Document)
Any body have idea of how to check this functionality of attaching the file to document ? How can I check this
I have old system( development & Qulity of 4.6 ) available still...for few days. How can I check this.

For checking the functnality , Open transaction FB03. Give the values of document number , company code and fiscal year. If you dont have these values seprately, and have value of accounting document only, then you break up the value of accounting document to genrate these three values.
For example if accounting doc number is 80019000016782009 , then your comany code 8001 , document number is 1900001678 , and Fiscal year is 2009.After giving these values,press enter.
You will see a screen 'Display document : overview' . Now just click the button 'Services for object ' ( extreme left near screen description label ' 'Display document : overview' ) . Now you will get a pop up.
Click on the second button 'Attachment list' in the pop up to view the attached documents. Similarly for creating the document, Press first button 'Create' in pop up. Just drag and drop the document fro attachment.

I found the solution on oracle application screen itself.
Oracle Apps already provided the attachement future in the application itself.
VIEW ----> ATTACHEMENTS.. here we can attach a any type of document for customer transaction or supplier invoice.

Can we restrict only what documents extension can be attached
like if want to restrict to only .doc (word files)- is it possibile
other than word documents no other documents (ppt,xls etc) should not allow to attach/upload to PO.

. You can use Transaction SCOT to trigger the output manually. The prerequisite for a correct sending is that the node is set correctly. but it must have already been carried out.
but U can't restric for particular file like PDF, DOC

Any time I want to delete anything by dragging it to trash, my computer keeps on asking me for my password. And once I write my password, the document is deleted without actually going first to trash. How can I solve this?

Any time I want to delete any thing by dragging to trash, my computer will ask me for my login password and once I write my password, the deleted document/file will not go to trash but it will be deleted instantly. How am I going to change this? Meaning drag documents/files to trash and than empty the trash. Can you help?

DMS- How to know that the documents are attached??

Hello Guys,
This is pertaining to DMS,
We attach documents and link it to various object links.
Later when we get into that transaction we retrive the attached documents.
Suppose i attached the DIR to MARA (in object links) , and until i forcely go to document data in T code MM02 i cant know that documents are attached.....??
My question is how any one will know that the documents are linked thru DMS to Various object links in those transactions.
Is my question is valid......just put your comments...

But i think i should be still precise little bit more....
Just consider a situation where u have 2 users ....A & B,both are in different location.just imagine user B dont have any contact to(from) User A
User A: creates the various document info record and attach to Material master .
User B is working in another plant . How user B will know that to this material documents are attached,
He(USER B) should have already got the information that documents are attached else he should go and check document data Tab forcing himself......
I felt that every time user has to check as a practice if any documents are attached thru Tab EXTRA'S but this may be critical...not every one will do that....some time u may forget to check the presence.
Is my question valid......??!?!?

Use following basic steps to configure the DMS for WBS & Network Actvities.
1) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management System -
    > Control Data -> Define Number Ranges for Document Numbers.
    Here you can use Internal or External Number Range for saving the documents.
2) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management System -
    > Control Data -> Define Document Types
    Here you have to add various Document Types (must be 3 char) as per your requirement
    For Example.:
    COM     Comparitive Statemnt
    MMB     Measurement Book
    MPR     Monthly Work Proggs
3) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
    System -> Control Data -> Define Document Types -> Define Document Status. ( Not Mandatory )
    Document status is used to show the current status of yr document.
    For Example:
    IW - In Work
    RE - Released
    CR - Change Request
    AR - Archieved
4) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
    System -> Control Data -> Define Document Types -> Define Object links.
    If you want to attach the documents to WBS Element & Network Actvity add following Objects by     using above menu path
PRPS - WBS Element
VORGNET - Network
If you are going to store the DMS documents in same R/3 Server follow the below menu path, here you must take help of your BASIS Consultant
5) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
    System -> General Data -> Define Data Carrier.
If you are going to store the DMS documents in Seperate DMS Server follow the below menu path, here you must take help of your BASIS Consultant
6) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
    System -> General Data -> Settings for Storage Systems > Maintain Storage System & Maintain Storage Category
7) SPRO / IMG -> Cross - Application Component -> Document Management
    System -> General Data -> Define Work Station Application

Not able to attach the scanned document with Interaction Record in SAP-CRM

Hi Experts,
I have a scanned document and I am trying to attach it with Activity in Interaction Record.
I maintained the document ID refering to scanned document in table TOA01 with interaction record guid; however the attachment gets displayed in SAP-CRM GUI but i am not able to see the attachment in SAP-CRM GUI.
Please help if someone has encountered a similar issue or propose a way to attach the document with acitivity in interaction record.

I am not able to understand your requirement correctly. Are you trying to attach the Document as a Attachment to the Interaction record (or) trying to attach it as a Archive Link Document??

Create Attachment issue in storing the document

We are facing an issue in tranaction PR05 (Travel Expense Manager) on services object for Create Attachment. We would like to know is there anyway/manage to find any setting so that the u201CCreate Attachmentu201D would result in storing the document on the content server like the u201CStore Business Documentu201D does.
Please advise and confirm.

I try to answer based on my understanding.
If you want to store the document in the server when attaching the document in Services for object, it can be done.
You have to define the directory in the server where the documents are to be stored. Also you need to define a naming convention for all the files which need to be stored in the directory.
Then you have to programatically enable the services for object to store the files in the directory created for that purpose. Also on clicking, you should programatically enable the document fetching from the directory by making use of the naming convention.
