Attachment Application association not saving in GW2012

Hi,
The PC:
Windows 7
MS Office 2007
IE 8
GW2012 client.
Issue: File/Application association settings won't hold for attachments in GW.
Description: GIF files were associated with MS Paint to OPEN. They are opening in MS Paint. But now we tried to change it to "Windows Photo Viewer". Yes the box for "always use this program to open...." was checked. GIF files from the PC are now opening with "Windows Photo Viewer" as selected but they still open in "MS Paint" when a GIF attachment is opened from GW.
Tried reinstalling GW client, cleaning registry but that didn't help.
Anyone might have faced this/similar problem?
Any suggestions to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Customized Setting of External Applications are NOT saved if using templates

We are using templates and on the template we have put the "External Application" portlet .
Now if normal user tries and customize this portlet then these settings are not saved.
Like user want's to see only 2 applications so he checks only 2 applications but these settings are not saved and portal still shows 5 applications to that user.

I haven't seen this problem. Please report it to Oracle Support.

Korean characters displays properly in application, but not saved in DB properly

Korean characters are retrieved and displayed properly in VB6 application. But upon record insertion, it is not properly saved. See below before and after screenshots.

We have tried with setting of "keeporgmultibyte", "set char_convert off", "ODBC User Specified Character Set cp850", unfortunately nothing worked.
Please see below for details of our ASE.

I don't have any direct experience configuring ASE for use with Korean text, however cp850 seems like an odd choice for Korean. I would expect utf8 (particularly if data in other languages were being stored as well) or cp949. Korean Character Set.
I don't think version has anything to do with your issue, but why on earth would you still be running on 12.5.4?

Applications are not saving or opening to/from recent folder ????????

Every time I go to open or save a file - it brings me to the same folder - which is a pain when saving many files a day - it just begin doing this, anyone know if I may of deleted a preference file or something that could cause my apps to open/save from the same place everytime??

Hi cdigital, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I think I know what the problem is...
In finder, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes".
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1, 2, etc., and reboot.

XFCE startup application changes not saving

Not sure if this is the right place for this. I am new to Arch but not to *nix. I am using XFCE for the first time. I am having an issue where dropbox is starting before networkmanager establishes a connection so I am trying to change the line in the ~/.config/autostart/dropbox.destop to read:
sh -c "nm-online -t 120 && /opt/dropbox/dropboxd"
however, whenever i change this and reboot or relog the line reverts back to "/opt/dropbox/dropboxd". I tried changing this in the XFCE session and startup gui but the same thing happens. Any idea how to get this setting to stick permanently?

It can be difficult getting items to launch in a particular order using ~/.config/autostart, and even more difficult having them wait until network manager has brought the network up.
May I suggest trying network manager's dispatcher.d directory. Here scripts are executed in number/alpha order upon the netowrk coming up and in reverse numerical/alpha order prior to the network going down.
This way you can launch/mount/start and terminate/unmount/stop apps/filesystems/services based on the state of the network.
For example, I start/stop ntpd, netfs and mount/unmount my NAS as follows:
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d
10.ntp_daemon
15.netfs
20.mount_unmount_nas
The scripts must be executable and owned by root, and they are executed as root, so ensure you include the necessary code to launch apps as your user where required.
A sample script follows:

If I use the mail application the attachment opens and I see the QuickTime logo on the attachment.
When using the web mail yahoo the attachment, an mp4 audio, opens a black page with a crossed triangle icon in the middle of the page.
Any solution ?

There's two ways you can deploy your aspx (layout) files. One is deploy in _Layouts folder (which basically copy the file in (c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\15\template\layouts). To copy file in that place, you don't
need module, just use SharePoint mapped folder.
Another way is to upload the layout folder in SharePoint library. But _catalogs is not the right place to upload your file (_catalogs doesn't have any subfolder named 'layouts'). You can upload your file in 'Pages' library or 'site pages' library in the
current web.
I'm not quite sure though (sorry I didn't get what the problem is but just guessed you are trying to get your aspx page in SharePoint designer, not sure why) why you need to upload the file in pages/site pages library instead of '_layouts' folder.

Downloads of updates not saving, no prompts or icons in the Application folder-how do I ensure updates are saved?

I am following the instructions to download v 6 but receive no prompt to move the Firefox icon to the applications folder. I have done that anyway, but it's not saving-the latest version is July 11. I then get reminders to update all the time-what am I doing wrong?

A lot of people panic when they see Photoshop displaying differently from other software. But that's normal and expected. Here's what happens:
1. Photoshop is color managed and performs a document profile > monitor profile conversion when it displays. So whatever the document profile is, Photoshop will display correctly - unless you have CM policies set to "off" (...!)
2. Other applications, including many web browsers, aren't color managed and will just send the file numbers directly to the display. This distinction is extremely important, because there will be a slight difference. Again, that's normal. Photoshop is right and the other apps are wrong.
3. Without color management, it all hangs on how your monitor displays color. Most monitors are so close to sRGB that any sRGB file will display roughly correctly. This is why sRGB is the de facto web standard: it can live without color management. And that's why you should always convert web material to sRGB. Yes, that's the Edit > Convert to Profile option. You can also use Save For Web to do this if you check the appropriate boxes.

Attachment modifications not saving when routing document

The issue is that in some cases attachment file modification are not saved and forwarded to the next recipient when using the routing slip feature.
Here is the scenario:
A user sends an excel document as an attachment and routes to several users via the groupwise routing slip feature.
The normal and successful work flow is this:
Next user in the route recieve the email.
Opens the document (in excel) and makes some changes in the document.
They select save (not save as).
Then then click the "completed" check box to continue the routing.
The next user will receive the email and attachment and the changes will be included.
The issue is that in many cases (about 50% of the time) the attachement edits will not stick and are not included for the subsequent recipients.
I have done some experimentation and it appears to be related to how the groupwise client handles temporary files.
It looks like there are two different folders used - my documents\groupwise and user\local settings\temp\xpgrwise.
When it works it appears that "edits" are saved in the temporary files folder and then "re-attached" to the routed email.
And the temp files are deleted when the email is closed.
In the failed scenario the attachment file does not get deleted from the temporary folder (and edits are not forwarded).
It appears to me that there may be another "unknown" temp file folder someplace that is being referenced and causing the issue.
We are using groupwise 8 client by the way and I think the issue started after the version 8 upgrade.
Has anyone else experienced and/or resolved this.
Any help would be much appreciated.

first, you just asked me to use MS file Explorer to see what the properties were.,..and to ask what happened. Yes - that's on my hard drive. The problem I have is opening word files in a DB that is web enabled.....I've used Firefox browser for that, and everything else , for years...... When I look at the Tools, and options on FireFox., as your support page noted.....NOTHING is listed in the Applications tab....hence my note asking for help. The file I need to open is a Word file out on a web enabled DB. It's not on my hard drive - I have to problems opening docs there - but for that, I don't use Firefox

I get this message when I try to download a pdf file from a website.

This is a new error. There used to be no problem.

Do you have any setting for MP3 in Tools > Options > Applications ?
You usually need the QuickTime plugin to play MP3 files on Windows because that is the only plugin that supports that file extension if there is no MIME type specified to play the file with another plugin like Windows Media Player or RealPlayer.

Mail is not saving attachment and save as is not working

Suddenly my Mail is not saving attachment and save as is not working. I tried to save an email as I use to do but it is not completing the task. I should I do?

Was there also NO choice to View As Icon, in the contextual menu? If not, these items/images may be embedded in HTML, rather than true attachments. Other choices for normal attachments would include Open Attachment, Open With, Save to Downloads Folder -- are any of those present in the contextual menu?
With such a message open, click on View in the menubar, place the cursor on Message in the pull-down menu, and choose Raw Source. Is there any HTML code present? Is there a header immediately before any code representing what you believe is an attached file?
If need be, I can send you an email message with a known form of attachment.

I have onld zen 7.x, on netware.
Applications associated with workstations not working or appearing in one container. Not sure if it every worked. Apps work fine with users.
I am in a bind, since I need to get the app out in the workstation space.
It maybe rights or simple install error with the ZEN from the begining.

Please tell us more as "not working" can mean a lot of things. So:
Are they user or workstation associated?
Are those for whick they do not work (users or workstations) all in the
same container?
In what way do they not work?
Any errors?
