Attachment disappear when forwarding a mail with attachment in a rule

Could anyone verify my problem please?
I have upgraded to Mountain Lion and Mail 6.1
I have a rule set up in Mail to forward certain messages.
However, since the upgrade, all messages being forwarded has all attachments striped.
It appears that the problem occurs only when forward is being used by a rule.
When I forward the same message manually, the attachment is sent as well.
Am I missing something?
Many thanks in advance.

Update:
Found the answer last night.
Forward mail in a rule behaves differently since OS X Lion from previous versions.
Forward mail set in a Rule would not forward any attachments in the original email.
If forwarding with attachments is required, use redirect in the Rule instead. (However,
you cannot append any message when using redirect)

Unfortunately in a "forwarded" message that "select the size"  is not present in the lower right corner.
You can try attachment tamer and see if that helps in your situation.

Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things.

  • HT1386 All of a sudden when I forward a mail with an attachment the attachment does not appear in the message can you tell me why and how to correct it.

All of a sudden I can not forward mail with an attachment.  Anybody have any suggestions.

When you tap on the arrow in the upper right corner and select - Forward - doesn't another window popup that says Include/Don't Include? That is in reference to the attachment. Select Include from that window.
Sorry, didn't realize that my photo editing "skills" would produce the giant size screenshot!

  • Used to be able to forward E-mails with attachments until I updated to 4.3.5 can't now. When received, attachment shows as ?

I paid for Quick Office Pro HD so I could amend spreadsheets (works well) and E-mail word documents. Because Quick Office shows the sender as Quick Office, I used to forward the attachment in Mail so it also comes up in the sent documents. Now I have updated to 4.3.5, forwarding an E-mail with a word attachment does'nt work. It shows as a small icon in the message and all the recipient sees is a ? That can't be opened.
I hope OS 5 let's me send word docs straight from Dropbox.

Hello and welcome to the Discussions.
If you are using Rich Text Format to compose, and if you have two or more different fonts, then Mail 2.x will convert the RTF to HTML, and this in turn may trigger some SPAM filters, which then block the message.
Test sending with Plain Text, report whether the same thing happens. Many people do not understand the SPAM filters their ISP or mail server provider has in place, and thus may not know what messages are filtered out.
Btw, a Signature can be the source for there being multiple fonts in use.

  • Mail shuts down when sending e-mail with large attachment

I am trying to send an e-mail with a zipped folder (468 MB) - but once I click send, the e-mail does not appear anywhere (ie.sent folders or outbox). Then, two minutes later, mail shuts down unexpectedly and a message asks me whether I'd like to 'reopen' or 'try again'.
I don't know whether this happens often or not, but I'd appreciate any help because I really need to send this e-mail some time today.
    Thanks a lot,
    George.

That happens to me all the tiem. I don't try anymore because I guess Mail just doesn't take large files like that. You should try sending it from your email provider on it's website, as you would without Mail or Outlook Express.

  • Forwarding e-mail with pictures

Whenever I forward an e-mail with pictures, the person I send it to does not see the picture.
    How can I fix this?

I had that problem when I used the old Verizon E mail.  Since switching to the new version, the problem does not exist.  This is one of the reasons I prefer the new version.  Why don't you try it and see if that  solves the problem for you. the problem.

  • How do I erase sender info when forwarding e mails

I want to forward emails but i do not want to have them see where it came from. It does not allow me to erase sender info when forwarding it.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
Computers don't use local time, but rather they use GMT and allow the user to adjust the offset for local time. There's usually a preference provided in the web mail software that can be set for your offset from GMT. Other software used on the web sometimes show the user the local time for that server, like this forum uses PDT for displaying time.

  • Mail.app locks up when opening a mail with an attachment

Hopefully someone has run into this before. Our Mac users connect to exchange using IMAP. However, the Intel based users have their mail app lock up when they receive an email with an attachment. So for I havn't been able to find any info on the web, and the non-specific instructions I've found for general maintenance of mail.app have not lead to a resolution either.
So far I've definitely narrowed it down to the Intel based users. Which is a problem because the non-intel users will be switching fairly soon. The general maintenance items I have tried include indexing the mail envelope, I gave one a reboot, but since it did not fix the problem did not try to restart the rest.
The mail.app version varies but is occurring in but most (working and non) are version 2.1.3, one is 2.1.1.

Ok, so since posting the original question I still have no resolution. Over the weekend I have applied all updates and am ruling out the server. Have setup exchange for POP3 access and setup a workstation to pop the mail over but it still hangs up mail.app. I have also attempted setting the client up for "exchange mode".
All of our intel based systems freeze when a message with an attachment is opened. The file types range from pdf (created with both acrobat and cutepdf) to illustrator documents.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

  • When I receive mail with an attachment on my I pad, the email shows the attachment (paper clip) but when I try to open it it just shows an envelope under the heading mail

I can't open any attachments received with my e mails despite it showing that there is attachment included

  • Original mail disappears when forwarding if I inadvertently attempt an edit of the original.

This problem occurs when I am creating a reply to an incoming mail. After hitting the reply button, I will sometimes inadvertantly mix up (click on) the original mail message rather than the response I'm typing. This happens when my desktop is crowded and because of the way the reply message stacks on top of the original. Anyway, If I inadvertently attempt to edit or delete any part of the ORIGINAL mail, it just disappears in a flash, without warning, as if it has been deleted. Now, I know that original mail cannot be edited but why does it disappear? My reply message remains OK but the original disappears without a trace. Where does it go? Can it be retrieved?

I figured that part out already, thanks.
What I posted was an attempt to discover why the original mail disappears, where does it go, and can it be retrieved?
It's really annoying to have the original message just disappear on those occasions when I inadvertently to click on the wrong window.

  • Problem with Replying, Relaying or Forwarding E-mails with Attachments

This just started happening recently. I don't recall exactly when. Best guess is within the last week or so.
When I try to reply to, relay or forward an e-mail (in Mail.app) that has an attachment, only the attachment shows up in the new e-mail edit window. All the text from the original email gets wiped out. It's as if I had highlighted the attachment. I've made sure, not to.
But, it get weirder... If I do highlight the original text, it does show up in the new e-mail (minus the attachment). Further, mail won't let me highlight both the text and the attachment. Just one or the other. And, it won't let me highlight any previous indented email trails at all (as it will for emails that don't have attachments).
This is not only annoying, but darn strange!
Everything is at the latest update levels. Nothing else has been acting strangely that I've noticed.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    TIA

    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Mail.app

Kudos! That was exactly the problem.
I guess I would have eventually put two and two together. My apologies for not mentioning the Safari 3 Beta, though.
    Thanks much.
Should we be expecting an updated version for the Safari 3 Beta? I assume Apple is aware of this issue. I think I'll be letting somebody else play the guinea-pig next time around.
