Attachment issues

Hello all -
Is anyone else having issues with attachments over 10 MB being sent out through the native mail app? I've tested 10 / 20 / 32 MB files and mail.app has had issues with even sending attachments just over a 10 MB file.
However, I go to my Android device and I can successfully send 32 MB attachments. Both phones are using activesync. No policies or filters blocking attachments. I updated the EWS and OWA config files within exchange to make sure they were set for a higher file size. By default those policies sit at 35 MB. I've also adjusted the policy on the EMC and reset IIS.
Done more testing, and had the same results. Eventually the 10 MB goes through but after failing 2-5 times. I've also tried to transfer emails in plain text vs html vs RTF and had the same results as I suspected that the att00001.htm file that was often replacing the attachments I sent was due to encoding of the email when communicating with exchange.
I'm at my wits end on who to blame here, and I'll be quite mad if I open tickets only to get Apple pointing fingers at Microsoft, and Microsoft doing the same thing to Apple. I've also tested application wrapping and sending email through various apps and it seems to work just fine. So it appears to happen only when sending mail from the native mail application on iOS.
Any help would be appreciated...

Tell me what file type of attachments are working properly and which file types are not?

  • ICloud lack of preferences and attachment issues

I've been using iCloud mail for a few weeks after leaving Outlook/Hotmail due to problems. It seems like I've traded off one set is issues for another set with iCloud mail.
There appears to be no preferences available at all to set up preferred body typefaces and styles, email signature (ie. setting sections in bold or italics), colours or anything like what I could do through Outlook. Even this forum box has more type settings, smileys and indent settings than iCloud
More annoyingly, any pdfs I attach and send through iCloud mail more often get a renamed to something along the lines of 'ATT000046.pdf'. This creates real issues for me as a freelance designer reliant on jobs being sent to my clients which are precisely named. I cannot work out why some clients receive the correctly named file, and others receive an 'ATT........' one.
Some files also change to .dat files (a Windows file!?) – this often happens when I zip several pdfs together.
It's getting really frustrating having no great functionality and the attachment issues too, I'd say iCloud mail is worse than Outlook.
    Can anyone help?

This has happened to me as well and it's making me seriously consider going back to gmail.  My pdf attachments are being received as .dat files.  Plus, just this morning a pdf that I received came over as a .dat file into my iCloud mailbox.  I forwarded the message to my gmail account and it was a perfect pdf that I opened.
I got my Mac about a year ago (which I LOVE) and I decided to go all Apple all the time.  But
-The iCloud email thing has so many quirks, like thei .dat file thing.
-The Apple maps aren't as good as the Google Maps app.  I was in NYC this weekend with the family and I tried to use both- Google just worked better (it hurts me to say that).
-I know that iCloud for documents is the wave of the future (or so they say), but Dropbox just works so effortlessly for my document storage.
-I know that iWoks is the future, but I can't collaborate with Pages-- my clients all need .doc files and I can't always export to a .doc file.  Sometimes Pages won't let me export, other times things like indentations are off. I got picked for the beta test of iWorks in the cloud and it's nice, but limited in functionality
I'm wondering if I should be all Apple devices and go back to gmail/google maps/office.  I don't want to do that- I want to be all Apple...not sure what to do because this is driving me crazy. I'm thinking of waiting for iOS7 to come out and see how it works. I know that Apple Maps is being updated too.  Not sure.
    Sorry for the rant.

  • Attachment issue

I'm having this attachment issue since last 6 months or so, before I was sending around upto 10 jpg attachments through my curve, what happens now that even a small jpg image takes ages to remain in process of sending and than after some time I get error msg that msg could not be send "unknown error" My intelegent service provider Mobilink puts all blame to blackberry main server.

Your carrier should not say this to you. Blaming RIM will not take away the responsibilty of your carrier!! If RIM is to be blamed then carrier should escalate the issue to RIM. They can't take such a long time to resolve!!!
I'm considering that you're on BIS service. All the BES users should consult with their respective BES admins.

  • Office 2010 standard attachment issue

    Hi All,
We have encounter an attachment issue when we upgraded the MS office from Office XP to Office 2010. When we attach 2 or more attachments (I tried .PDF or .JPG). Office application will not response and the outlook trace icon will appear "Outlook is
retrieve data from exchange server". The attachment will appear at the message after 5-10 mins (The longest time was ~45mins to attach a 1MB .pdf).
I also tried to disable the outlook add-ins and run as safe mode (run outlook /safe). But the problem still exist.
Our exchange server is running at version 6.5.7638.1
    Best Regards,
    Samuel Chu

    Hi,
The "retrieve data" popups are usually an indication that the client is taking unusually long time to receive information back from the server, or contact the server. The causes for the popups are:
       - Exchange server performance problems
       - client (or add-in) problems
       - network related issues
       - large number of items in mailboxes
       - Active Directory related issues (performance issues etc)
Does this issue happen to all your clients or just a few users? If it happens to just a few users, please first make sure the mailbox size is not too large. Make sure these users don't have a large number of items in a folder. See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905803
If all or major of your clients are experiencing this issue, then the problem is most likely server related (or network on the server side related), I'd recommend you post a question in the Exchange forum to get further assistance:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/home?category=exchangeserver
For more information, you can refer to this blog article:

    Hope this helps.

  • Mail attachment issues in full screen apps

This is an interesting issue.  So far it only occurs with MS Excel.  When Mail is open as a full screen app and I open an xlsx file attached to a mail message the screen shifts back over to the desktop screen as it should, but the Excel window remians locked with the Mail full screen app.  At this time, I cannot swipe back over to Mail, it just shifts back over to the desktop screen every time I try.  The only resolution that I have found so far is to quite Mail from my dock icon and relaunch.  This then moves the Excel window to my desktop screen.
I wonder if this is only an issue with programs that do not suppport full screen apps.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Marc

Have you tried toggling - Command, Control, F
If you do a 5 finger swipe up do you see Apple Mail as it's own desktop?  If so when you expand Apple Mail use the green traffic dot in the upper left side instead of the full screen double arrow on the upper right side.

    Hi,
We are using function module so_new_document_att_send_api1 for sending mail with text document. It was working fine 4.7 system but in ECC system it is sending blank attachement with mail. Program remain same and no changes in that. I have attached code. please advise how to resolve this issue.

    Hello Venu,
Move attachment to packinglist internal table and clear lt_packing_list-transf_bin as below.
I copied your code and did some correction.
    *  lt_packing_list-transf_bin  = 'X'.
       lt_packing_list-head_start  = 2.
       lt_packing_list-head_num    = 1.
       lt_packing_list-body_start  = LINES( lt_mailtxt ) + 1.
APPEND LINES OF lt_attachment TO lt_mailtxt.
       lt_packing_list-body_num    = LINES( lt_attachment ).
lt_packing_list-doc_type    = 'RAW'. " You can give RAW incase if you want just a txt file.
       lt_packing_list-obj_name    = 'data.txt'.
       lt_packing_list-obj_descr   = 'data.txt'.
       lt_packing_list-doc_size    = lt_packing_list-body_num * 255.
       APPEND lt_packing_list. CLEAR lt_packing_list.
In FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_ATI1, no need to pass the ITAB attachment i fyou can merge everything to ITAB packing list.

  • Attachment issues in Mail and Outlook

We recently started to upgrade computers to Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and have discovered a frustrating issue. Sending attachments from the mail app (.jpgs, sending zipped files is not an option) to PC's running Outlook (all current versions I believe), the jpgs come through as embedded, not as attachments.
Although this would seem minor, there is no way to:
    A. Grab multiple files and download them. It's "right click file 1", "right click file 2" etc. and then B. The files then lose their original names, rendering them useless for the back and forth editing we need to do.
I've tried changing from Rich Text to Plain Text, Send Windows friendly attachments On and Off, and every other work around offered here:
How can I prevent mail attachments embedding when sending mail
How can I prevent mail attachments embedding when sending mail short of purchasing the "Attachment Tamer" because, come on, Mail has always worked before, why do I need to buy an add-on to do my work now?
Any thoughts or ideas, would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

FND_LOBS stores information about all LOBs managed by the Generic File Manager (GFM).
Each row includes the file identifier, name, content-type, and actual data. Each row also
includes the dates the file was uploaded and will expire, the associated program name and
tag, and the language and Oracle characterset.
The file data, which is a binary LOB, is stored exactly as it is uploaded from a client browser,
which means that no translation work is required during a download to make it HTTP compliant.
Therefore uploads from non-browser sources will have to prepare the contents
appropriately (for instance, separating lines with CRLF).
The program_name and program_tag may be used by clients of the GFM for any purpose,
such as striping, partitioning, or purging the table if the program is de-installed.
    They are otherwise strictly informative.
These columns and the expiration date are properly set when the
procedure FND_GFM.CONFIRM_UPLOAD is called. If not called, the column
expiration_date remains set, and will eventually be purged by the procedure
    FND_GFM.PURGE_EXPIRED.
    FND_DOCUMENTS_LONG_RAW stores images and OLE
Objects, such as Word Documents and Excel
spreadsheets, in the database. If the user elects
to link an OLE Object to the document, this table
stores the information necessary for Oracle Forms
to activate the OLE server, and it saves a
bit-mapped image of the OLE server's contents.
If the user does not elect to link an OLE Object,
the entire document will be stored in this table.
    FND_DOCUMENTS_LONG_TEXT stores information about
    long text documents.
    FND_DOCUMENTS_SHORT_TEXT stores information about
    short text documents.

  • Mail attachement issues

I am having trouble attaching files in mail

I just started having this same problem this morning after upgrading, however, I was able to find a temporary solution.
    - Open up a new message.
    - Click the "clip" as you would attaching a file.
(Of course, you won't see the file being attached as this is the problem in the first place)
    - Command-Q to force quit Mail
    - Re-open the Mail
    - You should be able to see the file you attached to the New Email you have created.
Although this does not provide a permanent fix to this issue, at least you can continue and finish whatever you are doing for now.

  • Mail attachment issue with Maverick

I have just downloaded OS Maverick and apart from a few minor issues, I am having a major one with Mail.
When I try to attached a file / document it does not give me the option to select them from Finder. This is a huge problem for me, am I missing something?

Click the paperclip icon in the toolbar of the message window.

  • APEX - Cocoon PDF Generates as attachment (issue)

    Hello,
[bumped as issue has come to light again, does anyone have any ideas???]
We have Application Express 3.01 with PDF printing configured the Apache Tomcat + Cocoon way. Our APEX instance runs over https on an internal network.
Everything works with no issues, except that in the environment that we are running, browsers are IE configured with an advanced option "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" set (for security reasons related to another application).
PDF's are served as attachments, this means that when you click the "Print PDF" link you are presented with an Open/ Save dialogue. If you click "Open", the file fails to open (as it has not been saved to disk). Everything is fine if you click "Save" then subsequently open the file. It's the same deal with CSV files using the standard APEX CSV generation. If we turn off the security option in IE, it all works fine, even the "Open", but rolling this change out to users is not an option.
This issue comes down to the HTML that the PDF document is being wrapped in. The content-disposition must be being set to "attachment", whereas in this situation we would prefer it set to "inline" which would mean that the PDF opens in the users' browser.
We have tried adding a map:act type="set-header" line to the sitemap.xmap to set the content-disposition but it seems to have no effect, presumably because APEX fires off XML and FO to cocoon, gets back a PDF then generates the HTML to send back to the user.
    Other methods we've considered are:
    - Apache mod_rewrite entries to rewrite the content-disposition on the Apex web server.
    - Adding a before header application process to try to intercept the html and rewrite it manually
Neither of the above are getting us anywhere, does anyone have any ideas? If no-one has any ideas, can you explain how you get from posting a FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R request to getting back a PDF and whether there's anything along the way that could be tapped into?
Many thanks in advance for your assistance.
    Matt

    Matt,
On this note, it probably also makes sense to mention that with APEX 3.1 we introduce a PL/SQL API that gives you much broader control over what is generated how and the method it's made available to the client. You'll get the ability to retrieve the PDF in a BLOB directly on the server, store in your own tables for later download or send via email attachment. You'll also get the ability to write your own download process using after-submit page processes. And you can have combinations of your own XML with your own stylesheets, or combine report queries with customer stylesheets at runtime, or just simply retrieve the results of pre-defined report queries / report layouts in BLOBs.
I'll talk about this much more on my Blog once 3.1 is out, and will provide whitepapers, how-to's etc
    Regards,
    Marc

  • Create Attachment issue in storing the document

We are facing an issue in tranaction PR05 (Travel Expense Manager) on services object for Create Attachment. We would like to know is there anyway/manage to find any setting so that the u201CCreate Attachmentu201D  would result in storing the document on the content server like the u201CStore Business Documentu201D does.
    Please advise and confirm.
    Thanks & regards
    AK

I try to answer based on my understanding.
If you want to store the document in the server when attaching the document in Services for object, it can be done.
You have to define the directory in the server where the documents are to be stored. Also you need to define a naming convention for all the files which need to be stored in the directory.
Then you have to programatically enable the services for object to store the files in the directory created for that purpose. Also on clicking, you should programatically enable the document fetching from the directory by making use of the naming convention.

  • Email excel attachment issues

    Hi All,
My requirement is to convert the alv output to an excel and send it to email in background processing.
Am creating the headers through the field cat headings as the headings are dynamic.
And the item data through the output internal table of ALV.
My issue is always the second row's first column is taking spaces in the start because of this the data starts getting truncated.
Am using a tab delimter to seprate 2 fields and at the end of a row am using line breaker cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf.
the below is how am filling the packing lists.
    Fill Packing List For body
      lw_packing_list-transf_bin = space.
      lw_packing_list-head_start = 1.
      lw_packing_list-head_num = 0.
      lw_packing_list-body_start = 1.
      DESCRIBE TABLE lt_message LINES  lw_packing_list-body_num.
      lw_packing_list-doc_type = 'RAW'.
      APPEND lw_packing_list TO lt_packing_list.
      clear lw_packing_list.
Fill the fields of the packing_list for creating the attachment:
      lw_packing_list-transf_bin = lc_x.
      lw_packing_list-head_start = 1.
      lw_packing_list-head_num = 1.
      lw_packing_list-body_start = 1.
      DESCRIBE TABLE t_attach LINES lw_packing_list-body_num.
       lw_packing_list-doc_type =  lv_format.
       lw_packing_list-obj_descr = lv_attdesc.
      lw_packing_list-doc_size = lw_packing_list-body_num * 255.
      APPEND lw_packing_list TO lt_packing_list.
    Fill the mail recipient list
      lw_reclist-rec_type = 'U'.
      lw_reclist-com_type = 'INT'.
      LOOP AT t_recipient_list INTO w_recipient_list.
        lw_reclist-receiver = w_recipient_list-ZSMTP_ADR.
        APPEND lw_reclist TO lt_reclist.
      ENDLOOP.
I have surfed the google and SDN but could not find any solution to my problem Please help guys..

  • Extended Notification - Attachment issue

    Hi Experts,
I configured Extended notification and its working is fine.
But the issue is attachment is not coming with the notification.
Actually the work item has the two attachments and in Portal UWL i can able to see the attachments.
But the notification triggered by Extended notification, there is no attachment.
The notification should have the attachments as like work item.
Can any one help me on this?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Nandini.

    Hi Sriram,
"The job for the SWN_SELSEN report checks whether there is a schedule that needs to be executed. If this is the case, the report selects work items or delivers notifications and sets a time stamp. If the schedule was not executed at the intended time, this is indicated in the time stamp. The schedule is executed the next time the job is started."
Take a look at this link.
