Attachment won't open on one iPhone, but works fine on the other. Why?

2 iPhones with the same iOS version receive 1 email with an attachment from an Outlook user: one iPhone can open the attachment, the other can't (it only shows as winmail.dat). Why is this and how can I get it to open? Thanks!

The quickest way to do this is to create a clone copy of your existing internal Macintosh HD. You can create this copy using applications like Data Backup, Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper!.
I use an external USB HDD for the clone copies.

Safari won't open for one user but does for other

I have 2 users on my mac. Out of nowhere, the Safari application will not open when I am logged in but works fine with my other user (where I am currently writing from). When I'm logged in, it hangs but the application never opens...just the searching colored ball over the application headings at the top making have to force quit to do anything else. I have the most recent version of everything and haven't even updated or installed anything within the last week. Just stopped working. I've read many different suggestions about removing plug ins and other files from various libraries. I do not have the Leopard install disks to try re-installing as it was installed at the genius bar for me as my DVD drive does not read any install disks. I'm at a total loss. How can it work with one user and not another--it's the same computer...Thanks.

OK--So I kept searching through all the discussions for other possible solutions....each time removing some file and putting it on my desktop and trying again. Well something worked. I have the following folders now on my desktop that were removed
Hard drive > Users > Your username > Library > Safari > Downloads.plist
Hard drive > Users > Your username > Library > Safari > History.plist
Hard drive > Users > Your username > Library > Safari > formvalues
Hard drive > Users > Your username > Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist
Hard drive > Users > Your username > Library > Cookies > cookies.plist
Hard drive > Library > InputManagers
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > InputManagers
Hard drive > Users > Your username> Library > Caches > com.apple.safari
Hard drive > Users > Your username> Library > Caches >Metadata > Safari
The last file I dragged to the desktop was the form values folder. No idea what actually worked but it's up and running and actually moving faster than before.
Question now is do I trash all these folders I dragged out to the desktop? Or do some need to go back? Any other safari maintenance I should do now that it's open? I emptied the cache and cleared the history. Just trying to be preventative. Thanks iBod for your suggestions and I hope this helps someone else as it appears that many have had this issue.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Select a broken track and press ctrl-i to Get Info. Look on the summary tab for the location where iTunes "thinks" the file should be. Where is it really? Post back the two locations and I can suggest the best approach.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue - wifi is connected but the web browser won't open - gives message that computer is offline. It works fine on ethernet and also on other computers in house. no other modem or devices in home.

Captivate 5 won't open after clicking icon, but shows up in the task manager as a "Process". Help??

Can you please give me step by step help? I think I may have to uninstall and reinstall, but I want that to be a last effort.

Please verify the following --
1) If you reboot your machine and the problem still exists?
2) If yes, then you might try verifying in case you have dual monitor and the application might be opened on second montior (which could be disconnected may be)
3) Is the problem persists, try recreating your preferences --
on Xp: C:Documents and Settings\Local SettingsApplication DataAdobeCaptivate 5
- on Vista/Win7:C:Users\AppDataLocalAdobeCaptivate 5
and then relaunch. Let me know if it still doesn't work.

Mouse won't scroll for one User but works for another

I recently updated to a new Imac and restored the computer from time machine from our old IMac which didn't have mountain lion update. All works fine except when logged onto our Kids account the mouse wont scroll pages by sliding finger on the mouse. Tried changing in Preferences when logged on to this user to no avail. Mouse scrolls perfectly when logged on as Administrator.

Were these Kids' account migrated from the older OS version? If so I suspect some 3rd party app that is no longer working in 10.8
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD into one of those accounts, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode...
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed. Also look in System Preferences' Other row.

Earphone not working on my iPhone but works fine on my laptop

Whenever i use my earphone on my iPhone 4s, there's no sounds coming out on one of my earphone with the remote and mic(i mean the remote and mic works but no sounds from the earpiece) while the other one works fine. I tried using my earphone on my macbook pro, and it worked fine. I can hear sounds from both of them with my laptop. mmmmmmwhat can i do to fix it ?

i also tried logging out on all devices iphone and ipad ane logged back in but it still won't activate on my ipad but does on my iphone...i also tried reset settings...still the same problem...my timezone is also set to automatic...i've basically tried all options i can find in the net and still no luck...please help....

Podcast episodes won't download in iTunes app (but works fine on desktop)

Hi, I can't figure this out:
Our podcast episodes simply won't download in the iTunes app on iPhone. The download simply stops at 10.3 kB (or sometimes at another value), without really getting started at all.
This is very odd, since downloads are working fine in iTunes on the desktop, and in other apps on the phone (such as Instacast).

OK, seems like I located the problem - sort of. It's not the feed that's the issue, but rather the fact that I'm pushing my MP3-files through a PHP script which does some statcounting. If I access the MP3 files directly, the iTunes app downloads them OK.
So I'm guessing maybe my headers aren't exactly what the iTunes app is expencting? Here's a snippet from the PHP file which outputs the MP3 data:

I have downloaded music from cd's onto my itunes on my computer, however we use the same computer for 2 iphones in our house and i cannot transfer music from the itunes on our computer to the second iphone, but its fine on the first? help?!

Any ideas on how i can transfer music?
