Attachments and signatures messing up

Mine is the lone Mac in a sea of PCs here at work. The PCs are complaining that my pdf and jpg attachments are coming across as embedded images instead of attachments. I've started zipping every file I send to avoid the problem. Is there something easier I can do?
Also, when I include an attachment with one of my e-mails, I'm getting reports that my signature doesn't show up. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the help.

Are these PCs using Windows Outlook as their email client?
RTF with Tiger Mail is really HTML and Outlook has problems with Mail's RTF depending on the Outlook version used by the recipient.
If you are using RTF for message composition, try using Plain Text instead.

  • Email images and signatures not displaying cross platform??

I have noticed something odd when emailing people who are using windows. For some reason, attachments and signatures that are images (.jpg files that WILL open in a browser on the PC) or PDF's do not show up in the body of the email I send to them. Yet they are using HTML email, and emails they send to ME do have images showing up correctly in both the body of the email and the signatures on my Mac. Is there something on my end that I need to do in the formating to make this cross platform? Has anyone else run into this?
I'm confused, I thought HTML was HTML....

Same here... in Outlook 2007 many times the Mac email signature ends up as an HTM attachment... Any news on this odd behavior!

  • Forwarded messages and Signature show up as many attachments

    Hi,
Whenever I send or forward an email (OsX 10.3.8 - Mail 6.3) that has attachments to a Win based Outlook (2010) it changes the attachments, my signature and the body text to several different attachments like, (Unitled attachment 00336.htm etc.) also with some blank htm files with similar names.
The receiver of the email needs to go through the many attachments one by one trying to make sense of all which is unprofessional. In most of the cases they dont and just delete the email which has a blank body.
But when I send an email with no attachments then my signature and the body text of the email shows un-alterd.
I would appreciate a solution on this as I dont want to be forced to go back and start using Win based mail client.
    Thanking you all in advance.

Well its back to using Outlook for professional and Mac mail for leisure purposes untill this problem is resolved.
I would still appreciate a response if and when there is a solution to this problem as I still want to revert to Mac mail.
    Regards.

  • Mail attachments and forwarding as attachments

Since upgrading to Yosimite 10.10.1 Mail will not work with attachments saying that it cannot find the downloads folder.  If you forward as an attachment the icon is not in mail format or recognised.

    Hi Chateaubugs
Open Mail.app, make sure you see the Message Viewer window.
Click on the menu Edit > Attachments and enable
    - Always send windows-friendly attachments
    - Always insert attachment at the end of the message.
Outlook is not good at showing embedded media content from Mail.app. It likes to have them, where it's expecting them - at the end of a message.
A hint: Make sure you have at least a part of your message (for example your signature) typed before you attach a file to a message. This is because of a small issue when attaching mails at the end of a message: If you have nothing typed, there is no end to attach to. It will fail.

  • Jpg attachments and Windows

In Mail I have always attached jpgs so that they appear included within the text (on my Mac). I had set "Windows-Friendly attachments" and "Rich Text format". I've done it that way for years and had assumed that recipients of the mails would see them as I wrote them. But now I discover that friends using Windows end up with some mess that involves lots of separate attachments (and I fear that folk have never been reading half of my mails up till now ).
Looking in this forum and elsewhere on the Net I see that that is just the way it is. I must say, I was shocked. Though I understand that mail programs differ on various systems, I would have expected that (by the 21st century) mails would be delivered as they were sent, at least for handling pretty straightforward layout features.
Is there no way I can get my mails delivered as I want them to go?

My latest attempt was with 'Edit->Attachments->Always Insert Attachments at End of Message' and with 'Rich Text'. That now seems to be giving me the effect I want, i.e. with photos included inline in the text.
Whitecity - I want html mails. Why should I not use things like like cursive fonts, differing font sizes, etc., just because I'm using a computer? These features have been developed for correspondence and printing over centuries and simplify the understanding of messages. Or can I do all these things in plain text?

  • Problem with attachments and antivirus.scanners

    Hi!
Problem is: Sending any attachment from Tiger (10.4.8) mail, all attachments are removed by a virus scanner at receiving end:
This message was modified by F-Secure Anti-Virus E-Mail Scanning.
Tried Windows friendly, text only, repair permissions, sending under other isp etc. no help.
If this same message with same attachment is send from next mac with Panther, it is received ok.
Receiving company is big and wont alter their virus-scanners and the problem clearly lies in Tiger.
    Any help welcome.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The subject of your message should have been "Problems with attachments and F-Secure antivirus" since this is not a problem with all antivirus software, only with F-Secure.
Check this thread for a possible temporary solution when sending attachments to those who use F-Secure.

How can I disable the automatic hiding of known file attachments, and why are always about 10 internet pages where I have to download something when I use mozila firefox?
    Windows Computer

    1) If you are talking about the file names on the computer, there is a
setting to turn off known file types. Open your file browser. Then
just under the location bar, press '''Tools,''' then '''Folder Options.'''
A new window will open. Select '''View.''' Look for
'''Hide Extensions For Known File Types.'''
    2) Never NEVER '''NEVER''' download anything unless you know what
it is. If a web site claims it needs to download something, what is it?
It could be something like the flash player, '''or a virus ! !'''

  • How do I migrate settings and signature from one computer to another??

I have a new computer. I have installed Adobe X Pro on the new machine, and now I woudl like ot move my preferences and signatures over. What do I need to copy from one machine to the other???

You don't copy signatures, you'd copy digital ID files. The self-signed digital IDs that you create with Acrobat are saved as .pfx files (Win) or .p12 files (Mac). You can get the folder they're stored in via the Security Settings dialog in Acrobat:

    Hi Galla,
I have some doubts about your scenario, Is your scenario FTP to MAIL?,  do you want to send the file as attachment or you want the file content as mail body or where the body is taken? where is the signature, inside the file?
Meantime, you can check these documents about file-mail scenario:

  • Upgraded to Acrobat X and signature field stop working

Upgraded to Acrobat X and IntegriSign signature field stop working.  When I open the pdf and click on the signature field I get a "This plug-in is intended for validating signatures signed using earlier versions of Acrobat.  To sign using this version of Acrobat, use "IntegriSign for Acrobat 9.0 and later" handler.
Under Perferences in Acrobat, 9.0 and later is checked.
In LiveCycle Designer - IntegriSign  is indicated for Signature handler.
Can't figure out how to solve this.   I have uninstalled, reset IntegriSign and Adobe settings a trillion times!
    Please help!

I tried these steps several times.  Kinda long:
Here are the steps to setup ePad signatures with Adobe Acrobat 9 and later:
    >
    > You will need to create a self signed certificate (id) and have IntegriSign select this to be used with Acrobat. Here are the instructions:
    >
    > 1. In Adobe Acrobat choose Advanced > Security Settings.
    >
    > 2. Select Digital IDs on the left, and then click the Add ID button.
    >
    > 3. Select Create a Self-Signed Digital ID for Use with Acrobat, and click Next.
    >
    > 4. Specify Windows Certificate Store, to store the digital ID, and click next.
    >
    > 5. Type your name, email address, and other personal information for your digital ID. When you certify or sign a document, the name appears in the Signatures panel and in the signature field.
    >
    > If the computer is for public signing, you can replace your name with the name of the PC. It is not practical to have a digital id for every person that signs. IntegriSign will still ask for the signers name and signature.
    >
    > 6. Go to Windows start => all programs => IntegriSignDesktop => Desktop => Desktop Configuration => Select button (under certificate selection in the lower right of the window). At this time, you should see the digital id you just created.
    >
    > 7. Choose the certificate you just created, and click the OK button.
    >
    > 8. Go to Adobe Acrobat ->Edit -> Preferences -> Security, click on the Advanced button and make sure IntegriSign for acrobat 9 and later is selected as the default in the Creation. Also make sure the Verification is set to default method and the method is IntegriSign for Acrobat 9 and later.
    >
    > If IntegriSign is not an option then go under Edit/Preferences-->General (not Security) find the "Application Startup" checkbox 'Use only certified plug-in' CHECKED. Uncheck the box and repeat the first procedure.
    >
    > 9. Now, open a PDF file, and perform the signature using ePad, and should be able to sign.

You are welcome.  Just finished a chat session with an Apple support rep and confirmed the matte option no longer available.  Seems lots has changed since I bought my 17” 19 months back:).  They did say that there were after market screen films available from places like amazon
Have never used anything like that though.  My wife has a 2008 MBP 15” with gloss and I can say it is a nice screen finish, you just have to be careful of lighting from behind you.  All my iMacs were glossy and I did learn to compensate for the added brilliance the screen brought to the photos.  The new soft proofing feature of LR5 seems to better estimate the level of brightness of the printed work, compared to past versions of the s/ware.
In any case, in my opinion you really can’t go wrong with the apple product.  I bought my first iMac in mid 1999 and have never looked back.  I donated that machine to a pre-school in 2008, it was running OSX version 2 or 3 I think.  I did run Photoshop 7.0 on an IBM laptop for a time (windows XP).  I think I had one of the very first versions of Adobe Camera Raw on that machine.  I digress, sorry.
The chat representative did confirm that the 17” is out of production and I’m guessing Apple found the market for the big laptop just wasn’t there.  They did mention that 17” MBP’s show up as “certified refurbished” units from time to time.  Suggest you might explore that option with a local Apple store in the UK, assuming  Apple has store front operations off this continent of course.
Please feel free to contact me with further questions if you wish.
    Take care, Gordy
