Attachments corrupted

Hi
I cannot save or view word file attachments using iCloud on windows are any others having problems, I also don't know if when I send an email with a word file as an attachment, the receiver gets a corrupted file.

Mark, I don't know if you're still following this thread, but I've solved my problem.
The issue is bizarrre but seems to be connected with slow connections (I saw this mentioned elsewhere but had discounted it as rubbish!).  It seems the reason the pdf's will not display is that they are getting truncated by Mail.
What I did was to wait until I was connected to a fast internet connection and then rebuilt my mail box (under Mail | Mailbox | Rebuild).  I tried rebuilding the mailbox before but I was still connected with my phone and the problem persisted.
It seems to have fixed the issue for me.  Hope it may help you.

  • Mail.app- 'Remove Attachments' corrupting mails

I have a weird issue that I've not seen mentioned anywhere. Wondering if anyone can give me any debugging tips.
I'm using Mail 5.0 in Lion 10.6.1 (issue was occurring in 10.6.0 as well).
I have Mail connected to Exchange Server 2010.
I have a fairly tight restriction on mailbox sizes so I have to remove attachments from emails before I file them.
My problem is this; about 1 in 3 times I remove an attachment the 'replacement' e-mail is full of gibberish characters.
Typically if I look at the raw source of the e-mail then the text version of the mail is retained correctly- it seems to be the Base64 encoded version that is corrupted.
Any idea what I can do to debug this? I have tried removing the envelope files and removing/adding the account back in and re-syncing it but the issue has reappeared.
I've reported this to Apple on http://bugreports.apple.com but have not had a response.
    Thanks in advance.

Edward- do you mean Entourage mailbox or Exchange mailbox? i.e. are you using mail.app or Entourage/outlook as your mail client?
    Assuming you meant Exchange mailbox on mail.app, the steps you would take are simple;
    1- Save attachments
In the mail, click the 'Save' button (next to the 'Quicklook' button) to save all attachments to your normal folder (this folder is changeable in the settings- the default is to save to your 'Downloads' folder).
2- Move the mail to a local mailbox.
If you don't already have a local mailbox then select Menu: Mailbox/New Mailbox... and in the dialog box select 'On my Mac' to save the mailbox locally instead of on the Exchange server.
To move the message you select menu: Message/Move to... and select the local mailbox
    3- Remove attachments
View the local mailbox, select the message you moved in there and do menu: Message/Remove Attachhments
(I have added a keyboard shortcut for this as I do it a lot)
Because it's a local mailbox the message should be stripped of its attachments without corruption.
    4- File the message
Now that the message has been stripped of the attachments, file the message in whatever mailbox you want with menu: Message/Move to...
    Hope this helps.

  • Email attachments corrupted in Apple Mail

Hi, I just had to clean-install OS X Lion (10.7.3), I synched my e-mail accounts (Gmail apps account) with Apple Mail (5.3) and some attachments (mainly PDFs and DOCs) are now corrupted when trying to open up in Apple Mail. In the Google Mail web access the corrupted attachments can be opened perfectly. Has anybody experienced this issue?

  • Ipad 2 - email PDF attachments corrupt

I seem to be having trouble viewing PDF's on my Ipad2.  They read fine on my iphone and my mac and my work PC.  When I "open in" any reader I have same problem.  I tried Ibooks, goodreader, notesplus, Pdf provider and so on.  I get some graphics but then blurry or blackish boxey lines where words should be written.
I can open them in "cloud on" fine also.  Strange.
    Any comments?

    Greetings,
That is rather strange. Attachments are attachments.  The big difference between what will send and what won't is usually either who you are sending it to (wrong email address) or how big the attachment is (most email providers have a limit to the total message size between 10 MB and 20 MB).
-- What happens when you say you are "unable to email PDF attachments"?  What error message do you get?
-- Are you sending these emails using the Mail program?
-- What is the file size of the PDF you are trying to send?
-- What happens if you compress the PDF before you email it (Highlight the PDF on the desktop and then go to File > Compress) ?
-- What happens if you send the PDF to yourself?
    Cheers.

  • Jpg attachments corrupt under leopard mail and hang message

    I-phone: Message shows fine
Exchange on Leopard: Message shows up fine
Leopard Mail Dual PPC G5: Message hangs
Leopard Mail MacBook Pro Intel: Message hangs
The only way to see the corrupted message is to choose "forward as attachment". When opening it it shows that the jpg image looks to be the instigator..... (the old millions of lines of code issue)
    Anyone else having similar issues?

Same here. I have a client that uses outlook. He has an auto-signature in his mail client. Part of his signature is a JPG of his corporate logo. Every email he sends freezes (it says loading, but nothing happens... I haven't waiting long enough to see an error message). I called him and had him send a test with no logo. Works just fine. So, it is specifically the logo in his signature line that is causing the error.

  • Corrupt font

I have a corrupt font problem! We have a PC running Windows XP SP3 I have previously installed a Labview program, built using labview 2009, and it has installed fine with no problems with the font.A colleague of mine has created an installer with Labview 2009 – SP1,  installed it and the menu font became corrupt! He has installed it on other computers with no problem. I took Labview completely off the computer and re-installed the program build using Labview 2009 (without SP1) and the fonts are still corrupt. Can anyone explain what is going on and how to solve it?

    Hello TC_Magic,
As you pointed out yourself, this is a problem very specific with that particular PC. Nothing similar has been reported before, and since your appication deploys fine on other PCs, then we can only look more closely at settings on the computer where the issue appears.
Are there other languages installed on Windows? If you go to your Control Panel and navigate to your "Regional and Language Options", then you can select the "Languages" tab and click on the "Details" button. Can you see other languages installed there? This might be the root of this problem.
This, in combination with the language support you select in your Application properties in the Build Specifications of your LabVIEW project, will cause the menu of your executable to adopt to different languages. Go into your project, open your Build Specifications for your executable, then select the "Run-Time Languages" from the Category section, and then uncheck the "Support all languages" option. Then, uncheck all languages apart from English, and click on "Build". Redeploy your application and check if this fixed the problem.
Let us know how you get on.
    Kind Regards,

    Hi obarriel,
that could be a tricky job as LV2013 claims "block diagram can't be opened"!
Meanwhile you should learn two things:
    - using LLBs isn't recommend practice nowadays (atleast not for storing daily work VIs)
    - make a backup of your works on a regular basis (using SVN/GIT is recommended too…)

  • TortoiseSVN committed files that weren't changed and corrupted them

    Hi all,
A colleague used my working copy to perform some changes. He then committed everything. Even though he did not change the classes in a subfolder, TSVN committed them as well. All the classes are now corrupt - the Class VIs do not recognize the class (attached). This is for every class in the project.
To make sure nothing was in fact changed I used lvdiff and the TSVN log, and no differences are shown and both versions show a broken arrow (even though the previous version worked fine).
If I try to go back to the previous revision in the working copy, it doesn't work (still a broken arrow). Only if I take a completely new folder and checkout the older revision do I get my classes back. However, the updates my colleaugue did are important.
Does anyone have any idea what could cause this, what I can do about it and how I can prevent this happening again?
    Thanks,
    Danielle

You may be able to get the new Mac to "inherit" the old one's backups manually.  See #B6 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
But the practice of deleting originals, assuming Time Machine will keep the backups indefinitely, is a major mistake.  See  Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #20.

  • Font Problem in Project Explorer

I am running LabVIEW 2013 SP1 and I just installed DAQmx 9.8. After installation it appears that something has changed with my fonts all throughout LabVIEW. The fonts keep getting cut off or cropped. This applies to everything from the splash screen, to project explorer to some of my VI font sizes. I went and verified my "System Font" and "Application Font" settings but didn't seem to resolve the issue. See the attached picture

  • Storage space full of residual data

The storage space on my iphone 4s is suddenly completely filled with residual data.
There 's no data space left. How can I delete these data?

Restore your iPhone by plugging it in to iTunes, letting it sync, then choosing "Restore" from thei iPhone's summary page.
"Other" can fill up with deleted emails (especially large attachments), corrupt data especially from suspicious apps.  If the restore from backup doesn't work, try restoring as new and be very careful about keeping suspecious apps.

  • Mail is corrupting PDF attachments

about 25% of the PDF files I receive as attachments show as an icon in the top part of the msg, but also show as unreadable hex "text" in the bottom part of the msg.
If I click on the PDF ICON in Mail.app, it opens fine in PREVIEW.APP
IF I forward any mail with this sort of PDF Attachment (showing as "text" at the bottom) to a windows user, they can NOT open the file... Adobe Acrobat Reader says the file is corrupt.
A corollary is - a LOT of the PDF files I receive from an e-fax service as PDF files show as CORRUPT on the Mac, but open FINE on Windows (Adobe Acrobat Reader).. saying the file is not "correctly encoded"
This is a SERIOUS PROBLEM... If I can't get mail to reliably open and forward PDF files to Windows users, I have no choice but to give up on Mail.app and use Windows...
I have to deal with way too many PDF files as attachments to worry that every one I send may be corrupt to some windows user.
IF apple would give us a way to submit one of these files, I would gladly do so... but apparently from MAIL.APP they do not!
    Any ideas?

    Keith,
    I saw your other post.
With problem Forwarding, try this again, but before sending, click on Format in the Menubar, and choose Make Plain Text. Then let me know what happens.
I do not you have a transmission problem. The problem in the other topic, with Walter, is still under review, but has been traced to only be with that one IMAP server, and regardless of which network you are connected to.
The text at the bottom may be a clue that that Rich Text is being converted to HTML at some point, and the HTML has compromised the content of the PDF.
Feel free to send me an example, by email. My address can be found by clicking on my name.

  • File extensions become corrupted when sending attachments in Mail

    Hi,
Since I upgraded to Leopard the file extensions on attachments that I send in Mail are corrupted in transit. The problem is not irremediable: .doc may change to .doc00 or .docis or something like that. The recipient can delete the extra characters when saving or opening the attachment, and the file is intact. But this is a bit of a bore, as I have to send attachments all the time. It doesn't matter whether I send from my iMac G5 or my MacBookPro, and it doesn't matter whether the recipient has a Mac or a PC.
    Any collective wisdom out there?
    Many thanks,
    Anna

Some people have found that not having accented characters or spaces in the file name cures it. The bug has been reported.

  • Why are my received file attachments (Office files such as .doc, .docx, .xlsx but also pdf files) corrupted - so that I cannot open them?

For the last month, 90% of the file attachments that I receive by email will not open on my MacBook Pro (2009, running Mac OS 10.7.5). I get assorted messages, but generally saying that the file is corrupt, or the filename contains unacceptable characters. The problem has been generally with Word files (.doc and .docx)], Excel files (.xls and .xlsx) and pdf files.
The bit that I don't understand is that I can open the same email attachments (without any problem) when downloaded on my iMac. And I have recently found that colleagues who received the same emails can open them, and can transfer the files to me (usually by USB stick) … and then I can open them. But I still cannot open the same files received as email attachments on my MacBook Pro.
Which makes me think that the files (email attachments) are somehow being corrupted as they are downloaded?
I installed the Mac OS X Update Combined 10.7.5 in July, so perhaps this was when the problem started? And, although it may be unrelated, around the same time as this problem started, I transferred some files from a colleague's computer on a USB stick and found that the USB stick had picked up a virus/malware, which meant that the stick was dead, and I had to reformat the stick. I scanned my computer (using ClamXav, with the latest updates) and quarantined a file found on the USB stick and on my computer.
Any thoughts on why this might happen, and what I can do to sort it out (as it is making work very difficult - I travel a lot, and rely on being able to open and read files sent from countries all over the world, often by people using old versions of Office software)? I have never had problems in the past, and can't understand why my other computer, and my colleagues, can all open these files, but my laptop will not! Many thanks for any help!

I opened one of the PDF files in notepad and these are the first couple lines:

  • Missing or corrupt PDF Attachments from Outook

My company uses a software package to auto create customer invoices as PDF documents which it then attaches these to a Plain Text email within Outlook 2003 which are then sent out to our customers email addresses.
The server running this program is using Win Server 2003 SP2 and Office 2003 Outlook to create & send the email.
Some customers see the PDF attachment ok, i.e those using Outlook, others using Hotmail, AOL, Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird are all experiencing problems like missing attachments - Outllook Express / Thunderbird, Corrupt Files - Hotmail /AOL.
Is this to do with Internet Settings in Mail Format of Outlook, this is currently set as Plain Text without UUENCODE and HTML in pictures is checked.
    Can anyone help?
    John.

    Hey John,
You may want to look into how your application is building the PDF. I had a very similar issue with almost the exact scenario you are having. Do some searching around PDF and "dot stuffing". The problem I had related to where the binary stream of the PDF began, there were extra  dots (.) inserted causing the data to be invalid when the client attempted to read the encoding.
I believe it was a bug in the VB .net object itself (the code was fine) , I cant recall the version, perhaps v2 ??

  • Corrupted attachments in Mail

    Hi
I know this has been posted many times in the past, but I have found that anyone has had the problem resolved, so I thought I'd make another post.
Basically it goes like this... Almost all attachments sent or received by Mail corrupt. Some badly so they will not open, some not so bad, so they are illegible or appear fragmented.
The attachments are fine when downloaded directly from my webmail, or when I use another application such as Entourage (I'd rather not switch applications, I like Mail and its free).
As I keep my emails stored on my server for a week or so I have been able to create another user and try downloading the same emails through here again in Mail. The attachments still corrupt, but not in the same way, some that were corrupted aren't and vise versa.
It strikes me that this is a problem with the application itself, but will a reinstall help, or is it likely to be a system issue somehow?

    Hi Ayman
Thanks for replying. This has unfortunately not worked for me. The problem has been a proper and thorough corruption. All attachments would corrupt going in and out. Receivers would complain of unrecognisable formats. And received messages would become scrambled.
To confuse things, If I If I reinstalled as a new user and downloaded everything again JPEG attachments would corrupt but in a different way.
Any way, to cut a long story short we opted to send the Mac in question off to some teccy guys, who scratched their heads for a few days. The problem has been identified as a faulty hard drive. Although the hardware test showed no error, the problem mysteriously vanished with the addition of a replacement drive.
