Attachments Cox Communications
I noticed an article detailing difficulties receiving sent images.
I use Cox Communications as my ISP. For the last two-three weeks, any image sent to me via e-mail, either embedded or attached, takes 'seems like foreve'r to open.
I've thought maybe Cox had installed some fancy new filtering system. My e-mail preferences have been checked and rechecked. Nothing out of sync.
Any suggestions, anyone.

Is there a network/ethernet jack you can plug your router into? If so plug a network cable from the jack to the internet port on your router. Then another cable from the 1, 2, 3, or 4 port on the back of the router to a PC. Now access the routers user interface by opening your browser and typing in http://192.168.1.1 into the address field. That should open the routers log on window and by default the user if left blank (some routers the user is admin) and the password is admin. That should get you into the routers set up and make sure the router is set to Obtain IP address automatically. Then go to the status tab and make sure it shows a WAN IP address. If so you are on line. So if you plan on using the wireless option go to the wireless tab. From there change the SSID to something other then linksys so you can identify your wireless network. Then go to the security tab and set up what ever security you need.
Here is a link you may find other hints. You should print it out and give it to the other Condo owners.
(Mod note: Inserted hyperlink to keep other browser from stretching.)

I have an older Imac running 10.6.8 with 4 GB capacity. Cox Communications just updated the email service, now I cannot attach a document to an email. Cox says my operating system not compatible. Any suggestions?
If Firefox doesn't work, check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

Email issues with iP4, Cox Communications
So I convinced my mother to get an iPhone 4 yesterday, and I have been setting it up for her.
She has Cox Communications (omaha, ne) email, and the AT&T guy told me it should be easy to set up her email on the phone.
I set it up with her name, email, password, etc on the phone, but the phone wouldnt download any messages to the inbox?
It can recieve the emails I send as tests, but it wont recieve messages from my dad or others that show up in her outlook on her computer.
I went to the Apple store here in omaha, but he just deleted the account and reset it up and the problem still is there. we logged on to the webmail version of the email, and it was also empty. But she still had messages on her Outlook on her computer, but they wouldnt transfer to the phone.
She can still recieve my emails from both my own iphone and macbook.
I am totally at a loss. The Apple guy who helped us could send her an email and it showed up (on both the Outlook and the iPhone), but no other messages will. He said it was probably an issue with Cox, and to call them. But when I called them earlier (first step to try to resolve the issue, before driving out to the Apple store), they just gave me the servers for incoming and outgoing, along with ports, and they said to go to Apple if it still didnt work. Then I had the Apple guy direct me back to Cox.
I'm getting the run around, and no solutions.
Any help?Note this procedure may be a little different depending on the version of Outlook.
Open Outlook. Click "Tools" on the top menu bar. Select "Account Setting". Click on the name of the account.(on the "E-Mail" tab). Click on "Change". Click on "More Settings". Click on the "Advanced" tab. If not checked, click on the check box for "Leave a copy of the message on the server" -
When I updated my MacBook Air to the newest vwesion of Mountain Lion, because of the seurity fix.
My CoxCommunications outgoing mail server no longer works.
I called COX and they indicated that they had received thousands of calls asking for help with the same issue,
Any halp would be appreciated...

Problem opening docx Word attachments in Communications Express
We have a problem where some Word documents of the .docx type won't open properly in IE. IE will treat the docx file as a zip file, and offer to open it up using zip, instead of Word. The strange thing is that some docx files open fine into word, but others don't. Also, we have yet to see any such problem in Firefox. The basic work-arounds are to right-click on the attachment link and save, and then open it in Word, or to suggest the user uses Firefox.
We're at a point where we think the problem is with the version of Word (or OpenOffice or whatever) that creates the document, and that it's putting weird things into the headers of the document. Our thought was that adding "docx" to the MIME types for Word could fix the problem, so I did the following on our test system. I opened up /var/opt/SUNWwbsvr7/https-{SERVER-HOSTNAME}/config/mime.types and changed the following line:
type=application/msword exts=doc,dot,wiz,rtf
to read:
type=application/msword exts=doc,dot,wiz,rtf,docx
I then stopped the webserver, removed the cached(generated) files, start the webserver, deleted the cache on IE and tried again. IE still treats the docx file as a ZIP file. Our patch level for UWC is 122793-30.
Is there some other place to look at for modifying MIME types for UWC?Kdcypher wrote:
On our test server, which has both UWC & Messaging Server running on the same box (in prod, these functions are on separate hardware), I made these changes in /var/opt/sun/comms/messaging64/config/mappings and [same_path]/conversions, which I understand to be the config dir for the back-end Messaging Server (in case you hadn't guessed, I'm not necessarily our mail guru, but his plate is extremely full at the moment, and I'm getting to learn more about Messaging Server by working this problem). Do I need to be setting this up elsewhere, as in under UWC?You only need to configure these files at the MTA level. Make sure the conversions file is owned by the messaging server user/group (mailsrv:mail by default).
Also make sure the mappings entry is exactly how I provided (including leading spaces).
My testing yesterday, using your configuration suggestions, was all from Firefox, which could explain why your code wasn't working because (as I understand it) your code was set to convert anything with a content-type of "application/x-zip-compressed" and would ignore anything with "application/octet-stream"You can add additional rules to the conversions file to handle the various scenarios.
So it did not get changed by the server. Please provide the mail.log_current entry for the above attempt.
Is there any way to tell "imsimta cnbuild" to be verbose and actually tell me what it's doing? The cnbuild command compiles the MTA configuration files. It either works or it doesn't.
Or is there a log file that contains details of what it's doing? You can enable more verbose MTA logging e.g.
=> add "slave_debug" to the source channel (e.g. tcp_intranet) in the MTA imta.cnf file
=> add MM_DEBUG=3 to the MTA option.dat file
=> run ./imsimta cnbuild;./imsimta restart
=> re-run your test, this should result in a file called tcp_local_slave.log-<something>
In that file you should see something like the following:

12:22:48.59: IN-TYPE pattern: application, actual type: application
12:22:48.60: IN-SUBTYPE pattern: x-zip-compressed, actual subtype: x-zip-compressed

Any other Cox users having trouble sending?
Was just wondering if any other cox communications email users are having trouble sending email when using 3G? When I'm home and connected to my wifi, it's fine. but as soon as I leave the house and try to send from my cox accounts, it tells me the sender's address is invalid, even though it's not. it does this for everyone...not just one recipient.
Cox is one of the ISPs which blocks the outgoing port 25 outside of their network.
On your iPhone, go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Your email account.
Tap on SMTP.
On the next screen you should see a list of secondary servers.
Tap on AT&T SMTP server.
Turn the Server ON.
Go back out and you should be able to connect when away from your home network. -
Modbus Protocol Communication using RS 485
Hi all,
I am facing one problem while communicating with Radix Instrument using Modbus RS 485 Interface.can anybody help me in this,
The instrument which i am going to communicate is Radix ISOSCAN(16 Channel Temperature Scanner).
The instrument is having Modbus RS 485 interface facility.
To that instrument,RS 485 Configuration is there. And I am using RS 485 to RS 232 Converter for communicating with my PC.
I downloaded Modbus VI Library from NI and I programmed using Modbus VIs.
I got the instrument Register Addresses also. From this instrument,I want to read 16 channel temperature values. For this,in Modbus terminology we will call as Process Variables(PV).
For this,I used Read Input Registers(Function Code 04) and I have doubt in configuring Starting Address terminal of "MB Serial Master Query.vi".Because,here if we see the datatype of this terminal,it is U16.But if we see the Instrument register addresses,it is of floating point type.
Actually first of all I am not getting any out put from "Registers" terminal of "Modbus Master Serial Query.vi"
Actually as i have to read(Read Only) 16 channel Data from the instrument, and as per the link mentioned in ni "Introduction to Modbus" topic,
http://zone.ni.com/d...a/tut/p/id/7675
I selected "Read Input Registers" with Function Code "04".
As per the link above,If starting address is 40008,we have to give 7,If it is 40009,we have to give 8 ...
So as per the instrument register addresses, what i got from the instrument design people,Addresses are starting from 40001,
So I tried in the following ways
Test 1:
Following as inputs for "Modbus Master Query.vi",
1.With Read Input Registers
2.With Starting address as "0",
Test 2:
Following as inputs for "Modbus Master Query.vi",
1.With Read Holding Registers
2.With Starting address as 1 also,
But in both the cases I am not getting any value from the Registers terminal of "Modbus Master Query.vi"
Also i have gone through the link which is in ni developer zone forums,i.e.
http://forums.ni.com...uireLogin=False
Also i observed one thing while running the code anna,
I am using RS 485 to RS 232 converter for communicating with the instrument.
From this converter, there are two output terminals(TXD) and (RXD) with boolean indicators(one for the TXD and one for RXD).I think these are send and receive commands for serial communication(RS 232)
Observation is that, whenever i am running the code, the boolean which correspond to TXD is blinking,
But there is no indication from boolean of RXD.
I think, the code which is running in my PC is sending command but because of some reasons there is no reply(as there is no indication from RXD boolean) from the instrument.
I am thinking that the with the starting address what i am giving in the VI,its not able to search for the registers...,
Regarding RS 485 to RS 232 Converter,
In front end,one side, two terminals(D+ and D-) are connected to Instrument D+ and D- Terminals.
Another side, three terminals(230 VAC,Neutral and Earth) given supply Line,Neutral and Earth Terminals.
And in front end,9 Pin Female(RS 232) Connector is there and i used one Serial Female to Male cable for connecting my PC to the Converter RS 232 port.
Can anybody support me so that i can solve this problem...,
Regards,
Bujjin

does the iphone 4 only offer 2 "open-in" options when dealing with email attchements?
mine used to always offer teh I-note option now it only offers evernote and dropbox- any ideas?Hello,
Sorry to just now be getting back to you, but with Thanksgiving and my granddaughter's wedding yesterday, I've been too busy and stressed to worry about my phone again until now.
Yes, I used the default email application, and the email provider is Cox Communications. Anything you can do to help would be appreciated. Also I was wondering if I should change to IMAP (from POP3)....perhaps that would help the problem? Don't know, as I don't know anyone else who uses IMAP. Your help, again, would be appreciated.
Thank you.

TCP Communication Problem - not passing data???
Hello.
I am working on TCP communication. I need to pass data from one PC to another and vise versa. I started with the shipped example TCP Communicator Active and Passive VI. Using the shipped example only with the Wireless Unit connected to both PC i am able to communicate and pass data between each PC.
Now, placing the shipped example VI to my Main VI (separate while loop), I am NOT able to make it run properly. What happens is even if i move the control data on one PC it does not update to the other PC.
I am attaching the example VI and I would appreciate for any advise.
Thank you very much.

"if you need to share data aquiired rapidly, a work-around is to accumulate the acquired data and send larger "bundles" less frequently" - do you have a simple example VI for this?
No! - though we could develop something - but a solution for the current example, might not be helpful to your final program. For instance, we would capture & accumulate a "batch" of data "produced" by individual user actions, then send the "batch" of data to the other machine and what? Perform all the updates to the GUI in rapid succession (what's the point?.) Show the last user action/setting?
It might be a good time to develop the architecture for the Master and Slave applications.
This sounds like an interesting application! Do you mind sharing some detail? For instance, are the slaves generating data? Are there a fixed number of slaves? Is it necessary to mirror the Master's data on all the connected slaves?

Trouble connecting AEBS with Cox & Motorola cable modem
I am able to set up my new AEBS however I cannot connect to internet. I am told via Airport Utility that I have set up correctly and have the steady green light and the wireless connection however it just won't pick up the Internet. I've called my ISP Cox Communications and they told me it's an issue w/my router. I noticed a similar problem in discussion boards with Comcast and followed the same instructions and it did not resolve. I've tried to power off cable modem for 10 sec, 2 min and 10 min and just no luck. I immediately plug back in my Linksys router and am able to connect to internet just fine.
Anyone know what to do?Magand wrote:

Power off your cable modem for at leat 10 HOURS! Cox like every other ISP "caches" the MAC address of your router. The only way to "reset" this and allow a new MAC address to be accepted, is to turn off the cable modem overnight for 8-10 hours.
Some routers have the ability to "clone" a previous router MAC address, therefore not requiring the above process, but the AEBSn does NOT have this capability.
