Attachments not displaying

So, I've had a bunch of random things happen to my PowerBook lately, and I think they might be related.
First my iPhoto library became corrupted. Then I somehow lost my Address Book. I've been to the Genius Bar twice to have these problems fixed, so I'm no longer concerned with them, except in a general sense that there has been a series of random things happening to my PowerBook in a short period of time.
Anyway, now, my Mail program is acting weird: First of all, a bunch of e-mail that I had recently saved to folders "On My Mac" no longer displays, instead I get a message telling me to take my account online to download the message - despite the fact that my account is online.
A bigger problem is that many attachments that previously worked (PDF and JPG files, now display as simply large, large strings of random characters preceeded by something like this: --part129f.4acb6d6.3112c42e_relboundary
Content-ID: <[email protected]>
Content-Type: image/jpeg; name="ygp3496.jpg"
Content-Disposition: inline
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Any idea what's going on with my computer - especially Mail, and how to fix these problems?
Powerbook G4 1.25   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Greg,
Received and thanks!
I can replicate the problem, but found out that I have not yet installed Flip4Mac on my other computer, and have not had time to test in any but my primary boot volume. When I control-clicked on the attachment and selected to open with WMV, I got a message that my Flip4Mac was out-of-date. But updating did not correct the problem as others have found
I will need some time to chase this some more, and to raise a flag about it.

  • I have an issue with some PDF documents   some MS Office documents, notably MS Word when received in eMail as attachments not displaying on iPhones, iPad 2s

    Hi,
I have an issue with some PDF documents & some MS Office documents, notably MS Word when received in eMail as attachments not displaying properly on iPhones, iPad 2s & new iPads?
PDF docs - areas of the doc only show as grey splotches regardles of viewer
    MS Word Docs -
inserted graphics don't display at all,
tables & lists especially with borders are broken &
tables & lists missing the borders &
tables & lists missing the 1st 1-2 lines of the lists/tables.
This is replicated on iPhone 4s, iPhone 4Ss, iPad 2s, iPad new (x2)
It certainly happens in iOS 5.1.1 & iOS 5.1
We believe it all worked aok in iOS 5.0.1(?) & prior
There is no problems reading/seeing these PDF & Word docs on anything other than iDevices.
This is rather critical for us & if not quickly fixed/rectified will prevent us from further purchases of these devices
Rolling back to iOS 5.0.1 or prior I believe isn't possible because of the BaseBand update(?) & isn't much of an option because of the quite noticeable Battery/Charging/WiFi improvements in 5.1 & 5.1.1

    Hi,
I logged a call with AppleCare & have since had explained why this occurs (some time ago)
I'll try to explain what was indicated to me.
iOS has a limited Font Set & this affects what PDFs can display. You need to use iOS supported fonts in your PDFs to see/read them properly
These supported fonts are indicated here => http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4980
Regards MS office docs, iOS doesn't have much of an API to work with MS Office documents at all so is stuck with 3rd Party Apps to try to do it.
Unfortunately Mail in/on iOS uses the API to attempt to open/use MS Office attachments unless you tell it to use an App to open the attachment.
I have had success opening & reading MS office docs now with CloudOn, but find it slow & very awkward to use.
Not too sure if this helps others, but at least it explains why this is occurring

  • Case attachments not displayed using PCUI CRMD_CASE

    Hi all,
We´ve developped an WDA in order to create cases in case management, using BAPI
    BAPI_CASE_CREATE, developped as follows:
    call function 'BAPI_CASE_CREATE'

Our problem is the following: when we ONLY use PCUI CRMD_CASE (case management) something goes wrong, because case is displayed but its attachments  do not appear.
The behaviour is not the same if you display case in GUI or in PCUI; even if you enter firstly in CRM GUI and afterwards in PCUI, the behaviour changes; the possibilities are the following:
1 -->  Using CRM GUI (only) case and attachments are displayed right.
2 -->  Using PCUI CRMD_CASE (only) and not entering previously on CRM GUI, case is displayed right but its attachments are lost.
3 -->  If you enter CRM GUI firstly to see case and attachments and entering PCUI CRMD_CASE afterwards, everything (case and attach) is displayed right.
It seems that something is refreshed in database when you enter in CRM GUI and this is exactly what allows system to show rightly in PCUI.
We don´t know how to solve the problem.
Could anybody help us to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Draft Message multiple attachments not displayed or sending

When creating a draft message with mutiple attachments, they are displayed in the preview window but opening the message only displays a single attachment. Sending the message will only send the single attachment. Closing the message window and previewing from the draft folder will display all attachments again although they will disappear when re-opening the message.

  • WMV attachments not displaying in messages after QT 7.5.5 update.

My mother gets a lot of attachments from family, specifically videos in windows media video format. According to her, the WMV attachments used to display within the mail messages (without having to download them). This worked correctly, previous to the new Quicktime 7.5.5 update, however after the update, it now only plays the audio from the videos (however saving the attachments and actually opening them in Quicktime works fine).
She is using a Mac Mini, but she has forwarded some e-mails to my iMac and I get the same results. Both computer are running the same versions of Leopard, Quicktime, and iTunes (all the newest versions). Flip4Mac has been installed on each machine before and after the issue, and I updated that to latest version as well to see if that would fix it, but it didn't.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Photos/Attachments Not Displaying in Messages

Last week I updated my OS from Mountain Lion to Mavericks on a MBA. I can view all my sent photos but not the ones I received. The images have been replaced with bubbles like this:
If I double click on the bubble the image appears. The attachments are located were they should be in the  ~/library/messages/ attachments folder. Being that both incoming and outgoing attachments are stored in this folder it seems strange that Messages would display one catergory and not the other.
I've signed in and out of my icloud account to no effect. Is there a way to restore the link between the app and it's attachment folder or do I need to restore the app itself? And if I restore will I risk losing messages?
    Thank you,

  • I want to save attachments, not display them

Mail seems to display attachments in the message body. I don't want that. I want to be able to save the attachments. Any ideas?

If you are using the web mail interface on Yahoo, it isn't a Mac setting that's doing it. It's possible that Yahoo's web site code isn't very standards-compliant and is having a problem with Safari... have you tried using FireFox to see if that makes a difference?
Another possibility... I don't have any familiarity with Yahoo mail, but perhaps it is normal behavior for the Yahoo web mail to add the contents of text files to the message, rather than attaching them, and perhaps there's a limit imposed on attachment size that the PDF exceeded.

  • Email attachments not displaying

Recently I've noticed my iPad and iPhone both have issues displaying the same files - jpg and png - when they are sent as email attachments. I've tried from different accounts to different accounts (I have both Gmail and MobileMe email on my iPad, iPhone and Mac), and the files display correctly on my Mac in both Mail and Preview. But on my iPad and iPhone I just get a little blue question mark. Trying to save the image just saves the little blue question mark.
Anyone got any suggestions? I've tried restarting the devices, deleting/readding email accounts, and modifying/resaving/converting the images on my Mac with both Preview and Photoshop... none of which makes any difference. And yes, I have "Load Remote Images" on in Mail Settings.

I have the same problem I get a email from my security DVD with jpeg attachments and it shows and old picture.  It seems the iPad is stuck on the old picture. This happens only on the iPad other devices download correct image.

  • Mail attachments not displaying correctly

    Hi all,
I did a search about this but didn't find anything.
The problem I am having is when I attach a pdf that I made with Illustrator, the pdf will sometimes show up wrong (all black, missing parts of the art, wrong colors, etc) in my message before I send it.
These are proofs that I'm sending to customers and so far, I haven't gotten any complaints. If I open the attachment in Acrobat, it looks fine. Sometimes if I open it in preview or coverflow though, I get the same issue that I see in Mail when I attach it to send.
This only seems to happen with pdf files so far and didn't used to happen. (I'm not sure exactly when it started, probably some time in the last 2-3 months)
Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply Bob.
When I make a pdf in Illustrator, I do a save as and save a pdf that can be read back into Illustrator. (Illustrator Default with compatibility save to Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5) I have to do it this way to ensure that my files can be read without any issues by printing plate makers once the proof is approved.
I've been saving files this way for the last 3+ years and never had a problem before now.
It is just a cosmetic issue on my end, but I would like to be able to see the pdf accurately before I send it like I used to be able to do.
I've got one customer who uses Preview for pdf's, but they haven't had any issues so far. They also use an older version of Preview (I think they are still running 10.4 or 10.5)
Its good to know the file isn't getting messed up, but I'd like it to work the way it should.
    Any other thoughts?

  • OCS Webdesk will not display attachments on emails sent from Thunderbird !!

    Hi,
Emails that are sent with attachments from Mozilla Thunderbird clients display in my Webdesk folders without the attachment!!
Funny thing is that the size of the email means it obviously has an attachment but the attachment does not display in the email, meaning you cannot open it.
If you view the same email via Outlook with the Oracle Connector then it is fine.
Emails sent to my webdesk account from Microsoft Outlook come through o.k.
I tested this problem by sending emails with attachments from Apple Mail to my webdesk Inox and the same thing happened, email without the attachment visible !

Webdesk means Web Access Client right ?
We've never seen such a problem, works flawlessly here. Did you try with another account ?

  • Apple Mail in 10.6.8 not displaying attachments

I am unable to get consistent results on displaying attachments from Apple Mail on 10.6.8 with Exchange Server 2007 SP3 RU4. Attachments sent from an Outlook 2007 client on the same exchange server are not displayed in Apple Mail. The message shows no sign of an attachment. The problem with this issue, is it is not consistant. If I forward the e-mail message from my iPhone to myself, I get the attachment in Mail. It shows up in my iPhone correctly. I am connected to Exchange in Mail via the standard EWS (Exchange Web Services). The original message doesn't show any attachment in Mail. But after 20 or so minutes, the attachement show in the message body, but not in the header up top. Just driving me crazy. Is there anyone that can point me in a direction on who to contact on this issue to find out how it can be fixed?
    Thanks,
    Nate

I'm having the same problem and it is driving me crazy. My main email account at work is on an Exchange 2007 server. When I send emails with attachments (using Mail 4.5), I get people replying telling me that I haven't included the attachments. However, I know I have as the attachments appear in the Sent Items and I have also tested it by sending blind copies to a Gmail account and they turn up there even when the recipient is telling me that they cannot see the attachment. Even worse, people send me emails with attachments and the attachments either just do not appear at all or they appear intermittently. Whatever the problem, this really isn't good enough - how can I work with such unreliability. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas for how to fix or work around this I'd be very grateful!

  • Pdfs sent as attachments to email do not display comments made to pdf prior to sending

What is the trick to getting pdf attachments to display comments when viewing on ipad?

We solved this problem by changing r60mail.sh. We changed r60mail.sh into a Perl script, and used the MIME::Lite module of perl to send out the report as an attachment.

  • Why is Mail 6.2 not displaying messages from my Exchange account?

    Greetings,
I have a new 13" MacBook Air running Mountain Lion and I'm noticing that most of the time my Mail inbox is not displaying messages from my work Exchange account; however, it does display messages correctly for my Gmail account.  I've included a screen shot of what I'm experiencing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Garry

I have the same problem, as does a coworker. It happens, for instance, if I click on another mailbox (such as Junk) then go back to the inbox. Our company uses Exchange. Quitting mail usually fixes it. A rebuild of the mailbox will too.  Only happens on my Mac at work, not my Mac at home (connected via VPN).
Another problem I have is with mail not syncing. Mail I have deleted from another device (such as on my Mac at home or my iPad) does not get deleted from my inbox at work. Sometimes they'll go away when I click on them. Other times they won't go away and the only way to delete them is to rebuild the mailbox.
And lately I have had problems with attachments. Attachments sent from my Exchange account at work show up as .eml attachments in my iCloud account and mime attachments on my iPad or as a string of characters (20-30), not as an attachment. This happens whether sent from home or work.
I have our IT department looking into the third problem (which is the most vital one for me).  I'll report the other two annoying problems and see what they can figure out.
