Attachments of type "Document Reference" in OAF

Hi frnds,
I have a question on viewing attachments in OAF. We have some documents attached to PO and the document type is "Document Reference" in fnd_documents. These documents are stored in the content management server, not in fnd_lobs, so fnd_documents table has a reference to the file path (DM_FOLDER_PATH column in fnd_documents has the URL path for the documents with DM_TYPE as FILE). MEDIA_ID and URL values are blank. I was wondering how can we display these documents in the advanced table. I have tried with AttachmentImage but it doesn't pull these files; it pulls only those documents which have an entry in fnd_lobs. How can we fetch these documents and while clicking the file name, forward to the content management server?

Thanks Pratap. I cannot use attachmentImage or attachmentTable region for this though. I was hoping if any existing objects/item types can be used directly without any modifications.

Attaching a document reference to an appointment

Good Morning -
I am working on a customers system, who I just migrated from NetWare to Linux. When the customer creates a new email and wants to attach a document reference to the email he/she is seeing all the docs in the library, but when they try the same with an appointment the library is empty.
I don't see the rhyme or reason for this. Can anyone shine some light on this for me. I do have an incident open with NTS.

I can't think of a reason, but why not create a mail, attach ref, and
then edit/change to appointment, complete the appointment and send.
According to NTS, it's a defect that probably will not be fixed since it's a GroupWise 7 Client issue.

Why do I not get the checkout option for a pdf type document when clicking on the document link in the SharePoint workflow task?

We are trying to use workflows to review and edit pdf files in sharepoint 2010. We are having a couple of issues and am hoping someone has the answer.....
1) When myself and coworkers click on the pdf document in the library, we get the check out option as expected. However when we click on the document
link in a workflow task (on the sharepoint site), the pdf opens as a temporary file and we do not get the check out option. Why does this happen?????
2) The same thing happens when we click on the document link in the workflow task email; HOWEVER, one of our co-workers does get the
check out option when clicking on the link in the email task. Why would she get the checkout option using the email and not when clicking on the link in the task list on the sharepoint site ???? We have compared our internet settings and adobe
settings to ours and found no differences.
We are using Sharepoint 2010, Windows 7, IE8, Adobe Reader X or XI. Some of us have Adobe Pro X and have the same issues.

According to your post, my understanding is that you could not get the checkout option for a pdf type document when clicking on the document link in the SharePoint workflow task.
I try to reproduce the issue, however, no matter when I click the pdf type document in the library or click on the pdf document link in the workflow task email, it download the pdf doucment and then I can open it.
It will be better if you can descript how you
get the check out option as expected when you click on the pdf document in the library.
Then I upload a
word type document to the library, no matter when I click the word type document in the library or click on the word document link in the workflow task email, I can open the word document directly and get the check out option as expected.
I recommend to use the other type docuemts to check whether the check out option works.

Content type "Link to a Document" to content type Document SET

Hello,
Could you please assist.
I have a customized document sets.
I added the content type "Link to a Document” to content type Document SET.
I uploaded several documents to each document set. There are several identical documents in different document sets.
How can I arrange for uploading just a link to the documents, but not the additional documents?
In other words, how to arrange for convenience for users to download a link?
I mean them not to enter
http://server/files ,
but a certain “dropdown” appeared, a kind of menu with a choice of downloaded documents.
Suppose, I added to each file its own attribute link and this link. I want to present in form of creation “Link to a Document”
There are 2 forms of creation. The first one is where we point a link. The second one is where we point the attributes.
For example:
I have two document sets: Project 1 and Project 2.
There are 2 documents “instruction.doc” and “invoice.xls” uploaded to Project 1. Each document has a field – link (a link to this very document).
I want to add a link to “invoice.xls” in Project 2.
I want to do it in that way a user could choose a list of links from a dropdown menu.

Lookup column is the attribute of file. Attribute can not be upload! . Did you try to use the content type of link to document? If yes, you can understand my question. I want to change uploaded.aspx ( link of document) and add lookup column to this form.

How to use xsl in the veriable (of type Document packorg.w3c.dom)?

I have xml document in the variable of type Document from the package "org.w3c.dom". I want to use xsl to this xml document to format it.
I am trying to do something like this:

Data type 'Document' in Lifecycle Forms

Hi all,
i'd like to handle PDFs in Lifecycle ES. So I use data type 'Document' for input variable. To call my LC service I use once FLEX and JavaScript.
Does anybody know how I can initiate my Lifecycle-PDF-variable of type 'Document' from FLEX (ActionScript) or JavaScript?
I'm quite new to this topic, so please help me.

I would be very careful about changing any of the tables as it is probably not supported, I would discuss it with Oracle first to see what there view on it is.

UDO type Document, Add lines

Hi All,
I have a problem with a User Defined Object of type Document/Document Lines.
I have a custom form for the UDO. I can add new Documents with one or more Document Lines. These are stored in the database as expected, both Father table and Child table is updated. I can also update existing entries through the UDO, but I can NOT add new Document Lines to an existing Document.
I can add the lines in the matrix of the form, but they are not written to the Child table when I press Update. There is no error messages or anything, the new lines are just not written.
Any suggestions?

When you add a line to the matrix did you increase the size of the datasource as well?
A sample of code to add line:
dbMOR1.InsertRecord dbMOR1.Size
dbMOR1.Offset = dbMOR1.Size - 1
m_oMatrix.AddRow 1
(dbMOR1 is the satasource of the child table that is bound to the matrix columns).

They meant sth like weak reference... anyone can give a more detailed explaination?
Also someone can talk a little bit about the memory leak in Java? IWhen will it happen? One senario on my mind is that: an array filled with the references of a class, when the program is done with the array, it doesn't apply removeall on the array. Will it cause memory leak?

How to get list of attachments for FI documents?

Hi,
We have a requirement where in we need to fetch the documents from BKPF and output these documents if they do not have any attachments.
Now the issue is to find if the documents have any attchamnets or not. We came acroos the link table TOA01 and TOA02 for BKPF. But these does not satisfy our requirement completely as there are documents with attchaments but not maintained in these link tables.
Please let me know if there any generic way like methods of classes to find the attachments for the documents??

You can make use of the Transaction OAAD by giving the Business object BKPF as the Key field and it will pull up all the documents that are attached .

Linking the UDO of type document to user defined field

I created the user defined field and i need to link the UDO of type document to that user defined field. How to link the UDO to user defined field.

do you mean to add a user defined field to an document type UDO? if this is the case,
1. create the UDT
2. go to Tools-> customization tools->User Defined Fields-Management, expand User Tables, add the udf to the UDT
3. register the UDT as UDO.

OUTPUT type document archiving is failing

Hi,
We are generating the OUTPUT type documents for billing invoices. For one of the output type the documents are not storing to content server.
tRFC request is generating but it is failing with the below error
SAP ArchiveLink: Obj. type not assigned to storage syst.(Customizing)
I have checked the configuration settings. NACE,OAC0,OAC3,V/33 etc... Everything looks fine
Documents were generating and storing to Filenet for other Output types. Only having the problem with one output type.

It is already maintained. with Print and Archive
Output staus is showing as green, but the document is not storing to Filenet. Even not able to see in attachment list.
tRFC is failing as below
find the root cause as the TOA_DARA details are not updating for AR_OBJECT and SAP_OBJECT fields.
But not sure whether these details upload from the SAP Form or from report.

Unsupported file type: broken reference movie in ...

This happened to me today, and I wanted to record this for search engines to find. It's probably a rare event and hopefully, dear reader, it will not happen to you.
So I import my FCE movie into iDVD, and iDVD tells me, "Unsupported file type: broken reference movie in (filename)", and won't import it. Okay, this movie is not self-contained, so let's export it again and see if that fixes things. No such luck. Other things I tried which did not help:
* Exported movie both as a self-contained movie and a not self-contained movie.
* Tried cleaning all FCE render files and rebuilding.
* Looking through system logs with Console app.
* Quit/restart iDVD.
* Rebooting.
* Seems that a LiveType fragment in FCE was not rendered completely for some reason. I drill down to find the red-lined unrendered fragments and render them. Then I drill down futher and find more. I render them all.
After a while, I notice that QuickTime Player can play the movie just fine, and I begin to doubt that I understand what "broken reference" means.
I finally try exporting the movie from FCE to a different filename. iDVD is OK with that! What's in a name? Something has remembered that the filename itself is bad. Must hunt down the cause....
Looks like some bad data is stored in the /Users/YOUR-NAME/Library/Caches/com.apple.idvd plist. It says the 'isValid' property for this filename is 'No'. That can't be good. I removed the entry for the troublesome filename with Property List Editor (developers have this) and restarted iDVD. That fixed it!
Those without Property List Editor can delete com.apple.idvd -- it's a cache, and iDVD will create a new one. Actually, a better practice is to rename the file until you're sure you haven't seriously broken iDVD.

I'm thinking I likely would have deleted both preference files. The one for iDvd as well as FCE and then started over with a fresh export of the QT ref. movie from FCE => iDvd

Adobe reader file preview type library reference

Where I will may see adobe reader file preview type library reference?

I would guess that this interface is registered and used by Windows to generate previews for Explorer. It is not supported or documented, but if it does that, it won't have anything to do with text extraction.
Adobe Reader has a supported interface for displaying in a window.
For a text extraction API you'd want Acrobat, which would allow you via VBA to run JavaScript to get text quads.
Note that this is not for server use. If you want server text extraction consider Adobe's PDF iFilter. This is unusual in that it is supported but is not in the SDK; Microsoft define the interfaces to iFilters, not Adobe.
If you have further questions about Acrobat or Reader development, I'd recommend that you post in the Acrobat SDK forum, to reach the right experts.

Attachments for FI documents

Hi Experts,
Could you please give me some idea how to attach documents, with FI documents?
My problem is, there are some FI docs with which some attachments exist, But for some others it's missing. No body (FI consultants in our project!!) could not give me some idea about how the attachments are attached..
Any kind of help is truly appriciated.

U can attach the attachments for posted documents.
go to FB03 take document display of any document
Before Document overview display U will find one icon, click the icon there you will find the option for attachment, workflow etc.
