Attachments open in same tab - i want them to open in a new tab

I work in school recruiter (used for taking work applications for school system) and open a lot of attachments to applications. When I close the attachment, it closes me out of school recruiter. I need the attachments to open in a separate tab. Where do i go to set that?

You can open regular (i.e. non-javascript) links in a new tab with a middle-click or a Ctrl + left-click on that link.
The above mentioned setting in Options only applies to links that would open in a new window and allow to redirect the link to a new tab instead.

• My current tabs are below Firefox home tab, I want them aline next to Firefox home tab, how?

Hi,
Previously tab settings of my Firefox browser were set to default settings (I guess) as it was set as the colored Firefox home tab with its drop down button were set at left top corner of the window and then the other tabs were set just next to it on the same aline. Now the tab settings ate changed with top left is the Firefox home tab, the other tabs are just down to it.
I like to have my previous settings back as it was all in the same aline. Would you please help me out of the issue?
Thanks,
Regards,
Cyberkhan

That is only possible if you run Firefox with a maximized screen.
You can look at this extension:
*Tabs Always In Titlebar: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tabs-always-in-titlebar/

• Can't open new tab by going to file/new tab (or CTRL+T or clicking on the new tab field). Only way is to right click on a link and choose open in new tab.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• Suddenly Can't Open PDFs. Starting about three days ago firefox will no longer open any PDFs. I get a blank page in a new tab.

Suddenly Can't Open PDFs in Firefox. Starting about three days ago firefox will no longer open any PDFs. I get a blank page in a new tab. Nice timing, with finals and everything where I need to view PDFs of practice tests.

Mozilla Firefox did not do their job, here. I am an editor and am constantly online. Now, I have to go to Safari to download PDFs. I reinstalled an earlier version of Firefox to get rid of the problem, but somehow Firefox has deactivated my PDF download feature. This is a total wreck and I am so angry I could spit. Stop launching new products until you have fully tested them. Customers are not your guinea pigs. Please fix this now- and fire a few idiots on the way- the ones who let this happen.

• How can you get your homage address to open when you open new tabs? My homepage is Google, but my new tabs always open with Yahoo.

On my old computer, all my tabs always opened to what my homepage was set to: iGoogle. Now with my new computer, my homepage is set, but all new tabs open with Yahoo! I've tried looking at tab setting but don't see a place to set it. Help!

The behavior that you have is not the default Firefox behavior, which always opens a blank tab. You will have an add-on that is causing this. Check for any Yahoo related add-ons to see if they have this option. The freeze net assistant add-on is another one that opens Yahoo in a new tab.
There are add-ons that allow you to specify what should appear on a new tab, but these may conflict with the add-on that is opening Yahoo.
* NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
* New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage
Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

• The only way I can open a new tab is by right-clicking a bookmarked site and selecting "Open in a New Tab." I can't click on the New Tab + or CTR+T or open via File. WHY?!?

The only way I can open a new tab in Firefox is by right-clicking a bookmarked site and selecting "Open in a New Tab." I can't click on the New Tab + or CTR+T or open via File. WHY don't the other means work?

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

• When I click on the "New Tab" button, or try to open a new tab through the "File Pull Down" Menu, a new tab does not open. How do I fix this?

I cannot open new tabs. The new tab button, new tab option on the file menu and the new tab option when I right click on the tab all do not work. This started when I updated Firefox Yesterday. It is becoming annoying when trying to work with multiple tabs open. How can I fix this?

Try uninstalling the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and the current version of Firefox.

I just downloaded Google Chrome and use both Google Chrome and Firefox as my browsers. However, whenever I click on an email link, it opens up Chrome and I want it to open Firefox. How do I fix this?

Go into FF Preferences & set it to be your default browser.  This way when you click on an email link in Chrome, FF will open.

When I i open a picture from my Documents it automatically opens in Photoshop.  I want it to open in Lightroom. How do I change this preference?

You cannot open an image with LR as you would with Photoshop , or Elements. (or a word document, etc)
The Lightroom program can only open "Catalog" files  (*.LRCAT)   Opening a .LRCAT file will automatically open Lightroom.
To edit images in LR you must first open the program, then IMPORT the image into the Catalog database (only ever once), then you select the preview thumbnail and go to the Develop module ( press "D")
Your edits in the Develop module will show on the preview in the library grid.
Your original image file is not altered, so will not look any different in File Explorer or Finder.
To get an image file with your Develop edits applied, you must "Export" a derivative file in JPG or TIFF format.

• When I click on links, I want them to open in another tab. They keep opening in another window, even though I went to the settings to try and change that.

How do I get it to open in tabs instead of windows? I went to Options>>Tabs and unchecked "open new window instead of tab". I can't figure out what else to do.

Thanks so much! :)

• Firefox just updated, now everytime i open a new tab, it opens yahoo search. I want it to open my topsites when i open a new tab. (sorry for my poor english)

Just like the question...

Type about:config in a new window address bar. Click 'I will be careful'. You will see all kinds of information that Firefox uses so it knows how to work. There is a search bar at the top of the page. Type 'browser.startup.homepage' and check its entry. You can change it to what ever web page you want, or you can enter; 'about:blank' for a blank page. I use the Firefox home page; about:home. After, go back to the search bar and type; browser.newtab.url. This is what a new tab page will display. Do the same thing here. You can have the same for both or have each open to different pages.

• Opening tabs from last time opens home pages until I load them, which opens the correct tab

When I open Firefox, and I have multiple tabs opened from last time, and also have "do not load tabs until selected" checked, my home pages load in the place of 'unloaded' tabs from last time, but, when I click them, they load the appropriate tab that I had open last time.
It's a strange glitch that happens every single time, and I request a SOLUTION, not an alternate setting or workaround. I don't want to load up 10+ tabs (having "do not load tabs until selected" unchecked) every time I open Firefox, and my 4 extra homepage tabs have heavy flash material, so I'd not want them loading on startup either.
Thanks.

Try to "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
Also make sure that you do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the the Cache (Firefox will disable the disk cache in this case, see about:cache)
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

• I use google search. When I click on a suggestion in the search results tab, I want it to open in a new tab and keep the search results in the original tab. How?

For example, when I enter the search term "armoires" and get a search results page/tab with suggestions such as Sears, JCPenney, or Amazon, I want to be able to click on Sears and have the Sears page open in a new page/tab. In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :
# In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
# Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
# Look to browser.search.openintab change its value to true.
With this configuration your search will be open in a new tab

Firefox is highly customizable, you can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://redherring2.wordpress.com/2011/01/17/firefox-4-restoring-firefox-3-ui
