Attachments open quicker

When I have mail opened to full screen and highlight an email, click on an excel or powerpoint attachement that somehow it opens quicker then not using full screen mode. The emai thread shoots off screen - desk top appears and the software (excel or powerpoint) focuse on specfic task of opeing .... and seems to open quicker - fact or fiction ?

Probably not the solution for your problem, but there is an attachment indicator in the message list. So you'd already see that a message has an attachment before you even open it.

On my computer, Chrome is the fastest (almost immediate), Opera takes around 5 to 7 seconds, Internet Explorer 9 takes at least 10 to 12 seconds. So, Firefox used to be the fastest and now the slowest.

I need help with attachments opening in Elements by mistake

Hello, I have Elements and Adobe reader. Ever since I loaded Elements, i have had a problem with any Email attachments opening up in Element. I somehow changed the defult. I need to have my attachemtn/PDF's open in the reader program, not Elements everytime. Thank you!

What you need to do is to change the default programs settings. I don't know what operating system you are using but I suggest repost your question at this link:

Tell them that you want to make Adobe PDF reader as the default program to open all pdf files. You also need to tell them your operating system so that they can give you correct instructions.

Can't Open Quick Time

Every time I attempt to open Quick Time I get a message that states it cannot find File Pthreadvc2.dll It suggests reinstalling the software. I have attempted that several time with no success. Does anyone know how to solve this?

So I downloaded an h264.mov. and when I click on it topen it it tells me
QuickTime Player can't open "Room Serviced_H.264.mov". I click to tell me more and it takes me to an Apple page that tells me this below. But it doesn't give me a solution.

PS doesn't deal with compressed files that well. Try to convert it in an external tool like Quicktime Pro or one of the gigazillion free video converters based on ffmpeg....

I ran system software upgrades recently, could this cause conflict with CS4? Photoshop does not act this way at all. We are a gift manufacturing company and some of our files are relatively large. I ran disc utilities to repair permissions and still slow opening.

Set Program Access and Defaults. On custom, set Firefox as the default browser.

Hold down the Option key on the keyboard then click-hold on the + in Safari. The pop-up menu will say "Add to and Make Default" in gray at the top. Select the destination for your bookmark. The next time you click the +, the bookmark will go to that same location. :-)

I cannot open Quick Time Player at all

I am simply trying to open Quick Time Player to record a self video. I go to my Applications folder, click on Quick Time Player. It loads into the dock, I double click on the QTP icon, nothing happens. I right click on the QTP icon and get a mini menu of options that don't seem to apply to opening the program to include nothing in the Options (and there is not a selection of "SHOW" only Show All Windows which merely lists four movies I have on my hard drive. Any suggestions from anyone? Keep it real simple please and assume nothing. I'm of the slide rule era, well before the 8086 days and grew up on the PC. Thanks.

Double-click the QuickTime Player and choose New Movie Recording from the File menu. The QuickTime Player will only have a window open when instructed to do so; the items in the menu bar will change when it's launched.

Can't open any attachments with Quick Look on iPad

When I try to open any email attachment with Quick Look, I get the "Loading...", but it never opens. This is happening for pdfs, Word docs, Excel docs, etc. The attachments will open just fine in QuickOffice, iBooks, Evernote, Dropbox, etc. Anyone have suggestions?

I had a similar problem in that the latest version of Works would open many Word documents from my previous computer but would not open more complicated documents that had large tables etc. I decided to try downloading the free Open Office and found that it opens every Word document I have encountered so far and seems much more capable than Works.

It's a Finder feature, related to Quick Look. You can hit the space bar in the file list to get a preview.
If that doesn't work, you may have an issue witha preference file or similar. I find rebuilding the launch databse works quite well resilving tis kind of thing, as does trashing Finder preferences

Photoshop CS6 opens quickly- must wait 2-3 minutes to use program.

Greetings. New to the forum. I've found several references to my problem online, but none of the suggestions seems to work. I have a brand new iMac running 10.9.4 Mavericks. It has a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 16 GB of RAM. I also have the 1TB Fusion Hard Drive.
When I open Photoshop it snaps open almost immediately. If I click on a photo file and "open with" Photo shop, photoshop snaps open almost immediately and the photo opens about as quickly. BUT... then I get the spinning beach ball for anywhere from 2-3 minutes before I can actually use the program. Before I updated CS6 today, Photoshop would open and hang for 2-4 minutes on the "measuring memory" message. Sometimes it would open, sometimes it would not open. I just got CS6 today- and yes, it's a legal copy with valid serial number purchased from the university.
I've tried a few other programs in the suite (Premiere, Encore, Illustrator...and gave up waiting for them to load. I've tried changing the performance settings in Photoshop. I've deleted bad fonts. I unchecked the "use graphics processor." I've made sure that Photoshop can get through the iMac firewall.
Once the program finally loads, I can work with it and it seems "normal." Ive have CS6 on my work iMac and it is very fast- but that machine is running Mountain Lion.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

is uninstalling the graphics card the only fix for this? I'm reluctant to try this, and cause more problems..
