Attachments viewing is severely broken in 10.5.6?

Hello everybody
Starting from 10.5.6 update my Mail show attachments in a new way and I am absolutely not liking it.. For example in letters where the author just attached 2 or 3 JPG files they now show as small mini icons after downloading instead of huge JPG pictures. Clicking on them opens preview fine, quicklook also works fine. Navigating away from this letter and back causes pictures to display correctly. Same and even worse issues with attached PDFs - they now show as huge black rectangles. Ok, I can tolerate PDF's but looking at small JPG files instead of big normal sized pictures like before is a problem for me. Probably WebKit issues, I had old Safari 3.1 upgraded to 3.2 - same problems
Anyone having this? I am using IMAP server.

Ok, I think I might have figured out what you are describing.
Sorry to inform you, but you can't set any backgrounds if you have an arrangement set. Arrangement must be set to None in order to set a background color or picture. And, it can only be done in Icon view.
There is nothing "broken." Just too difficult to implement, I imagine.

Embedded View in several tabs

Hi everyone,
I need to bind a static view to the actual tab dynamically. As I can't assign one View to several view containers at the same time I guess I've got to "unbind" the view first and bind it to another view container in the next tab dynamically at runtime?
Are there any resources on how to do it for ABAP?

Hi Uwe,
1. A view cannot be visible at more than one position at the same time. This is a runtime restriction.
2. You can place a view into different UI element containers during design time, so it is quite possible to add it to different tabs.
You should not add it to the tabstrips as the default views. Just enter the empty view as default, and create a navigation link to your view.
3. During runtime you can navigate to one of the views, but you have to take care that only one of them is visible at the same time. So if you switch to a different tab, just navigate to the empty view on the old tab and to your view in the new tab.

Attachments view in IC webclient

Hi all,
I have a requirement to incorporate an 'Attachments' view in the IC webclient that I'm currently configuring. I would like to be able to attach documents to my Interaction Record while I'm creating it.
I have not been able to find a View or Viewset for that in CRM_IC or IC_Base.
Can I do that? Has anyone out there done it already?
Currently, my only option is to use the Activity Monitor in the Navigation Bar.

When you create the interaction and before ending the interaction, why not choose the document search nav button. There you should be able to attach a document that is linked to your interaction.
The next time anyone opens that interaction they will get a notification of the attached document(s).

[solved] new pidgin severely broken

the newest version from pidgin is severely broken. It segfaults everytime i start it. i tried removing .purple and it seemed to start ok, but then i added the oldest blist.xml and accounts.xml and it segfaults again, so it's not because of broken plugins...
i'm not willing to configure everything by hand now, can anyone help?

I'm having no issues with Pidgin, but you can try to downgrade to the previous version, if you haven't cleared your cache.
Check into /var/cache/pacman/pkg and see if you find it, then install it with pacman using the -U flag.
Other than that, if you want to fix the issue, I suggest to run pidgin from the command line to get some debug information (the -d flag is useful, too).

Live View and Inspect BROKEN in DW CS5 & Drupal

I successfully navigated through the confusing instructions for setting up a local Drupal website in Dreamweaver's site manager and was very excited the first time I did a "discover" and DW found all the Drupal files on my local testing server. Yay!
I was even more excited when I tried live view and was able to click on elements in my Drupal page and see the CSS properties displayed. (similar to how Firebug in Firefox works)
Unfortunately, my excitement didn't last. The property inspector in DW CS5 is BROKEN. When you click on a specific element on the page, the "live code" displayed for that selection is wrong. DW tends to select far more code than the actual element chosen. As a result, the CSS properties displayed in the CSS panels are wrong for that particular element. Most of the time, they are the properties for the element (<div>) that WRAPS the selected element.
This makes the wonderful, Live View Inspect TOTALLY USELESS, for Drupal development. Didn't Adobe actually TEST this app with Drupal before distributing it? I just spent $600 on an upgrade to CS5 for NOTHING!

Not sure how I could translate the problem into a plain html file, since all the elements of Drupal are served up from a database and php server. Even if I could, I suspect it wouldn't reproduce the problem, since I have no issue with the Inspect button on static html files. One thing to note is that the box model on the selected element seems to accurately reflect the proper CSS settings, even though live code and CSS panels do not. So the out-of-sync issue seems to be between the box model and the live code and CSS panels.
It would be worth your while to set up a live Drupal site. Admittedly, there are a ton of different things going on within a Drupal page, including javascript, which I suppose could throw things out of sync. (although turning off javascript didn't fix the problem) Since Drupal is all open source, it would be easy for me to send a zipped codefile and mysql dump to your developers. Or you could recreate a site from Drupal.org. I have tested this against several iterations of Drupal with several different themes, some simple and some complex, and the problem is pretty consistent, although it behaves slightly differently depending on the Drupal theme being used.
On some themes, Inspect picks LESS than the proper amount of code. On some themes, it picks MORE. My theory is that it's some kind of mathematical or array issue with DW, because Firebug can reliably render all my Drupal sites with no issues at all.
Using the Tag Selector is difficult in most cases, because the Inspect selector tends to select an "outer" div instead of the one that is correct, so the correct selection is not shown on the tag selector list. (since the tag selector only shows outer divs to the currently selected one.) The convoluted workaround is to select an element INSIDE of the targeted element, and then backtrack up the Tag Selector tree. Selecting the proper code with the Tag Selector DOES appear to render the proper CSS and Live Code, but you obviously lose one of the biggest advantages of live view, which is to quickly find the proper element and see the visual box model rendered live.
This one issue will severely limit the attractiveness of DW to Drupal developers. But if you can get it working, I will be singing Dreamweaver's praises all over Drupal.org!
UPDATE: One other clue I just discovered while using several other Drupal themes: When selecting an element, live code appears to miss the first div and instead pick the following div. Example: (note, I'm using parentheses instead of brackets since this forum strips brackets)

The live code selection is in bold italic. Live code starts selecting AFTER the first div marker and grabs the start of the next div.
Sure seems like a mis-applied array element to me.

Attachments - "view as icon"

Is there any way to make "view as icon" the default when attaching files?

I used the very first OS X Mail.app version for a short time until Office X was introduced when I began using Entourage.
I switch back to using the Mail.app exclusively when Jaguar was introduced thru Panther and now Tiger and the Mail.app has always displayed image/picture and smaller PDF attachments (1-2) pages inline or viewed in place within the body of the message.
I quickly grew to prefer this since I can confirm the correct image or picture attachment has been selected before the message is sent.
I have not experienced the same problem and I've installed all available updates.
Anything special about these attachments or does the problem occur with any and all image or picture attachments regardless?

Conversation view in mail broken

Since updating to 10.9.2, conversation view in mail appears to be broken. Conversations now include random emails with no apparent association.
This is in addition to ongoign problems of disapearing gmail emails.
Anys solutions?

Attachments View Error in FB03

Hi friends,
I've two documents for which i'm trying to view the attachments through FB03 and one of them is not working:
2980 1900042489 2011
2980 1900043902 2011 10/17
I am finding that older images linked prior to the October release get the www.werweabc.com link which the system is not finding and i'm not able to view the attachments. However, newer documents get the www.sfgsdfksghf.com link and i'm able to view the attachments without any issues.
Iu2019m pretty sure the new link is built based on values from table ZURL. The table has URLs for each client and systems such as it has the URL links for development, testing and production systems with P_SYSID and P_URL as the key fields.
The issue is, I donu2019t know where the http://werweabc.com ...Is coming from on the older docs. Can any one tell where it is where it is coming from?
I've debugged the transaction code FB03, but could not find from where the documents prior to the october release are getting this older link. I've checked READ_LINKS method of class CL_BINARY_RELATION but no luck.
Please help. I'm looking on how to get the URL link for the old documents.

This morning, my pages were displaying in DW CS4's Design
View the way they
always have, with the CSS and includes . This afternoon, they

[Solved] Severely broken system after update

I need help with system that doesn't boot after update.
I tried to make pacman -Syu on a system which was not updated since 2010 xmass... probably being overwhelmed by number of issues I did something wrong, but now the system is in a very bad state.
I think that the main issue was glibc update. I followed the instruction to install all other packages before glibc, but every second package was complaining about glibc (although they all updated). Then pacman became broken, but I solved this and finally everything got updated.
Everything looked fine right after update, but now the system is "unable to find root device" on boot.
I tried to boot with recent arch usb stick (cd drive is broken in the computer), but it doesn't boot (reboots right after "loading archiso.img"). I managed to boot with ubuntu usb stick. I chrooted to my arch partition using these instructions:

then, following pacman wiki I reinstalled linux, mkinitcpio and systemd.
It didn't help. The last thing I can think of is to reinstall all packages via chroot. Is there any handy way to do this, taking into account that some packages could have been installed from AUR (I don't care about them at this point, but I wouldn't like this to stop me from reinstalling all other packages)?
Any other ideas?

It's not a solution since arch installation usb stick doesn't work for me, as I mentioned above. I must either make this installation work, or move to ubuntu (gah!)

I managed to boot. After the error message at the beginning I'm left with "you can type exit to continue booting, but it will most likely fail"... it doesn't fail, and system appears to be working normally (well, except some error about consolekit when X is starting, probably unrelated).
Now the question is how to avoid this error message at the beginning...

Playback in viewer and canvass broken since QT update

I have a Macbook (OS10.5.8) 4 GB RAM, running FCP 7.0.3 that I use to capture video when I'm on a dive trip. I am working with HDV 1080 captured from a Sony DC9 camera. Everything worked fine until I updated QT to 7.6.9. Now playback in the canvass and viewer is messed up. It looks grainy amd and almost like some channels(?) are missing. I tried trashing preferences but that didn't help. When I log and capture, the capture window plays normally. If I put the clips in iMovie, they play normally. If I put the clips in the QT player itself, they play normally. View in FCP is sent to RGB. When will I learn not to update things when everything is working OK. I can't believe my stupidity!

First, download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (http://www.digitalrebellion.com/) and delete your fcp preferences. May help. If that doesn't work, you could try converting your material to prores using compressor. Do a short test first to see if it solves the problem. It will take a while and use up a fair amount of drive space, but prores is a much better format to work with.
Then, once you have a stable, working OS and Application combo, make a bootable clone of your startup drive using something like carboncopycloner. Once you've done this, you can update OS and Apps with impunity. If things go south, you can simply clone back to your startup drive and be back at work in an hour or two. I've got a clone on a second internal drive so I can simply change my startup disk and be back at work in a couple of minutes.

[CS4] Word Import severely broken/Interim Solution

As I said before on this topic,

The Word import has gone from already rather bad to worse with one of the upgrade patches. ...

I finally found a work-around. Strangely enough it was one that has been rattling in my head for a while, but I can't for the life of me remember where I got that idea!
The problem lies in Word's Bookmarks. These are not recognized by InDesign CS4/CS5 Import filter (but they are by CS3 and earlier!) and thus each one of them creates a mis-match in the following text, accumulating up to the end of each paragraph (or possibly the next one, it's too idiotic to check for those fine details). Only at the very end of the document, ID suddenly realizes it has a few text fragments left over, and decides to tack them on to the end.
With results like this:
and yes, these text fragments belong somewhere in the middle of the document! Even worse, here you can see it's text that's been displaced, but it also happens with pure text formatting. Bye-bye smooth text import, hello Mr. Angry Client!
I reported this issue to Adobe "Support" (hum hum), complete with test documents, and got the quite unexpected answer that it was unrealistic to expect "perfect import" because, well, my page size was different in InDesign, my margins were different, the paragraph spacing doesn't work the same as in Word ... so it was no wonder the text was "not the same after importing".
Ahhhh ... now I got that out of my system: the solution is to remove all Bookmarks in the Word file prior to importing. For Windows, you can make a small VB Macro:

but for OS X you have to take the manual route: go to menu Insert, select "Bookmark", point to one, select "Delete". Repeat until bored to death.
Now that I have done the work Adobe programmers should have done (that is, finding out what the d*** problem actually was) and present them with a Ready-to-Implement Solution (revise the code that handles bookmarks): WHEN WILL THEY FIX IT!?!?
Please don't say "CS6". I'm still on CS4, and since it got broken in that version, I must insist on a fix for CS4.

Just where did you send the report and test files? There's no way to attach files to the bug report form, so were you talking to some contract script-reading idiot who passes himself off for tech support these days, or did one of the engineering team actually get back to you and ask for the files? I suspect not the latter, and I can offer some suggestions for whom to email. In fact, I think I may put a bug in someone's ear now.
Customer support, by e-mail. They *did* ask for files and I sent a whole bunch of them, original Word files, ID files to show how they got imported, and even separate screen shots of the problem pages with circles highlighting the broken parts.

As far as getting a patch for CS4, it's always nice to see a romantic dreamer.
But Adobe broke it in CS4. I noticed it, working with CS4. I complained about it after noticing it in CS4, and I filed a customer support case (w/due documentation) for my version: CS4. It's Adobe's own fault, as they have such a bad customer support service that it cannot readily respond to complaints about the current version!
Sorry Peter, this has been discussed before extensively, and Adobe never looked into it before. Remember me asking if this was ever solved in CS5?
If you haven't escalated your case with customer support to a manager and then that manager's highest-level manager, like the DIRECTOR of customer support, that's a good thing to put into action. From there, insist that the case goes to the highest-level manager or DIRECTOR of technical support, so you can register it as a bug that will get attention, and at no charge to you for the tech-support call.
Allt this might just be a way to put makeup on an ugly and unchangeable situation, but, since you've already invested so much effort, why not give it one more try by depositing your investment on the highest-level person's desk?
