Attching photos to mail changes them to a file ...

Some time ago mail started changing photos in an email ( sending or received ) to an image file. So you have to click on it to open it. A real drag if you get an email with 20 images and you can't just quickly scroll through them
This seems to happen only with my desktop Mac Pro. It also happens with my Dad's new iMac. He gave up and now uses that loki software to get past this issue. The really strange part is my Macbook does NOT do this. If I drag a photo to the new message body, that photo appears in full. I've searched high and low and tried changing many settings to no avail. There has to be an explanation to this and I shouldn't have to use 3rd party software as a solution.

Try performing the second example in this blog post:

  • Mail changes extension of office files

    hi,
when i try to join a .doc file in a message with mail, it automatically changes the extension of the file in a .docc or .doc1 file, even when i enable the "keep office files integrity" option (or something like that i don't use the english version).
    anybody knows what to do?
    tanks

I found it! Why the extension changes.
It has to do with signatures!
When you place the PDF file just above the signature (or I guess inside), the extension changes name!
    This is my signature:
    Jonatan 'Kip' Kipowsky
    0709-XX XX XX
    [email protected]
Since I have TWO enters (for the air) above the line above my name, when I place the PDF file just above the line I place it INSIDE the signature.
I tried it high above the line and just over. Every time I placed it over, it changed the name, to .pdfdf and such.
    How did I find out?
I used at PDF file with spaces in the name, foregin letters (swedish), two different mail servers (smtp) and sent to two different adresses (yahoo.se and my own). I tried with text and without text in the mail. Tried waiting, so the message would be auto-saved and without. Tried all different ways. Yes, friends. For an hour I had no life!

    Kip

  • Loss of photo stream when changing iCloud E-Mail

I switched e-mail providers. My Apple ID was changed months ago with no problem.
Today I wanted to enter the correct e-mail address for iCloud. I followed the instructions of several posts on here and made the change on my iPod touch. (Also have and iPhone and iPad.) I clicked on merge as I was instructed to when restarting the account with the new e-mail address. However only 143 of almost 1,000 photos re-appeared in photo stream.
I'm not going to change the information on the iPhone or iPad until I can get this figured out.
    Comments? Suggestions?
    Thanks,

iCloud only keeps photo stream photos for 30 days, even though up to 1000 photos will remain on your devices until deleted.  When you re-enabled photo stream you only received photo stream photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.
To change your iCloud ID, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
However, to avoid losing photo stream photos, before deleting the account save them to your camera roll (if not already there).  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  Be sure to do this on your other devices first.
To get the missing photos back on your iPod, create a shared photo stream that includes them on one of your other devices and invite yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99).

  • Listing order and dates of my photos have all changed and now it is a mess in my photo library! I tried to list them again by date, but it didn't fix the problem. What to do?

Listing order and dates of my photos have all changed and now it is a mess in my photo library! I tried to list them again by date, but it didn't fix the problem. What to do?

If your preferences keep getting messed up try this:   make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • In Aperature, how do you keep photos in the order you changed them to while editing? When you go to burn them to a disk, the order changes from what you see on the screen.

I need to know how to save my photos to a disk for a client in the order I changed them while working on them. I photographed a party with another photographer and joined both photographers photos. Now I want to keep them in the order the event took place and how I rearranged them.

The exported photos will show on the disk like any sequence of files, sorted by date, name, filetype, etc. To help your client to sort them according to your sequence, rename the files and append a sequence number. You can rename them on export by using an export preset, for example the name format "Custom name with index". That will append a number to the filename, according to the position in the album you are exporting.

  • I created a new collection and put all of my same photos in them as a previous collection, then I changed them to black and white and both collections changed. How do I keep the first collection colour and make the second collection black and white.

I created a new collection and put all of my same photos in them as a previous collection, then I changed them to black and white and both collections changed. How do I keep the first collection colour and make the second collection black and white.

For the second collection, choose the option to make virtual copies. Then you can turn the virtual copies to black & white, leaving the first collection in color. If you want file copies of the B & W images you can export copies.

  • Is it possible to retrieve photo book after I accidentally changed theme?

I created a photo book with all the pictures and description. I ordered it. Then I wanted to order another one but in a different size. So I supposed that it was all going be saved and clicked on the change theme button where I can choose from the different sizes. Unfortunately I lost all the type editing. Now I don't remember which types and colours I used on the individual pages.Anyone knows if its possible to retrieve the book from my apple account?  I need the same book what I already ordered just in a different size..Cheers.

I need the same book what I already ordered just in a different size..Cheers.
If you need to book in a different size you need to reformat it. The book, that was sent to apple was a PDF, and that cannot be used by Apple to create the smaller sized book.
So I supposed that it was all going be saved and clicked on the change theme button where I can choose from the different sizes. Unfortunately I lost all the type editing.
If your Time Machine backup goes back far enough in time, you could try to restore the iPhoto library from before you changed the book theme and then try to find out what the colours and fonts have been.

  • How can I stop Mac Mail from underlining hyperlinks and changing them to blue?

It doesn't look like you can. But that's how you tell they are a hyperlink. Is this a problem?

  • Mail Changing Attachment Names

Does anyone find that their Mac Mail changes attachment names into something like ??Q?documentname?=? so you are unable to open them unless you rename and save?
I think I have narrowed it down to only happening with attachments that have a long(ish!) filename.  It only happens when a Mac computer recieves.  Doesn't matter if a Mac or Windows machine sends the mail.
Any help appreciated as 50% of my attachments are coming through in this format.  V frustrating!

Are you sure your RECEIVING email client isn't doing the conversion?
    Thank you for the help.
It wasn't actually the email client at the other end, but rather a third-party photo app on my iPad - Photogene.
I had been sending the screenshot as an email attachment from within Photogene. It seems that this app was converting it to the JPEG format. When I simply chose the image from the Camera Roll - directly in the Mail app - the PNG format was kept.
    Thanks again.

  • Aperture won't export all photos to Mail

Most of the time, Aperture won't export all my chosen photos to Mail. If I chose 8 photos, it may only export 4 of them and no matter what I do, nothing changes. Tried it on Entourage and it was exactly the same. Size is not the issue, I'm sending them in small sizes and the total attachment is about 1 MB. Anyone had this issue and know what to do? I do have NIK plug ins installed if that helps any.

I would suggest you do a library repair to see if that clears it up.

  • Open photos in mail using iPhoto

If I Control-click on a photo in Mail, I'd like to be able to open it in iPhoto. There's a tremendous list of applications to choose from in the "Open With >" menu, including some highly dubious ones, like Safari, Make Button.exe, and Conditional Mode Change.exe. But not iPhoto. I find htat passing strange.
How can I add iPhoto to the list, or better yet add a menu item just for opening in iPhoto. Also, can I get rif of some of tht dead wood?

If you want to control the size of the photos select them in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder using the various size options available during export - then attach to your e-mail from the folder

  • Shrink Photo for Mail Signature

I am trying to add a photo to mail.  Any photo I use gets enlarged.  Any suggestions?

    Hey there coachflash,
It sounds like you are using a photo in your email signature and rather than staying where you resized it in the mail preferences, it keeps going back to original size. I would change the size of the image with the Preview application, save it, and use the updated picture in your signature:
    Preview 5.x: Resize an image
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5936
    Change an image’s dimensions
    Choose Tools > Adjust Size.
Enter new values for width and height, or choose a common size from the “Fit into” pop-up menu.
To resize the image by a percentage, choose “percent” from the pop-up menu next to the Width and Height fields, and enter the percentage in those fields.
To ensure that the image keeps its original proportions, select “Scale proportionally.” If you change either the width or height, the other value changes to maintain the proportions. If you choose a size from the “Fit into” pop-up menu, the image’s width or height may be smaller than the chosen size to maintain the proportions.
To make the image’s dimensions smaller without losing any detail, deselect “Resample image” before changing the width or height.
To resize multiple images at the same time, display the images in the same window, select them in that window’s sidebar, and then choose Tools > Adjust Size.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • How do i rotate photos in mail 2.1.3

I don't think you can. You need to open them in Preview or some other photo editing application.

  • Why does not photo e-mail work in Photoshop elements 12 and Windows 8.1?

I've tried to send photo e-mail with my new computer. We have used this function for many years with Elements 5 and Windows XP,

More info: First time I got a message to confirm my e.mail address returning an answere and a code, The problem is that I've got no e-mail. I have tried both my two e-post programs, Thunderbird and Outlook (within Windows8) and I hav tried them both to bi 'Standard program'.

  • Cannot edit text sufficiently within the Photo E-mail service (Elements 11)

Greetings to all, a little help required please....
Just purchased Elements 11 - excellent product at the price and am having a great deal of fun using it.
One frustrating flaw within the Photo E-mail service....
I've been using the Adobe e-mail service and it sends e-mail just fine having set up the account as required.
Each new e-mail appears with the text "Here are the files I want to share with you."
Now I'd like to replace that with some different text.  I can delete it and replace it on the first editing page, and it stays there after I click 'Next' to the following 'Customise Layout' section.
Clicking on 'Next' after this page, we have the final e-mail page, and the text has reverted back to 'Here are the files I want to share with you' again......
I can delete it again, but cannot type in any further text anywhere on that screen.
    Any help on this??
Shame, because the programme generally is superb.  Have transformed a number of pics already, and it would be nice to use the e-mail prog that's built in as I'd like to use it, adding text as required.  Otherwise, why have all the font and layout choices available if not??

I tried the same and its changing at my side.
Try to reset you preferences :
Open PSE just to the Welcome Screen and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Mac: Cmd + Opt + Shift) and keep pressing.
Click on organizer from the Welcome Screen but keep pressing the keyboard keys - don't let up.
You will get a little dialog box asking if you want to delete the settings file. Click "Yes."  You can let go of the keyboard keys now.
This will rebuild the file for you and often solves the issue.
Try to send the email again.
    Thanks
    Harshit
