Attemping to download iOS 8.0.2 hangs

I have an iPad mini that I am trying to update to iOS 8.0.2. Currently running 7.1.2. When I went in to update it under "Software Update" it already said "downloading..." It has now been saying that for a couple days. To my knowledge I never actually initiated this update but I do need to update it. I have high speed internet and it is connected to my wi-fi and I have successfully downloaded other app updates without issue. I have shut down the iPad and let it sit for a while but it still says "Downloading.." on the Software update page. How do I cancel or restart the download for this update?

I echo Dragon4486. I upgraded my iPad & iPhone and it isn't worth it right now. I think there might be lots of people still trying to get access to the download and thus slowing down your download. But regardless, I regret upgrading and wish I would have waited a few months (esp with my iPhone because I'm constantly running into glitches just with stuff that works on iOS7).

i am trying to download ios 5.1.1(on air) as my ipad is giving some trouble like hanging in between n other problems, it goes on downloading but when it goes to updates it shows < error occured while upodating 5.1.1> any solution for this issue please help me

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

Sometimes simply restarting your iTunes, the computer and the iPad is all that it takes to correct an issue like this so try that. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, and restart the iPad. Then try the sync again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

If you're already running iOS 5.1.1 that is the most current version. As such, no issue exists.

If it is asking for account details then it might just need you to confirm your account before it lets you proceed. Maybe the terms and conditions changed since last time or something like that. Try signing into your Apple account in iTunes on a computer first to check that. Then restart the phone and try again.

Try try again. Thre server are heavily loaded. The connection dropped becasue the computer thinks it waited to long. Disabling your security software on the computer can help resolve this too.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
