Attempt to access external website keeps getting grabbed by SBS 2003

Hi folks,
I have an old SBS 2003 server that recently switched their external web hosts. They are configured with the same FQDN for both their active directory domain and their public domain (westsidebaby.org). I went into DNS on the SBS server to simply update the
WWW record and the Windows DNS equivalent of the domain @ record. Now when any internal network user tries to access the website, they get the Welcome to Small Business Server 2003 page on the local IIS. External users can get to the website no problem.
There is also an A record for partners.westsidebaby.org in the internal DNS that points to their old web server and that resolves just FINE. NSLOOKUP from both the server and internal clients to the local DNS server give me the correct external address.
Pinging www.westsidebaby.org from the local subnet resolves correctly as well. I have done ipconfig /flushdns on the server, as well as the clients I am testing, flushed/deleted/cleared the caches and browsing histories from the various browsers (IE, Chrome
and Firefox), all in very logical, intentional order before attempting to type the addy.
If I change a client's DNS server to an external source, I can resolve to the new website just fine. Just can't access AD or server shares any more. Ugh.
No matter what I seem to do, barring resolving through an outside DNS server, typing www.westsidebaby.org from inside still gives me the dang SBS page. I have also setup a HOSTS file to no avail. OMG, I am FIT TO SPIT. Any ideas?

Hi,
This is happening because of DNS misconfiguration. Try and stop Default Website as a test and browse the site. Also check if there is a host header on Default website pointing to westsidebaby.org

First, if you've moved the iPhoto library to an external drive, make sure that drive is mounted by opening it in the Finder.
The issue can be caused by sharing the photo library on a network (against Apple's advice) or by opening it in more than one local user account at the same time. You may be able to clear the error by logging out or restarting the computer. If not, do as follows.
Quit iPhoto if it's running, locally or on any file-sharing client. Select the iPhoto Library in the Finder. Usually it's in the Pictures folder, but you may have moved it somewhere else. Right-click or control-click the library icon and select
              Show Package Contents
from the popup menu. In the folder that opens, navigate to
    Database/apdb/lockfile.pid
and move that file, if it exists, to the Trash. Close the Finder window.

  • I get message when attempting to access many websites - unrusted connection, please help

I have been accessing many websites via firefox for many years, but over the past3-4 days I have been receiving the message - untrusted website, with the technical details informing me that www.google.com uses an invalid security certificate because no issuer chain was provided. I have uninstalled firefox 31, and replaced it with No:30, but it has made no difference because the problem still persists in this version as well. I have tried going through chrome and yahoo to those same sites but I experience very slow dial up type speeds in pages both loading and opening through those other browsers, and I am now feeling very frustrated in going onto the net at all presently, and I've just upgraded my data usage through my provider www.slingshot.co.nz from 40 to 80 gigs per month, but this is now also feeling like a lost cause as well. I am hoping someone at firefox may be able to help resolve this very troublesome issue, although I have also read some other stories contributed on this same matter, but I do not know if they were ever resolved either. Please help because I am now at my wits end upon it and have nothing else able to do, including what to do with the trouble shooter I downloaded at your suggestion from firefox - Thankyou.

Meanwhile, assuming the worst (malware), here are some suggestions for clean up.
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
In particular, be on the lookout for Browser Safeguard (or similar name) or Sendori.
Then, in Firefox, open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Finally, you can "mop up" remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools suggested in this support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
    Any change?

  • Server 2012 - Can't access external website from internal domain with same name. Tried everything.

    Hello All.
I have read loads of forums and tried numerous fixes and configurations, but nothing seems to work and I am extremely frustrated at this point.
I have a client where I setup Server 2012 Standard with Exchange 2013. After reading best practice documentation for DNS naming and reasons not to use ".LOCAL" I opted to use ".com.na" in which case the Internal Domain Name and Internet
Website now has the same name.
When attempting to open the extarnal website eg. "www.company.com.na" from a client PC within the internal "company.com.na" Domain, I keep getting error "403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this
directory or page using the credentials that you supplied."
I should also mention, the website is hosted by an ISP and not locally.
I added a "www" Host record in the Forward Lookup Zone, I have added the url and ip address to the Hosts file on a client pc (Windows 7) and even tried setting up Split-Brains DNS. Nothing seems to work.
Running a Tracert takes me to the correct public ip address of the website, but I keep getting this 403 error.
I am so sick and tired of this issue that iI am at the point of backing up the Exchange and re-rolling the entire server with the ".local" DNS domain name. I have a mirror setup in a VMWare environment and simply using "rendom" to rename
the domain seems to cause new issues with Exchange connectivity.
Any pointers and help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Hentie Loots

I opted to use ".com.na" in which case the Internal Domain Name and Internet Website
    now has the same name.
This ends up with a split-DNS stup for internal and external resolution which requires extra administration tasks and attention from the administrators.
When attempting to open the extarnal website eg. "www.company.com.na" from a client PC within the internal "company.com.na" Domain, I keep getting error "403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view
this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied."
This means that you are able to reach the Website but it is responding with the access denied error message. That should be checked on the middleware level so if this is IIS running then I would recommend asking them in IIS forum: http://forums.iis.net/
If this is a Website that is completely managed by your ISP then I would recommend checking with them.

  • I have a Macbook Pro and can no longer access Number I keep getting an error message 1712 please help

I have a MacBook Pro and for some unknown reason I can't open numbers I keep getting a message error -1712 I can't open old documnents not the program

-1712 is a time-out error. It means the application (Numbers) is taking too long to do somthing. The 'something' is often attempting to open a corrupted file.
Holding the shift key, as suggested by Jerry, prevents Nmbers from trying to reopen files that were open when Numbers was last quit. For future reference, you might consider, before quitting Numbers, closing all files you will not require in your next session. Even ignoring the possibility of another corrrupted file bringing this problem on again later, not re-opening the files you do not need in the next session will shorten the launch time for Numbers.
