Attempt to download non-file element

When I click on certain link buttons at amazon.com a small window opens. The window is titled Opening ref=nb_sb_noss. In the window is the text "You have chosen to open ref=nb_sb_noss which is a: application/octet-stream from http://amazon.com" and it asks what I want to do with this file including opening or saving the file.
If I close this window I can click again and get the normal activity intended by the link.

I think you need to change certain settings on your Router under the wireless part. Login to the Router setup page and click on the wireless tab and change the settings for 2.4GHz wireless network...
- Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Click on the sub tab "Advanced Wireless Settings"
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

    created by bob.treitman in Adobe Acrobat.com Services - View the full discussionIf it says "Anonymous" then the only way that it would have gone out to all of your contacts would be if you sent it to them through your email client. And it would be in your email's Sent folder (not Adobe Send's). If you look at https://cloud.acrobat.com/sentfiles, does it show that the file has been Viewed? If the Views column shows a 0, then nobody has yet viewed it. If you're concerned, you can select the file by clicking the check box, then select Unshare. That will make the file inaccessible to anyone other than yourself. https://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-7392942-745487/900-90/SentTab .png  If the reply above answers your question, please take a moment to mark this answer as correct by visiting: https://forums.adobe.com/message/7392942#7392942 and clicking ‘Correct’ below the answer Replies to this message go to everyone subscribed to this thread, not directly to the person who posted the message. • WRT610N V2 HELP!!! Wireless resets every time I attempt to download any file.

    So I recently upgraded my wireless router w/ the WRT610N V2. Easy setup and everything was working great, atleast w/ my wired connection. I go to set the wireless and everything was running great i was getting great connectivity and then I went to do simple software updates. As soon as I began downloading these udates my wirelss signal dissappeared but i came back shortly after it did. I thought it was a fluke so I went to download th updates again and the same thing happened the wireless signal dropped. Pretty soon I realized that this was happening when ever I attempted to download anything from the net. What shocked me is that my wired connection had no problems, I could update and download. My setup my wireless as a WPA2, and I'm using the 2.4 ghz band b/c the 5 ghz band is crap. If anyone has come accross this issue and has resovled it please help.
    P.S. I have comcast cable internet. I know I know but they are the only descent providers in my area. God I'd give anything to have a Fios connection.

  • Safari quits unexpectedly after attempting to download any file.

    Hi iv'e had this problem for a while now, every time i try to download any file from safari it quits,and i get a message saying safari has quit unexpectedly. I have disabled plug-ins but the problem still isn't fixed.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
    Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
    Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • When downloading, why do I get a message saying "Safari cant open file because the file has moved since it was downloaded?"  I just attempted to download the file from a website.  Thanks.

    When downloading from a website, I get a message that says, "Safari cant open th file--- because the file has been moved since you downloaded it.  How do I correct this problem.  It wont let me open attachments from yahoo email either.  Thanks.

    EDIT:
    After posting I see this question has the tag of "windows". I don't know if this applies to the Windows version or not.
    The only time I see this message is if I download something, trash it, AND empty the trash. If I don't empty the trash, it finds it there. It will find it wherever I move it to, unless it is was in the trash and emptied.
    Using Finder, is the downloaded file in your Downloads folder?
    Maybe if you go to Safari/Preferences/General and change the location for downloads to something else then change it back to Downloads it might correct it.

  • Decompression failed errors when Safari attempt to download .zip files

    iMac
    Safari - 2.0.4 (419.3)
    Mac OS X 10.4.9
    For some reason I can no longer successfully download any Apple Widgets or other software downloads with a .zip extension. Safari simply reports a 'Decompression failed' error message within the Downloads window.
    The zip files appar on my Desktop but I cannot open them with either BomArchiveHelper or Stuffit 11.0.2
    The only things I have recently done is to install MYOB which I believe comes with it's own Stuffit version as part of the application but I am not sure if this is related as I have also applied the latest software updates from the Apple site.

    ... but I am not sure if this is related as I have also applied the latest software updates from the Apple site.
    That probably doesn't make any difference, since Stuffit Expander is not a part of Apple's software and updates.
    You might try reinstalling Stuffit Expander in case any of its components were overwritten by MYOB. Finding Stuffit Expander's installer isn't the easiest thing to do from the front page of their site. It can be downloaded here:
    http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/download.html
    It requires an email address to get the download link. Just use a junk address if that concerns you. But it does have to be a valid address so you can receive the link they'll send.

  • On websites I can never load a pdf file, the screen just stays blank and never shows it is even attempting to download the file

    I go to www.copyright.gov. On homepage I select 'FAQ'. In 'FAQ' I select, under 'What does copyright protect?' I select the link "What works are protected." My location bar at the top now reads www.(in pale grey) copyright.gov(in dark black) /circs/circ01.pdf(again, in pale grey) and my screen is completely blank and there was no indication that it ever attempted to load. When I attempt the same procedure in Safari I get the pdf page.

    You have Acrobat Pro on your system. It will try to open PDFs, and of course it will fail. You must uninstall it. Then, you will need a PDF reader. So install Adobe Reader. That seems quite simple, but perhaps something is wrong. If anything goes wrong with these two steps (1) uninstall Acrobat Pro (2) install Adobe Reader, then please let us know the details.

    Firefox is crashing when I attempt to download a file. Everything works until I close Firefox and then attempt to re-open the browser then it crashes. I tried deleting the download file in my profile folder but it didn't work.

    Downgrade to an older nightly that works for a week or so, then test again to see if the bug's still there. In the mean time, report the bug on Bugzilla if it hasn't already been. There's really nothing you can do about bugs in nightlies.
    (A similar sort of bug that triggered 60 seconds after opening, every time, was what got me out of using nightlies as my main browser.)

  • Will not allow me to download PDF files (I have to go to a non-firefox exployer to get it). Do I need a plug-in?

    I cannot seem to download PDF files. When I attempt to download the file, it just shows me a blank white screen. In order for me to download a PDF file, I have to use my regular Internet Explorer.
    Is there a plug-in or something in Firefox that I need in order to view PDF files?

    When you installed Foxit Reader, did you opt out of the Ask Toolbar installation?
    If not, click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Extensions and remove it in there. Then try again.
    If it doesn't work, download Adobe Reader from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO (disable Foxit Reader in the Extensions menu first).

  • Downloading linked files via Safari after Leopard upgrade

    Prior to my Leopard upgrade, when I would go to my audio site, I could click on the link and it would play in quicktime no problem, if I wanted to download the file... I would use "option" click.. again no problem. Now after the upgrade, if I click the file, still plays no problem but when I attempt to download the file using "option" click, it downloads the html address as opposed to the actual linked file. And when I use "control" click to emulate a right click, none of those options work either. I get the same result. It downloads the html link only and not the file. This all worked fine prior to the upgrade and my friend who also upgraded is also getting the same exact results. I couldn't find anything in the Safari options so I am at a loss..... Any suggestions?

    I have the same problem... Prior to upgrading to Leopard, I had a folder named "Downloads" located on my desktop that Firefox saved files to. After upgrading to Leopard, I set the new Apple-supplied Downloads folder (located in my home folder) as the default location, but Firefox still refused to download files.
    I manually moved everything from my own Downloads folder (located on the Desktop) to the Apple-supplied folder (in my home folder) and created an alias (for convenience) for this folder on the desktop. Alas, Firefox still refused to download.
    Eventually, I just deleted the alias to the Downloads folder located on my desktop and now Firefox will download just fine. Kinda irritating...

  • Downloading PDF file with a servlet

    I'm working on a web application that dynamicaly creates a PDF file and then writes each character to the ServletOutputStream. Ideally, the browser is supposed to recognize the "application/pdf" MIME type and force the file to be downloaded (or opened from current location if the user should choose). When I test it on my local system, the file downloads but it uses the servlet as the file name. On my webserver I get the following problems.
    1) On all the browsers I've tested (except Internet Explorer), the output is being printed in ASCII to the display which keeps the file from downloading. Internet Explorer is the only browser that will actually download the file.
    2) When it does attempt to download the file, it is creating a file with the servlet as the name as opposed to the filename that I am assigning during creation.
    I've been reading all the related posts that I could find in these Forums but haven't been able to find a solution. If anybody has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate your knowledge. Please note that I have set up MIME-mapping for the PDF extension in the WEB.XML file on my web server.
    Here is some servlet code that handles the PDF creation and download:
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
    InputStream in = null;
    ServletOutputStream out = null;
    String dir = "/www/mydirectory/";
    try {
    // Create the PDF file and retrieve the filename
    String filename = PDFCreator.main();
    //Flush the response stream and then reset it for writing a PDF to the display
    response.reset();
    response.setContentType("application/pdf");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename="+filename);
    out = response.getOutputStream();
    in = new BufferedInputStream( new FileInputStream(dir+filename));
    int ch;
    while ( (ch = in.read()) != -1 ) {
    out.print( (char)ch );
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    } finally {
    if( in != null ) {
    in.close();
    if( out != null ) {
    out.flush();
    out.close();

    Your code looks correct.
    Apparently other people too have been having problems with pdf's. These links may help you solve the problem.

    Redirecting may not be a good idea due to url hacking. Streaming the output would be the best way to go.

  • How can I download multiple files simultaneously? e.g. 6 files

    When I attempt to download multiple files (say 5 in number), the Mozilla allows only two files too be downloaded simultaneously. I wanted to change the option of downloading six files together but did not find the feature that could do so. Can you please kindly help or there is no such feature in Mozilla?

    There is a hidden preference for this. Check out this article: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server Network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
    If you haven't changed Firefox settings through about:config before, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

  • How do you install Thunderbird on a new Apple iPad 2?  When attempting to download, I get a message that Safari cannot open the file.

    Can anyone provide instructions regarding downloading Thunderbird on an Apple iPad 2?   I attempted to download on the iPad through Google and when the download attempted to start it gave a message that Safari could not download this file.

    You can only install apps from the iTunes App Store.   That's why Safari won't download it.   Even if it did download it, you couldn't install it as iOS wouldn't recognize it as an iOS app (which Thunderbird isn't).

  • Error Message on Wiki When Attempting to Download File

    I have a wiki successfully set up. Authenticated users are able to log in and make changes to text, add pages, etc.
    The problem is, I get an error message any time I try to download a file:
    The wiki service is most certainly turned on.
    File type doesn't seem to matter. I've tried everything from Pages documents, to PDFs, to Illustrator files, with the exact same results.
    As expected, the wiki is available from the outside without issue.
    I cannot see anything obvious in the wiki logs, but, I'm not really sure what I am looking at.
