Attempt to reinstall Acrobat CS3

when I attempt to reinstall Acrobat CS3 the installer asks for a Premier CS4 disc. I did try out Premier CS4 years ago but have long since deleted the 30 day trial. So what does it take to reinstall Acrobat so I can get back to work. Did installing the trial of Photoshop CS6 mess up CS3?

Erm, where to begin? You are trying to install an older version over a newer version after years only after having trialled an even newer version? This cannot work. There are dependencies for shared components everywhere. Attempt to manually uninstall everything (including the CS6 Beta!), run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, clean out the remnants and then reinstall in proper order.

  • Attempting to reinstall Acrobat Pro ver 8. Error: a more functional product installed"

My computer crashed a few months ago which required reinstalling all software. Acrobat Pro was not showing up on my programs menu yesterday so I assumed I had not reinstalled it. I attempted the installation and received error: "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate."
Assuming that it was installed, with updates, I decided to uninstall it. It is not listed as an installed program in Control Panel / Programs and Features; however, there is an Acrobat 8.0 folder in Program Files/Adobe. After this didn't work, I uninstalled Adobe Reader 9.0 but it made no difference.
The following are installed: Adobe AIR, Adobe Captivate 4, Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium, Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Standard, and Adobe Reader 9.1 (which I reinstalled today).
I called tech support, but since it is not the current version, have to pay for support. Can anyone help with this problem?
    Thanks!

You are not supposed to have Reader and Acrobat Pro installed on the same computer. Additionally, your CS 4 Production Premium should have come with Acrobat Pro 9! If that is installed, you should not try to install 8. See if you can fix the installation of CS 4 Production Premium installation to get it to install Acrobat Pro 9. If that is not possible, I'd advise deactivating your Adobe Software, running the CS 4 Cleansscript  and then try re-installing fram scratch.

  • Reinstall Flash CS3 for Mac OSX

Recently had to replace the hard drive on my Mac Book Pro. Data transfer to the new hard drive went well EXCEPT for my attempts to reinstall Flash CS3 and Flash Player (I'm forgetting the name of the latest and greatest version of the media player--forgive my temporary ignorance). I followed all of the procedures outlined in the ReadMe file. Have tried it several times to no avail. I keep getting an error message at the end of the reinstall process and the program will not open. All of the application files appear to be on my hard rive. Something is missing or needs to be repaired. I just don't know where to start to find out what needs to be repaired or replaced or updated. I suspect that because there have been numerous updates to Flash player, something related is interfering with the reinstall process. Any advice help would be appreciated.
    Cheers.

    You'll find a debug folder and a 10.3.183.90 folder. It's in the
    latter. It'll be a DMG named 10_3_183_90.dmg.

I am trying to reinstall Dreamweaver CS3 from the CD after having computer issues.  Now getting error "You can only install one Adobe product at a time.  Please complete the other installation before attempting to install ......."  There is no other Adobe product installing.  I have used the Adobe Cleaner Tool many times and uninstalled other Adobe Products but neither has worked.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled this CD version of Dreamweaver several times when changing computers and after having computer issues. A google search of the problem suggested it may be an error related to the number of times I can reinstall this product due to licensing issues.  Please help.

Absolutely not. You are misinterpreting things. The activation check never happens when just running the installer, only much later. It means what it says - there is another "install" pending/ active on your system, meaning somewhere there is an (invisible) process still blocking things. Either way, since you haven't provided any real technical info, we can't advise specifically. if you are on Windows, you may want to check your task manager and terminate any setup.exe and msiexec.exe processes plus potentially may need to manually fix/ delete some registry keys. For anything beyond that you will have to be much more specific.

  • Reinstalling Acrobat 8 Pro from CS3 Design Premium, asking for Photoshop Elements 6 CD??

    Hi.
I use a Macbook Pro with Leopard OS X version 10.5.8, 2.6 Ghz Intel Core Duo, $ GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
I use Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium which came with Acrobat 8 Professional. Now, for a while I've been having issues updating Acrobat because it said it had been modified blah blah and something about plugins being disabled, so to rectify reinstall and run updates. I've seen alot of people on forums with this same issue.
For a long time I ignored this as the program was still working, but today it urked me enough to unistall (which I did by dragging it from the applications to trash) and try to reinstall.
So I tried. Put the CD in, selected only Acrobat 8 Pro for reinstallation, all went well until it asked me to put in the Photoshop Element 6 CD.... which I never had. Although the program does come on the CD. So i'm left confused, without acrobat pro and wishing i had never uninstalled!
I hope this makes some sort of sense. Any help would be much appreciated!

I resorted to using the live chat feature that Adobe have on the website. We found that once everything was uninstalled and then just reinstalled Acrobat alone, I wasn't asked to insert the Photoshop Elements 6 CD to continue and everything was fine. No problems. But, when I tried to then reinstall the rest of the suite, it asked for the CD.
So, the way to avoid it asking for the CD was to uninstall CS3 Design Premium completely and then reinstall all the programs. And everything seems to be working fine.
Maybe this was an obvious solution, but I didn't want to risk uninstalling all the programs only to be asked for a non-existent CD when reinstalling.
Anyway, hopefully someone else will find this helpful.

  • Need to reinstall Acrobat 7.1 Pro on Panther

I'm running OS X 10.3.9 and meet all other system and hardware requirements for CS2.3 Premium, which I recently purchased and installed.
The instructions for CS 2.3 Premium installation said to skip Acrobat 7 Pro and install Acrobat 8 after the Suite install.
    Word-for-word from the instructions:
    4. Select the components you would like to install, except Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, and click Continue ...
    7. ...insert the Creative Suite 2.3 Premium Upgrade with Acrobat 8 Professional DVD.
    8. Copy the Acrobat 8 Professional folder onto your hard disk ...
My set of 4 disks had no options for a custom install, so I proceeded to install everything and uninstalled 7 later, then installed 8 as instructed.
When I realized Acrobat 8 won't run on Panther, it was too late. In the Read Me file on the Acrobat 8 disk, it said I would need 10.4.3 or higher. Why wasn't this stated in the initial Suite install instructions?
There's some misleading info here. I opened a case with Adobe, and the case was "Withdrawn." Here's the response I got:
"A Technical Support specialist has reviewed your support request. We regret to inform you that complimentary support for Adobe Creative Suite 2.0 Is not available and/or has expired." (Form letter?)
But they kindly provided a link for service contract sign-up. I also received an email promoting new products...
I have already run an uninstall for Acrobat 8 and ferreted out and trashed all Acrobat 7 files using Adobe's instructions on this site.
Is there a way to reinstall Acrobat Professional 7 without moving the entire Suite to the trash as described in the Adobe Creative Suite "Read Me First" file?
When I put in the Suite install disk, I get this message after entering my admin. password:
"The application Adobe Installer has unexpectedly quit"
Could my disks be defective after only one use?
I also ran some maintenance and found out I have a corrupt user Pref:
    /Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.ami.installer.plis
(No "t" at the end on log report)
I've searched this site and haven't seen that anyone has had a similar problem. Does any of this sound familiar? Any words of wisdom?
    If it helps ...
    Current hardware/software:
    G4 450 APG, with 1.75 GB memory.
Hard drive (new, Maxtor STM320080A) OS X 10.3.9 on the 1st partition (98.18 GB) OS 9.2.1 on the 2nd partition (29.92 GB)
Purchased & installed CS 2.3 shortly after replacing hard drive and installing Panther.

Thank you for your input. I realize now that the problem is bigger than that. I've done a lot of research since I wrote the initial post, and I think there are compatibility issues.
All my other CS2.3 applications erred out after uninstalling Acrobat 8 and the remnants of 7. After doing some research, I found that when installing from the Suite, some programs have shared files that can be deleted unintentionally after uninstalling individual apps.
I ended up deleting the entire CS2.3 Suite.
In the CS2 Read Me First file, that the recommended OSes for CS2.3 are Mac OS X v.10.2.8 through v.10.3.8 (10.3.4 through 10.3.8 recommended; G5 requires v.10.3 or later.) 10.3.9 is never mentioned. I was sure my OS was compatible when I purchased the Suite. Wrong, obviously!
The packaging on the Suite says 10.4.3 is required. The upgrade disk in the Suite for Acrobat 8 is the only app. that requires 10.4.3. If you follow the Suite installation instructions, it says NOT to install Acrobat 7. There is no word about system compatibility on the initial Suite instructions, and Read Me First files weren't updated with the Suite package (I'm sure the "Premium" marketing didn't included thatjust a repackaging of the original Suite with some add-ons.)
I have decided to reformat my hard drive and install OS 10.4.3.
There are also upgrades and patches available on Adobe's site that need to be made to ALL the CS2 applications. I have downloaded these and will save them outside of my machine so I can update as soon as I reinstall CS2 on the reformatted drive.
Many sites I've gone to show numerous problems with the CS2 Suite (CS3, too), many due to different issues than mine.
I still welcome any feedback about this and if there's anything I've overlooked, please comment.
I hope someone can learn from my mistake. This takes a lot of time and research, and I guess I didn't expect it to be this troublesome! And I am still researching ...

  • Acrobat CS3 will not install in Windows 7

I have a new computer and just installed Windows 7 (32 bit). I needed to install CS2 to complete some legacy projects and then installed CS3. Every component installed fine except Acrobat. I have uninstalled, deactivated both CS2 and CS3...and then installed CS3. No luck. I can reinstall CS2 (including Acrobat) with no problems...but Acrobat CS3 refuses to install. There have been many postings here saying that the Acrobat 8.1 update is needed, but that only works if Acrobat 8 is installed. I can't get that far.

Yeah, I think it falls into the same category of problems as "not a valid win32 application", "invalid signature", and "unknown publisher" messages ... usually all of which relate to installers getting damaged on the download.
At any rate, I'm glad you got things working again.

  • Do I need to reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro ?

Instructions on my CS5 Design standard say i need to uninstall earlier versions of Acrobat 9 Pro.  I have Acrobat 9 Pro that I installed alongside CS3. Are the versions different or can i skip this step and use CS5 with my already installed version?

If you are at version 9.5.5 that was the end of the line for Acrobat 9.x.  You are correct that Acrobat 9 is no longer supported.  Adobe is only supporting Acrobat X and Acrobat XI at this time.
If you need to reinstall Acrobat 9 though you can still download the installer bits here:  Download Adobe CS5 Free Trials – All Direct Links without Akamai | ProDesignTools
Make sure to follow the directions carefully and sign into the Adobe Trials page first with your Adobe ID.

  • Problem reinstalling Acrobat 8 because of AE CS4 Trial

    Hi there!
I'm using CS3 Design Premium. I was trying to reinstall Acrobat 8 because I can't update it anymore. But during reinstallation it stops and asks me for an After Effects CS4 disk, which I don't own. When I click cancel, the reinstallation stops without Acrobat 8. I had the trial of AE CS4 installed, but removed it allready. How can I reinstall Acrobat 8 without the AE CS4 interruption? I tried the cleaning script, but I can't chose AE CS4 there.

I got it to work. Try this patch

  • Problem reinstalling Acrobat

A couple of years ago I bought Adobe CS3 Web Premium. About six months or so ago, I downloaded Photoshop Elements 6 for the Mac, just to try it out. I decided I didn't really need another photo processing program, so I deleted it after the trial period was up.
I am now trying to reinstall Acrobat from the CS3 package, and the install gets to a certain point and then says that it needs me to insert the Photoshop Elements 6 disc. I never had nor do I have that disk as I never purchased the program.
I looked in the directories and tried to find whatever is still on the computer from PSE 6 and I can't find anything. I deleted the files in the library, but that's it.
Any ideas?  I really need to get Acrobat back up and running as I have a number of pdf files to create.
    Thanks,
    Carole

I found an program that was supposed to unistall it, but it didn't work.
Then I thought I'd go to Adobe and redownload it, reinstall it, and then
uninstall it, but it's no longer available. Only PSE 8 is available. I still
can't get the CS3 disk to install anything as it keeps stopping and wanting
    the PSE6 disk.

  • Unable to repair, delete or reinstall Acrobat Elements 6.0

When attempting to reinstall a corrupted version of Acrobat Elements 6.0, I receive an error message that says Error 1606. Could not access network location ?/;xlstart."  This is a fatal error and the machine is not on a network. There is no option offered to state a path to xlstart even if I knew where it normally is found.
Does anyone have an idea how to spoof the system into allowing an uninstall to run?

Here is an article that has some suggestions for the 1606 install error.

  • Printer spooler error when attempting to install Acrobat Pro (also Reader)

I tried to install the trial version of Acrobat Pro today.  Installation would not complete due to an inability to stop the print spooler.
After this failure to install, I was no longer able to access my printer via the previously installed Acrobat Reader.  I uninstalled Reader and attempted to reinstall it, only to discover the same print spooler problem.  Neither program will now install.
I am running the latest version of Windows 8.  Can anybody help?

    Back with more information.
After rebooting I successfully installed Acrobat Reader XI and established that it could contact the printer.
I then tried to install the trial version of Acrobat Pro XI.  The procedure was slightly different this time, as this time it went via Adobe Creative Cloud, but the installation failed.

  • Adobe Acrobat CS3 doesn't scan anymore

    Hi,
for a view weeks I reinstalled Adobe CS3 (8.3.1) on my Mac (Mavericks) again. The install works perfectly. But Acrobat doesn't show me the scan source by choosing "New PDF-file via Scanner".
In a former installation it works fine.
I installed my printer/scanner HP OfficeJet 6500 E709n, uninstalled and reinstalled it. No effect.
With Mac OSX's Preview the scanning works.
Do I need a TWAIN plugin? If yes, where can I download it?
    Regards and thanks,
    CK

Yes, Acrobat 8 does not support Image Capture (ICA). Only way to scan using Acrobat is through TWAIN. Please contact HP to find out if they provide TWAIN driver for this scanner on Mavericks.
    Thanks
