Attempted reinstall, lost my presets

I installed Adobe Photoshop elements 3 over elements 2, did not like 3 because I could no longer see my .psd thumbnails in Windows Explorer.
Uninstalled Elements 3 using add/remove programs.
Still could not see .psd thumbnails in Explorer, so
tried uninstalling Elements 2, but could not reinstall it.
Finally resorted to Windows system restore.
Got Elements 2 back, and got the .psd thumbnails back, but lost some of the presets
(default custom shapes). I also seem to have lost a lot of filter effects, and I don't know what else has gone missing.
Since I can't reinstall Elements 2, is there another way for me to get the rest of the presets back?
Or how can I do a clean reinstall?
Also I did not deactivate Elements 3 before uninstalling it, does it need to be deactivated for future use?

After you've uninstalled PSE2 using Add/Remove Programs, run the MicroSoft FixIt tool:

Then reboot and see if PSE2 will install.

Right click on one of headings e.g. History, Collections, and ensure Presets is ticked.

Try removing prefs file, here's how.
Removing it is rarely the answer.

HT2375 Lost Mastering Presets In Logic 9

I have lost some of my presets, specifically the master preset 'Special Match EQ 1' and one of 'Telephone ........' and maybe others that I am not aware of.
I have deleted Logic Pro 9 from Applications and reinstalled from the App Store, but they are still missing.
I have the original discs for Logic Studio which I think has all the presets on it in the Jam Pack, but the discs will not run on Snow Leopard.
I have read that I can add files into Library/Application Support/Logic/Channel Strip Settings but where can I get the fies from as I can no longer get them from the origianl install discs.
I am hoping to get the whole lot from somewhere, not just specific ones as I am not sure what others may be missing.
Any help appreciated.

The installers *should* run under Snow L, but if you are having issues, you could try using Pacifist to open up the installer package, find the 'missing' items, and simply install those packages.

Lost print presets in Indesign CS5

All of a sudden I was going to print a pdf and the high quality, smallest file size, etc. options were gone. I have custom or defualt. Where did the settings go? How can I get them back?
I am using Windows 7 64bit. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Indesign and Acrobat pro. I have run a regcleaner. I am out of options that I know of. I found the option to load print preset files, but I don't know where the files are.

The presets you mention are EXPORT presets for PDF, not print presets. You can make PDF print presets and save them using those settings, buyt the recommended method of producing PDF from ID is to export.

You could make a copy of the Configuration folder for you as
a User then use
it to replace the fresh install one. BUT- why are you
reinstalling? If it's
from dw behaving flaky, the problem is probably in the
Configuration folder
for you as a user...
Would be better to make a list of installed extension (that
are used) then
get copies of the .mxp files to install them fresh

Adobe Air will not install / reinstall. Prior to attempt to reinstall, it would not update. The automatic "update now" button was greyed out, but the "update later" button was active.

Here is what my system administrator wrote:
1. Right-Click on the installer, clicked 'Show Package
Contents' and attempted to install from the MasOS folder. This
provided an interesting error in the terminal window, however still
did not install.
2. From there, I opened 'Console' (found in Applications
--> Utilities) and dug through the install error logs. Pinned
the issue down to AIR trying to update / use files that were
already in use.
3. Restarted the computer under the primary admin account
(the account used to setup the computer) and installed successfully
from there.

Yosemite reinstall lost my iPhoto pictures

Because of performance issues I performed a clean reinstall of Yosemite. However, iPhoto is empty.
Are these lost? Why haven't they been reinstalled from iCloud?
I have seen a reference to opening iPhoto using the Ctrl and Alt keys to rebuild the database. Am I OK to do that in this instance?

I thought the data was actually stored there.
It's not. There is nothing on iCloud unless you put it there. Currently, the photo library in the Cloud is in beta - as in, not officially ready for prime time - and only works with iOS devices. There is no capability in iPhoto to work with any cloud library. That's promised with the new Photos.app, due later this year.
Questions for Apple need to be addressed to Apple.

Lost Compressor Presets

I was playing in Compressor to make a Droplet. The preset I used no longer shows in Compressor.
Any ideas how to get it back?

Are you talking about one of the Apple presets that ship with it? If so, they're in the application bundle so you'd either have to reinstall, copy Compressor.app from another computer with the same version, or update if you don't already have the latest version.
To extract a setting from inside the droplet, ctrl-click it and select Show Package Contents. Navigate to Contents/Resources/Settings and there it will be.

Lost user preset data

I suggest you check your folder to see if the user folder is hidden.
Please follow the steps to enable this option:
1.Access the Control Panel.
2.Type "folder" into the search bar and select Show hidden files and folders.
3.Then, click on the View tab at the top of the window.
4.Under Advanced Settings, locate "Hidden files and folders." Select Show hidden files and folders just below that.
5.Click on OK.
6.Hidden files will now be shown when performing searches in Windows Explorer.

Continued problems while attempting reinstall

Some weeks ago after restarting my Mac Pro it would only boot to a blue screen with no login window. I have been able to start in safe mode and even work productively minus the the ability to use video, peripherals, audio, and my font collection. I have tried several suggested solutions to this problem with no avail... disc utility as well as some commands entered in single-user mode to reset all preferences and application settings. No luck. Here's some info

500 GB HD 59 GB available space.
(second HD and DVD-RW have been non functional for about a year.)
I need to perform a full reinstall but because my DVD drive is non functional I am attempting to run the startup disc from an external DVD drive (HP dvd1040e). The drive works in safe mode and I can open it to see its contents. When I attempt to start from the disc (holding d during startup), it crashes into a gray screen with a restart warning during the boot process. I was able to remove the drive and restart again into safe mode. I was also able to boot into Apple Hardware Test from the disc and run it with no problems found.
I have backed up all of my files onto another external drive so I am prepared to wipe the HD and do a completely clean reinstall. I have never actually done a reinstall on a Mac so I don't know what I can do to remedy this somehow. Is there another technique to starting from and external DVD drive? Is it worth downloading the OS X install files to a flash drive or external hard drive to try from there? Things seem to get worse at every turn, any help I could get with this would be so greatly appreciated!
My nearest Apple store is over 2 hours away, I could go if I absolutely needed to but I would like to avoid it at all costs.

Update: I have made progress in that I was able to boot to the OS X Leopard install disc. The internal and external hard drives show up on the Select a Destination screen. The external drive shows the following warning: 'You cannot install Mac OS X on this volume. To enable installation on this volume open Disk Utility and repartition the disk as 'GUID Partition Table'. Note: You will lose data on this disk by repartitioning it.' This is not an option as all of my documents are backed up on that drive.
I was actually able to perform an 'Erase and Install' on my internal HDD with the Leopard disk. However, when the install completed and restarted, it simply booted into the solid blue screen. Same problem I've had all along! I can still boot into safe mode, and it is a clean reinstall. Now OS X doesn't even see my Airport card anymore. I have physically removed the non functional internal optical drive and 2nd HDD so I know that they are not the issue.
Does this mean that the issue is in firmware or something? I've accomplished a clean reinstall and the same problem is still there! What could it possibly be?

Itunes reinstalled lost all my library, how do i get it all back?

After getting my computer fixed, I found that the techs reinstalled my itunes. This then showed that I didn't have anything left in my itunes library. I tried plugging in my ipod it only trasfered about 200 of my 2000 song library saying the rest couldn't be supported. It then asked to authorize this computer which I tried to do but that said i had authorized my max number of computers. I am fairly sure that within my family it only has been authorized 3 times. My question is, is there any way to get all my music transfer from my ipod back into my itunes library?

Lost all presets and watermarks after catalog backup

I started having multiple issues with Lightroom 4 last night after I cleaned up my folders in the Finder. I already knew I would have to locate the missing/offline folders in Lightroom and when I linked them back up, a few images went way over-exposed on their own (They had already been completely edited and exported luckily.) I wasn't able to fix them because all of the history on those images went away when it happened and even when I removed it from the Library, they all re-imported with the over-exposure even though that's wasn't what the originals looked like.
My second issue happened after I backed up my catalog last night. The save presets box was checked but when I opened today, all of my user and purchased presets were gone and my watermarks were gone. It is like Lightroom went back to defaults except my images are all there with their history (except for the ones that I went over in the 1st paragraph.) I can re-add all of my purchased presets and watermarks but I don't know how to get my user presets back. And what did I do to cause all of this so I don't do it again?

The Songs - were they Bought from itunes? If not transfer purchases doesn't do anything. The songs would have to be on the library you sync'd with. The back up oesn't include Media (except photos taken with the ipad/iphone) and apps.

Lost user presets after LR1.2 upgrade

Ihave my user presets stored with my gallery, but even though they're still in the old location, LR1.2 doesn't show them in the develop module.
Any ideas?

I'd forgotten about that one, Sean. Great for exporting a catalog, I guess, but I am not sure why it won't do both, i.e, store in presets always, and put with catalog when demanded.
