Attempting to access Firefox on my remote computer

I'm accessing my work computer remotely from home. I launch Firefox and I can see that it opens but then it disappears. I'm not sure where it is going. I can't seem to get it back. This is the first time that this happens meaning that in the past, I have been able to use Firefox without any issues when using my work computer from home. This does not occur with Chrome or IE and the first time it occurs with Firefox. I have two monitors at work and only one at home. I tried loading Firefox in Safe mode but the same thing occurs (i.e. it launches and then disappears). My second monitor at work seems to be turned off (verified by a colleague). Using Windows 7 at home and at work.

A remote desktop connection once an OpenVPN connection is established. Funny thing is that Firefox now displays correctly. After having tried opening and closing Firefox several times and launching in Safe mode, I clicked an internet link in an email and lo and behold, Firefox finally displayed. With all of my previous tabs and the new tabs that I had tried to launch it with. Not sure why it did not display correctly originally or the first 10 times that I tried launching it.

  • Can I access Firefox and Thunderbird from a remote computer while on vacation? if so how?

going on vacation for 4 to 5 weeks. need to access my Firefox and Thunderbird from a remote computer in Fla. can I do that and if so how?

    Hi linkrj61,
You could either use remote desktop to log on to your home computer or you could look at portableapps.com. This this will allow you to have versions of Firefox and Thunderbird the run from a USB stick so everything you do is tracked on the USB stick rather than the computer.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Access MS Access database on remote computer (shared folder)

    Hello,
    I need some help.
I've made a program and it works fine on my computer, but multiple users will be using program simultaneously, each one on his own computer conected over local network to mine computer (database is on my computer in shared folder).
When I try to access data on database (path is path of shared folder) i'm getting error 5013 (no database). The problem occurs only when I'm trying to read something from MS access database but not if I try to read data from .txt file, then it works fine...
    I'm using ADO Tools
Can someone help me, I would be very greatful?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks to you Dennis I've managed to figure it out.
I'll explain this for future generations
    1) I've created DSN. To do that open ODBC Data Source Administrator:
    - for 64 bit app C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe
    - for 32 bit app C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
In System DSN tab click Add.. then choose Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) (If you do not have this on list download that drivers from web) --> FINISH.
Enter Data Source Name (mine is Test2) --> Select... --> now because the MS Access database is on shared folder on remote PC go to Network... --> Browse... and select that shared folder --> Finish. Now you'll see all .mdb files on that folder and you choose your database --> OK --> OK --> OK
    2) Now in block diagram you connect string "DSN=your_dsn_name;" (mine was Test2) to ConnectionString connector of ADO Connection Open.vi
    It worked for me.

  • There is a problem with this connection's security certificate The remote computer cannot be authenticated due to problems with its security certificate. Security certificate problems might indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send

    Hi,
I have this Windows 2008 R2 on which I installed remoteapp some years ago.
Now the certificate expired and I get the message
"There is a problem with this connection's security certificate
The remote computer cannot be authenticated due to problems with its security certificate.
Security certificate problems might indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the remote computer."
How should I renew the certificate? I already went to certification store and tried to renew certificate with same key but then it says "the request contains nor certificate template information".
    Please advise.

Does the computer account have Enroll permission to the certificate template?
From the Server running your CA, run mmc, click File then Add/Remove Snap-in...
Add Certificate Templates and click OK.
Find the certificate template, then right click and select properties.  On my CA its call ed RemoteDesktopComputers but might be called something different depending on what what template your certificate is based on.
On the security tab, click Oblect types, check Computers then OK. Enter the Computername and click OK.  Then give your computer account Enroll permisssion.

I upgraded to the new version and something went funky. Tab weren't working. So thought I'd uninstall and reinstall and now I'm stuck in the cycle. I can't uninstall as it tells me that a previous version needs the computer to restart. I'll restart and then try again and get the same message. If I try to just reinstall, it get the same message. Right now, I can't access Firefox at all. Help!

    Hi @Skeetermarie85,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are unable to uninstall the software in order to re-install the software with your HP Officejet 8600. I am sorry for the frustration, but I am happy to help!
I am not sure which version of Windows you are using, but this should work with Windows XP and up. Please try a level-three uninstall by going through this fatal error guide, Fatal Error 'Error 1155. Not Found.' (MSI Error 1155) Displays During Software Installation in Windo.... Even though this guide does not match your error, I believe the level-three instructions will help.
If you still need further assistance, please reply with the version of Windows you are using. If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos.
    Hope this helps!

All you need to do is wait. While Firefox appears closed, it's not. It doing house cleaning. Cleaning out cookies and cache. How long it takes depends upon how much garbage you have collected.
If you start the Task Manager and open the Process window, you will be able to see when Firefox has finished up and closed down.
If you forced Firefox to close using the task manager, then the house keeping process seems to freeze up.
Also, as you've already found out from the above link, some programs and plugins will prevent Firefox from closing properly. I've found this less common then simply being in a hurry. But you need to also consider it.

  • Ever since I updated to Firefox 7.1, my computer won't go to the internet when I double-click the Mozillz Firefox icon, like it normally does; I have to restart my computer to be able to access the internet. Why?

Ever since I updated to Firefox 7.1, my computer won't go to the internet when I double-click the Mozilla Firefox icon, like it normally does; I have to restart my computer to be able to access the internet. Why?

There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.<br />
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.<br />
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.<br />

So make sure that you keep the cookies from those sites via an allow exception and that you do not clear the cookies or site preferences via "Clear Recent History".

  • Can I print my collages or access them as a pdf from a remote computer?

(I'm a teacher and I want maximise its usefulness.)

The best way to send to a remote computer to have it printed out, is open the collage then in the upper right click on the white square with the arrow icon. Select "Share via" as you will see, there is multiple options to choose depending on what you have installed on your device. It will send the file as a .jpg. I tested using via email, dropbox, bluetooth as all methods worked great. Then you can open .jpg file and print it as you wish. I did not see .pdf as an option, but if you have Adobe Acrobat you can open the file in Acrobat, then save as pdf file.
Hope this helps answer your question
    Thanks

  • I downloaded internet explorer 9, and now i can't access firefox.

I leave my computer on 24/7.
Everything was working fine until 4/15/11.
    4/15/11 Downloaded "Acrobat update...."
Downloaded "CA Internet Security Suite" Update
4/22/11 Next time on computer. I began having trouble with internet connection. Have to diagnose everytime, and do.... to correct problem.
    5/1/11 Downloaded "adobe Reader Update."
This changed my browser settings, . (had a kitty design)
5/1/11 to 5/5/11 Between these dates I was asked if I wanted Yahoo to be my home page. I said yes.
I also emptied "Ca internet Security Suite's 'CA Cache' "
I thought this was "history, cookies"????
5/5/11 I had left my computer on and Mozilla was open and I closed one of my tabs (Honda Recalls).
A msg appeared "Mozilla not responding. Close Program?"
I clicked yes, and then something about "crashed....create.....
    windows problem.....shut down improperly???....
    Then the computer rebooted itself.
I upgraded to Windows Internet 9.
I cannot access Firefox at all.
When I click on the taskbar symbol or the shortcut icon or the program in the start menu, I see the hour glass for a few seconds, and then nothing happens.
Along with this recommended update (Windows Internet 9), were two others concerning "Nvidia..."
    I did NOT download them.
In addition I get error msgs when I attempt to open existing programs or clicking on link in a web page to get further informationl/access.
    error msgs:
.... has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close program and notify you if a solution is available.
Can't find and the name of the program or website and lists a web address.
Internet Explorer closed web page to help protect your computer. A malfunctioning or malicious add-on caused Internet Explorer to close web page.
Somehow I got to CA Internet Security Suite's home page. I went to "My Internet"---Configure---How to configure---Browser blocked---view solutions---
I have tried to backup my computer, before doing anything else to it--delete programs I downloaded above????
I don't know what will happen if I delete them.
The first time it looked like it was progressing, and I left it running and went to sleep. Hours later I checked and I had an error msg "Backup failed-aborted"?????
    I don't understand this.
And now I get the error msg about windows having to close....?
5/13/11 I went to facebook to read two amber alerts, and clicking on their information an internet explorer msg about pop-up's, and I clicked on "allow once."
I moved around in the website, opened a tab to the home page, and another to another page in the website. Then I couldn't close them. I had to restart my computer.
I also clicked on "friends" and received the error msg "Internet Explorer shutting down."
My computer is running very slow. So slow I wonder if it is processing my request--to open a program etc.
I attempted to do a system restore point, however my computer was not automatically setting a system restore point for Drive (E:)
I have set it to do automatically NOW.
Yahoo does NOT have my bookmarks, not one of the MANY I have (had :( on Firefox)
I want Firefox back the way I had it, with my kitties design AND my bookmarks.
    Can anyone HELP me??
    Thank you

Did you install the Java Runtime Environment? Launch the Java Preferences.app in /Utilities and if you haven't installed JRE, you'll get prompted to do so. Once that's done, ensure that you've enabled applet plug-in and Web Start apps. Also, ensure that you've enabled Java in your browser.
