Attempting to apply Patch 5639232 to 10.2.0.2 client

When the client was installed, OPatch was not installed. Patch will not install without OPatch. Has anyone experienced this problem? How did you work around the missing OPatch?

Is it only OPatch is missing or even OUI?
Generally, OPatch comes with OUI, so if OUI is there, then OPatch will be there, if not both of them will be off. So, by just downloading OPatch from metalink will not help, as it needs OUI to be present, else it won't work.
Also, OPatch for 10.2 is available at 4898608 and not at 2617419 as it has OPatch 1.0.0.0.5x for 10.1 or older Oracle Homes.
If you don't have OUI, then I think you can get it from 4991034. The instruction on how to install it is given clearly in the readme.

  • Trying to apply patch 20 to Netweaver 04

I am attempting to apply patch 20 to my Netweaver 04 installation, when I do only the Java component seems to be working.
I downloaded the netweaver sp20 stack on to the server, unzipped all of the SAR files into an empty folder and ran the SAPINST. When completed the JAVA components are upgraded but not the Portal on KM components. I unpacked the SAR files for all of the components. How do I point SAPINST to the portal and KM components the default behavior seems to be to upgrade the J2EE engine.
    Thanks
    Troy

    Hi,
You need to patch the Portal Seperately once your Engine is patched. For that
you need to download the following SAR files from Service Marketplace.
    Required SAR files :
    EP6CTRL20_0-10003971.SAR
    EP6KMC20_0-10002972.SAR
    EP6PORTAL20_0-20000394.SAR
    EP6TOOLS20_0-20000394.SAR
    SAPINST20_0-10003971.SAR
    Uncar these SAR files
Hope you know how to uncar these files.
After Uncarring SAPINST-CD  folder will be generated.
Run the sapinst present within the SAPINST-CD folder.
This will Update your Portal Platform to SP20
    Any queries revert back.
    Do reward points if useful..
    Regards,
    Srujana.

Gah, I just figured this out. The path to my patch files contained a space! "beehive install" so i've removed the space, rerun opatch and it works. I'm amazed that modern operating systems are still struggling with "spaces"...

  • Java installation hangs when applying patches

    Hi all,
I recently removed my java application from my computer then tried to reinstall from the add on plug in in firefox. The program would hang at applying patches. After serveral cleanings of the failed attempt, and many hard reboots later (because the entire system would hang and not reboot from the start menu), i found that firefox 2.0.0.4 does not support the latest version.
I then tried the next version down.. same thing happened. So I tried to downlaod it for just IE7, that also yielded the same result. Bottom line... the program keeps hanging at applying patches, doesn't seem to do anything for at least 30 minutes, before I give up and have to hard reboot my computer.
I've tried searching the problem on google, but have found nothing that resembles my problem or fixes it, following removal and installation leads.
    Please help!
    XP PRO 32bit
    AMD 64 dual core
    IE7
    Firefox

I solved this problem by installing Cryptography Toolkit.
