Attempting to copy to the disk "My iPod" failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)
After restoring my iPod 160G because it had frozen on the Apple logo, it started displaying this message whenever I attempted to resync it to my computer. There are a bunch of different files causing the problem, different each time, and it doesn't seem to be coming in in any particular order.
I've moved computers and had my library wiped out but all my files in their scattered locations about my computer had synced up fine to my iPod before I restored it.
If I have to remove the offending files that's fine, but there must be an easier way then starting and restarting a 10,000+ song syncing and waiting for a bad file to pop up to go uncheck it.
Thank you very much!
Yes I've already seen this article. But because I have over 10,000 songs, it takes much to long to sync and re-sync my iPod, waiting for the bad file to pop up each time. This isn't being cause by any one song but by several. I'm trying to find a quicker way to identify the bad files.

Every iPad sync ends with - Attempting to copy to the disk Macintosh HD failed unknown error -4
I started getting failures of this nature quite some time ago, though before that the iPad synced fine. I'm trying to sync to a latest model iMac.
The iMac was set up from the backup of my old iMac which died. Not sure if that's the cause of this. I have tried the file verification process I read about on another post, but after running it to completion it made no difference to the error.
This issue has continued through each upgrade since it started happening. Both iMac and iPad are on the latest OS.Hello, I don't find a lot of cures for that, but might see the last post here...

Re: iTunes Error - attempting to copy to the disk "Macintosh HD" failed Nov 21, 2010 9:08 AM (in response to cosmocreek)
When itunes 9 was released, they also offered a different way to organise media.
Instead of putting music in "iTunes Music" it gave the option of putting things in "iTunes Media/Music".
see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3847
Try putting things in the itunes 9 organization. Do this by going to the file menu.
Select Library > Orginize Library. If you can select "upgrade to itunes media arganization". Then click OK and let it reorganize your library. If you cannot select this (becuase it is grayed out) then itunes thinks it is already using that method. In this case, try renaming your "iTunes Music" folder to "iTunes Media" - apparently in some cases itunes did not make this change, which might be what is confusing your ipod sync. Be prepared to rename this folder back to what it was in case it causes problems . . . -
Message: ""attempting to copy to the disk Marias Ipo failed.
I have 2 ipods, when attaching the 2nd ipod, the following message comes up after the nano tries to automatically transfer the songs from itunes:
"attempting to copy to the disk Marias Ipo failed. the disk could not be read from or written to."
could this be realted to the fact that i have two ipods working from the same compter?Did this get resolved in one of your other posts?
If not, my recomendation is
1) reset the iPod (hold down the menu and center button until the apple logo appears), then reconnect to the computer and iTunes
2) if #1 above doesn't work, I would restore the iPod's firmware using the iPod updater software that came with the nano. Launch the iPod updater and connect the nano to your computer. The updater should see your nano and give you to choices; update or restore, choose restore. After it is done, disconnect your nano, quit the updater, and reconnect the nano to your computer. iTunes should recognize the nano and attempt to sync with it. If you have the same problem, please reply and we'll see what we can come up with next!
good luck,

Hello,
I have a portable 500gb HD and I use it to put music and other stuff.
Earlier, out of the blue, all of my music from iTunes disappeared, and I tried to put it back by dragging my folder "music" from the external HD to iTunes, but the message "Attempting to copy to the disk Macintosh HD failed. The disk could not be read or written to." appears and nothing happens. Only 40 albums (the same ones every time) go into iTunes before the message appear.
I tried restarting the computer and nothing happened. This sounds more like a hardware issue, possibly a failing drive if you had mysteriously vanishing files and there are problems writing to your drive.. You could get better support on a forum for your Mac model or at lest one for your operating system version. Have you verified the disk with Disk Utility to see what it reports?

KatJust incase someone is watching this with the same issue - I have had to have a look at where my ipod stopped and then delete what would've been the next song in my itunes prog and go File, Sync and let it go again until it found another song it didn't like and do it again...

thanksI'mhaving a similar problem as well - when I try to import a CD to iTunes, it won't recognize the CD (It will not play any of the music from the CD, nor will it import it. I didn't have this problem with the previous iTunes, but the 11..0.2 version is giving me all kinds of problems ie., iTunes refusing to import it and iTunes giving me a message of not responding, requiring me to Force Quit in order to eject the disc. This new version of iTunes is a worthless POS in my opinion.

Hi. I moved my iTunes library into a shared folder so both my wife and I can have separate iTunes libraries using the same music files. Everything has been fine until tonight when she received the above referenced error when trying to sync after downloading the newest iPhone update.
We're running OS X Lion. My phone works perfectly but hers is not. I've tried the few fixes I could find. Ran disk utility and repaired permissions after making sure that the music folder (and enclosed folders) were granted to her and me.
Any suggestions? I've been trying everything I could find online to no avail.try the steps in this support article.

"attempting to copy to the disk failed" midstream
When trying to sync my ipod touch i get partway through, it looks like everything is going fine, then suddenly an error dialog box pops up that says "attempting to copy to the disk "my pod" failed. The device is not connected". Then it stops. some of my content gets onto the itouch, but not all. I have recently restored all my computer harddrive and settings, and I have the most up-to-date itunes and itouch software installed. I do not have this problem btw when syncing my older ipod classic. any ideas??
Hello denise e,
Welcome to the Discussions Boards.
After you "restored all my computer harddrive and settings" did you uninstall and reinstall a fresh copy of iTunes? If not you may need to uninstall all four components and reinstall iTunes:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Once uninstalled, I suggest saving the iTunes download to your Desktop and running it from there rather than running it from the web. You may also want to temporarily turn off or disable any Security/Spyware software before running the installer.
There are several additional things you can try that may resolve the issue.
Make sure the iPod Touch is connected directly to the computer rather than through a USB hub. You may also remove other USB devices other than your keyboard and mouse to eliminate any possible hardware conflicts.
Reset the iPod Touch by holding down both the Sleep/Wake button and Home buttons together until you see the Apple logo (ignore the "Slide to Power Off" prompt).
If the issue persists, you may need to restore the iPod using iTunes:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If all of the above do not resolve, you might try on a different computer or have the iPod diagnosed at a local Apple Retail Store or by contacting Apple Tech Support by calling the support number appropriate for your region.

Attempting to copy to the disk " ipod " failed. Cannot read or write BS
First please don't give me this link:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1207
Second my ipod worked fine until about a few hours ago, when i was adding new files now i get this error:
" Attempting to copy to the disk " ipod " failed. The disk could be read from or written to. "
I tried removing the files i just added but it didnt help. I tried restoring the ipod but it doesnt help. I know its not hardware problem. How do I find out what files are messing up my ipod.
It works fine with everyhting but music. Also it will start syncing then randomly give me this message, i got up to 500 songs (that play fine, but then it stops and gives me this bs. i hvae 3000 + more that wont sync. Can someone please help me before i smash this thing?Eh, there could be an issue with one of the audio files it is trying to sync over. Best bet is to do a fresh restore on the iPod and then follow the steps in the following article to see if it addresses your issue. (and yes, I know it's not the exact error you're receiving, but try it)
iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod -
I am receiving this message when attempting to synch. "Attempting to copy to the disk JODI'S IPOD failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." It appears that it synchs some of the songs but hangs up on certain songs. Once I determine the "corrupt" song, I deselect it in Itunes and try synching again. It will synch some more until it comes across another song it doesn't care for. I found 4 songs out of 130 that were problematic. This makes for a very painstaking process. Any help would be appreciated.
You're not the only one. I use a Mac, and I have come across this same problem. I wonder how it determines which ones it wants to sync and which ones it doesn't.
