Attempting to delete apps on Touch crashes iPod (2.01)

I was hoping this problem would vanish with 2.01.
-- Removing apps from Touch using iTunes works, but *holding the icon until they jiggle and then deleting directly on the Touch crashes the iPod.*
I've tried deleting just 1 app and several at a time with the same results. As soon as i try to switch to the Settings panel i get a crashes white screen. If I don't go to settings and just power off to save my changes the Touch hangs on startup and I have to hold the Sleep button to cold boot, after which all the deleted apps are back.
*Does this actually work for anyone else?*

1) Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete App
2) Touch the app and hold your finger down until all the apps start to jiggle. You will see a circled "x" in the upper left corner. Tap it to delete an app. When done press the Home button.
You cannot delete any pre-installed iOS app.
If there is No 'X' on any apps you have Downloaded... then check in Restrictions...

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

Close the Mail app in the Task Bar and re-launch.
Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar. Hold Mail app down for a second or two; tap the minus sign to close app.
If it still doesn't work, try a reset.
Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

Deleting apps on touch??????

Hi,
I downloaded a couple of apps onto my touch, but can't seem to work out how to delete them. The two I want to delete don't appear in my Itunes "library" on my PC, as otherwise I would have thought I could have deleted them from there.
Any help greatly appreciated.

How do i save apps for a crashed ipod

I tried to update my ipod touch to 5.1 from 4.1 earlier today. I thought it had worked after a few hours but i guess it had to start over. I tried to update again but it said backing up. it would back up for 10 minutes then go back to the screen where it said update or restore. i did this a few times and the last time it said there was an error. Now my ipod touch is stuck on a screen with a charger cord with an arrow pointing to an itunes logo. it cant get off this screen. I don't know if i backed up all my stuff. It said backing up a few times but it never fully updated or told me it had backed up all my data. I went to itunes on my computer and went to devices. on capacity, softwere version and serial number it says n/a. I can't update but i can still restore. i don't want to restore b/c i will lose my data and since i don't know if it is backed up, or tell if it is backed up, i can't get my apps and music back. i want to know if there is a way to save my apps and other data. I can't leave the screen with the charger and arrow and itunes logo. i can't sync with itunes either. all i can do is restore. i am fine with restoring if i can get my data back.
Is there a way to check if i backed stuff up?

Using 6.2.2. Created a simple spreadsheet. Selected a row I wanted to delete and tried to do so (Format>Delete Cells) but, after watching the pretty colors spin and spin, verified with Activity Monitor that Appleworks was not responding.

The earliest version stable in OS X is AppleWorks 6.2.4. The current version is 6.2.9. By all means avoid 6.2.7 which was very, very, very buggy. If you ever would have a need to open ClarisWorks 4 or earlier files, I suggest using 6.2.4. AppleWorks 6.2.9 cannot open all of those files & there is no workaround or way to predict which won't open. You can find the updater 6.2.4 here. You can find the most reliable link to the 6.2.9 updater on this page where you can choose the appropriate updater for your AppleWorks 6 installation. Be sure to pay attention to the two English version updaters.

Third generation touch crashes after using any app

Installed iOS4 using iTunes updater and everything went well. Go to use the touch and after I use an app, my touch crashes within three seconds. It is without fail. Use the browser, mail, YouTube, music, settings with no problems but the second I close the app, count to three, my touch crashes. I'm not stuck because I can't go back to 3.1.3. any help is appreciated.

- What does your app do ?

If you can measure the problem in terms of memory/FPS then you're only a few steps away from identifying the cause.
- Do you stop the app when user exits the app (UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend set in your app.xml) ?
If there is a major problem that causes the iPad to crash then it's crucial to identify and fix it before release. Even if it got through the review process you'd soon get plenty of negative feedback.

I've deleted a couple of apps from my iPod Touch, but after a sync they are still showing up in the iTunes apps tab with my iPod plugged in. They are both unchecked, so that they will not sync, but I can't seem to delete the app itself from my computer. In the previous version of iTunes, you could manually delete an app from iTunes and it would be gone, not just unchecked.

Try going into your iTunes/Mobile Application folder (wherever that is on Win XP) and deleting the .IPA for that particular app. Thats how I permanently delete my unwanted apps as simply deleting them in itunes or on the touch desnt get rid of them completely and iTunes always trys to put them back in there as it stayed stored in my application folder.

App Store keeps crashing on iPod touch 4g

I want to buy a game for my 32GB iPod touch 4g, but I am having a lot of problems with it. First off, the App Store ALWAYS crashes whenever I go to search for a game, so I have to keep restarting it. Second, the Home button is jammed, so I can't do a hard reset (I have to use Assistive Touch). Third, I'm assuming it might have to do with Assistive Touch as well, but I am having RAM problems. I can play some 3D games like Crazy Taxi or GTA Chinatown Wars, but according to an app I have called System Status, my RAM (256 MB) is averaging around 7-8 MB free, and when I try to free more space on the RAM, the app crashes. Sometimes I can get on the iTunes Store, but the App Store crashes 90% of the time while on the iPod. I don't want to sync my iPod to my computer because I'm worried I'll run out of storage due to all the music we have, and I don't feel like manually managing over 2,500 songs. Could I download the app to my MacBook Air from iTunes and then transfer it to my iPod WITHOUT syncing it (my MBA's library is empty, but I set it to not sync automatically)? I hope my questions make sense, and I really want to hear your replies, because I want to download this game very soon. If not, I'm putting it on my Android phone as a last resort (I still prefer iOS by far).

You can only sync with one computer. and y have to sync to get apps from computer to the iPod. You can sync using the manual method.

The built in Apps can't be deleted, but they can be moved to an unused screen. You could create a folder of all unused Apps and move it.

New Ipod Touch: Will not delete apps, there's no x when wiggling

This oddity didn't show up on a search of this site
Brand new iTouch. OS 3.12 on Touch, 9.0.2.25 for iTune on a PC
According to the manual, to delete an app, on the touch you touch/hold an icon until the wiggling starts, then tap an x in the icon's corner. Won't work. There's no x anywhere, either on the icon, or elsewhere on the screen.
I can wiggle, tap/drag an icon to where I want., but there's no way to delete it.
And it appears there's no way to delete apps from within iTunes on a PC or MAC.
is this a defective unit?
Sure would appreciate some help on this.

You can only delete third party applications. The original apps that came with your iPod cannot be deleted. Some of them can be hidden by using restrictions. See page 120 in the User Guide for details: http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPod_touch_3.1_UserGuide.pdf
