Attempting to install 11.1.0.6 Clusterware on RH5 64 Linux

Hello -
My ORACLE_BASE is set to /opt/oracle/11gR1
When I attempt an istall, it says it can't write to the above directory. Here are the permissions:

The documentation states the crs home should be owned by root. The installation is not letting me specify a location for inventory. It is automatically putting it in oracle's home directory. How is it also seeing /opt/oracle/crs as the home for crs. It is not set anywhere. I did have an incomplete install, and I went and attempted to remove all parts, but may not have gotten everything.

Hi Mike,
As per the Oracle Documentation, before installation the CRS home should be owned the user who is installing the CRS. Please find the paragraph from clusterware installation guide.
1.12 Requirements for Creating an Oracle Clusterware Home Directory
During installation, you are prompted to provide a path to a home directory to store Oracle Clusterware binaries. Ensure that the directory path you provide meets the following requirements:
It should be created in a path separate from existing Oracle homes.
It should not be located in a user home directory.
It should be created either as a subdirectory in a path where all files can be owned by root, or in a unique path.
Before installation, it should be owned by the installation owner of Oracle Clusterware (typically oracle for a single installation owner for all Oracle software, or crs for role-based Oracle installation owners)
For installations with Oracle Clusterware only, Oracle recommends that you create a path compliant with Oracle Optimal Flexible Architecture (OFA) guidelines, so that Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) can select that directory during installation. For OUI to recognize the path as an Oracle software path, it must be in the form u0[1-9]/app.
When OUI finds an OFA-compliant path, it creates the Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Central Inventory (oraInventory) directories for you.
Create an Oracle Clusterware path. For example:
# mkdir -p /u01/app
# chown -R crs:oinstall /u01
Alternatively, if you later intend to install Oracle Database software, then create an Oracle base path. OUI automatically creates an OFA-compliant path for Oracle Clusterware derived from the Oracle base path. The Optimal Flexible Architecture path for the Oracle Base is /u01/app/user, where user is the name of the user account that you want to own the Oracle Database software. For example:
# mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle
# chown -R oracle:oinstall /u01/app/oracle
# chmod -R 775 /u01/app/oracle

Attempting to install Creative Cloud Installer crashes my computer

I am attempting to install Adobe products from Creative Cloud using Creative Cloud installer. I am on a Macbook Pro version 10.6.8 Build 10K459 if that helps at all.
When I try to install, the authentication window asking for the admin password crashes and I can't type in the window. When I cancel the download, Finder crashes and the only course of action is to reboot the computer manually via the power button.
I can install other programs which go through the same administrator permission without issue, so I'm quite sure this is not my computer's problem. I have re-downloaded the installer several times to no difference.
One additional detail that may help is that I had trials of Photoshop and Flash Pro on the same computer in the past, which have been uninstalled.

Just another detail - I was advised to try creating a new user with administrator privilege on my computer, this didn't work either, just had the same problem.

1) I attempted to install 8.1.6 client first in c:\oracle\ora81, then Forms 6 in c:\oracle\forms6. The installer (3.3.1.2.4) errors, saying forms 6 does not support a multi-home installation.
2) Attmpted to install Forms 6 first in c:\orant. Then installed 8.1.6 client in c:\oracle\ora81. After beginning installation (application user) the following Dependency message displays and the installation is canceled: "Installation cannot continue for the follwoing reason(s). [Oracle ODBC Driver is a single Oracle home product. It is already installed in location c:\oracle\ora81. Oracle provider for OLE DB is a single oracle home product. It is already installed in location c:\oracle\ora81. Oracle objects for OLE is a .... Pracle Provider for OLE is a single home ... You can either de-install these products or install the products in the same location as the single home products."
Click ok and the installation cancels.
How do I install these two products on the same box?

We had to upgrade from 7.3.2 to 7.3.4 when we moved over to Forms
6.0.5.0.2 and it's working fine.
We are using Net 8 as well.

I have used the Adobe Cleaner Tool many times and uninstalled other Adobe Products but neither has worked. I have uninstalled/reinstalled this CD version of Dreamweaver several times when changing computers and after having computer issues. Absolutely not. You are misinterpreting things. The activation check never happens when just running the installer, only much later. It means what it says - there is another "install" pending/ active on your system, meaning somewhere there is an (invisible) process still blocking things. Either way, since you haven't provided any real technical info, we can't advise specifically. if you are on Windows, you may want to check your task manager and terminate any setup.exe and msiexec.exe processes plus potentially may need to manually fix/ delete some registry keys. For anything beyond that you will have to be much more specific.

I attempted to install an update to my iTunes and got a "C Runtime Error" message. Now when I attempt to open iTunes I get a pop up that says to reinstall iTunes. But I can't open iTunes to reinstall it. How can I reinstall iTunes?

I received notification of ANOTHER iTunes update being available, so I attempted to install the update on my Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista. During the update process, two pop-up announced that I had a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" Runtime Error, R6034 and another pop-up that states "iTunes" iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. However, I cannot open iTunes. I get the same pop-up telling me to reinstall iTunes.
I had many songs in my iTunes library that came from sources other than iTunes, mostly my own CDs. Plus, I have nearly $100 credit remaining in the iTunes store. I'm converned I will lose the songs and store credit if I reinstall iTunes. So my questions are:
1. How can I reinstall iTunes?
2. If I reinstall it, will I lose my store credit and non-iTunes songs?

Nothing should be lost... However... it is both Prudent and Recommended that a backup should have been created and maintained.

I do not know where or how to see it; a few minutes later I go to my Firefox Plug in Check page...and it shows that it still is not update! So I go through the whole friggan process again...WHY????

Please do the following:
Download the uninstaller, Uninstall Flash Player | Windows
Download the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page in the 'Still having problems' section
Run the uninstaller
Reboot your system
Run the installer
After installation completes, go to Flash Player Help and click on the 'Check Now' button. The results should indicate that you have the latest version, 17.0.0.134, installed.

Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.
If you need to open a local SWF file you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you will need to make the file association manually.

I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS4 on Windows 7?

I have a laptop that is running on Windows 7 and I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS4. It downloads the program file alright but when I click on the Set Up button it says "Cannot install Please click quit below" and then below it there are two bullet points that say:
-Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 - Adobe Photoshop CS4 not installed
-Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit) 11.0.1 - Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit) not installed
What exactly is going on? I tried running the set up in a different compatibility mode (e.g. Windows XP and Windows Vista) but no luck.
Am I even clicking the correct file in the folder? Or is my computer just not going to work with Adobe Photoshop CS4?

These are merely the updates. You need to instasll the base program first.

Getting error when attempting to install CS5.5 on Windows 7 64 bit

Hi, I'm receiving the errors below when attempting to install Adobe CS5.5, but only for Adobe Acrobat and some other components of the suite. I am now trying to install just Acrobat Pro through the Suite and it fails. The error log is below. Please let me know what the issue is.

HT5639 I am attempting to install windows 7 ultimate on a mid2012 production macbook pro using Bootcamp 5 in Mountain Lion. Whenever I set the partition size and tell it to continue, the program quits unexpectedly. I have done this about 5 times now. Sugg

The lead-in above pretty much states the problem. I am attempting to install Windows 7 from a disk, but that is not the issue. Boot Camp 5 just quits and reopens. I then repeat. Help.

I am about to run specialized GIS software that may or may not need the full machine resources. I am an attorney who uses QuickBooks for my accounting. The Mac version does not do as much as the Windows version. This is from both Apple and Quick Books professionals. I am using Parallels Desktop version 8 at this time. It does not support QuickBooks Windows version per Parallels. Any other questions? I am a highly competent PC user who is new to Macs. I am entitled to my own configuration choices. That said, I know when I need help which is now.
As to the free space issue I have 665.18 GB free space out of 749.3 GB on the drive. I am not trying to run the 32 bit version. I know that it requires the 64 bit version. Besides, it does not get that far in the process. As I said Boot Camp asssitant terminates unexpectedly as soon as you hit the continue button after setting the partition size. Therefore I conclude that it does not have a chance to see which version of Windows that I am using. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version in the virtual engine (to use Parallels speak), but again Boot Camp would not see that since it is not running. It can't run at the momenet because Apple just installed a new hard drive and I have just restored the data from TIme Machine and Parallels needs reactivated, which I have not done yet deliberatley. Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

As Niel says, no way to go past 10.5.8 on your Mac, but there is a more upto date Browser...
TenFourFox is the most up to date browser for our PPCs, they even have G4 & G5 optimized versions...

Bootcamp Issues when attempting to install Windows 7

Please excuse my ignorance.... new to Apple after using Windows for ever.
I am attempting to install Windows 7 on my new MacBook Pro 13" purchased 4 days ago. I follow the instructions from following tutorials on UTube however do not get the option to divide my OS into a mac portion and a windows portion.
I have got the original Windows 7 disc have also created an ISO version, and have formatted a USB to be MS-DOS Fat. Still no luck
On the tutorials, it states to open up Bootcamp, then divide the partitians for Windows / Mac, then load up your Windows 7 disc.
This does not happen on my bootcamp.
Im asked to create an ISO of Windows 7, which I have done
Then asked to download the latest Windows support software for Apple - which starts - but never ends
Then when attempting the third section, installing Windows 7 I get an error message stating please install the installation disc and wait a few seconds
I am using the Bootcamp that was included with my purchase of the MacBook Pro. Should I search for another one - although I appear to be up to date with applications.
I am doing this in order to use CorelDRAW via windows on my mac for my small business. Any help would be most appreciated, and please no smart comments as i am really struggling here and everything appears to be simple, but is not.
