Attempting to install Adobe Flash upgrade in Yosemite

Question

I downloaded the newest version of Adobe flash player.  I open it and the Adobe Flash Player Installer pops up. I double click on the installer.  Window pops up Install Adobe Flash Player.app is an application downloaded from the internet.  Are you sure you want to open it.  I click on Open.  In the meantime I notice that the Adobe icon in the start bar is jumping up and down.  I click on open.  Window pops up Install Adobe Flash Player wants to make changes.  I type in my password and click ok.  Icon quits jumping and does absolutely nothing.  I have to force quit to remove the icon. 
I am unable to run Garage Band, any of the games, including Chess.  What is the hang up.

Problem description:
I am unable to download newest version of Adobe Flash.  None of my games or Garage Band work now with OS X Yosemite.  Each install hangs up.
