Attending XI course TBIT 400-suggestion

Hi all,
I am planning to attend XI - TBIT 400 course in the coming weeks.
As a part of better utilization of my money, I would like to ask you guys for suggesting me a good instructor.
I am not sure if I can get information beforehand reg who my instructor would be?
Please suggest.
reg

Hi Naveen,
I would suggest that you call the education department and ask whether you can ask the instructor a couple of questions to make sure, wether it is TBIT40 or TBIT44 which you should attend. Usually the education department will make the contact. So you can talk to the instructor and get a feeling whether this particular instructor will be ok for you.
However, you cannot be sure for 100%, because there may be of course a last minute change of instructors. But those I know (mainly teaching in EMEA) are very good (myself included
As for the course, there are two different sequences of classes which cover almost the same material.
Classes BIT4xx are meant for customers, whereas TBIT4x are meant for consultants. So you definitely need prior experience with SAP and with systems integration in general if you want to follow the TBIT4x strings.
If you have had no prior XI experience, by all means do TBIT40 first!! You will have no chance following TBIT44 if you didn't. TBIT44 offers no theory at all, just loads of exercises and an hour or two of recapitulation of topics you should have already learned during TBIT40, TBIT41, TBIT42, and TBIT43. I definitely know this, because I teach TBIT44 about 10 times a year.
The BIT4xx courses are somewhat slower in pace and the material is lovingly created.
Cheers,
Michael

  • Negative reporting - Show employees who haven't attended a course

    Hi
I have two infocube, one containing all employees within the company and on containing courses (incl employee participant information).
Now I would like to create a query which shows employees which havent attended a specific cause. It should be possible to select the course in the variable screen and then get the list of employees which havent attended the course.
    How can I do that?
    Thanks and kind regards.
    Torben

    Hi Torben.
I think I made a mistake with constant selection on 0employee - it should be a constant selection for course-ID and a count of 0employee in both cubes, because, IF you have attended a course, you will be in BOTH cubes, so the count will be greater than 1. If you have not attended a course, you will only exist in the "all employees, no course info"-cube and the count will be exactly 1.
Also, I think you would have to utilize exception aggregation for the 0employees in your counter, to count them correctly for any selection of time, costcenter, etc. (In 7.0 you can use a calculated kf for this, in 3.5 you need to use an infoobject just for this)
In the query, make two restricted key figures, one counting the employees in each cube (restriciton on inforprovider). Use constant selection on emplty course-ID selection to count employees in the "all employees, no course info"-cube. Put a variable for course-ID in the other RKF, to let users select a specific course.
Then add the two RKFs in a calculated key figure and make a condition on the calculated key figure = 1 (set it to evaluate for employee only, I think). Hide the two restricted key figures.
    Put 0employee in the rows.
Now the query should return only the employees who did not attend a specific course. You can add variables for other common dimensions, fx time, costcenter, etc. If you want to drill on the course-ID, fx in the rows after employee to see who attended what, you need to switch off the condition.
Well, it should be possible to make it work that way and I hope the above will help to get you there.
    Good luck!
    Jacob

    - Oracle 10g SQL
    - Oracle 10g workshop I
    - Oracle 10g workshop II
    - Oracle Performance Tuning
In order to get the properly knowledge or continuing my education in Oracle, in what order can i take the next courses??
    A) Oracle 10g Enterprise Grig Control
    B) Oracle 10g Backup and recovery
    C) Oracle 10g RAC
    D) Oracle 10g Dataguard

A course can never substitute the knowledge and experience gained by getting your hands really dirty.
You can already get your hands dirty with RAC - using nothing but a PC and Vmware. Or DataGuard. Or create a database, grab the Backup manual and start playing with RMAN as you manually trash db files and create problems that needs to be dealt with by recovery. And while doing this type of thing, you will get to know Oracle a lot better and more intimately than in a lab environment.
Courses are good. But when I interview an applicant that have been on a PL/SQL course and have very little experience, versus one that has not been on a course, is self taught PL/SQL, and can actually provide meaning answers when asked about bulk processing for example.. I would tend to prefer the latter.
My suggestion is not to solely focus on courses and doing one after the other as quickly as possible... but use the knowledge provided by a course and turn that into experience.. It will last longer that way and improve your skills above those that attended the course with you and did not turned that into experience.

  • SCEA - Prerequisites for the traning courses itself ?

    Hi,
SCEA requires some traning course as Prerequisites, but what i found is that these courses also have some Prerequisites.
Just want to confirm that is it mandatory to have these Prerequisites course attended in-order to attend some course.
    For example,
Developing Architectures for Enterprise Java Applications (SL-425)
    * Describe, in outline form, all Java EE technologies, including Enterprise JavaBeans, servlets, JavaServer Pages, and JavaServer Faces.
    * Describe distributed computing and communication concepts
    * Perform analysis and design of object-oriented software systems
    * Use UML notation for modeling object-oriented systems
    * Developing Applications for the Java EE 5 Platform (FJ-310-EE5)
    * Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Using UML (OO-226)
It has two other training courses as Prerequisites i.e. Developing Applications for the Java EE 5 Platform (FJ-310-EE5) ,* Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Using UML (OO-226).
So is it also required to attend these courses for Developing Architectures for Enterprise Java Applications (SL-425) training.

When Oracle University specifies a prerequisite for a training class, it is merely a suggestion. Oracle University is happy to let you enroll in the class without having taken the prerequisite class though the class will assume knowledge of the prerequisite. For example, you ought to be familiar with object-oriented design using UML before you enroll because the instructor may assume that everyone is familiar with the subject.

  • Hand on Course Required

Well i want to ask a question regarding Hand on course requirement, i have some doubt please clear someone?
    1. If a person already working in real life in oracle database then this guy need any hand on course?
    2. I recently completed my ocp in oracle 9i dba but oracle not issue me my certificate then i enquire they told me you need to complete hand on course after that....
    3. I call my exam center where i completed my all exam the person told me boss you need to complete a module in oracle authorised center then i told him sir i am working in oracle 9i last 2 year so why i need a training after that he told me it is rule, i want ask all ocp or who are preparing for ocp exam it is necessary?
    4. After that this guy give me reference of an institute and clearly told me please mention my name to that center if you will go there for training, guys you also thinking the same yes this guy have a fix comission for providing a student for training, if not so why he call me more then 3 or 4 times?
    5. then i call the institute for training perpose and they told me at least 25000/ you need to pay for any one module i am socked?
    6. i prepare my all exam through my friend he is senior DBA in IBM and have more then 6 year experience so the institute faculty is better then the 6 year experience working friend?
    7. i think it is nothing oracle doing business and indirectly redusing there education value the reason if anyone your friend ask you about the oracle certification so what you suggest him dear this certification is only for rich person not for you because you can not afford that much amount for hand on course forget about if someone your friend help you to prepare for examination?
i think oracle realy need to think about it, if i am wrong please correct me?

    1. If a person already working in real life in oracle database then this guy need any hand on course?Well, HOC is NOT at all related to this that you are working or non=working. I know so so many who are working from many years and still come up and tell me that with hot backups, datafiles get freezed. The HOC was designed in 2002(if I am correct in memory) to make sure that the person who would be an OCP, he should know the right and correct thins and to maintain the quality in training, it was made must to attend a course. So it doesn't matter whether you are working or not. OCM is meant for mostly working dbas' and it does have a very strict requirement for 2 advanced courses attendance before you can even send money for the exam registration.
    >
    2. I recently completed my ocp in oracle 9i dba but oracle not issue me my certificate then i enquire they told me you need to complete hand on course after that....They are correct. Any one passing ocp examz after September 2002 needs to do that.
    3. I call my exam center where i completed my all exam the person told me boss you need to complete a module in oracle authorised center then i told him sir i am working in oracle 9i last 2 year so why i need a training after that he told me it is rule, i want ask all ocp or who are preparing for ocp exam it is necessary? It doesnt matter what you think, its already there since last 7 years and there was a small note that was published in 2002 on Oracle's website explaiining the reasons for it. You may want to read the note available now.
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99
Once again, it doesn't matter that you are working or not. Its a rule to make sure that all the ocp has at least some level of quality training before they become OCP and I have seen that helped a lot. There were so so so many dbas in 8i timings. With this requirement introduced, only serious candidates now think about OCP.

    4. Don't get caught up in all these things. Don't you get calls for life insurance or free add on cell numbers too many times? Sales guys have to do all this. They are paid to do all this. Ignore all this and try to get enrolled.
    5. then i call the institute for training perpose and they told me at least 25000/ you need to pay for any one module i am socked? So you mean 25k is HIGH? Well, did you have a look at the pricing of OU for the same courses? Check this out,
    http://education.oracle.co.uk/html/oracle/1080544US/SCHED_MP.htm
A coffee given at Starbucks is of a certain price and a coffee given at a local coffee shop is of a certain price. That's all! You need to pay the price where ever you go if you want to drink coffee. So be it Starbucks or some local shop!
    >
    6. i prepare my all exam through my friend he is senior DBA in IBM and have more then 6 year experience so the institute faculty is better then the 6 year experience working friend?I wont say anything about the company or about the friend. But I can tell you one experience where I had a guy in my class with 12 years of experience and he didn't know how buffer cache works? He argued with me for about an hour that LRU list and LRU mechanism are same and work areas is a term that I just made to "impress" them. It really doesn't any kind of rule that if you are working you are bound to know everything. Yes,hand on experience always helps but any one with any N years of experience doesn't mean that for sure shot, he/she knows it all. I have seen it happening time and time again unfortunately. You may work for just 2/3 years and know a lot more than 10 years old guy as it all would depend on where you work. Don't judge people from N number of years of experience alone.
    7. i think it is nothing oracle doing business and indirectly redusing there education value the reason if anyone your friend ask you about the oracle certification so what you suggest him dear this certification is only for rich person not for you because you can not afford that much amount for hand on course forget about if someone your friend help you to prepare for examination?
And why you think that your friend would be knowing it all? I can guarantee this there would be at least 10 things in teh dba books offered by OU that he must have not read. Its a too big statement but I guess, you should have got my point. To stop people getting certified by having trainig from a single computer having old software with some one who gives a training after his job , oracle made all this conditions. Its not about being rich and poor. Its about being getting real and good training which is often missed in these kind of "friendly " trainings.
i think oracle realy need to think about it, if i am wrong please correct me?You are completely wrong( I am not from Oracle) .

  • Oracle 9i Hands-On Course Requirement

    Hello all,
I have finished all 4 exams for Oracle 91 OCP DBA certification and I need to take the Oracle 9i Hands-On Course Requirement. From what I understand from oracle website you have to attend a class from a list of approved courses at oracle university or oracle authorized center or an oracle partner and then
    1) the institute where you attended the course sends information about your attendance to Oracle. And oracle in turn verifies attendance.
    2) How long does it take for Oracle to verify that I attended that course if not taken at OU and
    3) How long does it take for Oracle to send me the final OCP certificate?
    4) Oracle website also mentions that a candidate needs to submit a form online and take a test at the prometric website.
    5) Is there a cost effective way of taking this course?
I am trying to locate centers in US within New York City that offer the Oracle OCP Hands-On Course Requirement for Oracle 9i certification OCP DBA. I am specifically looking for an Oracle authorized center or partner in NY (as a cheaper option). I have been looking for hours on the oracle website and I am unable to find any specific information. I can only see oracle university locations or oracle partners who do not provide training
for individuals. At this point I am quite frustrated and I would really appreciate any help.
I want to quickly take the course and get my OCP certificate. Since I am planning to visit India, I thought of taking the course there as it would be lot cheaper ($200 Vs $750 for an online course in US). I talked to an institute in India and they tell me that I need to enroll for a course and then on completion they willvsend oracle all my details. There are no exams for the course. It will take a month for them to receive the certificate for the course and then I can apply for the OCP certificate to Oracle. (So are we talking about 2 months here for the certificate?)
However when I spoke to a customer care rep at oracle uni, they gave me a complete different picture. They tell me that I need to enroll in a class which might be a max of 5 days and then I can get my OCP certificate within a week. I also need to give an exam for the course
    that I take.
I am confused and I am unable to find any oracle authorized centers or partners in US in New York so I can call and confirm. If you have any information regarding this with the correct sequence, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Purvi.

    Hello Neil and 355099,
Both your links are helpful and i was able to find the centers. I had earlier looked at the courses and schedules and assumed that the same offered by and Oracle partner or authorized center might be less money. Anyways in case some one wants to take the course outside US here's the link - http://www.oracle.com/education/partners/partners.html#5
    Thanks again,
    Purvi.

Edited by: raoofdba on Apr 28, 2010 11:02 PMSome things you say here dont make sense.
In general often things to do with a workforce development program institute can seem to get into a difficult areas.
As far as I can tell the WDP programme cirriculum is published here: https://workforce.oracle.com/wdp_curr.html (accessed from UK).
(The last updated date of last updated February, 2007 and copyright of date 2002, i may have my doubts about, i can't recall finding this page previously, however having found it i welcome it. The instructional hours are up to 12 hours per week now ... used to be less ... i would think there is a risk of this is a web updated in late 2009/2010 with some detail inaccuracies ).
Now I see no mention of a +"WDP Oracle Database 10g : Performance Tuning"+ course on that page.
The nature of the voucher I cannot myself authoratively confirm. WDP Institiutes get one official voucher per student attending a course: see: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=156
    If it is a voucher as described on that link (Which is certifcation home page ... Getting started ... Exam Vouchers) then it is usable for any exam in the price bracket (The page may have a bug .. {thread:id=1065162} }
Being a cynic, and I may be completely wrong on this, I suspect some institutes end up with a surplus of such vouchers through candidates abandoning courses and can trade them down Peckham market in ways not intended.
To sumarise I think there is a good chance the WDP Institute is offering you the 'Oracle Database 10g: Administration Workshop II' course not a "WDP Oracle Database 10g : Performance Tuning" course unless in institute is both a OAEC and a WDP Institute.
There is a possibility they may be offering you vouchers outside of the general scheme.
Any issues/disputes with vouchers/course delivering/course eligibility for certification hands on purposes is between you and the institute.

  • Certification course TEP10

    Hi,
Has anyone taken the TEP10 certification course.
I am a Basis Admin planning for this.
My only concern about this course is that it looks like a lot of the topics covered in the course and eventually in the certification exam are not technical.
If any Basis guy has attended this course, can you please let me know if this is true. Is there a lot of non-technical, developer-related stuff in it.
I dont understand the development side very well, so would like to choose a crtification that is all technical.
    thanks
    Cyrus

    Hi,
TEP 10 is Enterprise Portal Certification, in my point of view, it is not so interesting, as compared to other more interesting components in Netweaver, i.e MDM, BI
It can be techinical...you know, i.e Portal System Administration, Configuration, how the colloboration being done...Visual Composer, Web Services, Web Dynpro....Client Framwork, etc.  Exam should be quite technical.
    cheers,

  • LSO - Course follow up

    Hi,
In LSO_PV15 there are two fields namely 1) Participation confirmed (field = CONFIRMED) and 2) Course Passed (field= PASSED). I suppose the field 'Participation confirmed' refers to learners attended the course and the 'course passed' refers to the course test results (=Passed, failed or Not rated). In our organisation, for delivery method 'Classroom training' we do have test results so course pass/fail is not applicable. In the follow up screen the 'Rate participation' step is mandatory whithout which the course cannot be followed up. If I select the course pass as 'Not Rated' the follow up screen rasies an error message 'Unevaluated participant cannot be followed up'. Any ideas as to how to work around this?
    The IMG documention says
    Follow up participation (various options):
    a) Follow up participation (no proficiency changes allowed) You can always follow up the participation, regardless of the participation rating (such as Passed, Not Passed).
    Thanks,
    Terence

  • Course submission form question

    Hi,
In the future i'm planning to be an Oracle Database 11g DBA OCP, and i have read about exams to pass, requirements and so on. After i pass 1Z0-151 exam, i've read i should complete one of the approved advanced courses (at STEP 2 - COMPLETE TRAINING). So:
OCP candidates must complete one of the instructor-led in-class, online , or recorded courses below (includes Live Web Classes – LWC,Live Virtual classes – LVC and Training On-Demand course) to obtain this certification. Self-Study CDs are excellent study and reference tools but DO NOT meet the course requirement for certification.
And after this, and passing 1Z0-053 exam, the candidade should complete a course submission Form.
But why the candidate should pay a so expensive course if he wants to become a DBA OCP? If I have, for example, study materials, books, and any other resources, and if i learn INDEPENDENTLY (and maybe based on a previous experience), WHY i have to pay/participate to a instructor-led in class or online course?
    Here http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99 there is written:
The Course Submission Form is a tool for certification candidates to submit their required training details for verification. This form is required in order to obtain most Oracle Certified Professional and Oracle Certified Master certifications as well as some Expert Program certifications.
But why verify candidates, if the candidate followed a personal training, and based on the experience?I don't understand this requirement, and my opinion is that this is for Oracle only a money maker source.
    Thanks.
    Edited by: Roger22 on 01.04.2012 21:06

I agree with some people's comments who said this is most of time completely useless (to pay ~2k euro for a 5 day course, so VERY expensive!), so this course submission form is a stupid thing.
Personally if i was that Oracle person who introduced this, i should not have requested any attendance for any courses at all. People who are working on these technologies for years and having experience, they don't need to attend any course to become OCP or even OCM, they should pass the exams without any courses.
But this is my opinion only:)
    Thanks

  • 10g course completion of sql, admin1 and admin2, want to sit for ocp 11g

    Hi all:
I have completed my courses for sql, admin 1 and admin 2 for oracle 10g.
I want to sit for the ocp 11g exam.
What should be the optimum/best/fastest way to sit for ocp 11g.
    Please help......

Your post indicates that you have attended 10G courses, but not whether you have passed any certification tests. It is also not clear from your post whether the courses you took were from vendors that are accepted by Oracle for the hands-on requirement for an OCP. 10G courses, from an approved vendor or not, do not count directly towards the 11G OCP certification. In my reply I'm going to make two assumptions:
1 -- You have not taken any certification tests yet. This may not be true, but I would think that you'd have mentioned them rather than just the training if you had.
2 -- The training you took is from an approved vendor.
If the above two assumptions are true, then the "fastest way to sit for ocp 11g" is:
Take (and pass) the following exams to become an Oracle 10G OCP:
    1Z0-051 -- Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
    1Z0-042 -- Oracle Database 10g: Administration I
    1Z0-043 -- Oracle Database 10g: Administration II
Then complete the Oracle Education course submission form for the appropriate course(s) that meet the hands on requirement.
Once you pass all three tests and the course is approved, you will have the Oracle 10G DBA Certification.
Then take (and pass) the following exam to become an Oracle 11G OCP:
1Z0-050 -- Oracle Database 11g: New Features for Administrators
Alternately, you can take an 11G course that meets the hands-on requirement and take the 11G specific tests. Since this is likely to cost more than taking one additional test and will mean that in the end you will only be 11G certified rather than 10G and 11G, I think the outline above is likely preferable.

  • Can I use SL-425 attended previous to Oracle acquisition for 1Z0-864?

    Hello!
I attended to a SL-425 training course in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2008.
Could I use that to fulfill the requirements for the OCM (1Z0-864) certification exam?
How will I be able to prove to Oracle that I attended this course when it was still known as Sun's training center?
    BR

    Hello!
Good to see other people from Brazil in here.
You can see a list of all the aproved courses here: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=245
Apparently, SL-425 is one of the aproved courses.
Here you can find information about how to submit the Course Submission Form: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99#4
Since it is the same course, with the same name before and after Oracle's aquisition of Sun, I don't think there will be any problem, but it is always good to wait for Brandye's confirmation on that.
