Attention All Metric Halo and ChannelStrip Users - What's happening?

Hi Everybody ...
About 2 months ago I posted that ChannelStrip for GarageBand was an amazing addition to the capabilities of GarageBand ...
I had tried the demo and was very impressed ....
Well ... just last week I went online and bought ChannelStrip for GarageBand...
but since then something very weird with Metric Halo is going on ..
I paid my $89 for ChannelStrip ... and I haven't heard a word from them since.
No email confirmation .... nothing ...
I sent 2 emails to them asking where my purchase was over their web support page ... no response ...
Try calling their support line ...http://www.mhlabs.com/metric_halo/support/.. all you get is a bunch of extensions and weird operator voice mail ... I left various voice mails ... and again ... no response ...
I'm starting to think that this company has gone under ... but they are still receiving money over the internet for nonexistent services ...
Has anyone heard anything about Metric Halo ????

I just got an email a couple of days ago and last week received email support within a day. I also use ChannelStrip.
I also called the same support number and got through on the first ring two weeks ago.
The phone line message is normal, as long as I've been a customer.
But I would say your experience of support isn't normal. They have always been known for their quality support.
In fact when I was looking for my ULN-2, they went out of their way to get one to me quickly.

There are a lot users there who may have a better number or better info. I'm sorry but I've misplaced the direct number I had.
I've dealt with Jason Desmond and Jon Stern at MH support. And like I said, they have always been great to deal with and seem to go out of their way to assist. Not to mention how great their products are.
Perhaps the holidays this week and last have had an impact....

Got it all hooked up now clarity & depth of this unit is simply amazing, i've been using M Audio Firewire 410 for last 2 years (God Forbid), when i hooked 2882 the level of sound coming out was really loud which i found out was to do with my 410 running at -10db and 2882 console was set to +4db which i also found out is the Professional standard.
I can't keep my console settings on +4db as i have Mackie 1604 mixer and can't turn it up LOL if my master channel is a quarter of the way up my speakers (Genelecs 8040's) are are on the brink of blowing up.
So my question is, is it ok for me to keep all the mio console ins and outs at -10db will i lose gain from the noise floor dont really understand the reason behind the +4 & -10 maybe someone could explain?
To me it sounds how it was before level wise maybe it also has something to do with my new balanced cables as with the 410 it was unbalanced so i had to use unbalanced cables.
Is there a loss of benefit from running at -10db i dont know, would be nice if someone could enlighten me. Thanks for replys so far dont know what i'd do without advice from this forum.

The way I moved from 10.3.9 to 10.5.8 was to use "ditto -rsrc" and copy the user homes and the data share to an external firewire drive. Then did the same in reverse.
I found the key to data and share permissions to make sure that the users had the same UID in Leopard that they had in Panther.
You can then use "sudo rm -rf" to remove any folder from the relocated homes that you want. Remember if you do choose to remove "~/Library" from each users relocated home, you will be removing any iCal calendars, login.keychains, browser bookmarks, custom screensavers and wallpapers, etc.
Users don't really care if they can login and do any work. But there will be much wailing, gnashing of the teeth, and anxiety, if they lose their bookmarks and wallpaper.

It will give you more than what is required. If you dont want the extra information,then you can try this.. I took the query and removed the bits that you might not require.

Help!! As I was scrolling through my library, one folder after another had the photos in it turn to "static"! Lots of streaks and dots! What is happening and how do I save my photos?

As I was scrolling through my Aperture library just now, I saw one folder after another turn the photos in that folder into garbage! They have lines and dots and nothing recognizable - what in the world is causing this? Can I get my photos back? It almost looks like a virus eating my files - could it be - and if it is - is my entire computer in trouble? HELP HELP HELP!

Interesting that you posted this Cleaning up photo library about one hour before this post. I'd say there is a good possibility they are related.
Without knowing your system, OS version and Aperture version and what you were doing to 'clean up' your library there is little we can do.
My photo library is a mess. I have moved things around a lot in a futile attempt to organize them, now I have a lot of placeholders with no files attached. How do I clean things up?
I suggest you restore from your backup and forgo the cleaning operation until you have a better grasp of the situation.
BTW the Masters folder is organized by date and time of import at least in Aperture 3, if you are using 2 then all bets are off,

SetRollbackOnly and EJBException..what should happen?

I am wondering what peoples opinions are about what should happen when commiting a transaction in the following scenario.
I have a transaction started by a stateless session bean method. This method just finds an entity bean and sets one of its attributes. When this stateless session bean method finishes, the transaction is commited by the container. While commiting the transaction, the container calls the ejbStore method of the entity bean. The ejbStore method calls a method on a different stateless session ejb. This stateless session ejb method calls setRollbackOnly and throws an ApplicationException. The entity ejbStore method catches the ApplicationException and throws it nested within an EJBException.
The ejb2.0 spec says that the container should throw a javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException if it can't commit a transaction. This is what I receive, but my question is what would you expect the nested transaction to be?
I would expect the EJBException that I threw from ejbStore to be the nested exception.
ie. I would expect this....
javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Error committing transaction:; nested exception is: javax.ejb.EJBException: nested exception is: au.com.sparq.test.ApplicationException: ApplicationException a b c...
But as soon as setRollbackOnly is called, I will only ever receive this exception....
javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Error committing transaction:; nested exception is: weblogic.transaction.internal.AppSetRollbackOnlyException
Why is an AppSetRollbackOnlyException being thrown by the container when I have told the container to rollback the transaction by throwing the EJBException from the ejbStore method of the entity ejb? In this case, the container shouldn't care that setRollbackOnly had been called. It should only be if the ejbStore method doesn't throw an EJBException that the AppSetRollbackOnlyException is thrown.
The side effect of this behaviour is that I can never get access to the ApplicationException thrown within the ejbStore method, so I can never tell what caused it to fail.

Time machine starts making new back up every time, and previous back up disappears. Mac Book Pro and all newest equipment and OS. What should I do?

System seems to have done it since beginning (actually first time the day that I moved to Mountain Lion) but it is now every other day. This defeats the purpose of having a back up. I did see more comments on this but no silutions. No red i displayed in time machine. Has Apple fooled me with this time capsule or is it just broken and they should replace it?

DVI-HDMI-SDI Conversions and Color Space-what is happening?

Can someone explain signal processing when connecting computer monitors and LCD TVs via different connections and conversions?
- DVI to HDMI
- SDI (BM) to DVI
- SDI (BM) to DVI to HDMI
- SDI to DVI to HDMI
Are there differences in how each conversion processes color space? I am looking to keep it consistent when monitoring out of PPro and AE...latest CC versions...both PC and Mac workstations.
We never create media for typical broadcast or other conventional distribution. All media is custom animation for Special Events...large venue projection. But we do run multiple monitors and LCD for content creation and programming...many times running video thru a DVI Matrix or SDI Matrix for signal distribution. So I want to understand how each configuration effects video.
Does PPro always work in RGB? 0-255...AE as well? Or are there settings that must be set for this?

HDMI - RGB, YCBCR, or YUV
SDI - YCBCR
Premiere - No color management ie colorspace control. I believe it just uses the media and current display output color space. You would have to ask someone at Adobe there.
AE - Color management ie colorspace control. You can set what space your coming from and going to.
Do you have any colorimeters to calibrate your display devices? If not I suggest you look at X-Rite since it is cross platform OSX and Windows.

Suddenly, any new music or podcast I download - from any source - will be choppy, and corrupted. What's happened?

No matter which site I use as the source, anything I download will be choppy and corrupted. Music and podcasts both end up unlistenable. This has only started happening in the last few days, with nothing I can think of that has changed in that time to cause this. Steam cannot update itself, or install the new Skyrim patch - it keeps flickering between "x% complete" and "Starting download". Some pictures also look garbled or entirely absent.
I've already tweaked and then uninstalled Quicktime; I've reset Firefox; and I've kicked the desk a few times. All useless. What is going on?

Do you have this issue with another browser? Have you checked out our help articles? This could also be an issue with your internet connectivity (contact your ISP for that reason)

Greyed out songlist on ipod. I've installed latest software. When synching, msg says unable to transfer songs due to timeout. Now many songs on songlist are greyed out and unaccessible. What's happened?

Memory on 64GB ipod touch indicates about 0.88 remaining. But not all songs on playlist being synched are being transferred over and many (3,000 +) are now greyed out (full details shown but not accessible).
Any ideas?
Have already restored Ipod to original settings twice
Have already amended playlist to choose smaller total memory requirement
Still keeps showing msg 'timeout' failure

it can be difficult to find the Knowledge Base documents if you're not familiar with the site. it took me a few weeks before i was comfortable with it.
if i'm looking for KB docs, i usually click on "advanced search" (just below the tab with the apple on it up at the top of the webpage), and select either "ipod for windows" or "itunes for windows".
usually once i find an article that i use a lot, i make a note of the link, or "favorite" it in my web browser.
(this particular article is a bit difficult to find, even if you do a search. the various different symptoms are so varied, that folks aren't likely to realise it's relevant to their problem even if they see the title of it appear in their search results.)

My ipad screen is shimmering and pixelated. I've tried restarting and restoring from backup. Everything still seems to work, but the screen looks shimmery and pixelated. How do I fix this?

I have an old iPad 3 that has taken a beating, and the screen occasionally shifts colors (blue, green, or red). It would look about like this:

This is going to sound dumb, but this always fixes it for me:
Lay the ipad flat on your lap, open your hand, and with fingers spread, gently but firmly smack the screen of the iPad. I sometimes have to do it 3-5 times (mostly because I'm afraid to hit it too hard!), but it consistently resolves the problem for me.
