ATTENTION! All Photoshop Professionals.
Hello World I' am issuing a challenge to any one who would like to become one of my top Photoshop editing friends, and hopefully even real friends as well
I’ am simply searching for people who would (FREE Of Charge) like to volunteer there services by helping me with the more advanced Photoshop skills that I simply just do not posses…
My Photoshop challenge at this time would be to magically cut me precisely out of a JPEG image, leaving only a smooth edge around my whole body, with a transparent background.
The person OR persons who do the most professional job will become my new Photoshop friends with chances of becoming my real friend, and or freinds as well
I’ve attached the image within this message.
Good luck everyone, I hope to see your talent

Chris,
I'm on my laptop tonight, but will do as you request come tomorrow AM, when I start up the workstation with the Wacom tablet. I do not want to fight my laptop's funky-a__ mouse for a Layer Mask. Give me until about 9:00AM MDT and I will post my results, plus give you a step-by-step set of instructions.
If you wish to go at this yourself in the meantime, do the following:
1.) Open your image in PS, and Dbl-click on the Background Layer in the Layers Palette. Accept the default to convert it to a regular Layer with whatever name you want, say "Chris_Image."
2.) Use the Lasso (or Magnetic Lasso) to do a rough outline Selection of the image.
3.) Press ShiftCtrlI to invert this Selection
4.) Choose Selection>Save Selection and choose Layer Mask for Chris_Image Layer.
5.) In the Channels Palette, chose the Layer Mask Chris_Image Very Important
6.) Hit B for Brush Tool and choose a Brush that is semi-hard, not hard, but not fully soft either
7.) Use the and keys to adjust the size of the Brush and use the X-key to switch between black and white to paint-in, or paint-out on the Layer Mask. Use the Magnifier to get in close and work slowly.
8.) Last touch might be to add a touch of Gaussian Blur (Filter) to the Layer Mask, but this is like salt in soup - to taste.
If I had the Wacom hooked up down on the patio, I'd probably have been done, by the time that I typed this. Unfortunately, I have three other things going, so will wait until tomorrow AM and just use the workstation with its Wacom.
Good luck, and do try this yourself. You can then compare my results to yours.

    ATTENTION! HELP! All Photoshop Professionals.
In regards to my last message of seeking Photoshop Professionals… I have then since been mocked due to I only wanted to have someone help me with a problem and also become my friend. My intentions were to have someone help me and then for me to not just leave and say bye, but to rather stay and perhaps also make a new friend.
I feel that it is this lost world that is to blind to see someone’s true attentions, but instead look past truth and in fact not care about others. I on the other hand wanted to make some new friends in the process of asking for help. So I’ am here once again seeking help from those who hear my cry and would like to try to help me in a Photoshop helping situation.

all photoshop cs4 tools are not responding. how do I get them to work, again?

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, font validation, etc.)?

  • Adobe Explains it All: Photoshop (article)

We've just had a heads up about this article, the first in a series that will cover Adobe's key products.  I guess it is no surprise that they kicked off with Photoshop
    Adobe Explains It All: Photoshop
One thing that came into perspective after reading the article, was answering the question in the last paragraph, which boiled down to what did we do before Photoshop?  Well for me — and it's a safe bet I won't be the only one here — I was doing OK before Photoshop, and didn't even start using it until version 4!  When I did start using Photoshop, in many respects it was not as good as what I had been using for a good few years before.
I started computing with a BBC Micro, and I was kind of proud that mine had the serial number 000050, but it was not until I switched to an Amiga 1000 and Deluxe Paint that I could really start seriously getting into graphics.  It could do 3D animated text in (what we thought at the time) 256 wonderful colours (you have to smile at that now), and with the addition of a cheap Genlock, you could superimpose your Amiga graphics onto video.
Deluxe Paint V was definitely ahead of its time.  So who else remembers it?

    Yes:
    Adobe Frowns on Photoshop Verb
    http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressmaterials/pdfs/photoshop_guidelines_pr.pdf
Google had the same issue Official Google Blog: Do you "Google?"
My understanding is that they have to be seen to publicly protect their brand by publishing guidelines on correct use of trademarked terms.
If they allow "photoshop" as a verb to slip into common vernacular (even though that horse bolted long ago) without protest (published guidelines on correct usage) then they risk losing the trademark if a challenge arises.
    Or something like that.

  • ATTENTION ALL 27" iMAC OWNERS: PLEASE READ THIS THREAD

Hello. Firstly, apologies for the attention-grabbing title, but ultimately I need as many people to test this out as I possibly can.
Here's a basic run down of my problem: if I leave a window open on my display for about 10 mins, and then minimise it, and bring up a dark grey background such as iPhoto, Spotify, or a set desktop flat colour of dark grey, I can still see the text and display pictures semi-burnt into my screen, temporarily. They do fade after a while, but it is still annoying that it does this (I am a graphic designer, so I could potentially be working with dark images, and I don't fancy seeing my facebook messages over the top of my work).
I had this issue with the iMac which I purchased last Thursday, and I returned it to Stormfront (my local Apple Authorised Reseller) and they acknowledged the issue and gave me a completely new iMac. However, yet again, this computer has the exact same issue, which makes me think it may be an issue with quite a few of the 27" iMac's.
Therefore, I would like to ask if you, as the owner of a 27" iMac have a few spare minutes so that you can help me find out if this is a rare issue and I've just been unlucky, or if it's a wider issue with several iMac's.
Please follow the step by step guide I have created below: the burn-in effect image is not a screenshot, however I have recreated the effect on Photoshop so you know what to look for. Thank you in advance for reading this, and helping me out; please let me know what results you get from this test.
I am especially interested in users of the current Thunderbolt 27" iMac, with the high-end spec (3.1 GHz Intel Quad Core i5/4GB RAM/1TB HDD/Radeon HD 6970M HD). Please, if you own a different model also carry out these tests - your screen may have the same issue.
Step 1: Change your desktop background to a dark grey colour. Go to System Preferences > Desktop and Screensaver > Desktop > Apple/Solid Colours > Cutom Colour... > Using the greyscale slider under the second colour picker tab, enter a value of around 15%. Set this as your desktop.
Step 2: Open a white-backgrounded application. Position it somewhere on your screen (preferably the left as this is where I experience it at it's worst), and leave the application there for around 10 minutes.
Step 3: Once 10 minutes is up, minimise the window, and study the area where the window was. If you have this issue, you will still be able to make out the elements from the open window (in my case, my Twitter followees display pictures and tweets). Here is a mocked up version of how it appears, created in Photoshop. As the issue is hardware related (I think), it doesn't appear in screenshots. You can view this image at full size here: http://cl.ly/AZYD.
Step 4: Please let me know the result, and the specs of your computer. I am contemplating phoning Apple to make them aware of this issue, but wanted to see if it's just me before deciding it's a hardware issue.
For me, I think I'll wait until the next Lion update is released, in case it offers a graphics driver update. Otherwise, I guess this one will be going back too.
Thanks guys, and I await your responses.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 not displaying all PhotoShop CS4 galleries correctly

I maintain and support a camera club website for the Peoria Camera Club in Peoria, Illinois.
I recently added 6 new galleries to the website.
    These are the current galleries: Nature 1,Nature 2,Nature 3,Nature 4,Open 1,Open 2,Open 3,Open 4,Open 5,PJ 1,Creative 1,Creative 2,
    Urban Landscape.
    These galleries are located at
    http://www.peoriacameraclub.com/competitions/Gallerys/gallery.html
    Here's the story:
Running a browser test on my local location everything works perfectly and all of the images are accessible and work smoothly.
After uploading to my server, a number of galleries are not working correctly.
    I have followed this scenario.......
All of the galleries seem to be functioning correctly except for Nature 4, Open 3, Open 4, and Creative 2.
I recreated Creative 2 from scratch and re-uploaded with no effect
First, all of these galleries worked in the testing mode using internet explorer on my laptop.
All of the images appeared and ran perfectly.
Unfortunately, the four previously mentioned galleries displayed a smaller number of images although the count on the page is correct.
I’ve re-uploaded the galleries using Dreamweaver including the gallery html page.
That accomplished nothing; things were the same.
I used Filezilla to re-upload the 4 galleries plus the gallery html page.
Filezilla runs a lot faster that Dreamweaver.
    Again, nothing changed.
I have no explanation why the majority of the galleries are working and a few are incomplete.
These galleries were created in PhotoShop CS4 Bridge.
I have searched the web and the forums at Adobe and NAPP and other bread crumbs from the net.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Jim

It seems to fail at the point where there are missing images. For example, Nature 4 fails to display thumbnails in image 11, which according to its group.xml is the same as the following 404 Not Found images.
    /competitions/Gallerys/Nature%204/resources/images/thumb/GREAT%20BLUE%20HERON%20&%20CHICK%20by%20Rich%20Seeman.jpg
    HTTP/1.x 404 Object Not Found
    /competitions/Gallerys/Nature%204/resources/images/medium/GREAT%20BLUE%20HERON%20&%20CHICK%20by%20Rich%20Seeman.jpg
    HTTP/1.x 404 Object Not Found
And likewise for Open 3. It falls apart on the third image according to its groups.xml file and that corresponds exactly with these missing images.
    /competitions/Gallerys/Open%203/resources/images/thumb/03%20Birdhouse%20&%20Flowers%20by%20Veronica%20Anderton.jpg HTTP/1.x 404 Object Not Found
    HTTP/1.x 404 Object Not Found
    /competitions/Gallerys/Open%203/resources/images/medium/03%20Birdhouse%20&%20Flowers%20by%20Veronica%20Anderton.jpg HTTP/1.x 404 Object Not Found
    HTTP/1.x 404 Object Not Found
I didn't check the other two galleries, but it is probably similar. I am guessing that you somehow forgot to upload those images or they got uploaded to the wrong folders.
If you have FireFox, I recommend getting the LiveHTTP Headers and/or FireBug add-ons to help find these 404 Not Found headers.
BTW, I realize you already have a ton of files online, but you should be aware that it is not considered safe to use spaces in filenames or directory names. http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1738.txt

  • Calling script from custom panel not working on all Photoshop installs

I'm using Configurator to create a custom panel. The panel uses the html widget for the gui and which basically is made up of six links that points to different scripts located in Presets/Scripts.
The links look like this <a href="adobe://photoshop.cs5/Scripts/Foo bar">Foo bar</a> and works fine most of the time.
However, on some systems the links won't work. I can call the scripts fine via File/Scripts but they won't run via the panel. I've tried to debug with ExtendScript Toolkit but it looks like they don't run at all. In other words it's like the links are broken. My first guess was to remove spaces in the name of the script files but that didn't work.
    Any idea what's going on?
The entire source is available on http://lumens.se/tychpanel.

Is it possible that some other software interferes with the flash panels of Photoshop? Like if the users runs some sort of antivirus/protection software? I think it's farfetched but I'm running out of ideas.
Adobe, do you know about this issue? One of my users is willing to do remote debugging so if interested you could look at this bug directly.

  • Sharing all photoshop folders etc between 2 computers

At present I have Photoshop Elements 6 on my desktop, which has Windows XP.
I have bought a laptop with Windows 7 and wish to share all my folders(tagged etc)
in order to be able to edit them when away from home. Is this possible and easy to do.
Hope someone can help me. Thanks

There's no easy way to do this in Elements 6.
In Elements 8, there's a new feature called Multi-Machine Sync. It will let you backup and synchronize your photos with Photoshop.com. If you connect two or more machines to the same photoshop.com account, they will all be kept in sync.
Connecting PSE8 to a Photoshop.com account is a membership service. If you have less than 2GB of photos it's free. If you have between 2 and 20GB it's an annual $49. There are plans that go above 20GB as well.
The service is only available int he US though.
You can create a membership account from the PSE Welcome Screen by creating an AdobeID.
    Cheers

  • ITunes doesn't show all Photoshop Albums for syncing with Apple TV

I created a new Album in Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0. When I attempted to sync my new album with my Apple TV, not all of the Photoshop Albums are listed. If I sync my newly created album to my iPod Touch, the entire list is available by scrolling. (Scrolling is NOT available in the Apple TV Photo Tab).

I am having the same problem. It has been ongoing for a long time. I have over 136 items in my feed, yet only 101 ever show in iTunes.
Is there a limit to the number of podcasts that can show in iTunes?

  • Virus corrupted all photoshop files

So I had a laptop that I did all my production work on.  I use photoshop very often, since I do graphics, marketing, and web design.  Apparently, some kind of virus or malware has corrupted all my photoshop files.  When I went to go turn on the laptop, the .psd files wouldn't open because the file description was "Adobe Photoshop Image 13".  So I read up on a few other people that have had the same issue.  I re-installed photoshop and now even though the description says "PSD File" I get the error "Could not complete your request because not a valid photoshop document".  I already went to restore default file settings but every photoshop file that was saved on my laptop in the last several months is now unusable.  Please, someone tell me there is a way to recover.  Otherwise I've just lost about half a years worth of work that I neglected to backup.

I have some patent artwork that I created with Photoshop and I'm worried that maybe someone from a cloud storage company may have accessed my work.  The patents have been filed, but if they thieved my work, and beat me to the punch I'm wondering if I have any recourse.  That's why I asked the "date created" question.  The second question was just asking an opinion of what people feel more secure using.  My guess is the digital Image is probably the best bet.  I could try enclosing the password protected PDF inside a digital image, that would be really secure since they would need 2 passwords to access the material.

  • Photomerge: Is this REALLY all Photoshop can do?

I tried to use photomerge in Photoshop, and the results were ridiculous.  I have a friend who has an iPhone, and I have an Android.  He uses a simple panaroma tool on the iPhone, and I downloaded a photomerge app for the Android.  The results were incredible.
I took a bunch of snapshots to see how Photoshop could handle it, and this is the laughable result: http://oi49.tinypic.com/de0get.jpg  (notice all the banding).
First photoshop removes thumbnails, then no one can properly use the new oil painting filter, and then simple FREE apps for mobile phones outperform Photoshop.
Come on Adobe -- get it sorted.

Please take a series of 6 or 7 HD photos (3264x2448 for example) and let me know how it turns out.  As mentioned, the free mobile apps can create a panorama in seconds and it's seamless.
I'm not interested in 72dpi 800x600 goofy images.
    Noel:  Do the same.
"HD photos (3264x2448 for example)"?  My images are 6144 x 4096 pixels at 16 bits/channel, Adam. I don't work with little stuff.
The wider panorama I showed above was from nine such images.  Here's the result just after Photomerge completed, done with Cylindrical and Auto settings.  Note the pixel dimensions listed for the stitching result.
Here are another couple of examples, including one that contains a lot of water, which is traditionally difficult for stitching software.
Something's specifically wrong on your end if you're not getting good blending.  Photoshop is clearly capable.  Either you have a resource shortage or you're not using the right settings, or maybe your vignetting is so egregious it can't compensate (which you can fix by using appropriate settings in Camera Raw).
As far as I can see it's not important whether you have too much overlap.
Do you have literally hundreds of GB free on your scratch drive?  Photomerge has been known to use that much.  It used 91GB doing the above.

  • Lost ALL Photoshop actions

I was working in Photoshop when my computer shut down on its own.  When I started it back up, all of my actions were gone, including the actions that were originally with Photoshop.  Is there any way to restore these??

You can always reinstall. Otherwise try and check your user folder and load actions via the flyout menu in the actions palette - if they're still there somehow.

  • Will the Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200 run all Photoshop effects?

I am lost and cant find a final answer to the following.
I am about to buy a MacBook Pro and cant decide between the one with dedicated GPU and the one without. I want to go for the one without - the increased battery performance and lack of overheating are favourable.
BUT... I cant get a deffinate answer to whether the Intel® Iris™ Pro Graphics 5200 on the 4th gen i7 processors (ie the one without the dedicated GPU) will run all these Photoshop effects:
Adaptive Wide Angle Filter (compatible video card required)
Liquify (accelerated with compatible video card with 512 MB of VRAM)
Oil Paint (compatible video card required)
Warp and Puppet Warp (accelerated with compatible video card)
Field Blur, Iris Blur, and Tilt/Shift (accelerated with compatible video card supporting OpenCL)
Lighting Effects Gallery (compatible video card required with 512 MB of VRAM)
New 3D enhancements (3D features in Photoshop require a compatible video card with 512 MB of VRAM):
    Draggable Shadows
    Ground plane reflections
    Roughness
    On-canvas user interface controls
    Ground plane
Light widgets on edge of canvas
    IBL (image-based light) controller
I don't need them to run massively fast, I just need to know if they will work without a dedicated GPU. I appreciate the Intel® Iris™ Pro Graphics 5200 supports open gl/cl but I cant find an idiots proof answer if that means all these features will work.
    HELP!
    Cheers

We’re not aware of any issues using that specific card with Photoshop and all features should be supported.
