Take it to an Apple Store ASAP. It's unlikely it can be saved, but you can exchange it for a refurbished replacement:
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.

Ok. Digging a little deeper on this issue...
When it goes to standby, the wifi turns off to conserve power. Once out of standby, it reconnects to wifi and then push begins. - iPod Touch Forum Post

If this is true, there is an app that must be using the push feature on the iPad. Causing it to lock up routers.

A very good theory I think. I've noticed that behavior for a long time at work with my MBP and an older Linksys 8-porty router. I don't use it much there, but have been aware that it can kill the WiFi at times if it looks for Mail before connecting. Ethernet does not seem to be affected but still have to re-set the router.
When awakening, I can see full bars, then it goes off, then full bars again. Negotiates further then connects.

  • My 5th gen ipod touch dropped face down (with case) and now it will not turn on and is not recognized by my PC.  Can anyone help me? I had alot of videos and pictures on it and don't want to loose them.

Last week my 5th generation ipod touch dropped face down onto the ground.  When picked up the screen was black and did not turn back on.  I tried to connect it to the laptop but it did not recognize the ipod.  Also when it is plugged into the laptop the area by the camera gets warm like it is charging.  But still has a black screen.  I've tried to reset and count to 10, but nothing happends.  Is there anything that can be done to fix this?  Or is it completely dead?  Somebody, anybody please help.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    See what happens
Ain't gonna work.  Sea water contains salt.  Salt is naturally hygroscopic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hygroscopy) and even the most minute amount will absorb water vapor from the air.
Removing every tiny bit of salt would require flushing the device with copious amounts of distilled water, and even then there are no guarantees...  Unfortunately the iPod is dead...

My ipod touch encountered some water and wont turn on. Is there anything we can do to get it working? It says error 3104 when trying to restore. thank you

    Maybe here:
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • My daughter dropped her ipod touch 4g into water. We bought a new one 3 days ago which she has dropped. The screen has smashed! Can we use the good screen from the water damaged ipod to replace the broken one

Can anyone help please? My daughter dropped her ipon touch 4g into water which resulted in it being ruined. We bought her a new one three days ago and she has just dropped it and cracked the screen!!!
Cany anybody tell me, are we able to use the perfect screen from the water damaged ipod to replace the broken one on the new ipod or, would the water damage have ruined the screen too?
    Thanks in advance

Your very best option would be to take it to an apple store and exchange it for an alike model which can be a refurbished, or new unit. The repair/exchange price is about 99USD.  http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&viewlocale=en_US&geo=United_St ates&product=ipod&select=REPAIR_PRICING

  • How to stop ipod touch dropping out from reading email, then displaying main menu

My wife's Ipod touch (4 or 5 years old) has worked fine for years, but now when reading emails, without touching the screen or any controls, the ipod drops out of the application and displays the main menu after a few seconds. Have rebooted it a couple of times, but the fault persists.
Ipod is a 16Gb with 10.4 Gb available
Does anyone know how I can solve this problem ?

Many thanks for your quick reply. The full reset has cured the problem.
    Thanks again

  • IPod touch dropped in the water, now sound doesn't play anymore, except ringtones

    Hi,
An acquaintance of mine fell in the water, with his iPod touch still in his pocket. After getting out of the water, his iPod touch seemed to work fine, except the speaker; no music or other sounds play, except ringtones and notification sounds. Does this fall under the warranty, and what should he do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
    - Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Urgent! Please Answer iPod Touch Question!

How often does Apple come out with new iPods (on average) Is it about 2 years? Do you think they will drop the iPod? Do you think they will incorporate the new technologies they have discoved with the iPhone 5C and 5S eventually into iPod touch? Please answer ASAP! I know that no one but Apple knows what the next iPod will be like, but does anyone have any ideas of how long I will have to wait to but an iPod 6? Should I just get the 5 now? Help! • Ipod touch felt in water, what can i do?

Yesterday my ipod touch4g was falling in water and i dry my ipod touch with a towel.A little while i was done with dry my ipod touch was off snd i thought i have to load it so then i load it for 4 hours then i saw that my ipod was on the load symbole and that is not loading and i dont know what to do please help me PLEASE! thank you for supporting and reading!:)

You can try drying it out internally by wrapping the unit in a paper towel and putting it in a bag of dry, uncooked rice (or a bag of silica gel pellets, if you have access to those) for a few days (and yes, I mean days). It's very probable that it's been permanently damaged, but it's possible that if you dry it out, it may then work. If after a few days in the bag it still has problems, then you'll need to pay to get it exchanged (by Apple) or repaired (by a third-party repair service) or buy a new iPod.
    Good luck.

  • How could i fix my ipod mini drop into water?

please help how could i fix my ipod mini dropped into the water.

There is no "true" fix for liquid damage.  It has been suggested by many to put your device into dry rice for about 3-4 days without trying to do anything on it....do not even power it on.  Once a device has liquid damage, it is just a matter of time before it has a failure.

  • IPod touch 5th gen, water damage...?

    Hey,
I dropped my iPod touch 5th generation into water last night and it was completely submerged.   I took the device out of the water quickly and immediately switched it off and removed all of the water I could (from the outside, the charging port, earphone port and microphone, etc...).   I quickly put it into rice, about 7pm-ish, in a sealed container in the hopes that it would dry out.  Also, the device did seem to work and respond normally when I was turning it off (all the buttons worked and touch screen was still responsive, which are good signs, I hope).
My question is, however:  When is it safe to try and take the iPod out of the rice and power it back up?  I was thinking of leaving it until tonight to turn it back on, but I was advised to keep it in the rice for longer to make sure it really is dry.  How long should I wait?
Thanks in advance, I really don't want to damage the device any further than I already have.

I think I should also add that I just checked the water sensor (inside the earphone/headphone jack) and it was white.  It didn't appear to be pink or whatever other colour it apparently changes to, upon contact with water.

  • Itunes won't read ipod touch

why won't itunes read my ipod touch

Okay, this may be an issue with your iPod. It is very rare, but the iPhone may have corrupted due to a software glitch or perhaps being dropped etc. In a last-ditch attempt to get it working. You could try reformatting your iPod Touch by going into settings > general > reset and clicking " erase all content and settings". I would do this only if you have backed up your iPod and iTunes before. Once you've done this, re-sync with iTunes, and set up the iPod Touch as a backup of your old iPod-that way all your old content (music, photos and apps) will be reloaded onto your iPod Touch.
You can also check this out, and see if this helps solve your problem:

  • IPod Touch with minor water damage

    Hi all,
I was at the beach on a typical windy day in England, I was walking on the pier when a wave crashes over on to the pier and get my jeans wet. My iPod Touch was in my pocket and it wasn't even submerged. So I got back (I'm in a hotel so bag of rice trick) and half the touch screen was unreasonsive. I left it near by a warm place for 2 hours and I tried again, the second half worked tempremental. So I went to asleep thinking maybe the water would have gone over noght. It hadn't, it's even worse. The lockbutton works only maybe 20% of the time  and also it does things on it's on accord like poer to switch off, locks by itself etc. Its a second gen, I'm going to be back home this afternoon, so is it too late to do the water in the bag trick or should I just pay £130 for a 4th gen.
    Thanks

I would opt for the replacement. Seawater causes corrosion of like switch contacts and the dock connector and causes other damage that drying will not fix.
