ATTN: GPO Users

I'm getting ready (I hope) to upgrade my Garritan Personal Orchestra software to version 2.2.1. If there are any other GPO/Logic users reading this, and you have upgraded, have you noticed any performance glitches, plugin/sample loading errors (besides the usual), etc to watch for?
PowerMac G5 DP 2.0 Mac OS X (10.4.9) Final Cut Studio, Adobe CS3, Logic Pro 7, Sony HDRHC3, Chapman Stick

The only issue I had was learning the new Kontakt interface, but as I bought the full version of Kontakt with the tutorial DVD too all the difficulties have been cleared up.
I have no specific new problems.
The Ambience reverb doesn't work on Intel machines, but Kontakt 2 player has some alternative revrbs and effects that are included in the fill version of Kontakt.

  • GPO User settings not changing IE 8 settings windows 7

    Good Afternoon,
We have several IE 8 settings that need to be adjusted for a particular application. We have them configured in a IE GPO. I have enabled and linked this IE GPO to the top child domain level, xxx.xxxroot.com. I ran a gpupdate on the enduser's pc. I have verified
that the GPO does get applied by gpresult in the User Configuration. When I check the IE settings, none of them have been adjusted.
How do I get IE settings applied via a GPO?
    Thank You

    Hi,
In addition to the point mentioned by Gbillig, please also pay attention to the GPO Priority, Local GPO, site, domain and OU, local GPO is processed first, see this link

  • Printers deployed via GPO - users' default printers switch back...

Windows 2008 R2 Server (remote office server acting as a DC, GC and print server); clients run Windows 7 Enterprise x64 (users have roaming profiles with folder redirection)
I deployed 5 network printers using Group Policy (per machine): Printer1, Printer2...Printer5
Printer1 was the very first printer queue created on the server and deployed to users via Group Policy.
Users login for the first time and get all five network printers, and Printer1 becomes their default printer automatically (which is fine for their first login). However, when users change their default printer, in this case Printer1, to some other printer
    - eventually their default printer goes back to Printer1. Is there a way to make sure the new default printer stays and it doesn't go back to Printer1?

Okay, this doesn't seem to be working for me.
So, I'm still deploying 5 network printers to all users - the office has 5 printers and all
users need to have access to all 5 printers.
The first network printer queue I created on the server (e.g. Printer1) is assigned as the default printer queue for all users - that's fine for the users' first login attempt. Eventually the users at this location select their own default printer queue,
let's say Printer3. At the end of the day, users log out of the network, when they log back in their computers, the next day, the default printer queue is set back to Printer1 instead of Printer3 - which is what the user needs to have.
Originially, I wasn't using GPP to deploy these printers. I was using Printer Management Console and
Deploy with Group Policy... and I assigned this to an AD Site Group Policy.
Based on Brano's suggestion, I just fail to see how those settings will allow the policy to remember the user's new default printer queues (e.g. Printer3).

  • ATTN: All Users w/ USB Port Issues

    Hello,
    I have an A135-2386, BIOS v1.6, 2GB RAM
After reading some of the messages in this forum (and on the web) I'm convinced that the USB issue is directly related to BIOS upgrades.
I had the BIOS password issue happen to me last week and I fixed the issue myself by jumping the pin jopen1 (short with paper clip). Anyway, I updated the BIOS to v1.4 (to prevent the password issue from recurring) and the USB issues started surfacing.
At first I could toggle the legacy usb option in BIOS and the ports would start functioning.  But after the pc went to sleep or was restarted the problem came back. Now the toggle workaround no longer helps.
Even though my warranty has expired I did get sympathetic help from Toshiba.
After contacting Toshiba support they suggested I update the BIOS to v1.6 (the latest).
The latest BIOS v1.6 does not solve the USB issue.
Please call Toshiba Support 1-800-457-7777 (24/7) and log this issue.
Refer to my call number; 1-1147317549
If we can get demonstrate that this is a BIOS issue then hopefully we can get a resolution at no cost.
I see someone got a new motherboard in another thread, I'm curious as to what BIOS it has.
    Regards,
    Kenneth Barrentine

"BIOS upgrades, as identified by Toshiba and other manuf's, is at owner risk."
I've never heard that one before.  It's been my experience that most manufacturers want you to stay current.
In case I omitted some details here are the reasons again.
The first BIOS upgrade, v1.1 to v1.4, was so that I would not ever have to deal with resetting a BIOS admin password.
The second BIOS upgrade, v1.4 to v1.6, was recommended by Toshiba Technical Support in an effort to correct the malfunctioning USB ports.  Since there was no documentation addressing this issue in v1.6 it did seem pointless to upgrade to this version.  I just followed the Toshiba Technical Support recommendation in an effort to correct the USB issue.
    I'm leaning toward a PCMCIA<>USB card.
There is a bulletin from Toshiba recommending the BIOS upgrade.  There is no mention of risk.

  • Folder redirection configured in GPO does not create Documents folder and does not redirect

    Hi
Another Folder Redirect-post - sorry for that, but I could not find an answer for my problem so far: even with consulting many threads here...
We have an existing environment under Windows XP and want to move away from that. Now I ran into troubles with folder redirection...
The following folder- and permission structure exists so far:
\\<server>\<Users$-share>: This is the base folder for all users-directories
-> Permissions: SYSTEM: Full / Administrators: Full / Users: Read&Execute, only this folder
-> Share-permissions: Authenticated users: Full control
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>: base folder for the specific user
-> Permissions: SYSTEM: Full / Administrators: Full / User: Change, all permissions inherited onwards
-> Giving only change permission prevent further problems with self-called "advanced users"... ;-)
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\profil.V2: Profile directory of the user
-> Of course here the permissions are set by the system: override the predefined permission
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten: Atcual Home directory of the user
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten\Documents: Suposed Documents directory of the user
Now I am going to Server 2012 and Windows 8.1, configured the GPO to redirect Documents folder into the above mentioned:
GPO - User configuration - Policies - Windows settings - Folder Redirection - Documents:
Setting: Standart - redirects all folders to the same path
Destination folder: Copy to base directory of the user
I apply policy to the user, log out and in - it doesn't work, no folder Documents created in my home-folder, Folder Documents still configured at C:\Users\<user>\Documents
    A very special point:
I also do Redirection of the My Pictures-folder: Define it to follow the Documents folder. Funnily that one works and creates and configures \\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten\Pictures
-> So in my eyes, it should work!
Then: I want to do the folder redirection without Offline Files, due to the fact, that our users work with dynamically assigned virtual desktops, which are been cleaned everytime a user logs off a machine. Therefore synchronizing doesn't make sense...
I just cannot see, why this redirection does not work :-(
Thank you very much for any help!
    Kind regards
    David

    Hi David,
Before going further, would you please let me confirm the OS version of the Windows Server which you used to
configure folder redirection? Based on your description, did you mean that those users (who will be applied folder redirection settings) logged on Windows XP client computer?
When you configure the folder redirection setting in Document Properties (path:
User Configuration-> Policies-> Windows Settings-> Folder Redirection-> Documents), please check if you checked “Also apply redirection policy to Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 operating system” in Settings
    tab. As below picture shows.
    à
GPO - User configuration - Policies - Windows settings - Folder Redirection - Documents:
    à•Setting: Standart
    - redirects all folders to the same path
    à•Destination
folder: Copy to base directory of the user
Would you please provide a screenshot of those settings you describe? Meanwhile, please summarily describe
that how you configure. For example, where this GPO link to? Or any other. It will help me to understand clearly. Thanks for your understanding.
    In addition, please use
gpresult command to check if the folder redirection group policy was really applied.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • Enable ActiveX for one particular site through GPO

    Hi,
I need to provide seamless experience for accessing
    WebSite that requires ActiveX.
Did some search.... and created GPO. But it
    not works.
    1. Allowed ActiveX for the required site on test
    computer.
    2. In Add-Ons of Browser found the name of needed
    Add-on.
    3. In C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files found files with the
    Add-on name:
dll and inf. In inf file
    found:
    [CryptoHelperATL.dll]
    file-win32-x86=thiscab
    clsid={8BD32365-35F1-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXX}
    FileVersion=5,0,0,0
    RegisterServer=yes
    ; end of INF file
    4.
    created GPO:
    USER: Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet
    Explorer/Security Features\Add-On Manager
    In Add-on List Setting entered
clsid for the Value Name (8BD32365-35F1-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXX} and 1 for the
    Value.
    5. Policy was applied to newly logged in User, but when accessed
the site the prompt for Allowing ActiveX popped up.
    What I am missing?
    Thanks.

    > answer yes.... then the browser will allow the site to use the x86 version.
    1. you mean YES (allow) in popup? But it pop ups without GPO
if not what yours YES is applies to?
    > map the domain to the trusted sites zone where Enhanced protected mode is turned off by default.
this is interesting option. I checked this thread (from 2010-to 2014)
People discussing all pros and cons... At the end there is kind of solution for all. Should check...
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/0baa6428-bf48-4e8a-82e1-b961918090d9/how-to-add-trusted-sites-to-group-policy
If you can clarify your approach, would be great.
Also, IE10 is 64bit. May be that is why my GPO is not working?

  • AD "Root Path" GPO property as home

    Hello,
I have an AD integration question. On our Windows
network the "Root Path" GPO user property is being
used. Can this path be utilized by 10.4.7 as home
    dir.?
This GPO seems to have no effect with the "Use UNC
path..." Directory Access setting checked and "Force
local home..." unchecked. What does work however is
hardcoding the "Connect Z: To:" AD property.
    Any suggestions much appreciated,
    Thank you
      Mac OS X (10.4.7)

The issue you are likely running into is the fact that OS X does not support DFS shares. You need a third party product (http://www.thursby.com/products/admitmac.html) to pull that off. The closest you can try is to identify which server in the DFS cluster contains the home folder and attempt a direct map to that server. Permissions and inheritance will likely not function, but since this is a home folder you may not care.
Also, I remember the guys from ExtremeZ came up with a fake DFS solution but I can not recall the details.
    Hope this helps

  • Screen saver GPO in AD 2008 R2

What's the GPresult or RSOP on one of your machines?
Lets try and track down why it's not working

I want to apply the same screen saver through on my network, but the personalisation option is not active on any desktop PC. I've created a GPO (User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Personalization) and even created timeout of 60 seconds through GPO.Till now I can't get them to work on user pcs. What could I be missing out? Seems my GPOs don't work.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you saying you want the bold part of your path (currently hard-coded) to be in a variable instead? That would look something like this:

  • Setting display language Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services

I'm trying to setup local display language when user logs on to my Remote Desktop Services server.
I have configured the following GPO:
    User Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Regional
    and Language Options/
Restrict selection of Windows menus and dialogs language
Restricts the UI languages Windows should use for the selected user
When I log on the user display language is not set, but it seems that the GPO has been applied correctly (GPResult)....
What am I doing wrong ?

    Hi,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
As you have configured GPO setting, please have a look at registry setting and check whether it is properly configured over there.
The Display Language was controlled by the REG_MULTI_SZ key PreferredUILanguages under
    HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop
Create this key "PreferredUILanguages" with ja-jp when need Japanese and delete it to get back English.
You can export this Registry Key and import it instead of edit this key directly.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
    "PreferredUILanguages"=hex(7):6a,00,61,00,2d,00,6a,00,70,00,00,00,00,00
    Hope it helps!

    Zenworks 7
    ZDM 7 SP1 IR4 HP4 applied
    Workstation policy package GPO:
Computer and Security checked - with persist
    User policy package GPO
User checked - with Cache set
When logging in to Novell client on network, the policies work fine.
Logging in workstation only is when the problem exists.
    Two errors show -
Error 2 reading Cache User Settings
    Error 0x2 refreshing User policy.
    Attached is the WMGrpPolUser.log
