This command does not protect files from deletion by Lightroom - anybody know if its possible?

Silly me - I just assumed it did, since I've been prompted before whether I really want to delete read-only files... - I guess its an app-specific thing.

You and me both. It seems like the kind of thing that once you understand it, its hard to remember what its like to not, or something. The theory is relatively easy to understand, but its the devil in the details about just when and who decides and what user is in play when a particular thing is happening... I have backups that I can't open because I dont have permission. Say what??? Or documents and settings folders on a drive pulled from a different system that I cant open... Seems most educational material stops shy of the stuff you really need to know to deal with it in the real world. (or maybe I'm just being dense and not being fair...)

I'll look into it and report back - thanks a bunch John

  • Mulit-level linking to master data via navig attribs:  A saga in two parts

    The Saga, Part 1
I have a requirement to provide access to a hierarchy belonging to a characteristic that is not contained in an infocube.  At first I thought I was going to have to add this characteristic to the cube, but then I realized the characteristic is a navigational attribute of another characteristic that is contained in the cube.
    The Question, Part 1
Will users be able to use this navigational attribute as a selection criterion on reports, and will they be able to activate and use the display hierarchy associated with this characteristic?  (I'm anticipating the answer to this question will be yes.)
    The Saga, Part 2
Assuming the answer to the above is yes, let's carry this one step further.  The navigational attribute described above (let's call it the "local" navigational attribute) also possesses navigational attributes, one of which users want to be able to use as a selection criterion on the same report (let's call this one the "remote" navigational attribute).  They also want to be able to use the display hierarchy on this remote attribute.
    The Question, Part 2
I know this is a long shot, but can a navigational attribute of a navigational attribute be accessed in BEx?  Can that remote navigational attribute be used as a selection criterion?  Can its hierarchy be used in a query?  The scenario would look something like the following:
    BASIC CHAR (contained in infocube)
      |
       --> LOCAL NAVIG ATTRIB
              |
--> REMOTE NAVIG ATTRIB (hierarchy needed in report)
I'm anticipating the answer to Question #2 will be no, but I just wanted to be sure.  I'm guessing I'll have no choice but to add at least one of these characteristics to the cube.
    Thanks
    P.S.  We're running BW 3.1, BI Content 3.3.

The answer is yes. It helps not to have the IO in the cube and still use it in the front end.

When read this thread, I was curious to see if it works or not. I did try to do this on coorder, plant and plant category. Guess what, it didn’t work. I even flagged it “NAVIGATIONAL ATTRIBUTE INFOPROVIDER” in the IO maintenance to see it reflects on the cube’s navigational attributes
    No this scenario wont work.
So in the infocube maintenance you need to see something like this basic char__local navig__remote nav to make the scenario work. Which is obviously unavailable in the cube maintenance.
I would love to see some one make this work. Reduces lot of effort to realign data in the cube if there is a problem in the master data.

  • Problem making an infoobject navigation attrib in multiprovider

    Hi
I have a bespoke infoobject ZPNLATTRB assigned as a navigation attribute of 0ACCOUNT master data.  I could successfully switch this infoobject as nav attrib in the cubes and dso.  However when I tried to switch this infoobject as nav attrib in the multiprovider (containing those cubes and dso), I received an error 'Assignments for InfoObject 0ACCOUNT__ZPNLATTRB have not yet been maintained'.
    The Diagnosis says:
The MultiProvider definition contains an InfoObject that has not been assigned to the relevant InfoProviders.
    The Procedure says:
Choose Identification and highlight the assignment for InfoObject 0ACCOUNT__ZPNLATTRB, or remove the InfoObject from the MultiProvider.
I don't reckon I need to map the nav attrib ZPNLATTRB as its value is derived through 0ACCOUNT.
    Please help.
    Many thanks,
    Anthony

    Hi Sarah
Yes, thanks, I've managed to assign the nav attrib ZPNLATTRB in the multiprovider.. it took me some time to look for the 'assign'.
I have a further question relating to this.  In my multiprovider I have included 2 cubes and an infoset and in this infoset I've included a write-opt. DSO.  I had to create an inner join between my DSO and the 0ACCOUNT master data in order for the ZPNLATTRB to appear in the multiprovider for assignment between the infoset and the 2 cubes for this nav attrib.
I'd like to avoid using inner joins in my infoset as it slows down reporting.  Do you know of a better way to design this model?
    Please let me know.
    Many thanks,
    Anthony

  • Nav attrib in master data

    Hello,
i can't see any values for sales dist which is nav attrib of 0sold_to. All my r/3 transactions capture cutomer values in 0sold_to object.
0sold_to is created with reference 0customer.
0customer also has sales dist as nav attrib.
My reports and cubes don't show any values for sales dist. i want sales dist to be picked up from customer master data and displyed in reports.
i have loaded 0customer master data and it(master data for 0customer) shows values for sales dist.
i have not loaded 0sold_to seperately(as it is reference to 0customer).
    Please suggest....
    thanks

    Hello A.H.P,
thanks a lot. i could also assign points to the earlier post today. there seemed to be a problem in assigning yesterday.
anyways, can u please elaborate on the need to run attribute change run? also do we need to select the infoObjects(which ones) in the attrib change run screen or do i need to run it for all objects availble?
also how do i use transaction rsrv? i have never used it before!!

  • Add Attrib to Master data

    Hi,
I have to add a new attrib to the Master data object, the question is:
      - will the Aggr have any effect without data or with data
      - if this Attrib is not needed in the Aggr, do i still need to rebuild those Aggr

adding an attribute will not affect aggr

  • What exactly is Update method Master data attrib with a Time dependency ?

    Hi Experts,
I have a Update rule in which i have an Update Method  "Master Data Attrib of " with Time dependency
basically we are loading (update rule of )   0PAYROLL AREA ,
at Master data attribute of  we have 0EMPLOYEE
at Time Dependency When reading Master Data  END radio button is checked
frm it is mention as 0CALDAY.
please explain what is function of 0calday here?
I understand that 0PAYROLL AREA is a attribute of 0Employee and since from R/3 we are getting only 0EMPLOYEE so we are filling it from 0employee but  what is the significance of 0CALDAY here?
    Regards,
    RG

    Hi RG,
It fills the valid value of 0PAYROLL for a particular 0EMPLOYEE in a particular time frame.
    Elaboration.
Say  Employee          Payroll                  Valid from          Valid to
            RG                    1000000                 01.01.2007        31.12.2007
            RG                    2000000                 01.01.2008        31.12.2008
            RG                    3000000                 01.01.2009        31.12.2009
The if your transaction data has RG employee in it with a transaction on 0CALDAY = 12.05.2007 then the valid payroll at that time would be 100000.
On Calday 05.05.2009 your payroll would be 300000.........
So for different days different payroll values would be valid.
You require calday to find out which payroll value is valid in the timeframe of a transaction.
In your update rule it is bringin the value of valid attribute value for the time of the transaction.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,
    Sunmit.

  • Attrib Change Run

    Hi All,
I have a Master Data object with both Attributes n Hierarchies. I am trying to build a process chain to load this MD Object.
Now I pulled the InfoPackage that is loading Attributes into the chain.
Do I need to run the Attrib. Change Run for this InfoObject before I schedule the InfoPackage for Hierarchies for the same InfoObject?
Or can I just run the Attrib. Change Run after loading both Attributes n Hierarchies?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Pradeep

    Kumar,
the guys are right. to pull the steps a little more apart lets put it this way once again:
from my experience the change run should not even affect the hierarchy upload as this goes to a different table. but this would be the 'cowboy' way.
you are doing best practice if you have the change run scheduled immediately after the attribute upload and then the hierarchies. this is the 'gentleman' way.
      happy computing!
    Cheers,
    Harry

  • Creating a Process chain for hierarchy under 0Cust_Sales: Attrib? Text? too

    Hi,
I have a standard hierarchy under 0Cust_Sales which I need to create a process chain for so that this hierarchy will be updated from R3 on a daily basis.
What is normal to do in this case:
    Create a
    1. Create a process chain to load the Hierarchy under this 0Cust_Sales?
    Or,
    2. Create a process chain to load the Hierarchy and the Attrib?
    Or,
    3. Create a process chain to load the Hierarchy, the Attrib and Text?
What is the pros and cons of each choice?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Sorry for the confusion...yes I mean attributes by master data.
Do you load with master data for 0cust_Sales separately, before loading the Attrib, Text and Hierarchy (in order)?
attribute text and hieracrhy are the master data for 0cust_sales.
You load attributes first and then text and then hierarchy. This is not a rule but for the better control and understanding.
But keep a seperate chain for each along with the same grouping like all the attributes load together in same chain and text load together and hierarchy load together in other chains.
Since attributes change frequently and you need to reload it everyday therefore keep it separate
Hierachy may give you tough time with failures in process chains and will not change frequently so keep it separately in another chain.
You need to use an attribte change run (change run) after any new master data is loaded.
this is done to reallign the new SID'S created for the new master data object with that of cubes where they are used and affect these changes in the aggregates which are built on them.
So better put it after the three chains have run or atleast after the master data chain has finished.
    Thanks

  • Set/get attribs via SubVI (revisited)

Greetings. This question was asked about a month ago (See "How to
set/get..." by John Cruz, 3/20/00 in this newsgroup), but the ensuing
discussion didn't address a similar question that I have.
The question is the same: Is there a way to set/get attributes of a control
(like "Visible" or "Disabled") on the front panel of a VI directly from
    within a subVI?
The solutions given last month all appeared to require an output of the
subVI wired to the attribute node inside the calling VI, and I'd like to
avoid that. E.g. I would like to set an attribute of a top-level control
using a subVI, but using a subVI that has NO OUTPUTS.
Another way to think of it is that I'd like to discover something like a
    "Global Attribute
Node" for a control which itself is not global. I.e. an
attribute node which could be referenced from any VI but would still affect
only one control on a different VI's front panel. Obviously that specific
creature doesn't exist, but that's the idea I'm after.
Sufficiently confused? My main goal here is really to enable and disable
buttons through a subVI, and to avoid using more wires whenever possible. I
    guess I'm a LabView neat-freak. :-)
Thanks in advance for any advice!
    Justin Goeres

A "creature" such as a Global Attribute Node for a control does not exist
yet in LabVIEW. My guess is that sooner or later you will be able to open a
"Control Reference" to a VI FP control and use it to call "Property Nodes"
and "Invoke Nodes" to sets its attributes from anywhere in your application
or even from another application, as it is currently possible for VIs with
    the VI Server.
For the moment, a VI must set its attribute nodes on its own diagram. To set
attribute nodes from outside the VI you must provide a method to communicate
with the VI and tell it which value to set its attribute.
For example, the VI can read a global variable in a while loop to update the
attribute node to whatever value have been written to by other running VIs,
even by its subVIs. provided that the loop execute in parallel with the
    subVI call.
Instead of using a global, you can wire a front panel control to the
attribute node. A VI that wants to modify the attribute node then uses VI
Server method "Set Control Value" on this front panel control to write the
    new value.
Basically, all you need is a technique to pass data between VIs; you can use
any other you like (notifiers, TCP/IP, etc).
Of course, when you design your VI, you must know in advance which attribute
nodes will eventually need to be externally updated and wire them
accordingly. Hopefully, this won't be necessary if a "Control Reference"
ever come to be implemented in LabVIEW.

  • Problem with set/get attribs in HttpSessions

I'm collecting data attributes from an LDAP server and storing them in the individual session. The string containing the attribute name is comprised of 3 elements concatenated together: the servet name, the literal "selectID" and a 4 digit sequence number converted to a string using the valueOf method. The session will contain 10 or more of these uniquely name session attributes. But, when I later attempt to retrieve them, every call to getAttribute retrieves the same data element, the last one stored. I have verified that I am using unique attribute names, yet mu servlet behaves as if its always over-writing the same attribute. Are there any sutble "gotchas" I need to allow for???

Any chance you're populating the same object every
time from LDAP? If all the references added to the
session were the same, then the value would be the
    last one added.
If this is not helpful, can you post the relevant
code?Nope. But I did finally discover my error, staring at me right in the face and me with a sheepish grin -- a dumb newbie error, and at my age :-) The object in question is a 7 element String array and I was declaring it outside the for loop reading the enumerations. So I was simply storing the exact same object on each iteration and so naturally, each getAttribute retrieved the exact same object under a different name. Moved the new String[7] declaration to within the scope of the loop, and works jusr like it should. I think I'll go and hide now.

  • In SOLUTION MANAGER, the thresholds for log attrib are not taken in account

I’m using a SAP SOLUTION MANAGER to monitor any satellites systems.
In this case, I have a problem with the monitoring of BDoc messages for a satellite.
I’m declaring some threshold for BDocs in error status and anothers thresholds for BDocs in waiting for response in SOLMAN.
Unfortunately, the thresholds are not taken in account.
Here, you should find the threshold in the setup monitoring:
          green to yellow: 10
          yellow to green:   11
          red to yellow:       9
          yellow to green:   8
When I have only 2 errors in the satellite system and 1 entrie in Waiting status ,I have 2 red alerts in SOLMAN. It is not correct because my thresholds in SOLMAN are greater than this values.
unfortunately thresholds are only considered for performance attributes
(see legend in the monitoring setup). For all other MTE types in CCMS
the tresholds are not considered. The BDoc MTEs that I have used
in my example is a log attribute.
Please, someone could you help me to solve this problem or indicate me how to correct this problem with another tips?
    best regards
    cesario

Sorry, but what you say is not a good idea, since it would mean changing a standard object. But what I posted is ok, using a redefinition of the method GET_DQUERY_VALUEHELPS works perfectly well for the need.

  • Inhiterance:unknow down-cast exception.Access a private attrib.from subclas

    Hi guys,
    I need your help.
Many examples, shows that i can create a sub-class inheriting from a super-class, add methods and attributes, make something like : <subclass variable> ?= <superclass instance> and then call method of the subclass (that are able to access to protect data of superclass instance for example).
But when i try to do the same with a class derived from cl_gui_alv_grid, i have always a casting type exception in the down-cast instruction.
    Example :
    field-symbols: <outtab> type standard table.
    data : gos_alv type ref to cl_gui_alv_grid.
    *       CLASS lcl_gui_alv_grid DEFINITION
class lcl_gui_alv_grid definition inheriting from cl_gui_alv_grid.
      public section.
        methods : get_tab_line.
    endclass.                    "lcl_gui_alv_grid DEFINITION
    *       CLASS lcl_gui_alv_grid IMPLEMENTATION
    class lcl_gui_alv_grid implementation.
      method get_tab_line.
    * mt_outtab is the data table held as a protected attribute
    * in class cl_gui_alv_grid.
assign me->mt_outtab->* to <outtab>. "Original data
      endmethod.                    "get_tab_line
    endclass.                    "lcl_gui_alv_grid IMPLEMENTATION
    data : l_alv type ref to lcl_gui_alv_grid.
But when i do a downcast like this (gos_alv was already created with "create object" istruction):
    l_alv ?= gos_alv.
I have an exception of casting error. I cannot understand why and how to solve the problem.
Thank you very much for your collaboration.
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea,
I suggest you to tweak a code a litte bit as I guess the point is to get mt_outtab table, right?
CLASS lcl_gui_alv_grid DEFINITION INHERITING FROM cl_gui_alv_grid.
      PUBLIC SECTION.
CLASS-METHODS get_tab_line IMPORTING o_alv TYPE REF TO cl_gui_alv_grid.    "declare method as static one
    ENDCLASS.
    CLASS lcl_gui_alv_grid IMPLEMENTATION.
      METHOD get_tab_line.
        FIELD-SYMBOLS <outtab> TYPE STANDARD TABLE.
        assign me->mt_outtab->* to <outtab>.
        "your desired coding here
      ENDMETHOD.
    ENDCLASS.
Now all you need to do is to call static method get_tab_line providing your actual alv reference
    data : gos_alv type ref to cl_gui_alv_grid.
    CREATE OBJECT gos_alv ....
    lcl_gui_alv_grid=>get_tab_line( gos_alv ).
As for your question, why this code
    l_alv ?= gos_alv.
    triggeres an exception cx_sy_move_cast_error .
    If you use this coding
      TRY.
          l_alv ?= gos_alv.
        CATCH.
          cx_sy_move_cast_error
    "system will end up here
      ENDTRY.
...you would prevent the system to dump out, but the exception will be triggered anyway. You will just catch it.
The problem arises simply from fact that down cast checks wheterer these two reference variables l_alv and gos_alv are on the same level. This is why you put there question mark ? asking the system if gos_alv in fact contains appropriate reference. You can only evaluate it during program execution.
When it comes to down cast always image such situation.
You have VEHICLE class (your cl_gui_alv_grid ). The class which inherits from it is PLANE (your lcl_gui_alv_grid). Now you can always do such assingnment
    VEHICLE = PLANE (cl_gui_alv_grid = lcl_gui_alv_grid)    "up cast - narrow cast
but you never can do this
    PLANE = VEHICLE (lcl_gui_alv_grid = cl_gui_alv_grid)  "down cast
It is becasue plane is always a vehicle, but vehicle doesn't have to be a plain. It can be either a truck, ship or a plane.
Therefore for down cast you always has to ask system if VEHICLE really contains (during exection) reference to a PLANE. That's why you write it like
    PLANE ?= VEHICLE (lcl_gui_alv_grid ?= cl_gui_alv_grid)
The system checks then if vehicle really contains plane reference inside.
Thought it might be not useful for first sight, it is a basis of polimorphism, but it is a talk for another time;)

  • How to track isAttributeChanged on Non Entity derived Transient VO attrib

    Hi fren,
How can I track isChangedAttribute on Non Entity derived Transient VO attribute. I have tried with RowImpl.isAttributeChanged(attribute_name). But it always true even without changes as it is non persistent attribute. Is there any way to keep track of attribute change status?
    Thanks,
    - Robin

    Hi Timo,
    I am using
    JDev 11.1.1.3.
I have a flag attribute to store isModified status. comparing old value with new value in setter method of RowImpl class is the way then ??
    Thanks.
