ATV and Photo App: Event based sorting disappeared

With the new update to the new Photo app, I can no longer view my photos from my TV (via my Apple TV) sorted by "events."  Everything is sorted only by the actual folders the pictures are in, and since most of my photos are in the iPhotos Library "file" I can't sort these in any useful way.
Please fix this so that I can view the photos using the events based sorting method, which is how I have been organizing my photos for the last several years in iPhoto.  Thank you.

Thanks for the reply.  I went to iTunes --> Files --> Home Sharing --> Choose Photos to Share...and was able to click on the share "Photos" option from the pull down menu.  This wasn't there yesterday so looks like there was an update in the meantime.
The problem is that the photos are shown in chronological order, so it's a pain to scroll all the way down to get to the more recent photos.  Hopefully Apple will fix this soon, like the way they had it in iPhotos.

  • IOS 8 Photos App - Events Album Sort Order is Screwed

    Hi,
When I sync my photos (that are grouped into Events) from my Mac iPhoto Library, to my iPhone and view them in the iOS 8 Photos App, all the events are no longer sorted in order - they used to be sorted chronologically in 7.1.
To try and find the event photos that you are looking for is now impossible.
Does any one known how to fix this or is it a regression bug that they have introduced with iOS 8?
    Rgds
    Gary

This is such a cluster-f*ck.  I was stunned when I found the change to iOS 8 brought this mixed up order of my events from my iMac's iPhoto.  Having them in Events by month/year was the only way I could keep a reasonable handle on where everything is.  This is completely unacceptable from Apple.
Then again, it seems from what I read around the Internet, those of us using iPhoto as our managing software AND using it to sync pics to our i-devices are a clear and dwindling minority.  Maybe Apple just didn't think it important enough to bother, but they need to fix this.
What would have been completely helpful and awesome with iOS 8 would be the importing of keywords (and descriptions, but at least keywords) for those of us syncing from iPhoto.  I can understand why Apple wouldn't have done so years ago (memory onboard our i-devices), but today there's no reason for this.  Those tiny, tiny bits of data should come over with the photos to make them searchable by keyword.  I'd care less about the Events being out of order if I could search by keyword on my iPhone or iPad.
Come on Apple... we have enough storage space to make this happen.

  • Camera and Photos app keeps crashing!!!

I had no problems last week until yesterday...i even did a clean restore but still the camera and photos app tend to crash
it keeps stating "Please Wait" Updating Library...
and the bar reaches up to about 30% loading and then crashes....anybody else having these problems on their 3gs?

This means the answer is no - a clean restore does not mean you restored your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. If there is a problem with your iPhone's backup, restoring from the backup will also restore the problem.
All photos and/or video in your iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Not a good idea to depend on your iPhone and your iPhone's backup alone for this data in the event your iPhone is lost or stolen and it is not replaced with another iPhone, or there is a hardware problem with your iPhone.
I always import all photos and videos captured by my iPhone with my computer ASAP as with any other digital camera and as with any other digital camera, I delete the photos and videos from the camera after the import process is complete. This also helps to keep the iPhone's backup time to a minimum, provides me a copy of this data on my computer for viewing along with including this data with my computer's backup along with all other important data, and if I want any of the imported photos and videos available on my iPhone for viewing, I can transfer the photos and videos from my computer to my iPhone via the iTunes sync process as with any other photos/video.
Try importing the photos/videos from your iPhone's Camera Roll followed by deleting the photos/videos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete. If no change after doing so, restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.

  • Can't access photos in camera roll - camera and  photo app crashes

Have iphone 4 with iOS 5.0. Took pictures but now I can't access any photo in the Camera Roll. When I now try to take a picture, Camera app crashes. If I try to access the Camera Roll via Photo App, it too crashes. Can't see the photos from iTunes either. Shows it as unknown data. Is there anyway to rebuild the photo library or remove a corrupted photo since I think that is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks to Steve Kehlet who posted the solution that helped me and saved my day, https://discussions.apple.com/message/16405821#16405821

You will need to download PhoneView, but the free 7 day demo does the job - and my camera and photo app are up and running again!

  • Messages and photos apps freezing my macbook

Since I updated to 10.10.3 my messages app and photos app freeze my macbook. I have to hard reboot it to get anywhere. If I click on either of those before anything else it won't let me go any further. But everything else seems fine. I haven't been using them and haven't had any issues since.  Any suggestions? Or is anyone else having this issue?

Have you installed "Kaspersky Security" or any other "anti-virus" software?

  • A pop up asked to share my photos with my other devices came up and I clicked yes, now all my camera roll and photo stream pics have all disappeared?

A Pop up came up and asked if I wanted to share my photos with my other devices? I clicked yes and now all my camera roll and photo stream pics have all disappeared!! Well over 1000 pics??

What 'pop up' what did it actually say, and what were you doing when it said it,

  • Why won't the Camera and Photos apps work? I can't access my photos or take new ones.

I can no longer take new photos, or access my camera roll or photo stream from within the camera or photos apps.
Several days ago I took an HDR photo and the phone became unresponsive on the "saving" dialog with the progress loop rolling. After 15 minutes, and multiple attempts at getting it un-hung, I forced a restart of the phone. Since then, whenever I take a picture, the app disappears and drops me on the home screen right after the "iris" graphic clicks on the screen. The same app crash happens when I simply try to look at previously saved pictures in either the camera or photos apps. Since then I have synched the phone, and performed a factory reset, and neither has fixed the problem. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I get use of my camera back?

I'm having the same problem, but am traveling for business right now so all I can do is restart the phone.  I don't live near an Apple store either, so I don't know how I'll get it fixed.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  • Airplay and videos in camera roll and photos app

Does anyone know if airplay allows you to push videos shot with the iPhone that are currently in the camera roll, or videos synced from iPhoto that are in different albums on the photos aPP?

Just installed and tested the updates for the iPhone 4 and ATV.
When airplaying videos from the iPhone 4 to ATV, all videos in the iPod App, videos section, can be airplayed with no problem. However, for videos in the "photos" app (ie: videos you've recently taken with your iPhone camera), there is simply no airplay button. The still photos have an airplay button, and can be airplayed to your ATV with no problem. But the videos cannot. This is odd and disappointing for me, because this was the feature I was most excited about: Taking a video of my 7-month-old son with my iPhone 4 at one point during the day, then airplaying it to the ATV to show my wife and others later in the day, without having to bother to synch my iphone to my computer, put the video into iTunes, and navigate to it on the ATV.

  • Nokia N86 Photos corrupt and Photo App not working

My photo's seem to be getting corrupted after I have taken them and I don't know why. I can copy them on to my computer but when I go into the photo's app they were broken images but I can't find them via file manager. Then I was unable to get into the photo app at all. It just wouldn't open.

    Hi varunreddy444,
    Welcome to Nokia discussions board!
You can in fact reinstall an update that you have installed on your device. Just connect your phone to Nokia Suite on your PC and go to software updates and "reinstall".
If the issue persists, please reset your device. First of all back up all contents: Options > Back up on Nokia Suite. Then type *#7370# on your phone's keypad. When prompted, enter lock code 12345 which is by default, or the code you have changed it to. You will then be able to access social apps and Nokia Store again.
Let us know how you get on and feel free to post any other questions you may have.

  • ICloud and Photos app are not showing full resolution photos

Since migrating my iPhoto library to Photos, it has had problems showing the full resolution of photos. I initially had "Optimize Mac Storage" selected, but even when I had space available, it would not download the full resolution version of a photo. The loading circle in the bottom right corner would spin until it would be 'fully loaded' but the photo would not become the full resolution photo. I then checked "Download Originals to This Mac", but after it said it had downloaded the full sized versions of everything, the same problem occurred. I then went to iCloud and the iCloud Photos app and saw that some of my photos were displayed at about 1/3 the size on the screen. This wasn't just zoomed out. When I zoomed in closer the image did not resolve any better.
HOWEVER, downloading the photo from iCloud and opening it in preview gave the full resolution photo. I have attached an image showing the different levels of resolution from os x Photos app, iCloud, and the downloaded image (shown in Preview). I used the zoom slider on Photos until it reached 100%, I set the view in Preview to "Actual Size", but in iCloud to get the same dimension image, I had to zoom to 200%+.
Another thing that I noticed was that this doesn't happen to all of my photos:
It definitely happens to all of my photos taken with a Fujifilm X-M1, where I shoot in RAW, adjust and process in Lightroom, then export JPEGs to iPhoto. These tend to be slightly smaller (largest side 2048 pixels).
It doesn't happen to photos taken with 645Pro app (where I still export JPEGs to iPhoto with largest side 2048 pixels).
It happens to some, but not all, photos taken with the iPhone's native camera app
I am very confused. Also, even after having checked "Download Originals to this Mac" and letting it download everything, the Photo Library is only 3.77 GB. In iCloud it is ~10GB and my old iPhoto library was about ~15GB.

I now discovered that I can't edit photos in the Photos app (presumably because Photos is not communicating well with iCloud and can't download the full resolution photo to edit).

  • Iphoto, WD my cloud and photos app

    Hi all,
Please let me start by giving some background info to my question.
I have recently bought a WD My Cloud, and am trying to store my photo library on it.
Since I've read in various forums that it's not possible to have iphoto on a external volume (not ios formatted or so), i have deleted iphoto and the iphoto library completely from all my devices. So just before someone's telling me that it's not compatible again: I know.
Next step is that i have copied all my photos (incl folder structure) manually to the my cloud by drag and drop in Finder on mac.
On my iPad, I have installed the WD photos app.
After a lot of trial and error, I have even come as far as uploading photos from the ipad camera roll to the My Cloud.
So far so good, right? Now comes the weird thing:
At first time setup of the device in the app (so i did some upload with the little button showing a camera and "up"-arrow, but not clicked on the device icon before), it is trying to sync iPhoto library, 4896 photos (incl masters, previews and thumbnails) to Public/Shared pictures/uploaded/iphoto Library.photolibrary/....
But how is that possible? I deleted iphoto, right?
Also surprising, the app does not see the folders I've uploaded manually via finder (yet)...
I have already tried re-installing the app, removing cloud access for the ipad, rebuilding the DLNA media database, restarting devices (in various sequences, just to be sure).
So my question: Why is the app still trying to upload (or sync) iphoto library??? Does it still exist somewhere in the background? Am I overlooking something?
The app does not get out of "First Time Setup" status.
I am also posting this question to WD support. Hope someone can help...

No idea - not even clear on what you are doing
How about a post with just the evelant facts about your question about iphoto for the Mac - most if not all of what you posted is irrevalent to that - nothing on your iPad, nothing about WD Photo app, etc
What version of iPhoto? What OS? what do you want iPhoto for the Mac to do? And what is it not doing or doing that you do not want?
And you are correct that your question may be purely a WD support question

  • ICloud and Photos app are not working anymore after updating iOS 8.0.2 !!!

I've just upgraded iOS 8.0.2 with .ipsw file. It asked for my iCloud password in Set Up. It says it's wrong. So i skipped it.
I tap iPhoto and it tells me to marge the photos to Photos app. It was going fine and then suddenly, it closed. Now i can't open the Photos app anymore. I've rebooted and deleted iPhoto app. I can't even open through Camera.
I can't see my profile in iCloud (in Settings). It's keeping me the password. Its still wrong. I can't even turn off Find My iPhone to restore my iPhone. It says verification failed.
I don't know what to do anymore. I still can use my iCloud on my Computer. I still can use everything and everywhere except on my iPhone.

You are not alone. I got that issue also. I always reboot my phone or reset the network setting but it only work for a few hours.
