ATV as Airtunes Client using Itunes Party Shuffle

Hey guys, I like to set up a Party Shuffle on the upstairs iMac, connect to the ATV as an airtunes client and that allows me to use the onscreen display on my TV to show what is playing in the Party Shuffle, and that of course lets me use the ATV remote to skip songs etc., but is there anyway to see the upcoming songs in a playlist on the ATV-connected TV screen like you can on the iMac when you look at Party Shuffle? It's a great way to have the two floors of the house enjoying the same music at the same time. Has anyone noticed a way to do this? Thanks in advance.
Lovin' my ATV more and more everyday!
Brian.

Unfortunately you cannot do this with the tv.

  • Itunes Party Shuffle not Shuffling

I recently moved my music from my PC to my laptop via the iTunes CD Backup. Since then, the iTunes party shuffle, which i use when I'm doing homework won't shuffle the songs, it instead just plays them in alphabetical order by title. how do i change this?

It seems it's even worse. At the bottom of the page, where it says select source, I picked a playlist that has my 5 star rated songs, yet the main list in the shuffle area stubbornly remains the same.

  • ITunes Party Shuffle not working

Has anyone had trouble with the iTunes party shuffle not working? I have unistalled iTunes and reinstalled iTunes hoping that would fix the problem but I just keep getting an alphabetical list of my songs in the party shuffle mode.

Thanks so much you have made me VERY HAPPY!!!! Love that Party Shuffle!!!

  • Why can't iTunes Party Shuffle podcasts?

This is really annoying because I'd like to mix news up-dates in with my music in Party Shuffle, but iTunes doesn't allow this. Does anyone have a work around?
    Thanks.

You have to be using iTunes 5. You then have to select a single podcast and get info on it. In the options turn off "Skip when shuffling". You then have to repeat for each other podcast.

  • ITunes party shuffle

Hi there, would anyone be able to tell me why if I select "display 0 recently played songs" and "50 upcoming songs" in my party shuffle it still plays songs that can be found in my recently played list? What is it's definition of recently played, does it mean songs recently played in the party shuffle as opposed to recently played in general? And what does upcoming mean?
Is there any way of being more specific for example by dissallowing songs that have been played in the last week and so on? My party shuffle draws songs from another playlist of my favourite songs from the library.
It'd be good if the party shuffle or smart playlists were smarter and you could choose more than one set of rules! eg. "do not include songs played in the last week and do not include an artist in the playlist more than once" etc. Is there any way to achieve this?!
    Thanks for any help!

Thanks Colin, I didn't notice the plus and minus signs that let you add or take away rules in the smart playlist
I've now rigged up a couple of smart playlists and a party shuffle that creates a really good mix, the only thing is that because I've got more albums by some artists than others, the artists that have more albums are randomly selected more often. Do you know if there is any way I can limit the number of times an artist can appear in a smart playlist? I found the script that creates a playlist of one song by every artist, but once a song by a particular artist has been played it will not automatically replace that song with another song by that artist if there is one.
    Thanks again, Darren

  • ITunes Party Shuffle - Questions

I have read several discussion but have not found one exactly on point with regard to the following:
    1. If I choose any Smart List as my source for the shufle (say Hip Hop/Rap), it plays album in their exact orders. It does not shuffle b/w albums. Example: it will play just Beastie Boys.
    2. Sometimes when I pick a playlist as the shuffle source, I get the following error message "The playlist __________ does not contain any songs playable by Party Shuffle." Why? What does this mean?
    3. General, non-Party Shuffle question: why is it that in my Library some songs are checked (the box is checked), while other songs are not checked? What is the significance?
    Thanks everyone!

    1. Check your shuffle settings to make sure you've got them enabled the way you like. Edit > Preferences > Playback You can shuffle by song, artist, or album.
    2. Are the songs on this playlist checked? They won't play if they're unchecked.
    3. If you want songs to play and be part of shuffle, etc. they need to be checked. ITunes ignores them when they're unchecked.

  • ITunes party shuffle rejects entire music list

I recently marked everything in my "books and spoken" list as "skip when shuffling". I did this by selecting multiple tracks at a time. Now, my party shuffle has nothing in the list. I have verified that my music is not marked "skip when shuffling". I have tried turning shuffle on and off. I have tried dragging music to the party shuffle, and selecting different sources for the party shuffle. I get a message that states that the music in these sources are not abailable for shuffling.
    Now what?
Thanks, and I hope you get lots of points for answering.

Typical reasons for missing files are, you've deleted the files, they are on a disconnected external drive, or the drive has a changed drive letter, you've moved the folder where the files live in some other fashion, a third party app has rearranged the files, or iTunes has got confused about the layout they are supposed to be in.
Generally you need to work out what has happened, reverse the action and everything will be alright again. If it is something you can't/don't want to undo, e.g. a drive letter change, then as long as you can track down the current location of the folder containing the media then my script FindTracks should be able to reconnect it to iTunes.

  • ITunes Party Shuffle Time Duration?

Anyone know of a way to set how long you want a Party Shuffle to go for? I like listening to music when I go to bed. I suppose I could create small playlist and shuffle within that, but I think it would be cool to be able to set Party Shuffle to go for 1 hour and then go to bed. Any ideas? I tried setting the computer to sleep at a certain time, but that didn't seem to work...

You could always set up a smart playlist that uses the conditions "Playlist is (your favorite playlist) and "Last Played is not in the last 1 day" and then set "Limit to 20 songs selected by random". This will randomly select a different set of tunes every night, and with an average of 3 minutes per track limiting the playlist to 20 or so will give you the hour or so you want.

  • Does 'Party Shuffle' function exist on iPod or only on iTunes?

Help! I'm having a NY Eve party tomorrow and am relying on my iPod and iPod HiFi for the music. I wanted to use the Party Shuffle function but I can't see that option on my iPod menu... does it only exist in iTunes? I have never used or created playlists before, so this is all new to me. I have an old 3G iPod, not sure if this makes any difference. All help is very much appreciated!

I have the same question. Where did you find the answer? Thanks

  • Excluding songs from Party Shuffle

I have a lot of classical and jazz on my iPod. I like to listen to that in isolation but not in shuffle. How do I exclude genres from the random selection used when party shuffle lists are created?

    Open iTunes.
    Select Library - Music.
NI View, next tot eh Search at the top right of iTunes, select List or Grouped with artwork, one of the first two button (not cover browser).
Go to menu View -> Show browser.
This will put three boxes at the top of the music library above the songs.
You can use these to select/narrow down the music.
If you want to change info for every song in that Genre (or aArtist or Album), select the Genre, then File -> Get Info.

  • Party Shuffle not shuffling all that much

I use the Party Shuffle feature of iTunes a lot while I'm using my iMac. I've noticed, though, that it doesn't shuffle all that much. I've got somewhere around 5,500 tracks in my iTunes library and I seem to get the same handful of albums and tracks coming up with monotonous regularity.
I'm using version 7.5 of iTunes and Shuffle source is set to "Music", SmartShuffle is set to "Less likely" and "Songs" and I have also done the "delete and refresh" solution suggested in other topics on this forum. None of this seems to have made any difference, so can anyone suggest any other options?
    Thanks.

Check and make sure that all the tracks in the library have a check mark in the little box to the left of the title. If the boxes aren't checked, iTunes will play only a selected song and then stop. If the boxes are all unchecked, I believe you can check them all at once by control-clicking in one box.
    Best of luck.

  • Party Shuffle error

I'm on the most current version of itunes. - 7.1.1. Recently, when I try to use the party shuffle feature, I get the following error:
The playlist "Music" does not contain any songs playable by Party Shuffle. Are you sure you want to chose this playlist?"
I've used this feature before. Thanks!
    Toshiba Qosmio   Windows XP

You get this behaviour if the playlist is empty, I take it Music is not empty? But it also happens if all tracks are unchecked (the little box to the left of the name column).
You can check all boxes quickly with ctrl click in one of the boxes.

  • Party Shuffle - How to exclude songs

    Hi,
I have 3 playlists and the library. One playlist contains meditation songs that I do not want to include when using the Party Shuffle at the Library Level. I also want to achieve the same on my iPod Nano.
I know I can deselect the songs but it is kind of a pain to do so every time I want the shuffle to play. On the other had, I can not do the same on the iPod.
Any ideas will be highly appreciated.

One playlist contains meditation songs that I do not want to include when using the Party Shuffle at the Library Level.
Stop using the party shuffle at the library level. Instead, create a new Smart Playlist with the rule "Playlist is not Mediation_songs", and then party shuffle that instead. You can use the same playlist on the iPod, if you like.
