Atv buffering (after upgrade)
We have seen video buffering issues (and long lag time before video starts) with both ATV2 and ATV3, after the Sept 2013 software update. This happens not only with online videos, but also happens with videos stored in IPAD2, and played via AIRPLAY. Is there any way to reduce this impact?
Hello, Sparamag.
The most common reason for this issue would be related to router settings or out of vintage router protocol. I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below. This information should provide you some insight on how to correct this issue.

One of my kids upgraded my 40GB ATV from 2.1 to 3.0 last night. After the upgrade, ATV does not appear in "devices" in iTunes 8.2.1
I can get the ATV to appear if I turn on streaming, but the only tabs that appear for ATV are Photos and General, no movies and no TV shows.
There's no sync button, and right-clicking the ATV only shows "turn off streaming". When I turn off streaming, the ATV disappears again from the left-hand menu in iTunes.
I have a number of purchased movies on the ATV that I can't sync back to iTunes. Because of the 40GB size limit, some of this content is going to be lost.
How can I get the purchased content from ATV 3.0 back to iTunes 8.2.1?But the problem is that, all of a sudden, I've lost sync from ATV to iTunes.
Therefore, I have purchased content on ATV with no way to sync it to iTunes. This "just happened" (I mean, it WAS working normally and then it stopped after upgrade to ATV 3.0).
I've upgraded iTunes to 9.0.2. I can set up streaming, and that works. But I don't have the option to turn on sync (for any content).
I'm afraid if I disconnect and reconnect all of my ATV purchased content will be lost. -
No sharing library Mac-ATV after upgrade :(
I updated itunes to version 10.2.1. After the update, my mac (mini 09
snow) does not resume from standby when I try to query the library from
apple tv .. I am forced to wake it up manually and do a restart of itunes ...
Can anyone tell me a solution? with the version 10.2 does not happen. i also aupdate the Apple TV with last ios revision (4.2).
I also updated the Apple TV to the latest version of IOS, the 4.2. Now I do not know if the problem is the IOS or iTunes.

Message was edited by: admerscFor a better understanding I try a re-explain my situation :
This is my scenario :
Access Point : Air Port Extreme
Video Server : Mac mini (10.6.6) connected to network (airport extreme) via copper ethernet (wifi disable) (iTunes 10.2.1)
macbook : I use laptop to manage the mini via wifi
Apple TV 2G : I see my dvd library collection streaming from mac mini.
Mac Mini is configured for going to stop after 20 minutes of inactivity, and waking up from network.
After upgrade IOS from 4.1 to 4.2, the Mini don't waking up. I think that ATV don't forward the wake up packet to mini. When this occur, I try manage the Mini from my macbook, and Mini respond correctly. So I think that problem reside in the last IOS 4.2..
Thanks for any advice!! -
TS2972 Home Sharing with ATV stopped working after upgrade to iTunes 11
After upgrading to iTunes 11, my two PCs are no longer visible to Apple TV or the iOS Remote App. I went through all the steps in "Troubleshooting Home Sharing" http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2972 without success. In additions, I tried:
Turning Home Sharing off, then on again on both PCs
Re-created Firewall rules for iTunes
Ran a factory reset on Apple TV
Disabled iPV6 on the network adapter, based on a blogger's fix for an iTunes 10 problem
Some other observations:
Home Sharing was working with Apple TV an hour before I ran the updates for iTunes 11 and Apple TV.
The Apple TV and iOS Remote App are working together, so the network settings must be correct.
The PCs in question are running Window 8 Pro 64-bit and Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
The two PCs can see eachother's iTunes.
It seems likely this is an iTunes 11 issue, but upgrading ATV2 at the same time clouds the diagnostics.
I was just about to order two more Apple TVs, but now have second thoughts now that my ATV2 is just a doorstop.
Any suggestions? You are not alone with issues related to the e1000e (but all they concluded was that reloading the module makes it work again):
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=145564
It seems like this is more your issue:
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux. … devel/8932
But if none of those boot flags work for you, then there's not much you can do, and you'll have to write a script to reload the module each time after initial boot finishes I guess until the module gets fixed.
Also, power management of the PCIe interface causes the e1000e to shut off after a while as well (lots of people on CentOS noticing this):
http://serverfault.com/questions/226319 … ie-aspm-do
So you can use that boot parameter to stop that from happening, if that becomes an issue for you as well. -
Has anyone had buffering problems while streaming after upgrading to 7.1?
I have had no problems with streaming content until the iOS 7 upgrade and I had to totally redo my ipad. Now I am having the same problem after upgrading to 7.1. Thanks for any help.
I have Parallels 6, purchased about 10 months ago. It does not work on ML. No support from Parallels. I find this outrageous

[SOLVED] Key characters wrong after upgrade
Using Sony Vaio Pro after upgrade to 3.11.1-1-ARCH I can only type some keys while holding down "Fn" key. Seems my keymap is incorrect.
e.g when i type the 'p' key i get '*'. I have to hold 'Fn' key to get the 'p'. But 'd' wont display anything at all when 'Fn' is pressed. Very hard to type
However:
arch# localectl status
System Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8
VC Keymap: us
X11 Layout: n/a
It happens at login and also in X. I boot to console (tty1), login then I use
startx
to run Fluxbox.

Since last post I found and read a number of posts relating to HOOKS. Mr Elendig got me thinking that it wasn't an X issue but a system issue.
So....
I put 'keyboard' and 'keymap' hook both before and after 'autodetect' in mkinitcpio.conf and ran
# mkinitcpio -p linux
That didn't work.
I implemented an ~/.Xmodmap file and updated my ~/.Xinitrc according to the wiki.
That didn't work in Fluxbox.
I changed keyboard to 'fr' then back to 'us' both in console and in vconsole.conf.
That didn't work
BUT THEN.....I added
FONT_MAP=8859_to_uni
to my vconsole.conf 'rebooted' and everything worked!! Awesome, right? No.
Because then I
# poweroff
and turned on again and came back to the tty login prompt and the keys were wrong again.
I removed
FONT_MAP=8859_to_uni
from vconsole.conf, rebooted, then put it back in, rebooted and there was no change.
I then added
FONT_MAP=8859_to_uni
to the boot prompt line before booting.
That didn't work.
I also read a post where someone created the LiveUSB on a different computer and this was thought to be the cause of some of their problems after they upgraded the 'linux' pacakge using 'pacman'. I created my LiveUSB on a Fedora 19 system. Not sure if that could be the problem.
Last night I upgraded to Linux 3.11.3-1-ARCH in a hope against hope that would sort things out.
It didn't
I'm new to Linux and have learnt a lot through my Arch Linux install which has been great. I really would like to avoid a fresh install using an Arch Linux created LiveUSB but at the moment that's what I'm looking at unless someone can help me out.
Thanks in advance. -

[SLOVED] All my USB not work after upgrade system.
Hello all,
I'm new in Arch, and i install my system with your LiveCD (2005).
In the first boot, all work good. But after upgrade (pacman -Syu), all my USB device (Keyboard, Mouse) not work.
I'm not using (yet) with Xorg, just in command shell (tty1), But i can't press anything cuz my keyboard not work.
I try to do that (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 19#p906119), but no work to me too.
What i can to do to fix this?

Last edited by KingYes (2011-05-08 11:03:55)FYI, the latest installation CD version is "2010.05". It's best to use the latest. Get it from http://www.archlinux.org/download/
I'm not sure but I believe all other LiveCDs are custom made outside of the official Archlinux development team.
I recommend downloading the CD I mentioned and follow this guide: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners%27_Guide
I've installed arch many times on different hardware and the only time I lost mouse and keyboard was after I removed "10-evdev.conf" and "10-quirks.conf" from /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/. I copied both back from backups, rebooted and m&k were functional again. My guess is "10-evdev.conf" was the file I needed. Check both these files exist. -

after upgrading to mountain lion my calendar does not print in weekly mode anymore
I'm having the same problem with both my Vivotek wired network camera and Panasonic wireless network cameras. At first I thought this was an issue with the video framework in Mountain Lion, but if Firefox is working (I haven't tried it yet), it sounds like it may be an objective-c video library that has been changed. It's possible Firefox is using an objective-c interface that calls an objective-c function that isn't called by Safari or IP Camera Viewer, etc., (possibly a function that is on its way to be deprecated) or Firefox could use it's own library that directly calls the video framework.
Could be the Mountain Lion objective-c framework has a buffering issue.
Since this is occuring in both 3rd party software and Apple software, it sounds like it's an Apple issue. 3rd party applications typically utilize the Apple Developer objective-c frameworks to access video frameworks/libraries (for example, MJPEG). Thus, contacting 3rd party developers may not solve the situation (unless they can figure out a temporary bandaid--possibly figuring out the video framework call that Firefox uses and patching their software to do the same (not a simple task), but could still provide more feedback to Apple via their developer status.
Has anyone attempted to record from their cameras via iMovie or Final Cut Pro X HD? I will try mine later tonight to see if it records the hanging. If it does, then it's looking more and more like Apple's the culprit.
My suggestion is for everyone to file a bug report via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html -
After upgrading to mountain lion, my ip camera video feeds time out
I've been using my iMacs for a few years to monitor six ip Camera video feeds. The cameras I use are both FOSCAM and AXIS brands. I've used a few third party software solutions to do the monitoring, but I could also always use Safari to access a camera at a time by putting that camera's IP address in the address field and logging into the camera.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion, my video feeds started timing out when using DComplex's IP Camera Viewer, so I thought initially it was strictly an issue with that third party app. However, I then logged into my cameras using Safari and they timed out as well. Similarly, when using Axis Camera viewer, my video feeds would time out. It seems as whatever the issue, it does not affect Firefox, because I can still login and monitor 1 feed at a time using that browser without any timeout issues, and for some odd reason, the FOSCAM only program uFoscam works, but the problem for me with that app is that it only works with Foscam, and not the Axis cameras (besides it's an inferior program to IP Camera Viewer in my opinion as well).
Has anyone encountered this problem and come up with a solution? I'm thinking it's some sort of plugin or video codec problem, but it's well above my paygrade to figure it out.I'm having the same problem with both my Vivotek wired network camera and Panasonic wireless network cameras. Cannot get Airplay to work after upgrading to OSX 10.8/iTunes 11.1.3
I have recently upgraded my Mac Mini to OSX 10.8.5 from OSX 10.7.5 and am now unable to play music or internet radio on my stereo. Under OSX 10.7.5 I was able to play iTunes (11.0.3) music and internet radio on my stereo wirelessly via of an AE (A1084).
As part of the update to OSX 10.8.5 a newer version of iTunes was installed (11.1.3) and from that time on I have been unable to play music or internet radio on my stereo. Whenever I attempted to connect to the AE I received a message stating, "An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device Stereo Airport Express G. The network connection failed." I could, however, play both music and radio on a speaker attached to the Mini via USB cable.
Thinking it was the AE causing the problem, I replaced it with a newer version, an A1264. This upgrade now allows connection to the AE and the music/radio begins to play on the stereo, however after a few seconds the transmission cuts out only to resume after about 30 seconds. This stop/start of the transmission had me thinking it was a buffering problem.
I tried this suggestion found on the Forum:
First delete any files that start with 'com.apple.itunes.*' in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/. This will clear your iTunes preferences.
Next, open Terminal.app and run each line one at a time:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes file-buffer-size 512000
defaults write com.apple.iTunes stream-buffer-size 512000
No luck. I still get stutters and skips.
To compound the matter, I have an iPod running iOS 6.1.3 (M540LL/A) with Tunein Radio installed that I use to stream internet radio to the same AE/stereo with no problems, so I know the modem/router feed is good and that the network is functioning properly.
Strangely, I have read no other posts of this problem cropping up after upgrading so it may be a setting on my system that is causing the problem.
Any suggestions?I have what sounds like a very similar issue.
I had my Denon 3312ci working perfectly with Airplay from my 2013 iMac running iTunes. Upgraded to iTunes 11.1.3, and now when I attempt to Airplay direct from iTunes to the 3312, it plays for about half a second and then stops. Displayed on the Amp then says "Assigning Network". The amp starts dropping ping packets at this point. About 15-20 seconds later the pings start coming back, but no Airplay.
I tried different network cables, resetting the microprocessor, a different switch, changing between DHCP and static IP. Was about to make a warranty call to Denon, when I thought maybe I should try Airplaying directly from iphone and ipad. Much to my surprise, it worked from those devices.
I prefer to use my iMac to Airplay rather than ipad/iphone as I found I got next to no audio drop outs using it that way (they are both using wired network), where as ipad/iphone occasionally would get a moment of silence in the middle of a song.
My network set up is fine. I can use internet radio and connect to DLNA services fine on the amp. It is just airplay between iTunes 11.1.3 and the amp where the issue lies.
No fixes as yet, but I have logged a support call with Denon Australia to see what they say. -

My Arch is very slow after upgrading to kernel 3.0
Hi men! This is my first post on this forum, i'm italian and i'm using archlinux since 4 months (sorry if my english is bad)... I would like you to help me to solve a problem: as i wrote in object my system has became very slow after upgrading to kernel 3.0: system booting, applications launch, general responses of my tasks....what's the problem? How can i resolve it? Thanks!!
However the kernel26-lts looks slower than 3.0 so i returned to the last one...iìm going to see dmesg outputs...i've to remove "quiet" from the grub.cfg
EDIT: I've checked but no error is shown....this is dmesg.log:
