ATV does not recognize part of Iphoto Library

I am syncing ATV with an Iphoto Library that resides on an external hard drive. However it appears in the ATV folder selection window that it does not recognize all of the folders that exist when I access Iphoto directly on the external hard drive. For instance I have photos from "2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008". But ATV only shows the folder for "2004 and 2005". Also curious to me is that my iphoto library shows about 11,400 photos in my Library while ATV shows about 11,900 as "Originals". Would appreciate any explanation for the discrepancies. Thank you.

Do you have any photos that don't fit the criteria for the tv (should be JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF or PNG - some TIFFs won't work) or perhaps you have an illegal character (such as '/') in the filename or keywords. You could try making some new albums and slowly adding files to isolate culprits if you think this might be the case.

  • IPhoto does not recognize old backup of library

I have a iPhoto library backup disk (dvd) that dates back to 2006. Iphoto does not recognize the photos and they will not open. How do I get to see the photo's?
    Iphoto 11
iMac 2.4 ghz intel core duo
    OS 10.6.8

The only thing I can think of is that the Library is corrupted in some way. Unusual that the main computer can access it - though it rebuilds the thumbs each time, whiile the other two cannot. I suspect that the permissions warnings are bogus.
Neither of the other machines would be able to read that library without updating it, and in fact, once the 9.5.1 version updates it, the 9.4.3 version wouldn't  be able to read it either.
But either way, each library should ask to upgrade it upon opening, that the don't suggests that the Library is damaged.
You need to decide what version you want to want to view this library with - as you can't view it with either of the other two once you upgrade it. Then from that machine rebuild the Library with iPhoto Library Manager.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • My AppleTV does not recognize my iMAC iTunes library

I have 2 AppleTV 3 connected via Ethernet. I have 2 desktops: one iMAC with OSX10.9 and a Win8. Both are connected to the same Airport Extreme. On both latest iTunes with home sharing is running. Now the wired thing: AppleTV always recognizes my Win8, even if its sleeping. My iMAC it does not recognize even if its not slepping, I do have to start files manually on my iMAC iTunes and send it to the AppleTV in order to be able to watch it. If the iMAC is sleeping (but not turned off!) it does not even recognize the home sharing, if iMAC is awake AplleTC rdcognizes it, but does not get beyond the selection of the iMAC and shows the waiting icon all the time. I went through all the (very poor) Apple support sites, haven't found anything that helps.
Also the Remote App on my iPhone or iPAD is not connecting to the iMAC, but to the Win8.
I had simialr problems before, it seems whenever there is an iMAC or AppleTV update it chages whether its working or not.  Anyone having a similar problem plus solution?
    Thanks!!

  • IPhoto 08: why Finder search does not include pictures in `iPhoto Library`?

If I try and search with Finder for all the images in my HD, there is apparently no way to make it show the pictures contained in the iPhoto Library directory...why?
Of course, if I start search INSIDE the iPhoto Library it will show them.......
It seems like the iPhoto Library directory is somehow 'different' and kept hidden, forcing you to use iPhoto directly.
Any hint on this and possibile workaround in finder?
    thank you

Just got my new MacPro a week ago and had not yet launched iPhoto 08, so I just now did that, authorized it to update the iPhoto stuff already in my account, then dinked around with some things. Changed one photo, deleted some stuff, and so on. Then quit the program. I just did a Spotlight seach on the photo I had altered and it showed up just fine. A command click on the title in the Spotlight results opened up the folder the photo is now in:
    "/Users/francine/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Modified/2007/Pine Lake Resort/titlePLRF_2.psd"
Must admit I was a bit startled by the fact that the iPhoto Library is no longer showing as a folder. Nonetheless its contents do seem to be updated--I imported two photos from an external drive, and they immediately showed up in Spotlight as being in the iPhoto Library.
So the only thing I can suggest is that you try to get Spotlight to re-index your iPhoto Library. You do this by opening the Spotlight pane in System Preferences. Make sure there is a check mark in front of Images, the click the Privacy tab and add your iPhoto Library to the list, you can just drag and drop it into the list. Wait a minute, then select it in the Privacy list and click the minus button to remove it. Spotlight should start re-indexing it.

  • ITunes does not recognize iTunes Music and Library

The iTunes on my flat panel imac does not pick up the music and playlists from iTunes Music and Library. The music is 9.54 gb, the library 1.6 mb, both the same as on my other computer, which displays the playlists properly. I've repaired permissions but have not trashed my iTunes preferences. Any thoughts? Thanks, Dave

I have resolved the problem myself. I ended up having to completely restore my iPhone to factory settings. Then I backed it up with my iTunes library. I also had to do some file organizing because many of the songs I had were copied in multiple places (this was not the cause of the original problem, for the record). After manually deleting all of the music on my iPhone library, I synced it with the computer and simply downloading the new version of my library. The process was kind of confused and unorganized (because I had to figure it out myself), but I'd thought I'd just say that I resolved the problem, and how I resolved it, for posterity and for the benefit of others with similar problems.

  • Does Aperture recognize additions to iPhoto LIbrary?

I've imported my iPhoto library, letting Aperture reference back to the images in the iPhoto library.
My question is... how do I update the aperture library when new additions have been made to the iPhoto library? It doesn't seem to happen automatically and reimporting the iPhoto library doesn't seem to be the answer (but perhaps I'm wrong). Any suggestions?

  • PKCS #11 cfg file does not recognize "()" string in the library path

    Hi,
I have a java applet using the provider class - sun.security.pkcs11.SunPKCS11 class to read the Windows Vista PKCS#11 library(DLL). However, the provider class cannot read the DLL file if it is installed into the default 32-bit directory, ie. C:/Program Files (x86)/ directory. If the DLL is installed into another directory without the "()" string (e.g. C:/Program Files/), there is no problem.
It seems that the provider class cannot recongize the DLL with the path containing "()" string. Is there is any work around to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    KT Chow

    Your xmlschema declares a targetnamespace

This means that the instance must use the schemaLocation attribute to associate itself with the XML Schema
The format of the schemaLocation attribute is schemaLocation="ns url"
You instance document is incorrecly using the noNamespaceSchemaLocation attribute

  • IPhoto '09 does not recognize my library

    Hello from Spain,
Recently I installed iPhoto '09 and everything seemed to work fine. I actualized my library to be able to use faces and places.
Suddenly iPhoto crashed and could not be reopened again. So I reinstalled iPhoto and now I have the problem that it does not recognize my library anymore saying that this current version of iPhoto (8.0) cannot read the library due to a modification done by a newer version.
Did anyone have this kind of problem and can help me out please.
    Thx

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
the problem is not the application but the library - launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) and command (apple) keys and rebuild the library
If that does not work download iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and use its rebuild function which will create a new, rebuild library - if it does not do what you need the original library remains untouched for father work

Apple TV does not recognize my Apple account username (email) and password, but iTunes, my iPad and iPhone does.  I have rest my password three times, same results.
ATV says my computer is not authorized, but i-Tunes says it is.
I have i-Tunes open on my computer and have entered i-Tunes store, ATV says it can't access the store.  Both on the same network!
I am so frustrated with this system!  All these problems with Apple TV are not the end but the beginning.
In i-Tunes, songs are lost when they have not been moved. I lose whole albums I have ripped from CDs to iTunes
An audiobook book in two files are in the library but only one file is recognized by iTunes when I try to play it or transfer it to my iPhone

I Am having the same issue. Ie on the password issue.
I Am using a Macpro though.
i Have had no issues with the setup until recently.
However I think the hard drive is starting to fail as it keeps on losing the wireless connection and gas been stuttering a lot on playback.

  • IPhoto does not recognize Tiff format

I am trying to import my photos in TIFF ext however I get a response from iPhoto that it does not recognize the format.
    What I am doing wrong?
    thank You!

Did this test in the begging, and it doies not give me the option to create a new library.... : /
Then you're not holding the correct key or not holding it long enough while launching.
But I could import all to Aperture and then from iPhoto import the pictures......however when in the iPhoto library they have been "converted" to JPEG file and lost all quality...the same picture in Aperture (TIFF) has 36MB   while in the iPhoto after I imported 684KB!!
You need to understand how to use Aperture. You're getting the Aperture Previews, not the original files.

  • IPhoto '11 9.4.2 does not recognize new photos on iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1

Today when i connected my iPhone 4 the iPhoto app does not recognize new photos from my photo library on my iPhone. Help! Thanx!

Today, I did try something, i changed to a different USB port and connecting cable from my iPhone to my iMac and with iPhoto already open the photos were visible and i was able to download my newest iPhone photos to my iMac. I did this due to the fact that i had this same connectivity problem with the external back up device i use and when i switched that device to a Firewire cable (from a USB) i can now do external backups. Not sure if the issue is with the cable or the USB port, but this worked for me!

    Suggestions?

You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • I suddenly cannot email photos from iphoto. I get a box that says "server does not recognize username or password". I now have to use regular email and cannot re-size my photos.

Suddenly I can no longer email photos directly via iphoto mail.  The box comes up that says "server does not recognize username or password".  I used to be able to re-size my photos before sending so that they jpeg or pixels were larger for publishing in newspapers or magazines, but I can no longer do that.  Apple tech support told me to change my iphoto "preferences" to using regular email to send.  But that does not allow me to re-size.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I don't know if there was an update that caused this or what?  Please help.

The box comes up that says "server does not recognize username or password".
That error message usually will pop up, when there is a conflict between the "From" setting for the mail account you are sending from and the selected outgoing mail server. Probably the outgoing Mail server is receiving a user name and password it does not understand. When the mail returns unsent, do you see the "Try again" panel with the option to select a different outgoing mail server?
If you do not see this panel, change the Mail "Preferences > General" to "If Outgoing server is unavailable: Show a list of alternate servers". This way, you will know, which server Mail is trying to send from.
Have you tried to set "From"  pop-up menu to one of your other email addresses?  If that works, change your settings in Mail to always send from this address. You can set this option in the Mail "Preferences > Composing: Send New Messages from". I have my "Send New Messages from" set to "iCloud". That is working best for me with iPhoto.

I am trying to copy photos from an iPad to a Mac Air, but iPhoto does not recognize them. Please forgive the ignorance, but we have just started moving to apple products and I know nothing about them. Do you have to use PhotoStream to do this?

How did the photos that you want to copy off get on the iPad  ? To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a Mac you should be able to use iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
