ATV - iTunes Summary Screen Question
This may be a silly question, but is the orange band signifying 'other' (content)on the ATV summary screnn the ATV operating system? Blue is audio, yellow is photos, etc. but just curious. I think it is about 100+- MG. Are they all standard in size?
Also, what happens if you try to sync more content than the ATV holds - will an error messae be displayed at some point either in iTunes or on the TV screen?
I am reaching my limit of sync'd material, but haven't maxed it out yet.
Many thanks, Rob
Thanks for the prompt reply - and very interesting - I have no podcasts, no audio books at all anywhere on my hard drive (to my knowledge. I have only audio files and photos.
Could it be there are some hidden in my actual hard drive, but not loaded into iTunes?
I wouldn't know how to access or load either an audio book or podcast.....do these have particular file extensions I could search for?

Can you help me to retrieve my applications. In iTunes I accidentally clicked the Restore button in the Summary screen. It restored the original settings and I lost all my applications and don't know if it is possible to retrieve them.
All apps on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch should be in your iTunes library on your computer.
You can re-download all 3rd party apps and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the apps that was used to purchase the app originally.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Do this with iTunes on your computer. After you have re-downloaded every app one by one, select Sync Apps under the Apps tab for the device's sync preferences along with selecting the apps below that you want transferred to the device followed by a sync to re-install the apps on the device. -
When I plug my iphone in to sync with itunes the summary screen does not come up. I only want to sync music. It starts synching everything.
Disable automatic syncing.
Whatever is selected under the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences will go through the process of being checked - if there are any changes in regards to the data you have selected to be synced with or transferred from your computer regardless. -
Hello Forum members,
I was wondering if it is possible, rather than having a quiz review where you review the quiz questions one screen at a time, if it is possible to create a quiz summary screen, which will provide a summary of which questions were answered incorrectly/correctly (without actually giving the user the correct answers)?
An example of what I'd like to achieve is below:
Is this possible in CP5.5? Perhaps with Advanced Actions/variables?
many thanks
LoraineHello Loraine,
This is possible using Advanced Actions and variables. After every question, On Success you can set a variable to 1 and create a custom screen where you can show/hide the tick mark graphic based on the variable value set.
For Ex:
- For question 1, on success, set x=1
- On the results screen, correct tick mark graphic is hidden. If x=1, then show the correct tick mark.
Like this you can do for all the questions. Will wait for others also to comment for any quicker solution.
Thanks,
Vish -
Installed iTunes and do not get a Summary screen
I have just purchased an iPod nano and installed iTunes for downloading. I am successful with music and audiobooks but do not get a Summary screen to allow me to access the tabs described in the online manuals that would allow me to download photos. What am I doing wrong???
Yes the nano is connected to the computer and sync's music with no problem through itunes. And I am selecting the nano in the source pane. The online documentation indicates that you should be able to select the nano source and a summary screen appears which has music and photo tabs as well as others. I am unable to get that screen.

Screen Order in OPA ( Summary Screen to Question Screen)
Hi All
I designed both Summary screen and Question screen in OPM. How to create the screen order so that summary screen will call specific question screen instead on Automatic screen?
Thanks
DevNotes on terminology:
OPM is the development environment. It is where you write rules in Word and Excel documents, create screens etc, etc.
OPA is a generic term for the technology as a whole but is usually used to refer to actual deployments of the rules engine itself. You provide the engine with data in some way (dependent on your deployment channel) and it gives you back an answer in some way. There are various extension mechanisms available to allow you to do things like get information in from a web-service.
So in answer to your question (as you phrased it):
There are no mechanisms that ship with the product to have data consumed by OPM which is the place that you create rules for later execution in OPA. You would have to code something specifically to do whatever it is you want to do.
What benefit will the web-service provide to someone creating rules? Why do you want to pass information from a web-service into the rules development environment? I'm not saying that there is no use case, I'm just saying that it's not one I've ever heard people ask for before (except in those cases where they got the terminology confused and were actually asking about how to use web-services with OPA but said OPM).
Assuming that you still think this is something you want to do can you please explain why you would want to do that? (If you can explain your use case then that can help the team who build the product to think about ways that they could make it easier in the future)
If you want to know what mechanisms there are for OPA (the rules engine) consuming data that is a different question from the one you asked and for which Jasmine has given you a lot of links to further information - so I'd suggest you read up on them and then refine your question if they do not provide the answer.
If you can make a clearer statement of what you're trying to achieve then you're more likely to get a useful answer (not me, I don't know much about using web-services other than using ODS - Oracle Determination Server - a deployment of the OPA rules engine with a web-service wrapper). -

ITunes 7.0 - Summary screen - what is up with my "other" capacity?
In the newest version of iTunes - when I am on the summary screen - at the bottom of the page - where you see the color-coded explanation of what is taking up the capacity of one's iPod - the largest part of my used space is listed as "other"(in orange) - and is taking 10.25GB - and yet I have no idea what this is - or how to delet/clear it!!! Any help!? Thanks so much!
Compaq Presario Windows XPA restore returns the iPod to factory settings, restores the iPod software and erases everything stored on it.
See: See this: Restoring the 5th generation iPod (iPod with video).
The storage space taken up by "Other" can be made up of, notes, podcasts or any files of any kind you've added to the iPod whilst using it as a hard disk. it's not photos which are stored under "photos".
There will always be a few MBs of used space under "other" but yours is unusually large.
If the iPod is enabled for disk use, you can look at the folders on the iPod through Explorer and delete anything you don't want.
Otherwise restore it and reload everything from your iTunes library. -
IPod Touch syncing no longer showing summary screen on my computer
I transfered all my iTunes library onto my new computer and am now syncing my i-Pod touch to it. At the same time I am upgrading to 3.O. Suddenly I no longer can see my Ipod touch in Itunes listing on left hand side nor does it show the summary screen so I can tell how long my syncing will take. It seems like hours now that my iPod Touch is syncing (per the message on my ipod). How can I make my computer display the summary screen?
I'm having the same exact problem. The thing is...you can even see the songs that you've purchased on your ipod on the left still...it's just that the ipod itself won't show. So I can see what songs I've purchased on my ipod...but I can't put anything on or take any off. I've tried shutting down and restarting...reinstalling itunes...all of that stuff. Nothing has worked.

Hey Smart Apples,
My iTunes Artwork screen saver is not working. After reboot, then selecting iTunes Artwork in System Preferences, just a black screen appears in the preview, as well as when pressing Test, and when allowing the screen saver to start on it's own. The error message in Console says...

also...

The memory address location at the end of each line is different everytime I preview the screen saver.
I've tried...
deleting ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.* files
making sure each album has a cover in iTunes
running Get Album Artwork in iTunes
recreating symbolic link ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music -> ~/Public/iTunes Music/
... but doesn't help.
All other screen savers work... my usual is Flurry, and it works too, but gives invalid framebuffer operation under Console.
Nothing running/checked under Sharing.

Does anyone have a solution?
Environment: Mac OS X (10.7.2), Macbook Pro (late 2008)So it turned out that the cause of the problem wasn't as complicated as I thought...
I had a few songs that were not added to the iTunes library, instead referenced from other locations on my hard drive.
Specifically, if you bring up the Get Info window of a song, under Summary > Where, it may show a different path than your usual iTunes Media folder location, set under Preferences.
E.g. Where: ~/Desktop/downloaded_song.mp3
I guess, this happens when you drag a song into your iTunes instead of adding it to the library, and apparently, causes problems with the Artwork Screen Saver.
Solution:
To correct it,
For those songs, go to File > Add to Library...
Then find and select the song file.
That's all I had to do to get the screen saver working... All your songs have to be added to your iTunes Library.
I think my brother was messing around with my playlist... I hope Apple nails a better way to lock-unlock/secure OS X soon (proximity sensor, biometric 3D face recognition, unique voice recognition, soul recognition, etc.).
That malloc error message still shows up; that must be an unrelated issue with the screen saver.
I hope this helps out all those suffering through the same issue with their iTunes Artwork Screen Saver. -

Customized Quiz Summary screen
<Captivate 7, Win 7>
Hi,
Can we customize Quiz Summary screen?
Can there be a review screen that shows:
custom title of each assessment slide e.g. "Algebra question'
the learners answers
what the correct answers were
AND, on this same screen, can there be a link for the learner to go to any of those quiz items from that screen and review again?
cheers and thanks! You can give each quiz question a Slide Name, yes.
You can edit the Question Title caption to say anything you want, yes.
You can use Variables and Advanced Actions to capture details about what answers the user selected on specific questions and then insert these variables into captions on the Quiz Results slide, yes (but it might get very crowded and 'busy'.
You can insert captions on the Quiz Results slide that show the correct answer for specific questions, yes (but again I think you won't have the room for all this).
You can place Smart Shape buttons on Quiz Results slides and use these to jump to other slides in the project, but when you jump back to those slides you may be initiating a new attempt on the quiz if there are more attempts allowed. So this might mean you don't see the user's previous answers displayed. Clicking the Review Quiz button on the Results slide is the only way to trigger quiz review mode. -
ITunes Summary issue...
My iTunes summary page in version 7.2 is displaying 9.68GB of my capacity being assigned to "Other"... what could this be?
I took off all my video and photos to see if there was some error.. and nothing changed...
I appropriately have about 2000 songs, but what could this other 9 GB of used space be?
Any help is really appreciated... just bought a Mac Book and want this issue resolved before I move everything over to the new toy...
Thanks in advance for any help!!!!Other can be made up of notes, contacts, album artwork, any folders you added if the iPod is enabled for disk use , the operating etc. If you don't have 9GB worth of what could be considered Other try restoring your iPod. Just be aware that restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings with iTunes 7

itunes:summary description
I recently added a description (<itunes.summary> to a previously loaded episode. I resent (pinged) my index.xml file and received a successful ping. However, my description does not show next to the episode or when I click on the i. Any ideas why?
You may also reply directly by e-mail.
Thanks.

[email protected]Thanks Roger,
I'd already had a look in Feedburner and the description under 'Title/Description burner was empty. However, you reply has made me double check and search really thoroughly. I've found the rogue text under Optimize>Smartcast.
Now my question is, if I just delete this text completely, will the itunes:summary then just correctly feed through from the original xml? This would be my desired solution so we make all our updates within the xml i.e. in one place.
If not, I can update Feedburner though.
Thanks for you help.

ITunes Sync Screen Has Changed On New Version 8.2.1
This may have been asked already. I have just upgraded iTunes to the latest version 8.2.1. I was on 8.0 previously.
My question is, I noticed that the iTunes Sync screen has changed. Now when syncing, instead of showing the screen with the check boxes (ie Use Disk Storage) and the disk usage at the bottom of the screen, it just shows my songs in a list.
Is there anyway to put this back via preferences? I heavily rely on that screen.
TIA,
TedYou have to click the device every time you connect it. Some people like this because connecting the device does not interrupt whatever they were doing in iTunes at the time. I prefer the old way though.
You can send your thoughts on this to Apple here:

Incoming texts going to old phone instead of new one.
I upgraded from iphone 4 to Nokia Lumia 928. I can call out, receive calls, and send texts on the Nokia, but all incoming text messages are still sent to my iphone. Any ideas on how to fix this? It's not real handy having to carry two phones around.

Is there a listing of error codes and what they mean?
Continually get -3150 and -3252 codes. Can't find info when I search the site. Looks like lots of other error codes. Didn't know if anyone knows where to find a list of what the codes mean...and ways to make them stop. Thanks.
