ATV not syncing any movies

For reasons unknown, when I sync my ATV all goes well except my movies won't sync. If I use the tick box for selected movies, then tick the ones I want and choose "APPLY" all I get is a quick sync and no movies transfered. If I use the tick box for "ALL" and choose "APPLY", ATV syncs only one (and always the same) movie and none of the others. BTW, that one movie is not ticked on my list.
TV shows etc. all sync properly. I have Factory re–set the ATV twice, as well as re–installed the 2.0 firmware and restarted my iMac.
Also, because of the fac reset, I lost 2 rental movies that I had not watched yet. How do I get them back w/o paying again?

Contact iTunes store support and explain to them what happened. They may be willing to authorize you to download them again or give you credits that you can use to rent them again.
Also, I'm not sure what kind of movies you're having trouble syncing, but rental movies don't sync like other content does. You can use iTunes to move a rental movie between iTunes, an ATV or an iPod/iPhone, but a rental movie can only be on one device at a time, and you can't move it once you've started watching it (it may get deleted if you try).

Converting Video for ipad use:
1-Download HandBrakeBatch app
2-Open iPhoto app and select videos to be converted
3-Drag videos to HandBreakBatch "video files" window
4-Choose "iPad" as the video format from the drop down menu
5-Choose "CONVERTED VIDEO" folder as the file destination
6-START conversion
7-When complete, add newly converted videos to iPhoto (drag folder to iphoto icon) and add them to "CONVERTED VIDEOS FOR IPAD" album.
8-Connect iPad (iTunes already knows to sync to the iPhoto album ("CONVERTED VIDEOS FOR IPAD").
I bought a new iPad Air from the Apple store in Madison, Wisconsin about a month ago. I asked how to transfer movie files from my Mac Book Pro to the iPad. It took the Genius about two hours to figure out the process. He typed the above instructions. I have not actually gone thru the above steps.

If you have an iBook G4, (PPC) you can't do much.
But if that is a MacBook (intel) you may be able to
upgrade the OS X, if the hardware is up to it...

That'd be a first step. Or even the Model number
which should be visible on the outer case by hinge.

What is the file name of the video(s) you want to sync?
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

DVD Drive will not play ANY movies

I seem to have the standard drive for the 15 inch MacBook Pro (bought less than one year ago), but it simply will not play ANY movie DVD I've tried. It whirrs and whirrs but nothing happens. I've tried multiple movies and none have worked. Yet it works fine with software cd's and loading on of new programs, and burned CDs with pictures display just fine. I checked the System info on the drive and notice that the last line - which is media - had a 'no' next to it. Is it not turned on or programmed to play movies??? If so, how do I activate it? Thanks for any help.

My MBP plays DVD and says no also, so that is not it. Sounds broken to me. Call Applecare and I do hope you paid for the 3 year Applecare. Did it EVER play DVDs?

Syncs pictures and apps. I actually found one album that will sync. Others ... nada. Can't see any difference between those files and the others.
Reset sync history, saw that in another post, to no avail.
Strangely enough, songs will sync to iPod, but not complain.

Itunes 11.4 will not sync any music

Itunes 11.4 will not sync any music to iPad 2 mini or iPhone 3GS after upgrade. I have tried a full restore and hard resets on the iPhone. I have tried multiple combinations of checking and unchecking the boxed related to transfers and automatic syncing.
I hit the sync button and only for a brief second does it appear to attempt to sync and then nothing further happens. It seems to abort with no error message. Any assistance would be appreciated or thumbs up from those with similar problems after a recent upgrade.

i'm in the same boat. setting up my iPhone 6 as a new device (as i've done numerous of times with my other iDevices). i've had zero luck on transferring my library and playlist over to my new iPhone 6. I do nothing different than what i've done before. I'm experiencing the same thing as the OP. It goes through the steps pretty quick and the storage capacity at the bottom shrinks a few GB's for my playlist i'm adding, then it reverts back to what it's currently at and does nothing, no errors.

Try rebooting your computer to see if that makes a difference. Otherwise, use the Get Info window for these games to determine where they should be located on your PC. Then navigate out to that location to see if they are actually still there.

DVD does not recognize any movies

Hi everyone.
I have just realized that I have a problem with my DVD drive. It will not play any movies.
It does recognize and play CD's, DVD's with software and even Blank DVD's, but won't display the icon of a DVD with a movie on the desktop.
I have checked the System Preferences for CDs and DVDs and I have the check mark to be displayed on my desktop. It also appears as an active drive in the System Profiler (MATSHITADVD-R UJ-857D:).
I have erased the hard drive and installed a new copy of the OS and it recognized the DVD and played the movies, but after I have installed some other software (Google Earth, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Photoshop, Quick Time Pro, DIVX, and MacFuse I get again the same problem).
It certainly has to be a problem with incompatibility with any of this software.
Could that be with MacFuse?
Does anyone have any idea of what's happening?
What can I do / suggest?

Itunes not syncing Videos/Movies

Itunes will not sync my movies, rentals, nor videos i have bought from itunes.
This is my 3rd ipod classic given to me by the apple store to "fix" the problem that has yet to be "fixed". It will sync the very first time i plug it in as in, just straight out of the package. but never again will it sync. i have tried loading it maunally but that doesnt work either. and since all the people do at the store is hand me a new one i have no other options.

I had that same problem when I tried adding the "Blue Harvest" digital copy to my itunes (family guy movie). If you have an ipod "nano," which one is it? Be sure that the iPod you are using is video capable and has enough memory to take on a movie or video. A 40~45 minute TV show eats up about 450~500mb.
I have the new square looking 3rd generation iPod, so I'll try help. What you do is make sure the cord is NOT connected to your computer yet, plug it into your ipod, then plug the other end into the USB port. It should automatically sync up. After the syncing is complete, select your ipod in the column on the left hand side of the screen. It should look like a little ipod in the column of music lists and other stuff.
Once that is selected, you should see something that has the amount of space that's on your ipod and other interesting information showing on the main menu on your itunes. If you look at the top of that, there should be a row of tabs. Click the one that says Movies/Videos (one or the other, not sure right now, but it should be obvious which tab to click).
Once that is selected, there will be two options. One will already be set, click the other one and set it up so that it syncs up your selected movies, videos, tv shows, etc...
Right after that, don't go anywhere, click on APPLY at the bottom of the screen. It should start syncing up again and that will add the movies/videos to your ipod. It may take a little while to load up, but no more than a few minutes.

The first thing we need to check is if you have a 6G Nano. If you do, you will be unable to sync videos to it as they are not compatible with the latest generation.
If it's another generation, you may want to double check your iPod's sync settings for movies/videos from under its Movies configuration tab in iTunes. See this article for more information.

Ipod was locked with password daughter forgot, had to restore ipod, now ipod will not sync any of the apps that we downloaded from itunes. Anyone know why???

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1
Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

ATV not syncing all of movies

Just purchased new macbook 2 months ago and aTV; have installed all updates including new itunes update. Everything was working fine until yesterday turned on aTV and about 1/3 of movies in itunes not showing up in aTV and will not sync. Can't figure out why. All my movies are in the same format and were working great last week (syncing/streaming). I can add new movies to itunes and they will sync/stream just fine. I also click in itunes to create aTV movie on one movie that won't sync and it says it is allready in the aTV format. All my movies play in quicktime and itunes just fine. They all sync with ipod touch and play just fine.
Any help would be great.

could be a corrupted iTunes library file... (i.e. not the folder, but the text file that has all the info about the media in iTunes)
just to get it working.. sounds like you could just go to movies in iTunes do select all (Cmd + A)... press delete (when/if asked choose.. don't move to trash) and then select all your movies in the finder and drag them back into the iTunes window again... from what you've said this will likely work too.. might try deleting one and put it back and see if that works first.
or if you wanted to start from scratch... you could actually delete the iTunes library file (it's file in the iTunes folder that holds all the info about what is in iTunes).. remove all the content in iTunes go to movies, music etc and delete everything.. remember to choose not to move to trash. then add it all back (can just grab the containing folder (iTunes folder if that's where everything is) you can take the whole folder and drop it on the iTunes window don't need to select each file.. which would take forever) and you will have a fresh, iTunes Library file.
remember if you have things stored on different drives and you don't want them in the iTunes Folder press ctrl as you are dragging and they will not be copied into the iTunes library and just a reference to their location will be noted in the iTunes library.
[edit] to see the other checkbox just open up iTunes... click music or movies.. does't matter.. look at the list of any media an to the far left of the list are checkboxes... these turn off syncing to iPod and appleTV... maybe you just didn't notice them before? but just in any list of anything has this checkbox off to the far left of the list... there is a checkbox for each piece of media.
