The issue started last night. My ATV says its syncing in iTunes but none of the updates and recent additions to iTunes are showing up on the ATV. All of my old music, movies, tv shows and photos are available but that's it. It also shows ATV is syncing in the iTunes window for hours and hours...

I had a somewhat similar problem, except that it was with my streaming computer. (My syncing computer continued to work just fine because it was still running iTunes 9.)
After updating to iTunes 10, and after running fine for a couple of days, all of a sudden my "shared" lists were not reflecting anything more recent than April 2. So, I did the "disconnect" (as has been suggested as a cure). However, when I tried to reconnect, I could not get the ATV to show up under DEVICES in iTunes 10.

ATV not syncing all of movies

Just purchased new macbook 2 months ago and aTV; have installed all updates including new itunes update. Everything was working fine until yesterday turned on aTV and about 1/3 of movies in itunes not showing up in aTV and will not sync. Can't figure out why. All my movies are in the same format and were working great last week (syncing/streaming). I can add new movies to itunes and they will sync/stream just fine. I also click in itunes to create aTV movie on one movie that won't sync and it says it is allready in the aTV format. All my movies play in quicktime and itunes just fine. They all sync with ipod touch and play just fine.
Any help would be great.

could be a corrupted iTunes library file... (i.e. not the folder, but the text file that has all the info about the media in iTunes)
just to get it working.. sounds like you could just go to movies in iTunes do select all (Cmd + A)... press delete (when/if asked choose.. don't move to trash) and then select all your movies in the finder and drag them back into the iTunes window again... from what you've said this will likely work too.. might try deleting one and put it back and see if that works first.
or if you wanted to start from scratch... you could actually delete the iTunes library file (it's file in the iTunes folder that holds all the info about what is in iTunes).. remove all the content in iTunes go to movies, music etc and delete everything.. remember to choose not to move to trash. then add it all back (can just grab the containing folder (iTunes folder if that's where everything is) you can take the whole folder and drop it on the iTunes window don't need to select each file.. which would take forever) and you will have a fresh, iTunes Library file.
remember if you have things stored on different drives and you don't want them in the iTunes Folder press ctrl as you are dragging and they will not be copied into the iTunes library and just a reference to their location will be noted in the iTunes library.
[edit] to see the other checkbox just open up iTunes... click music or movies.. does't matter.. look at the list of any media an to the far left of the list are checkboxes... these turn off syncing to iPod and appleTV... maybe you just didn't notice them before? but just in any list of anything has this checkbox off to the far left of the list... there is a checkbox for each piece of media.

ATV Not Syncing again.

I reported a similar problem earlier about syncing issues with Apple TV. This was eventually resolved by doing a clean reinstall (Combo version of OS 10.6.3). This worked well for about 2 weeks.
However the recent software upgrades of OSX 10.6.4, iTunes 9.2, Safari 5 and iPhone iOS4. All of which was carried out in that order. Has left a similar problem is that the ATV shows up in iTunes>Devices however when it tries to sync I get an error message, referring to "Firewall settings". It also gives a Port Reference 49152 which I think is associated with Fast User switching whatever that means.

The only other upgrade I carried out recently was to iGlasses for use in iChat but I cant confirm if the sync issue was affected by this.
Can anyone explain how to see and set the individual firewall port settings in OSX 10.6 as this seems to be on an application only basis?

I have done some further investigation. The Apple TV was obviously recognised by iTunes as it shows in >Devices. However it did not automatically start sync when recognised. When starting Sync from Button or by Menu it did not sync and I received the error report.
Despite being unable set Port settings in the Sharing>Firewall folder. I decided to delete and reselect only the Applications required.
This removed the AppleVNCserver set list in original question above.
My Firewall settings are now.
+Mode: Limit incoming connections to specific services and applications+
Services:
+Apple Remote Desktop: Allow all connections+
+File Sharing (AFP): Allow all connections+
+Printer Sharing: Allow all connections+

This has resolved the syncing issue for the time being. But I will monitor it for the next couple of days to ensure it is a permanent fix.

ATV not Sync'ing Photos

I have an ATV and I have been able to sync my music, movies and TV Shows with my iTunes on my PC. The photos also sync with my iTouch and iPhone but will not sync with my ATV. Any suggestions?

They all are .jpg's and are stored in My Pictures folder on my PC's HD. I have created the following hierarchy within My Pictures: My Pictures -> Year -> Month and then I have all the pictures for that month. I don't believe that any tags have been added to them that would cause any issues because they sync fine with my iTouch and iPhone. When I sync with my ATV and iTunes, iTunes just sits there for as long as I will let it trying to sync my photos with my ATV.

Contacts not syncing completely - specifically the "relationship" field.

I've got some data in the "relationship" fields on the majority of my contacts. "father", "spouse", etc... they don't show up on the iPhone but they are clearly visible in AddressBook.
Ideas?

Only certain fields are mapped for syncing. Relationship is one of the fields that is in the address book that does not exist on the iphone so it does not sync. There are other examples like anniversary in Y address book.

ATV Not Syncing or Streaming Unchecked Items.....

I'm guessing that this just started since the latest software update, but maybe I'm just noticing it now.
I have tried the automatic sync and custom sync settings, but cannot get my unchecked items to appear on my ATV any more. They will not even stream when iTunes is open.
I am having NO other issues. I have an excellent connection. It syncs new content (checked of course). YouTube works great. No problems downloading HD rentals. Etc.
Any ideas? And yes, I have rebooted both my computer and ATV.

Huh? One of us is confused.
Think about it....if unchecked items will never show up on an Apple TV anyway, why do we need an option telling it not to show unchecked items?
And managing playlists over 30GB is far too difficult of a task. That's why iPods, in addition to playlists, give you the option to sync only checked items or all items checked or unchecked. Why shouldn't an ATV give us the same option?

ATV not syncing any movies

For reasons unknown, when I sync my ATV all goes well except my movies won't sync. If I use the tick box for selected movies, then tick the ones I want and choose "APPLY" all I get is a quick sync and no movies transfered. If I use the tick box for "ALL" and choose "APPLY", ATV syncs only one (and always the same) movie and none of the others. BTW, that one movie is not ticked on my list.
TV shows etc. all sync properly. I have Factory re–set the ATV twice, as well as re–installed the 2.0 firmware and restarted my iMac.
Also, because of the fac reset, I lost 2 rental movies that I had not watched yet. How do I get them back w/o paying again?

Contact iTunes store support and explain to them what happened. They may be willing to authorize you to download them again or give you credits that you can use to rent them again.
Also, I'm not sure what kind of movies you're having trouble syncing, but rental movies don't sync like other content does. You can use iTunes to move a rental movie between iTunes, an ATV or an iPod/iPhone, but a rental movie can only be on one device at a time, and you can't move it once you've started watching it (it may get deleted if you try).

Not sure if it's any help, but I slowed my router from N to G and have managed to stabilise ATV and keep it connected and in sync.

Itunes not syncing completely w/ ipod touch

I found that some albums were displaying duplicate songs on my ipod touch, but not in Itunes. I decided to try removing all music and re-syncing. Itunes goes through steps of synching, but doesn't take nearly as long as it should to remove all the music. When I disconnect the ipod touch, some of the music is removed but not all of it. When I plug it back into my pc, Itunes sees that there is 17 GB of music. Process repeats.

I may have found the answer.
I checked each of the Apps that needed updating, and they all listed that they needed an iOS version 6 or 7 - higher than the 5.1.1 that my iPod supports.
If this is the issue, it would be nice if there was some message or indication that this was the case.

Ical not syncing completely on iphone from imac

I have mobile me and normally have no problem with my calenders updating themselves from my imac to iphone and vice versa. Lately they have not been doing it - even after I have synced them manually by attaching the iphone to the imac. Does anyone have any idea why or has anyone else had the same problem?

I have had a real problem with iCal from the moment I upgraded to iPhone 3GS - iCal now quits after a couple of minutes on my laptop (10.4.11) will not let me replace sync data from Mobile Me on either laptop or desktop (MacPro 10.5.5)
Apple tech support have not been able to help - does anyone have any ideas on why this is going on and how to fix it?

Palm Desktop Does Not sync completely

All of a sudden when I bring up the Palm Desktop only the Media and install applications are loaded. There is no calender, contacts, memos or tasks. The phone syncs as it always does. I have reinstalled Palm desktop several times and make sure I am syncing to Palm desktop and not Outlook but to no avail.
Any ideas?

On a lark, I uninstalled 6.2.2 Desktop and corresponding HotSync, cleaned the registry, erased all the associated directories, rebooted, and then downloaded 4.1.4 desktop (although I had been told it would not work with the Centro), installed it, and synced. What do you know, it worked!
I now have a desktop which remembers changes made on it, and updates to changes made on the handheld.

My iPhone will not sync completely. All of my audiobooks are only half downloaded. after the first chapter there is just silence. I've removed and reinstalled them and still the same thing.

Ive also tried to unistall them and get them directly from iTunes on the phone again and iTunes wants me to pay for them again. Very upsetting because they were not cheap to begin with like 10 bucks a pop. I'm going crazy someone please help me

HT4236 iphone 5 not syncing completely

I had an iphone 3Gs, backed everything up to my computer, plugged my new iphone 5 in to sync, and am now missing about a year's worth of photos, messages, and contacts. I've restored and re-synced several times now. What am I doing wrong??

Thanks James, however I have tried that numerous times. Even tried to restore the phone to factory settings however I am getting an error that prevents the restore. I'm starting to believe there is something wrong with the phone.

Photo Stream not syncing completely on new iPhone

Just upgraded from the 4S to the 5S. Everything transfered over fine from the backup (including the camera roll) to the new phone, but only 32 out of 229 photos have showed up in my Photo Stream.
I did some research and discovered that Photo Stream only keeps photos for 30 days and then relies on the "host" device to keep them in the Stream. But all the photos are still in my camera roll, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't also be populating into the Photo Stream.
Both my old 4S and iPad 2 Photo Streams contain all the photos. It's just the new 5S that is missing almost 200 of them.
Does anyone know why it could be doing this?

Yeah, it has been several hours. What is weird to me is that all of the pictures are back in the camera roll, but only those pictures from the last thirty days are in my Photo Stream. (But on all my other devices, all pictures are in the Photo Stream.)

Unwatched items not syncing with Apple TV (1st Gen)

Hopefully someone can help me?...
I have a 1st Gen Apple TV, Windows 7 64bit, and iTunes 11 (wishing I'd never upgraded now!)
I have it set up to Custom Sync (FILMS: Automatically include 'all unwatched' films with selected films. TV PROGRAMMES: Automatically include 'all unwatched' episodes of 'all programmes'. And not to sync anything else.)
Before, in version 10, if you made the slightest of changes (even marking something as watched then as unwatched) you could press the Apply or Sync button.
But now when I add a new Film or TV Show, or mark one as unwatched, I cannot sync it to my Apple TV.
iTunes marks it as New/Unwatched but the Apply button stays greyed out and I cannot Sync.
Any ideas welcome.

I have a similar problem. ATV1 (3.0.2), itunes 10, connected via wireless time machine (hardwired to router) + airport express wireless extender. ATV showing in itunes menu. All TV shows, movies, music etc showing on ATV (not sync'd) EXCEPT 4 episodes of one TV show that was purchased as a series on iTunes (not on the ATV).
I have also had the firewall error - intermittently.
Have rebooted iMac. Have factory reset ATV and re-set up. Tried just sync'ing the 4 episodes I want to watch. No luck. Tried marking episodes as watched. No luck. rebooted everything. Twice.
ATV1 accesses all other info on iTunes (music, movies etc).
Infuriating.
Any ideas?
