ATV stuck in perpetual sync +more!

So my iTunes has been syncing with the AppleTV for over a day and still going! If I cancel the sync and try again it does exactly the same thing. This started happening a couple of weeks ago but not every time I tried to sync at first, sometimes it would also give me a port 3689 firewall error despite there being no firewall. I have not changed anything on my network recently, it just started happening out of the blue.
Also, when I change the input source to HDMI on my TV the ATV will take a while to come up, the TV even displaying "No Input" for anything up to about 30 seconds. About 25% of the time the ATV will even restart itself showing me an Apple logo. This has been happening since the beginning with ATV 1.0. Reading some of the other posts on here I don't have much hope for this to ever be remedied.
Everything is hooked up to an 802.11g Netgear router and the AppleTV is set up to stream from the iTunes on my iMac only and nothing is ever copied over to the ATV. Everything is running the latest firmware or software, etc. and yes, I've tried rebooting everything but not a hard restore of the ATV.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

......sometimes it would also give me a port 3689 firewall error despite there being no firewall......
What about other software that could interfere with this port, file sharing and security software are good starting points. Have you checked your IPFW isn't blocking this port.
Also, when I change the input source to HDMI on my TV the ATV will take a while to come up,......
This is HDMI for you, or more correctly HDCP, not all manufacturers implement these standards in the same way and some equipment has issues with other equipment, it happens with other HDCP enabled devices too.

  • Itunes stuck at "Finishing Sync" and will not close normally on Windows 8.1

I recently upgrade to Windows 8.1 and also have the latest version of Itunes (11.1.2.32)
I have uninstalled and re installed, no change. Originally I had a problem that ITunes wouldn't open without crashing but the dll file fix resolved that.
    Now I have to issues.
1: When I sync my or my wifes Ipads and iphone 5's, The sidebar will show that it has stopped syncing but Itunes it self up top is stuck at Finishing sync. I get no error if I unplug but the status up top reads "Finishing Sync"
2:When I try to close ITunes, I receive the "There are one or more applications using the sync service" Then gives me an option to wait for Itunes to close normally after 20 seconds or Quit.
Anyone know how to resolve either or both of these questions?

I copied this from https://discussions.apple.com/message/23501949#23501949.   It fixed my problem.
    Couple of things ...
While the iPhone is actually syncing, you see something like this:
       (note the spinning "syncing" wheel)
You'll notice when it's done, it seems to be hanging and you get something like this - indefinitely:
But, if you look again, you'll see the "eject" button has replaced the "syncing wheel":
So, at this point, just eject it and you're fine -- really.
And, if you don't trust that, then do this:
Go to the Music tab of iTunes and add or remove just one song or one artist or one playlist.
Then, click the Apply button in the lower right corner.
You will notice that THIS way the Sync Process finishes cleanly.
    Hope this helps!!

  • I have an iPhone 4S, 16 GB. I'm trying to sync selected songs to my phone by clicking them and dragging them onto my device. Every song copied nicely onto there till I got up to 66. After that, I try to sync more and suddenly they won't show up on there.?

I've already read some of these discussions and tried to resolve the issue by turning off my computer and phone, and turning them back on again, and the problem still remained. I couldn't sync more than 66 songs onto it. So I continued to look up more articles and quite a few said to restore my iPhone, and so I did. I restored with a recent backup and made sure I had the latest version of iTunes installed. And so after I cleared off my phone and restored it, I went to put those songs back onto there, and once again when I got up to 66 songs, it wouldn't let me put any more on there. So I thought that was enough and decided to sign up myself on here to ask a question to the community. Anyone who's willing to give me a good answer or more possible answers, please reply to this question ASAP! Please and thank you!

Ok, sorry. And yes, I just restored my iPhone as new and tried to put all the songs on there before I even restored with my previous backup, but it still does the same thing... even when I just checked the option to sync only "selected music or videos". How's that possible?
P.S. After I tried syncing with checked songs only, nothing showed up under Music on my phone and this message popped up in iTunes: "The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish." If you could, please tell me what that means, thanks.

  • Can not sync more than one photo folder to my phone. lost all photos???

Can not sync more than one photo folder at a time from my computer to mu iPhone. How do I get the drop down box to choose my photos, so I can manually pick photo folders???? Lost all my photo folders on phone.

Create a parent folder on your computer to contain the folders of photos you want transferred to your iPhone. Select the parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. To add an additional folder of photos to your iPhone, place the folder of photos in the parent folder followed by a sync.

  • TS4123 This is not correct solution. I have fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.  Autorun only shows the Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone.

This is not correct solution. I have fresh/new copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.
Autorun only shows the Apple Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone over WiFi. I have two iphones and an iPad. I turned off syncing over WiFi and still has high CPU utilization. One of the CPU's is pegged at 100%.  It is the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart.  Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem.  Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant.  I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.

Just plug in the second iPhone like you did the first and tell it what to sync to and you'll be good to go (just make sure the second iPhone is named something different than the first!)

  • Should be able to sync more than one project at a time

We should be able to use the shift key or the command key to sync more than one project at a time. This goes for the "content" pane as well as the "folders" pane.

  • ITunes not syncing more than 1 song at a time with SLVR

I need some help with Itunes and syncing it to my son's Motorola SLVR L7. It seems that if I try to sync more than 1 song at a time, it fails out saying that it can not find file. I can sync one song at a time, but I have to disconnect and reconnect the phone each time. It would take forever to do 100 songs. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
I also have 2 iphones, v1 and have not problems with them.
    Thanks for the help.
    Ron

Yes.  Click the first track, and hold CTRL while you click additional tracks.  Then hit Delete.
(If the tracks you want to highlight are in a row, click the first, hold Shift and click the last.)
