ATV sync keeps looking for long-deleted podcasts

Everytime I sync my aTV with my iTunes library, it attempts to sync long-deleted podcasts, 18 of them from 2007. I then get the inevitable "problem" pop-up regarding how such-and-such file was not sync'ed because it could not be found.
My iTunes currently deletes old podcasts automatically, i.e. the preferences are set to keep the 10 most recent. And I don't get the above sync problem with any of my iPods. So I am at a loss as to why this is happening now with (and only with) my aTV.
Thanks

i have the same problem, even telling me that it cant sync from long deleted podcast threads... so annoying.

    Hi.
I had a similar problem myself. This is what helped me.
I went to the App store app, scrolled to the bottom, logged out of the account, re logged in with my Apple ID.  Then went back to app updates. Once I put in my ID password all was fine.

  • HT1338 My Mac keeps Looking for Networks? The ICON in menu when clicked shows the WI- FI (in gray) ON then goes to Looking for Network again. Shutting down the connection.

My MAC keeps looking for networks? The ICON in menu bar when clicked shows the WI-FI (in grey) it keeps shuting off and disconnecting. Any Ideas???

Test after taking each of the following steps. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
    3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    4. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    6. In some cases, the problem has been resolved by repairing permissions on the startup volume.
    7. Reinstall OS X.

ccan't restore from time capsule to new hard drive, after changing to new HD, after calculating required space to restore it keeps looking for disks! Have have put original OS X  install disk 1 in it won't Eject , any help

The very best way to do this is with ethernet to the existing router. Put the TC in bridge mode manually.
Then plug it in to existing router.. we recommend LAN router to WAN on the TC but even that is not 100% necessary.
If you want to link by wireless, to a non-apple router that is bad.. recommend strongly against it. Join a wireless network is super slow.
If you have a desktop Mac you can plug it directly into the Mac by ethernet.
But we need to know how the Mac is connected to internet.
I have given some info on one layout here.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4817218?tstart=30
If you end up relying on an old TC. And any of the models from Gen1-3.. and increasingly Gen4 have all reached EOL.. they can die suddenly and either take your files with them or be hard to recover. Also a TC is slow cf a USB external drive even, which is more reliable. Considering a 2TB is <$100 I would be careful using an old TC simply because you got it free.

System keeps looking for a 'server' that does not exist. Is says the old name of my Airport Extreme. Clicking it away (4x) finally  gets through.

Other weirdness to report: my neighbor upstairs appears to have a Linksys router network on channel 6. My AEBS is on channel 1 so there shouldn't be interference... but according to iStumbler sometimes the signal leaps to 64000 (keep in mind my own Airport never tops 60)! Is that potentially the problem?
Might it be possible that your neighbor just acquired a 802.11n (pre-N) wireless router recently?
802.11n effectively increases capacity by doubling the number of Wi-Fi radios and increasing the number of antennas used to push signals out of those radios. 802.11n splits a data frame into multiple pieces. It then transmits these pieces in parallel using multiple radios that are attached to multiple antennas. These antennas blast out signals from virtually the same vantage point – scattering the signals everywhere.
You may find the following ZDNet article interesting: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=247
Even if he did not, and you are on good terms, you might want to ask if he can temporarily turn off his wireless, or, at least, reduce the signal strength to see if that will help in your situation.

  • Since lion upgrade iMac keeps looking for old server

    Hi,
I have a NAS prior to Lion upgrade which was working perfectly. Now with the Lion upgrade the NAS (Sitecom) ther were some issues. I have reinstalled the NAs and had given it a new name. I can find the NAs now so thats not a problem.
But almost every hour I get 2 warning that he can not find the "old NAS", it really start annoying me and I've looked everywhere and I don't even find any link (Finder) towards it so I don't know what to do to get rid of this message, receiving it every hour twice really start getting on my nerves.
    Sorry for th Dutch, but the message translates;
A problem has occured with connecting to the server 'VanBeeckNAS'
The server doesn't exist or is currently not available. Check the servername or the IP-address of the server, ...
    Any help is highly appreciated.

Same problem since lion. Not only can I not back up to the server it keeps looking for it several times on start up. Real annoying.

  • Macbook air keeps 'looking for networks'

My Macbook Air keeps 'looking for networks', and the upload speeds are slow -- should be 50 plus, are 25-30 mps.
Upstairs, my iMac gets 60mps upload and 30 mps download.  So Verizon is providing what they promise, its just
that the MacBook Air seems to have a bit of a problem.
Verizon has done what they could to tweek the system, and it make make a small improvement -- from 20 to the 25-30 mps.
The tech suggested, politely, it was time to talk to Apple, and I will make a Genius appt.
But I was wondering if other with MacBook Airs had had this problem of the computer constantly 'searching for netsworks'.
    Thanks,
    Hal

Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced then select the Wi-Fi tab.
Drag your network to the top of the list.
Select:  Remember networks this computer has joined
    Click OK.
Keep in mind, everytime you click the AirPort icon in the status menu bar, it will automatically "look" for networks.

Although I'm connected to my Wi-Fi network my computer keeps "looking for new networks." How can I stop it from doing so when I'm working at home and don't want another network?

    You might want to update Safari to 3.12. I would empty the safari cache. (Safari>Empty Cache). Then quit Safari. System Preferences>Network>Show:Airport>TCP/IP. Insert the following into the DNS Servers box;
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
then hit apply. Now launch Safari. You should also try powering down modem, router and Mac and power up in 2 minute sequence; modem, router, Mac.

Do I have to start the backup for the Macair as a new backup?

That happened to my brother earlier. He went into Facebooand then into another app and the same thing happened. he ended up having to restore it. • Laptop keeps looking for previous migration machine at start up

Every time I start my machine it keeps looking for my previous laptop which was used to migrate my information. This slows the start up down considerably. It seems to think that this is a server I want to connect to by default and says it is not, understandably, available.
Is there any way to stop this? Thanks

I started in Safe Mode and the problem didn't happen, which was good. However when I returned to normal mode it was back again. I have a Time Capsule which mounts whenever I start up so I also tried starting in normal mode without the wi-fi on to take this out of the equation, but again the machine was still looking for the missing machine.
Since it will startup in safe mode, that tells you that there is some third party software that is attempting to startup in normal that is causing the problem. So now that you know that, you are going to have to start looking at what third party software is causing your problems.

  • Sync not working for long time (have tried all the usual suggestions)

Sync stopped working for me months ago and I have not been able to get it to work again.
I'm using Firefox 26 on two different Linux laptops and want to keep the bookmarks and history synced with them. It worked great for a long time. Then around Firefox 25 or so it stopped working. In fact, I logged into an old Linux system I hadn't used in while that still runs Firefox 24 (or maybe it's 23) the other day and it synced great with my laptop I usually use.
I have tried all the suggestsion in the troubleshooting guide (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-sync-troubleshooting-and-tips). I tried unlinking all of my devices and linking them again. That worked to sync both laptops once, when I first relinked them, but never again. I tried creating entirely new profiles on both systems and that didn't help.
Is Sync just broken? Why does it continue to work fine in older version of Firefox but none of the last three versions or so? Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the replies.
I am not using a proxy server.
Neither system is syncing with the other. It seems like they are both uploading (backing up) the history and bookmarks properly, but then not merging and syncing the changes from the other system. I know things are getting uploaded, because as I said, my third system that I don't use much anymore, with the older version of Firefox, does merge changes in history and bookmarks from the other two systems.

  • IPhone 4s will not wi-fi synch.  Keeps "Looking for (my name's) iMac.

Currently have an iPhone 4S which will not wi-fi synch to iTunes on my iMac.
    My situation is as follows:
    -  iMac running OS 10.7.2 connected to a Time Capsule
    -  iTunes 10.5
    -  I have enabled/applied wi-fi synch in iTunes
    -  The iphone will synch via USB
    -  When I disconnect the iPhone from the computer and connect it to a power source, the device disappears from iTunes
    -  When I select "Synch Now" on my iPhone, I get the spinning wheel as my iPhone is "Looking for (My Name's) iMac".  The device never shows up in iTunes.  This occurs for several seconds and then stops.
    -  End result, is that my iPhone never wi-fi synchs.
What am I missing?  Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Bruce

Came home from work, woke computer from sleep and started iTune.  iPhone "Sync Now" button went from grey to black.  When I pressed the "Sync Now" button, the same symptoms as I described above occurred.
I then tried to sync by going to iTunes>File>Sync (my name's) iPhone.  iTunes found my phone, my phone showed up under "Devices" and the wi-fi sync was successful.
Everything appeared to be working, so I turned off iTunes and allowed my computer to go to sleep.
After a period of time, I woke my computer from sleep and restarted iTunes to see if wi-fi synch still worked. NOPE, not at first.  The "Sync Now" button immediately went from grey to black as before, but, my iPhone was no longer listed under "Devices" and my iPhone would not sync when the "Sync Now" button was pressed.  However, after iTunes was open about a minute or so, my iPhone showed up and wi-fi sync worked again.
Sooooooooo......basically wi-fi sync appears to be a waste of time.  I fail to see the functionality of it unless you never allow your computer to sleep and you keep iTunes running all the time. It just takes way too long for iTunes to finally find my phone after waking my computer from sleep and starting iTunes. It was much faster by hooking up the old way!  All this just to perform a manual sync!
Auto syncing is a not even an option if you allow your computer to sleep and iTunes is off.
Is this how it is supposed to work?  Anyone else?  Am I wrong?

  • Exchange 2013 in coexistence with 2010, Outlook keep looking for Exchange 2010 server slow connection

    All,
not sure if this topic has already answered, but can't find anything around.
Here's the scenario. Migrating from a single Exchange 2010 to a cluster of 2 + 1 Exchange 2013. Two in a site, One in the other site (DC).
I have migrated successfully a firsat batch of users. Mail flow works perfectly. The only thing is that often the migrated users are experiencing a long time (about 30 minutes) to get their Outlook syncronized. Both OL 2010 and 2013 doesn't make any difference.
They're using OL Anywhere, and I've already tried to rebuild the profile.
From a check on the OL connection status, looks like they're still looking for something on EX2010, but no idea what could be. If I disable the cache mode it works smooth and quick.
My best guess is that is something in cache they're trying to keep updated... but still this doesn't explain the huge delay.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi Alessandro,
What happens in OWA? I guess it should be good.
Did you have public folders with Exchange 2010? Were they moved over to Exch 2013? Technically you should move the PF to the latest version from the legacy version before moving over the users?
    - Moved the PF to OL2013. same behaviour
May be the outlook clients are looking for th OAB? Did you move the OAB to Exchange 2013?
    - Did this too.
Try running outlook on safe mode and see what happens? may be one of the outlook add-in's are looking for something on Exchange 2010?
    - Will try that....
Can you do a Test Email Auto Configuration in outlook (Hold CNTRL key and right click on outlook icon on status bar) and see if the exchange url's are pointed to Exch 2013?
    - Will try that....
Is this happening to all migrated users or specific? Are they BlackBerry users?
    - All users and there are no BB users
Do you have any archived emails on those migrated users? May be outlook is looking for some archived stuff on the Exch 2010 side?
    - I instructed Exchange to migrate also the archiving database, however There are no archived mailbox on 2010
Could this be because of any calendar entries? May be migrated user mailboxes are having issues with working with non-migrated mailbox calendars?
    - This maybe a possibility. I have only 10 users actively using Exchange, while all others have the mailboxes only because they've Lync. I've completed all migrations today, so there shouldn't be anything left on 2010
Let me know how it went - all the best!
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. Regards, Siva
