ATV syncs itunes (some) playlists with songs in reverse

I just installed my new Apple TV and sync'd to my itunes collection.
Unfortunately, some playlists show up on the ATV with the songs in completely reversed order. My playlists are complete operas which need to be heard in their native seaquential order (no use having Butterfly die at the begining of the opera!). The playlist on my PC still show the correct order, but the ATV has them reversed. Anyone have an idea for a fix? thx!

right click on the playlists in itunes and choose "copy to play order".
re-sync the appletv and they should now show correctly.

I've created playlists with songs I've purchased from iTunes and also added songs I've purchased from iTunes to existing playlists.  Everytime I go to sync the playlist to my iPhone I find some of the new songs missing from the playlist.  I've deleted the playlist from the phone and reinstalled it.  I don't know what I"m doing wrong. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

I cannot sync my whole playlist. Keep having songs greyed out in "on this phone" with dotted circle next to them. Tried restarting phone and itunes. Also tried syncing songs out of the phone and re-syncing them back on with no success. I really do not want to reset the whole phone. Please help.

To clarify, I meant to say, when I plug my phone into my computer and connect to ITunes.

  • Will iTunes Match work with songs purchased from multiple Apple IDs?

My parents have an iTunes library with about 10,000 songs on it.  It's basically one big mesh of my family's purchases from over the years, using multiple Apple ID's and some of which I don't even recognize and/or remember.  It's become very problematic now that my mother wants me to get a lot of the music "out of the guts of the computer" so she can listen to them on her iPhone and iPad.
I'm assuming iTunes Match is the solution, but I just want to be sure that the "match" part pertains not only to purchases from outside sources, but also purchases from other Apple ID's as well.  I won't have to do the whole "authorize this computer" stuff, right?  Like I said, some of the songs were purchased using old ID's that we don't have access to anymore.  Also, if I sign up my mom for an iTunes Match account, and she wants to play songs that I purchased using my own Apple ID, that's not going to change *my* account or authorizations in any way, is it?

    Hi Rubberbucket,
The music information for iTunes Match is obtained from the user's iTunes music library and does not depend on the Apple ID under which the music was purchased from the iTunes Store. See this article -

  • Sometimes iTunes burns CDs with song title info on them, sometimes not

When I burn a CD in iTunes, sometimes the song titles and other info seems to transfer onto the CD so that when I put it back in the disc drive the titles and artists show up on the iTunes track listing of the CD, other times it seems they don't transfer onto the CD so that when I put it back in the disc drive iTunes first tries to get the track info from theCDDB and then just lists the tracks on the CD as Track 1, Track 2, etc. Is there any way to assure iTunes consistently transfers the song titles & other info onto the CDs it burns, so that when I play those CDs in other machines that can display this info, the info is there for it to read?

iTunes recently added the option of embedding CD Text into audio CDs (although the option is disabled by default). If you’ve enabled this feature, it’s likely that your car’s CD player is reading that. I don’t believe that iTunes is enabled to get track info from CD Text. It's possible to harvest track names from CD Text on a Mac with AppleScript. I’m sure it’s possible on a PC as well, although I’m not sure how.
iTunes remembers audio CDs that you've burned and stores their track lists in your library file, so if you burn a CD, then re-insert it in your computer later, it should remember the track names. If you’ve replaced your library file, or the CD in question was burned on a different computer, then iTunes will have no record of having burned the disc, hence no track names.
    Hope that helps.

  • Atv not showing some albums or songs in artist view

when i look up artist on apple tv some albums or songs dont show up, if i look up the songs they are there.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
Tunes that are marked as compilations are listed by compilation rather than artist. If you'd rather they show up under artist, go to 'get info' in itunes and uncheck the 'part of compilation' checkbox.

  • When I download a CD to iTunes, some of the songs go into different folders. How do I move them to the original CD?

When I import a CD into my iTunes, if there are songs by multiple artists they appear in different folders. Can I prevent this from happening or can I fix it afterwards?

Quick answer:  Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.

  • New iTunes doesn't let me fill a new playlist with songs off an iPod

THIS USED TO WORK ON OLDER VERSIONS OF ITUNES. I own an ipod Shuffle. Sometimes iTunes Autofills my Shuffle with a cool mix of songs from my iTunes library. I want to make that new set of songs into a new playlist in my iTunes. I used to be able to do this by simply: (1) create a new playlist in iTunes, (2) select all the songs on my Shuffle, (3) drag the songs from my Shuffle on to the new playlist's icon.
Sometimes, I won't use the Autofill feature and I will manually drop songs from my Library into my Shuffle. I'll drop a couple songs on to my Shuffle each day. Over the course of a month, I will have slowly built up a set of songs of all my current favorites on my ipod shuffle. Well, of course, I'd like to make all those songs on my Shuffle into a new playlist in iTunes, so I can "preserve" the set of songs I spent weeks building up. Again, I used to be able to do this very easily, but for some reason, in the latest version of iTunes, I can not drag and drop songs from my Shuffle into a playlist.
Let me make clear, I own all this music and all the songs on my Shuffle are already in my Library on my Macbook. This is a matter of creating PLAYLISTS from whatever songs are on my Shuffle at any given time. PLEASE BRING BACK THIS CAPABILITY.

Turn your phone off, then force it into recovery mode & restore it:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • How Can I sync iTunes album artwork with album folders on my Mac

    Small Issue,
I just got a new macbook pro and uploaded copied the iTunes music folder from my PC, to an external hard drive then to the "music" folder in the Finder on my Mac.  I then went into iTunes and added my library via the "add music" link (or something like that)
All the music upload and most of the album artwork was missing.  I clicked "Get Album Artwork" and it replaced most of the album artwork
Here is the issue I need help with...
Some of the albums, which have album artwork inside iTunes, do not have album artwork if I go to the album folder in the finder.  Is there anyway to get this artwork to sync up with the folder?
I ask because, I am kinda anal and like the artwork to show up if I play a song from the spotlight (I like playing music that way)
Am I going to have to manually add the album artwork into the finder folders?

  • How do I sync only specific playlists with iCloud?

When I used to sync my iPhone & iPods to my iMac, I could easily select specific playlists to sync. However, since I "upgraded" to the iCloud music service, I don't see any way to exclude playlists from the sync. Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Ken

Thanks Michael.  I switched from manual sync, and selected sync only checked songs, while at the same time unchecking certain playlists in iTunes.  I don't know if that's the best way or not, but it worked for me.
Your tip on how to check and uncheck songs in large groups was really helpful, because I have multiple ipods to sync, and I want these playlists on some of them, so that makes it pretty easy to update checked and unchecked songs as needed.  Thanks.

  • Syncing itunes music library with my ipod nano

I set up my new ipod this weekend. All music in my library synced fine. However, I added new songs to one of my play lists, when I went to sync to get the new tunes on my ipod, I chose that playlist. It deleted all other music and only loaded that playlist.
Also, I went to clean out my itunes music library and when I hit delete, it said that the next time I synced my nano, it would remove all songs not in music library
    Two questions...
    1. Do I have to check all playlists every time I upload new songs
    2. I don't want to keep all the songs I already have in my ipod on my computer. Do I have to keep all songs in my music library in order to avoid songs being deleted when I sync with my ipod or is there a way to only add new songs

    Hi Ricehouse;
You have posted your questions on iTune and iPods in the forum for OS 9. I would suggest that you report either over in the iTune or iPod forums for Windows. There will be more people there that can help you.

  • Syncing large library & playlists with 4GB ipod

I have a 4GB ipod that I manually manage because my iTunes library is too big. I haven't synced since January (when I got a new ipod). I used to be able to drag on-the-go playlists to iTunes without problem and now I can't. Did they get rid of that capability in the new iTunes releases? I can't do auto-sync due to size. Is there no other way to get on-the-go lists back to iTunes when I HAVE to manually manage.

is it normal to have challenges based on the configuration I've described?
well, my library weighs in @ 1.5 TB. i have two identical firewire 800 drives (one main, one backup) hanging off my mini. when i initially cloned HD no. 1 to HD no. 2 using CCC, it took in excess of 12 hours.
if you're syncing large amounts of data via your network (especially if you use wireless, which is not very reliable for such a job), yes, i would expect to expect such challenges.
have you tried if a wired connection improves things ?
any specific experience with the suggested software downloads?
personally, i use *home sharing* so, no, i don't have first hand experiences with those apps.

  • How to convert and replace itunes m4a playlist with mp3 playlist

In Itunes, I want to convert a playlist of 200 songs from m4a to mp4 but don't want to have to struggle with creating the new playlist (ie, making a list of the songs and finding them in the library and dragging them into the new replacement playlist) or deleting the old m4a songs from the library (finding them and deleting them either by hunting them down or identifying the m4a duplicates and deleting them).
I know I can convert them en masse within itunes but then I've got to hunt them down in the library to recreate the new playlist and delete the old m4as.
I can't seem to come up with a smooth way of doing that.  I thought I could drag them from itunes to my desktop, or even to a flash drive, but when I drag them back into itunes they don't come back in as mp3s but remain m4as (I did set the preferences import settings to mp3 so I don't know why that aspect doesn't work for me).
Any suggestions for how to do this efficiently would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, and thanks again for your input.  I will do whatever works.  Conversion works fine to convert, but then I have to hunt down each of the 200 newly converted songs to recreate the playlist of mp3s, and then hunt down each of the old files in the library to delete them.
So I tried to figure out another way to do it.  It occured to me that if I exported the songs and then re-imported them, then they would be imported as mp3s due to the preference setting in Itunes, but I can't make that happen (they come back in as m4a).  If I could, I thought I could just import (drag them in) to a new playlist and then I could delete the old playlist - allthough the problem then would be that the old playlist songs would still be in the library, but I think I read where I could do something like option delete (from within the old playlist) to actually remove the files from the library.  Then I wouldn't have to hunt for the old songs.
My ignorance is due to my not using the proper terminology.  I just saw the suffix is mp3 so I figured people would know what I meant.  Same for m4a which probably also has a more correct term than that.
Thanks for the reference to Doug's scripts - there's a lot of them there. If I can find a way to contact Doug, I will ask him if he has a script that will do it.
