ATV to Home Theatre Connection Problem

Just bought Apple TV. It only has the optical audio option. My home theatre receiver only has the red-white cable audio jacks. I have 3 HDMI cables going into my TV, 1) Comcast Cable, 2) the Sony Home Theatre and the 3) ATV. How can I get ATV HOOKED INTO my Home Theatre system? I saw an ATV diagram online with the audio jacks, but I don't have that one. Anyone know what options I have if any?

Yes, it has one HDMI cable that is an output to the TV. So, I will go to Best Buy and ask for the DAC. I'm assuming the optical connection runs into it and the analog red-white cables come out?
I looked since this note and my new Mitsubisha HD TV has a digital out jack and I'm wondering if that would channel my audio back up to my Home Theatre system if there is a convertor for that audio output. I relaly appreaciate your help on this.

I set up a 2 unit home net with a Linksys WRT54G Router, One PC hardwired to Port 1 and a Notebook conected via the wireless port. Both PC are Pentium and WXPPRO.
When I try to browse the local workgroup ("MICASA") I get the following error message: "You have no access to "WorkGroup". You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The server list for this workgroup is not accessible at this moment."
Wireless has MAC filter enabled and security disabled
I restricted DHCP adresses to only 2 => 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101
Win XP Pro Firewall is disabled in both PC
I worked as ADMIN with proper password in both boxes. Full file security enabled.
Shared both C disks with proper local and share permits.
In registry both PCs have: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa/"restrictanonimous"=0
I could see both PCs in "my network places" for a couple of days, with full and proper file sharing, and then both pc's dissapeared. Both PC's access internet properly.
The obnoxious message listed at the beginning began appearing when I click "Workgroup" in "my network places". I tried everything, including unsetting and re-setting file sharing for C disks. Nothing happens.
The W2K Resource Kit Browser Monitor reports no brouser on the LAN.
I can ping one adress from the other and I can log onto the other box shares by typing the name in Windows Explorer (\\Pentium or \\PCdeLidia)

I checked the Node setting (ipconfig /all) and it is "broadcast".
So, I decided to start all over again.
1) I un-shared all shares in both computers (The notebook and the desktop).
2) I reset the linksys router and used the Linksys setup wizard to reconfigure it from 0 (cero) - dropped (disabled) ALL security - Left only admin setup password - Changed the workgroup SSID from "MyHome" To "Home" - just to be sure.
3) Run network setup wizard in desktop (WXP Pro). Sharing Printers and files enabled.
4) Stopped and Disabled the WXP firewall in the Desktop (it was disabled, but the network wizard enables it and leaves it running)
5) Rebooted the Desktop
6) At this point, I finally could browse the local lan and see my desktop listed
  My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "Pentium" (my desktop)
7) Went over to the notebook and re-checked all file-sharing was off, then I erased the WI-FI profile in it (uses the Intel wizard), changed the workgroup name from "My Home" to "Home", Rebooted it and connected it to the Wi-Fi "Home" net that was detected. ALL security disabled, including WXP Firewall.
8) Now, the whole net is visible from both PC's
  My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "Pentium" (my desktop)
  My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "PCdeLidia" (my wife's notebook)
9) I enabled a couple of shares in both machines and I could browse them and connect to them
10) Finally, all goes to hell: I shut-off both PCs and the LinkSys router. Then I powered the linksys, and then the Desktop. The notebook still OFF. And Voilá, same awful post:
"You have no access to "WorkGroup". You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The server list for this workgroup is not accessible at this moment."
I'm not even able to see myself.
One tip: I used the browser monitor from W2K. Before, I was able to see 3 (three) lines listed, no browser. Unfortunately, i did not write it down. Now I can see only the following 2 (two) lines:
MiCasa \Device\NetBT_TCPIP_ {€ unknown (Not an Euro sign, something like that)
MiCasa \Device\NwlnkNb         unknown
Now I have to quit, no more time, I'll continue later and keep you posted

Home theatre connect dts-6

Does anybody know if the home theatre connect?dts - 60?has better sound compared to analog imputs? I'm thinking of buying it for the sound.

It offers the convenience of deli'vering 6 discrete channels over a single cable, however since DTS is a lossy compression scheme it cannot offer better quality, actually it will introduce artifacts (almost undetectable if you are not expecting them and you haven't listened to the uncompressed audio). Unless?your receiver?doesn't?have analog inputs go for the HT cable, it's cheaper, you can expand to 8 channels?and if you don't run into electrical issues (such as a ground loop) it will degrade less the sound than?the compression.

Airport Express: Snow Leopard 10.6.3 / Vista Home Premium / connect problem

I have Snow Leopard 10.6.3 running on my Mac Pro, and I have an Airport Express for the little wireless network I am trying to set up....
...I can get my iPhone to connect - that was easy!
The problem:
My girlfriend is running Vista Home Premium on her HP laptop. She cannot connect to my network:
a) actually it comes up on her computer as being "connected to an unidentified network"
and
b) she continues to get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when she tries to connect to the internet.
Any ideas?
1) Is there a connection problem between Vista and Airport Express / Snow Leopard?
2) Anything special I need to do to let a Windows (or Vista specifically) computer connect?

Possible risks after someone cracked the password and connects to your Wifi:
- Someone could sniff passwords when the password is transmitted in plain text (e.g. check for mails with POP)
- Someone could access shares that are not password protected
- Illegal use of your internet connection
But I don't know how likely that is. Your decision.
However, we now identified the Windows Vista Wifi settings as the source of the problem.
You can now play around with the different encryption settings in the AX and identify when Vista starts to not connect.
I now remember that I had to add the Wifi settings to Vista manually for WPA2 Personal (WPK) as the system messed it up when I connected with a click and provided the password. So if you want to try WPA2 delete the profile in Vista, probably restart and then add all the Wifi settings manually instead of clicking on an identified network. Vista is definitely able to use WPA2, so there should be no need to toggle between WPA2 and WEP once you configured Vista correctly.

Home Phone Connect problem

We have been using Verizon's Home Phone Connect for a couple of months now and we have had a problem since day one. We have talked to tech support twice and they confirmed the problem and said they would put in a trouble ticket and have a tier-2 tech call us back. We have never gotten a call back so I thought I would try here.
When someone calls us the caller hears 3 rings before our house phone rings once. Since we answer on the second or third ring that means the caller hears 5 or 6 rings before we answer. Most callers hang up before we get to the phone.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Best advice is to do the following:
Place the Home Phone Connect unit close to a window in your home OR any other spot where you get good/great cell strength on your cell phone.
Double check the antenna on the back of the Home Phone Connect unit is screwed on securely.
Make sure the Home Phone Connect unit is plugged into a power outlet. NOTE: DO NOT PLUG HOME PHONE CONNECT INTO A WALL PHONE JACK.
If your cordless home phone equipment is more than five years old, I would consider replacing it. Newer equipment may solve a lot of voice quality issues that are inherent in older equipment being used on a digital network.

Sony HT-SS2300 Home Theatre System Problem w/Video signal on TV Monitior

My Panasonic HD/Plasma TV will not pick up the HDMI video signal coming from the home theatre system. The TV monitor picture blinks in and out. I have a Comcast HD box (Motorola) What do I need to do to fix. I had the HDMI cable from the Motorola box to the HDMI Sat In connection. I then ran a HDMI out connection from the Home Theatre system to the TV HDMI in. Is ther a work around?
I also purchased a Samsung blue ray disc player. Can I still use the HDMI connection to the Home Theatre system from the Blue Ray HDMI and the the HDMI out to the HDMI input to the TV? This is getting confusing?

Ok I feel your collective pain, really. We have apple tv 2 with optical out to amp and hdmi into the tv. My wife and I both have iPads, iPhones, Mac book pro etc. sometimes the volume control would be on apple remote (at bottom, left to right slider) and we would be punching the air saying how much we love this technology. And then.......often the volume control would disappear then we couldn't get it working at all today. I have just gone through all our devices and changed the apple user name and password to my wife's user name on iTunes.....BANG.....everything is working perfect now. We have each others iTunes and apple tv now on all remotes WITH volume control. This would explain why it was so intermittent. Try this and see if it makes a difference. Even if you have a device, say iPad, that you didn't think you would use as a remote, make sure you put in the same apple I'd and password across all devices. To change it on iPad go to settings then music or iPod on ipad1 and use the same username.

Apple TV Home Sharing Connection Problem .

I have been given an Apple Tv by a friend who has upgraded. However I cannot connect to Home Sharing because I am asked to log in using his ID which does not match my Apple account details. How do I correct this? Grateful for advice.

Try "Settings","General", "Reset". It will take about 5 minutes all up. When done, it will for ask all your details for setting up. Don't forget to check the region setting for your area.

Folgende Meldung, seit dem heute Realtek Treiber Update erhalten hat.:
dolby home theater Derzeit ist Version 7.2.8000.17 des Dolby-Audiotreibers installiert. Die Software benötigt jedoch Version 7.2.7000.7 des Treibers. Installieren Sie eine funktionierende Kombination von Treiber und Software.
Was sol ich jetzt nun machen? Meldung erscheint immer wieder.

Home wifi connection problem

For some reason over the last few days my macbook won't connect to my home wifi.
It keeps asking for the password and when entered just shows the connection time out message , the password hasn't changed on the router or anything , i think there was a software update last week sometime and i'm pretty sure it only started happening after this .
Any ideas ????

I am also having issues connecting to my home wireless, even though other wireless networks in the area can be connected to and no other computer in my house has trouble. I tried restarting the router box but the Apple still won't work. Then I had the horror of disconnecting my apple from the charger (to get it closer to the router) and the computer shutting down in the middle of a backup
BTW, do you have a 2WIRE too? Maybe that has something to do with it.

Home network connection Problem.

Help...my note-book ceased automatically connecting to my home network , i've ticked remember this network etc. but obviously i have to manually reconnect each time i open my n/b, my only solution is to give it a glass of wine like my old windows laptop , but it's a Mac and if some-one could that would be awesome and i could drink the wine instead, sincere thanks Matt.

With WPA connections there could be many things effecting this from working on the iPhone. The easiest way to go about it is try changing the password to something that is 8 characters long and see if that will make a difference. It could be a issue that the password is not long enough or too long.
Another thing that you can try is connect with 128bit WEP and see if it gives you the same issue?

Home hub connection problem

Hi, please help , i have installed a BT home hub at my mothers house she has two phone extentions , one of these extentions has a care call device on . I cannot get the home hub to connect to the internet , I have put filters in the main incoming box and also on both extentions and one between the phone and the care call box, and i still cannot get a connection - please help I am going out of my mind with the stree of it . thank you.

BT Home Hub Connectivity problems

My HH is working fine on WiFi, but I want to change some settings.
When I type http://192.168.1.254 into my Browser it just hangs, saying "connnecting" (have tried Firefox and Chrome with no success).
Have managed to access in past so not sure what happening (IP conflict?).
Any help much appreciated.

Home theatre connections

We want to connect hdmi cable to av receiver and ALSO connect componet video cables directly to hdtv so that we do not have to use av receiver at all times when watching tv. Is it possible to use both out-put solutions on Motorola model QIP 6416-1?

I've done that, it works.
Alternately, have you considered using a 1x2 HDMI splitter -or- would using the digital coax audio output from the STB into the av receiver be sufficient for your needs such that you don't send video over to the receive at all?
