ATV will not update movie library

Hello I just purchased  an atv model md199x/a
Running software version 6.0.2 which it says is the latest if I try and update.
The problem: I used home sharing so I could view all my movies that I have in one folder on my computer (win7 / latest version of itunes).
Everything went fine...itunes created the library...and I can view my movies on atv...but when I put new movies into my folder itunes wont update the list...no matter what I try itunes cannot see the new movie after I add a new folder or add a new file...they dont even appear in my home movies.
How on earth can I get the library to update???
Thanks.
Luke

I have already added the folder to the Library...
And as I just said you can not do that.  You have to add the new movies to iTunes.  You can not add folders and have them be watched.
on the ATV called 'Home Movies',
Change the content options type to Movies.
I tried 'dragging' the new file into 'Home videos' and 'list' within itunes
So now maybe try doing what I actually said and drag them to the iTunes library.  Not a list, not an album.  To the library.

  • My ATV will not update

My Apple TV will not update. It continues to prompt for an update and fails. What do I do?

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.

  • Ipod Will not Update movies or playlists

I just got a new pc. Installed the latest itunes, used idump to move all my songs and movies to my new pc (created playlists manually), loaded them into itunes. Updated my ipod; all the music transfered on fine. But, I can't seem to get my movies and playlists to go on.
I decided to click my little ipod icon on the left hand side of the itunes screen. I then noticed that for some reason my ipod was set to not sync movies. I clicked it to sync, tried to hit apply... but itunes starts to update, my ipod never starts to update (never shows the 'DO NOT DISCONNECT'), and I get an error that says "-50 can't update ipod". Any ideas?

Do you have iTunes 7? If not try downloading it. Then plug your iPod in, go to the iPod summary and you will see an update button. Click it and it should download the latest update. And i don't think the restore button updates the ipod, just sets the iPod to all the setting that it was on when you first got it. (not sure someone might need to clarify this)

  • ATV WILL NOT sync movies or TV shows

I've seen threads that talk around this, but never this exact problem. I had 2 TV shows and 1 movie on iTunes synced to ATV. I purchased another movie 2 weeks ago, and when I tried to sync, it says it is doing it, but the indicator never moves, and it quits after awhile. I have de-authorized and re-authorized my iTunes account, re-established my connection with ATV with a new passcode, and even completely reset ATV. I am able to sync all music on iTunes and all iPhoto photos. I have access to Flicker and You Tube. I am using an iMac G5 Power PC running 10.4.11. The ATV communicates over my wireless Airport Extreme network. Any thoughts? I think I've tried almost everything!!

I am also having this problem. TV shows seem to be ok. 1 purchased movie has synced. I have a total of 4 movies. the one purchased movie is showing in the ATV devices section of itunes in the purchased and purchased on apple tv folder. it also appears in the movies folder on itunes. The other 3 movies do not show in the purchased folder or purchased on ATV in the ATV folder in itunes. They do appear on the ATV device however. I have read some posts indicate that movies cannot be synced from ATV to Itunes when purchased on ATV. I do not believe this to be true and because one movie is on itunes and ATV in itunes and I am able to sync back and forth with ATV through itunes. I have had a hardware change to my system with the Airport extreme but it is still letting me sync the one movie back and forth. It seems odd that the other movies are not showing up in my purchased folder in itunes.

  • Ipod will not update from library after transfer from one PC to another?!?

I recently transfered my itunes library from one PC to another using the ipod hard drive and according to the directions listed on this site. All went smooth and roughly 12GB of music transferred. After all music was successfully transfered to the library on the new PC I reconnected my ipod via USB hub and the dialog box popped up asking if I now want to associate my ipod with this new computer. I replied Yes.
As expected the program then deleted all 3000 songs off of my ipod and was supposed to then upload all the songs from my library (all songs were checked) back onto my ipod. For some reason all that happens is it says "update complete" and no songs transfer. I now have 3000+ songs in my library and ZERO on my ipod! I've checked all the default settings to be sure it is set to automatically update, all songs are checked and the box is checked to update checked songs, etc. I've shut down and restarted my PC and even tried several different USB hubs. Also, if relevant, when I connect my ipod the computer itunes recognizes it and it shows up on the itunes screen, but just for a few seconds. After it says it has successfully updated my ipod (I wish...) the little tab which shows "Chris' ipod" then disappears and itunes acts like it doesn't even know a device is connected.
I'm lost - I'd really appreciate any feedback anyone can provide. Thank you in advance!

In iTunes Preferences, did you update the iTunes Library to the new location? In other words, are you pointing to the correct location on the new harddrive for your iTunes Library?

  • ATV will not update

when i go to the update software line in general settings, it thinks for a while then informs me that my software is up to date, but it's not. in the about screen, it shows 4.1.1. what is that update? how in the the world am i supposed to update if it thinks it's up to date when it's not?

Try Restoring your Apple TV (2nd generation) to factory settings.
    Then re-try the update.

  • Iphoto 9.5 won't import photos from iPhoto 7.5.  Library will not update using the iPhoto library upgraded application.

iphoto 9.5 won't import photos from iPhoto 7.5.  Library will not update using the iPhoto library upgrader application.  Repeatedly says it can't locate photos even when told to cancel.  I think the photos in question are in Nikon RAW format.

iPhoto 9.5 immediately tries to "upgrade" my library using the upgrader.
iPhoto 9.5 asks you to run the upgrader to prepare the library for 9.5. It then will update the library to its format.
You need to do the following:
1 - go to your Applications/Utilities folder and double click on the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application.
2 - select Choose Library, navigate to your iPhoto library, select it and let the upgrader do its thing.
3 - launch iPhoto 9.5 to open and finish the conversion of the library.

  • HT2729 itouch 5 will not sync movies purchased from itunes that are in my itunes library.

My new itouch5 will not sync movies purchased from itunes thatsare saved in my itunes library.

    Mike, Hi
Thanks for yoursuggestions. I did see that article, tried correcting the permissions, looked at a few of the other things, but this doesn't make sense. This would only be the second computer that had these purchased songs on them. SO the 5 computer limit should have nothing to do with it.
The weird thing is how the computer tells me that it's not authorized to play the purchased songs and gives me the opportunity to put in either an AOL code or an Apple ID code to authorize this computer to play the song. I do it. I get a message that, congratulations, the computer has been successfully authorized to play the song. But then it simply does not play and when you try to play it it just recycles right back to the original message saying that the computer is not authorized.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Apple TV3 and TV2 will not update to 5.2

Same problem that seems to happen with every update. Brand new Apple TV is stuck at "Step One of Two." Same with old Apple TV 2. It will not update via wi-fi or ethernet cable. It will not update via iTunes. iTunes reports that the downloaded file is corrupted. Downloading the software at mirror sites and trying to use iTunes to update from the downloaded file also gives a report that the downloaded file is corrupted. Downloading 5.1.1 and attempting a restore from that file just hangs. I ran that all night with no progress.
Both Apple TVs display severe artifacts on the screen, including screen freezing while the sound continues -- even on completely downloaded movies. The movies are basically unwatchable.
Apple has been unable to fix these problems for years, now. I have an extensive iTunes movie library which is worthless because DRM prevents watching the movies using any other device. The way I see it, either give me an Apple TV that actually works or refund the money I spent on my iTunes movies.
Between this and the stupid MacBook Pro wi-fi problems I may never buy an Apple product again.

OK. I solved my issue.   Before changing your address on your Apple ID, you MUST be signed out of  iCloud and iTunes on your phone!  If your old email keeps reappearing on your phone  (and is grayed out), you'll have to go to your computer and change address back to the OLD  address.  Then, go back to phone and either (1) sign out or (2) remove the iCloud and/or iTunes apps which are opened  -  (which you'll be prompted to use old email address to verify). Finally, go back to computer and change email address back to the new one.      You'll then be able to set up apps on phone using the changed email address.
Ugh, it took a while, but it worked!

Mail application will not update new messages

If you have Webmail access you might check that, sometimes a malformed email can clog the system.
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...

  • I add songs to itunes, but ipod will not update!

I imported songs onto my itunes library. But when I plug it in the usb to update, it will automatically disconnect after 5 minutes, and the ipod will not update. I've tried adding all music, and just checked songs; both do not not work.
    I have version 7.0.0.7
I have about 50% of room left on my ipod.
    Any suggestions??

    Hello Rex225
The best way to resolve the issue is to remove the music from the iPhone and then download the purchase again using the steps in the following article.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
