ATV1 iTunes trouble after Lion installation

I recently installed a new hard drive in my MacPro tower. Immediately after installing OS X I upgraded to Lion. Everything works fine except iTunes and ATV1.
The ATV was rebooted. I entered the multi-digit code in iTunes and pairing was established with iTunes and its library.
Now when I click on Devices/Apple TV in iTunes there are only two category choices, "Settings" (which shows items such as hd capacity and serial number of the ATV) and "Photos". The other usual categories -- Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, etc. are missing in iTunes.
What happened to the other category choices? How do I restore them?
The ATV retained the last files that were sent to it. But there is no way to remove that content or have new content sent to it due to the iTunes issue.

It's extremely unlikely this has anything to do with your Lion install.
Nothing was paired after the new installation on a new hard drive. ATV wasn't even present in iTunes until it was paired.
That doesn't make any sense. Clearly your library is paired with the Apple TV or otherwise you wouldn't have the Apple TV in the iTunes devices list.
After changing your hard drive you have paired your iTunes library as a streaming (secondary) library instead of a syncing primary library, this is apparent by your description of the available tabs when you select your Apple TV from the device list in iTunes.
You now need to remove the pairing you made, you do this from the Apple TV by choosing computers from the settings menu and selecting your library. Once you have done this you can then pair your library properly by selecting computers from the settings menu and choosing the option to connect to iTunes, enter the passcode you are given in iTunes etc etc.

  • Camera Troubles after Lion installation...

hi everybody.. seems like the place to complain about lion... I have recently installed it on to my MacBook and have realised that the camera no longer works... e.g. PhotoBooth and FaceTime say that no camera is attached... it worked before I installed Lion...
I do not know if anyone else is having the same problem... Could anybody give me a suggestion?
From what it seems Apple rely on Apply users to help each other rather than to help us themselves...
or is there an support email they have...
    anyway... thanks

  • ITunes does not start after Lion installation

    hi,
after upgrading to the latest iTunes version and to Lion, I get "The file “iTunes Library.itl” cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would you like to download iTunes now?".
    Precise:
I upgraded iTunes to the latest version (from the previous one, I am a regular upgrader) yesterday afternoon around 15:00, then I worked several hours on my iTunes library (including some new buys). At night I then installed Lions. After starting Lions, iTunes does not start anymore.
I have read the threads about copying old library files from the "previous iTunes Libraries" folder. But if I do that, I will loose the entire afternoon work. Anyway it I cannot understand why iTunes now believes to be older after Lion installation than before...
    Can somebody please help?

    Hi,
after backing up, I downloaded the latest version again and it really worked.
Strange that evidently the Lion installation did revert yesterdays upgrade from iTunes. Now it works, including all my latest changes from yesterday.
    Case solved:)

mini calendar in mail missing after Lion installation

    >After installing Lion (intel I-Mac 2g ram). My Microsoft Office 2004 no longer runs.
Upgrade to a Universal compatible version of Office or equivalent.  http://www.neooffice.org/ is the least expensive alternative, though importing Entourage into iCal, Mac OS X Mail, and Addressbook works best if the data was exported from Entourage while still in Snow Leopard.
    >Also, when I select "printer friendly" pages in Safari or Firefox, I get a "missing plugin" message.
When you upgraded, did you make sure that Safari was installed in the Applications folder?  If not, you may have to redownload Safari from http://www.apple.com/safari/ as it happens to be the same version.  Firefox double check is already Lion compatible.  For more on upgrading to Lion, see my FAQ*:

  • Where do I find the Library in a Time Machine backup after Lion installation?

Where do I find the Library in a Time Machine backp after Lion installation?

You can access the backups of another computer by holding down the option key and selecting "Browse other Time Machine disks" from the Time Machine menu in the menu bar. As for getting to the Library folder, you would have to use something like the free application "Tinker Tool" (not "Tinker Tool System") to make hidden files visible in the Finder, then enter Time Machine.

  • Cant print document after lion installation with my fuji xerox printer

i cant print after lion installation with my fuji xerox c1110b printer, even after i remove and reinstall the driver.
in the print window  under status indicate error,
for other program even the print button is not working,  need help
    thanks

As a temporary fix until the new driver, you can still use Generic PCL Laser printer selection to print black and white on Fuji Xerox C1110B.  When adding the new driver, select Options & Supplies.  When the new window rolss down, click on the middle Driver button.  Then select Generic PCL Printer, and OK.
Maybe there is another substitute driver we can use to print in color as well until Fuji Xerox gets its act together?

Pararells desktop 5 can't open after Lion installation.  does pararells desktop 6  work with Lion?

Latest build (6.0.12094) works fine with Lion.  V4&5 do not work.  If you upgrade to V6 now you get a free upgrade to V7 (according to the Parallels site).  V7 is coming soon or now if you are a registered V6 user.

just installed Lion on my mid 2007 Imac and now can't get Itunes 10.6 to launch successfully, after repeated restarts.  I did a software update after Lion install and there was some Itunes data among other things.  Any ideas on remedying this? Thanks.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any – the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent one and post the contents – again, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

  • CS4 doesn't work after LION installation

After the Lion installation i had several problems.
One of these is that the cs4 doesn't work.
i open illustrator or photoshop and they crash every time. "photoshop not responding" "illustrator not responding" and so on..
I had to reinstall all the suite that now works.
    The question is... why??
I thought is is better to format the mac... should i do ?
    thanks

    Another problem is:
When I start the Dropbox Application, it uses nearly 90% of the CPU as well, so the mac heats up, in a way that it is not possible to use the dropbox application...
(The Icon of the VLC Media Player  only jumps up and down in the dock, and nothing else happens)

  • ...big trouble after leopard installation. Please help!

I have recently upgraded to Leopard from 10.4. After the installation everything seems normal, the computer boots as usual, I am able to log in and everything seems fine. The first thing I do is to connect my external hard drive [Formac disk 800 XTR] - 800 GB via firewire, because that's the place where my files are.
Then the following message comes up:
"The hard drive "xxx" could not be repaired by the computer. You only get limited access to it. You have to backup your data and reformat the hard drive as soon as possible."
What I notice now is that finder is not working. I can open most other programs and the dashboard but not do anything in them.. I pull out the hard drive and restart the computer, but it's still the same, finder is not working, you can open some programs, the dock and the dashboard are usable. I can't access any disks, which means that i can't reinstall leopard or revert to tiger.
Also, I have never had any trouble with that hard drive before, and just over five seconds it has to be repaired.. It was my secure backup...
I can't open it with my macbook either.
Any suggestions on what to do?
    My specs are
iMac G5 (Power PC) 2,0 GHz 2GB ram

Yep, meeting the minimum requirements will get you minimum performance. A machine that runs Tiger great may not be able to keep up with all the new code in Leopard.
CockTail is just another utility program that I keep around. I leave my computers running 24/7 so I don't need to worry about the daily/weekly/monthly maintenance scripts. They used to be called cron tasks, but are are being handled by launchd. They run very early in the morning and if the computer is not running, they may not run very often.
Cocktail can run them manually without you having to resort to terminal commands. It can also give you access to several other utility type settings like enabling journaling, deleting DS Store files, tweaking network transmission settings, showing hidden files, and many other settings that you can work with in Terminal if you want.
    Use it sparingly.

  • What is on my Mac Book's HD after Lion Installation

    Hi, all,

    Install.342xzxGUj   (opens up > ditto)

Re. folders 341 and 342 - are these part of the installation or installation leftovers? Do they serve any purpose? Opened up, little information is within. 2KB.
    Can/should they be deleted?
    Any helpful comments appreciated. Tks

BTW on my MBPro (late 2009 with max RAM) Mountain Lion runs very well with no slowing down.

  • MacBook Pro sometime won't shut down after Lion installation.

After installation of Lion my new MacBook Pro (early 2011) sometime won't shut down in the normal way and I have to shut it down using the power botton.

Make sure you quit out of all programs prior to shuting down if you have not done so.
Boot up from your install DVD and run "Repair Disk" from the Utility menu.

  • Error message "incorrect number of file hard links" after Lion installation. Please could you advised to solve this problem; my iMac (mid 2010) is working well

After installation of OSX Lion I have ran the disk utility program and the following error message appears: "incorrect number of file hard links". The program advises to fix the disk by reinstalling the Mac OSX install dvd (Snow Leopard). Please could you advise? Additonal information: the iMac was up-to-date before installing Lion. Thx!

From a Finder menubar, select Finder > Preferences, then either General (controls what appears on your desktop) or Sidebar (your Finder windows's sidebar) and check the box with your Computer's name, hard drive, etc.
I read to hold 'option' and press 'go'.
On Lion, that allows you to see the Library folder inside your home folder (it's only hidden in Lion).
I have found the right file and deleted it.  It keeps reintroducing itself so I guess I'll need to delete it from the trash as well?
No, you've deleted the one that may have been damaged.   As with most preferences files, OSX will create a new one, with default values, when needed, which is what we want.  (Sooner or later, you should empty the trash, but it's not a problem.)
As mentioned in #A4, you'll have to re-select your Time Machine drive, re-select any of the things that were checked on the Options panel, and re-enter any exclusions.
