ATV2 CANNOT REMEMBER WIFI !!! WIFI KEEP DROPPING

I am using the Dlink 655 Router and when connected for serval minutes the wifi dropped(The apple TV is not connected to the Internet)
Then it wont reconnect it again!!!
Sometimes when the ATV2 Standby and I wake up by remote, the Wifi wont automatically connect the Wifi!!! I HAVE TO SELETE MY WIFI NETWORK EVERYTIME AND KEY IN THE PASSWORD EACH TIME!!!!!
It is a really a big hassle!!! Please HELP!!!

Hello all, I have had my Apple tv 2g for about five weeks.
But problems from the off. Connection to my wifi network would come and go randomly, very annoying, and to top it off A TV would forget the wifi passkey. The same problem as other people.
I'd had enough so I phoned apple support and although they were trying to be helpful they went through the motions but the best they could offer was a system restore, which didn't work obviously.
During these five weeks had been digging around this forum and others and had tried various things like static ip's and a few other things but nothing worked.
I started thinking about my router, a Belkin about a year old, would have thought that would have been adequate but............ To cut along story short........
I've bought a new router a Netgear N600(wndr3400 in the US I think), and the important feature (at least I think) is that it is a Dual Band router and more importantly it broadcasts Dual Bands Simultaneously.
So effectively I have two networks running. One at 2.4ghz and one at 5ghz.
It appears that A TV really likes 5ghz ( more suited to multimedia streaming and the like) because the difference is a world apart or more to the point, it works exactly as it should.
It's a costly fix, but after all the hassle, I'm happy.

    A few suggestions:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.

In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.
Also, run the Airport Utility app which is located inside the Utilities folder.

  • Wifi keeps dropping out on MacBook Pro after installing Yosemite

Wifi keeps dropping out on MacBook Pro after installing Yosemite. This is not good.  Apparently, a lot of people are having this issue with Yosemite.  Any suggestions for my MacBook Pro?  It's bad enough that Yosemite looks so boring, but to have a major issue like constantly disconnecting from wifi is deplorable.
I plan to keep Mavericks on my iMac until this issue is resolved.

  • HT1349 iphone 4S - my wifi keeps dropping or it comes up with a message "unable to connect"

iphone 4S - my wifi keeps dropping or it comes up with a message "unable to connect"

    1. Did this just start randomly, or have you ever been able to connect to this network?
    2. Does this phone connect to other wifi networks?
    3. What is the strenght of the wifi connection when you are close to the router (1-3 bars)?
Try to isolate and see if this is just an issue with just this network. If so, and you have access to the settings on the router, I would test out with no security or a different chanel. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199 gives all of the recomended settings for wifi networks so that the phone should work optimally with that network
If you are having this same issue with all wifi networks and have gone through a full restore of the phone to new, then you likely have a hardware issue with your phone and may need to look at repair/replacement to resolve this.

  • [Solved] MSI GE40 2PC wifi keeps dropping

Recently got the GE40 2PC (not 20PC, people tend to confuse them). Wifi keeps dropping every 5-25 min. Is there a i=fix for this? I already checked wifi drivers and its said I'm already using the most recent drivers. Somehow I'm worried it may have something to do with the wifi temperature. I read that if the wifi gets overheated itll stop and the 2PC can get quite hot sometimes. I havent had a chance to try another wifi network yet.

What did you use to check the driver?
You should find the latest driver from MSI webiste under GE40 2PC page.

  • 2011 iMac running 10.8.4 Lion - WiFi keeps dropping out - Please help!

Ever since I upgraded from 10.8.3 to 10.8.4, my iMac wireless internet connection keeps dropping off - I have to keep turning Wifi off and on again to establish the connection. It is not a problem with the modem or the internet as we have 4 different devices and none of them have this issue. I would say it happens every 5-10 minutes - VERY annoying!
If anyone has any tips on how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    MRaja

Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. Continue if you find that Wi-Fi is faster with Bluetooth disabled.
From that same menu, select Open Bluetooth Preferences. If the box labeled Discoverable is checked, uncheck it. Click the Advanced button, and in the sheet that opens, uncheck the top three boxes, if any are checked. Click OK. Enable Bluetooth and test again.
If the application called "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" is running, quit it.
    Step 4
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 5

  • MBP Pro wifi keeps dropping

The wifi on my MBP Pro Retina (Mid 2012) - (16GB, 2.6GHz i7) keeps dropping.  I have to disable and enable the wifi and it continues to work for a while.  The latest OSx patch 10.10.1 helped for a while but the problem is back and it is even more frequent.
I have been following this online and have tried many ideas suggested online and none seems to work.
    Thank you in advance...
PS. I use a apple bluetooth keyboard and mouse and have multiple screens connected to the laptop (i.e. the laptop much more like a desktop) and all patches through AppStore are installed.

    Try following
Goto System settings network -->  options --> WLAN/Wifi --> change your Wifi to top
Find out which DNS is best for your Wifi by installing and running namebench (Link: https://code.google.com/p/namebench/)
Change your WiFi DNS to that result (Goto System settings network -->  options --> DNS --> DNS-Server)
Last (wait to) install OS X 10.10.2! I'm using the beta and that fixes the issues on my old router.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Wifi keeps dropping out after 9months without problems

At Christmas I bought my lady an Ipad(retina with wifi) sometime after that I noticed my 9month old iphone4s was not connecting to wifi, i thought it may be a DHCP problem on the EDIMAX wifi router which is setup to run WEP, I have tried the following roughly in this order. All with varying degrees of temporary success!
1 toggle wifi in iphone settings
    2 toggle airplane mode,
    3 Reboot iphone,
    4 Reboot router,
5 Factory reset router - no password no encryption,
6 restore via tunes from december 2012 backup
7 restore via itunes from march 2012 backup
8 general reset and restore from march 2012 backup
9 as above but reset all settings via phone
10 Reset network settings in iphone
my wifi constantly drops out, sometimes the wifi toggle switch has greyed out requiring iphone reboot, sometimes even that hasnt worked and requires that the ihone has been restored.
I am now at a loss as to what has happened, is it hardware or software? I bought the phone from Tesco but am i correct that I can take it into any apple store for help?
    TIA

Genius bar told me that the greyed out wifi toggle apparently is an indication the there is a hardware fault!
As you know if you followed the thread, I was able to recover for a very short time by restoring the operating system, but within 30mins the connection was being dropped. toggling the wifi on and off by either "forgetting network" settings or resetting iphone, or using the "aircraft mode" almost always results in a wifi toggle switch being greyed out! I don't know but it is possible that the errors are being tallied internally and on reaching a preset quota inform the user that there is an issue, This in my case takes the form of the wifi being greyed out!
The phone was just in warranty and apple replaced it free of charge, It had a month to run but the phone comes with a 90 day warranty. It was fully backed up so no real problem other than the 100mile round trip to the apple store.

  • Macbook air wifi keeps dropping after sleep

This is driving me crazy. I have tried so many fixes but nothing has worked. Every time I hibernate / sleep my 2012 macbook air, the wifi drops and takes at least 20 minutes to come back on when I open the laptop again.
I can reboot, turn the wifi off and on, change preferences...everything. Nothing works. From reading around I am assuming this is a Maverick problem since lots of people seem to be complaining about the same thing, but has anyone found something to remedy it?
    Thanks x

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
    3. Reset the PRAM.
    4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    9. Reset the System Management Controller.
    10. This step shouldn't be necessary, but has been advised by Apple Support in some cases, apparently as a workaround for a bug. Open the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences. If applicable, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner to unlock the settings. Enter your administrator login password when prompted.
Select the Power Adapter tab and uncheck the boxes marked
    Wake for Wi-Fi network access
    and
    Enable Power Nap...
if present. Then, if the computer is a MacBook, select the Battery tab and uncheck
    Enable Power Nap...
    11. Reinstall OS X.
