ATV2 connected to older TV issue.

I connected ATV2 to a Sony model KF-50WE610 LCD TV via HDMI to DVI cable. Video is present and clear but screen flickers on and off every 1-2 seconds. Any viable fixes? I just updated ATV2 software to no avail. I have read many posts about similar-sounding problems but they all seem to date to 2010-11, which suggests that maybe a fix came out?  Can anyone update me on the status of my problem? I have a hard time believing my fairly simple plan cannot work.   The TV is HDCP compliant, has a DVI-D in that my cable fits in perfectly, supports 480, 720 and 1080. It's about 10 years old but hasn't been used much, works great, nice picture, etc. No reason to get a new one, and especially not just make this $100 box work!

Thank you vazandrew and I understand all that. There are threads from 3-4 years ago, some even mentioning my exact TV, where people were having troubles with this same issue. I never saw anything conclusive come out of any of them and am just asking whether anyone came up with anything that worked for them.  I am asking in the hopes that a few people might say, "oh yeah, that issue. We all did this or that and it has been working ever since". I understand that any such replies may not work for me but I really have nothing else to go on right now.  Worth a shot.  Thanks.

Look this article over, the key is to connect either mini display port or thunderbolt and using CMD+F2, let me know if this helps or if it doesn't work out. I'll find another solution if this doesn't work Joel ^_^

    According to:
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/p/19351107/19767627.a spx#19767627
It has DVI ports.  This means you are best to use an adapter that supports DVI.  Note there is no audio that carries over DVI.  What you need is a mini-Displayport to DVI adapter, and the proper DVI cable. Since Dell doesn't have the specs, you'll need to tell us if you have pins or holes, and how many are grouped.

  • Is this a dropping connection or a wireless issue....

    Hi all,
We've been having some problems with our Infinity setup for a few months now and it's getting a bit annoying, I could use some help in fixing it
So, every evening (could be daytime too, we dont use it then really) our connection seems to drop every 10 mins or so. If I'm gaming, it will drop me out of a game and I'll have to reconnect. I can usually reconnect in seconds. If we're watching Netfilx, it will stop, and restart a few minutes later...
Oddly, the blue Hub lights (HH3 I believe) never falter, solid blue throughout.
Restarting the router (and white box thingy) works pretty much everytime - and only occasionally are we disconnected for more than a few minutes.
The setup is Infinity 2 I think, into the master socket. I'm running a handful of Apple devices, a home server, a Mac and a PS3. Probably important that none of these devices have changed at all location, spec or otherwise.
Occasionally my server cannot be found on the network either, despite it running continuously - a restart usually cures this but would it point to a dodgy router? (it's a wired connection,so no wireless issue)
I'm guessing I need to run some tests but not sure what?
I did try and call BT Support a while ago, but the chap said he couldn't help me because my Mac Air has no ethernet cable, just wireless

seems to me like a faulty router or modem mate, to make sure its not actually dropping fully you will want to login to the router page using 192.168.1.254 then going to troubleshooting and then helpdesk and it will tell you the uptime. login with the password which should be on the back of your router. do this when the wireless next drops. btw dont keep resetting the white modem, it will cause your speeds to drop as it will think its a line fault, just reset the homehub. if the uptime is less then 2 mins then its dropping fully, if its more than than lets say 1 hour for example (and you reset it one hour ago before the wireless dropped) then its most likely just the router being faulty.

  • Outlook connectivity and mail flow issue on Exchange 2010 3 node DAG

    Hi,
I have 3 node DAG, 2 (NODE A, NODE B) in Production site and 1(NODE C) in DR site. but just 1 AD Site.
when I have the active databases on NODE B, everything works fine. no issues to report.
but when I move the databases on NODE A, outlook gets connected with trying to update folders. Furhter, emails will be in outbox and no new emails will be delivered to the users. After an hour or so emails get delivered from outbox.
Even after supplying the credentials OWA doesnt login. just tries to load.
No issues when I move the servcies on NODE C.
ANy idea what could be the issue?
    Thanks,
    Vinod

    Hi Vinod,
According to your description, there is one-hour delay in the process of sending and receiving emails.
To check if it’s caused by Autodiscover service, we can use the tool Test Email AutoConfiguration:
    1. Hold CTRL and Click the outlook Icon in the system tray and select “Test Email Auto Configuration”.
    2. Deselect the “Use Guessmart” and “Secure Guessmart Authentication” and click Test.
    3. Check SCP value returned
For more information, please refer to the following article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchdxb/archive/2012/05/10/troublshooting-autodiscover-exchange-2007-2010.aspx
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2663435
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/262052
If connectivity is well, the issue is mostly likely caused by the Exchange mail submission service.
We can check if the service work properly. And the issue may be not related to the Hardware Load Balancer. Because the emails are stuck in the client side.
    Thanks,

So, about a week ago my macbook pro started having lots of issues: wifi connectivity, slow performance, sound issues, spotlight wasn't working. After going through the issues with apple support, they decided the best course of action was to erase the hard drive and do a reinstall. Since I have a recent backup this seemed like a good enough option. They were kind enough to send me a copy of the snow leopard disk to do the install since we couldn't get it to complete through the disk utility. Not sure why, since it says we are fully connected, it just never completed.
Anyway, so now that you have the background here is the new issue. The macbook pro keeps spitting out the disk I'm trying to install from. Disk utility and using the 'Startup Disk' function from the apple menu doesn't read the disk.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this vexing problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Jeremy.Laurin,
have you tried agb76’s approach here?

  • Wanting to connect an older G4 Powerbook running OS 10.4.11 to a Marantz SR4023 receiver amplifier with only RCA inputs to play iTunes through it on stereo speakers. Can anyone advise how to do this?

Wanting to connect an older G4 Powerbook running OS 10.4.11 to a Marantz SR4023 receiver amplifier with only RCA inputs to play iTunes through it on stereo speakers. Can anyone advise how to do this? Not tech savvy at all here, and will be happy with a simple hard wired connection.  The Powerbook is old, and I no longer want to use it for anything but connecting iTunes radio, and my iTunes library to my stereo system.

    Hi,
There were many PowerBook G4 models (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3065) with different ports (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2369).
If necessary, a manual can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#PowerBook%20G4
Generally speaking, the output of a headphone port can often be used for the connection to an amplifier. You would need an appropriate cable (typically, 3.5 mm stereo plug to two RCA plugs). Choose a suitable amplifier input (high level). Do verify the allowed amplifier input voltage levels and the impedance before you connect.

I am trying use the demo of publisher and subscriber at the following location:

scroll down and see subscriber and publisher
I have also tried the sample screensharing on different domain, I have the exact same issue so it is not the LCCS itself but the connectnow add-in issue.
I get the connect now pop-up on my desktop but I can not use it. Supposedly this is where I can select what I want to share-desktop or application. But this window doesn't open when I click on it. It just sits there in the bottom toolbar.
I am using windows 7, premium, x64. I tried in firefox, chrome and IE. Same issue.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling connect now but same issue.
I posted this thread in "ConnectNow Add" forum also about a week ago. But I haven't received any reply

    Hi Charles,
I wanted to point you to a thread I started last week, I think we are having the same issue. Can you confirm?

  • HT200158 Connecting to older SMB servers from Mountain Lion

Lion had depreacated support to older SMB servers. I get following error on trying to do that:

Found a way for preXP Samba sharing to work.
Download & Install Oracle's Virtual Box.
Setup a Windows XP virtual machine.
(select the appropriate network and sharing settings)
Install Windows XP SP3 onto the virtual machine (you'll need a valid licence key).
    And that's it.
I run a virtual box version of Windows XP on Mavericks every time I want to connect to an older Samba share.
    It just works.
I have my Mac OS hard drive setup to be shared with the virtual Windows XP machine, so I can drag and drop anything from the Samba share to my Mac hard drive and vice versa, within the emulated windows environment.
I would have loved to run a virtual Snow Leopard instead of Windows XP, but couldn't get it booting correctly, =S. So went with XP instead. Simple, =).
