.au audio files in e-mail attachments play too fast

How can I get .au audio file attachments in e-mails to play at normal speed? For some reason they play so fast that I can't understand what the person speaking is saying. It's very frustrating.

The mail app will only recognize what it is programmed to recognize. There are many files that work on desktop computers that don't play on the iPhone. Some of apples own office docs will not open on the iPhone while MS office docs will.
Apple does not list all files the iPhone does support, but the audio support does not include GSM. If the phone doesn't know how to decode it, the Mail app can't play it either.
From Apple iPhone tech specs:
Audio formats supported: AAC, Protected AAC, MP3, MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV

I’ve found it usually works best with web mail via Adobe after obtaining verification. I know some email services block bulk email completely and I’ve only tested it with Gmail which works fine. Should also work with other web mail e.g. Yahoo and Hotmail. Give it a try. Before you start it will help to check your internet security settings. If they are set to High, reduce the settings to Medium temporarily. Then follow these instructions.
    1. Log in to your mail provider on the web and add the following email to your address/contacts book.
    [email protected]
    2. Open Organizer and on the menu click:
    Edit >> Preferences >> Sharing
    3. Choose Adobe Email Service from the client dropdown menu.
    4. Add your name and email address to the fields provided and click OK
    5. Test the system (first use only)  by selecting a photo in organizer and choosing Share >> Photo Mail then click Next (Mac users should use attachments)
    6. Choose a contact then click  Next
    7. Click Next Step, then click Next - the sender verification dialog will open.
    8. Check you have spelt your email address correctly and hit the Resend E-Mail button.
    9. Go to your inbox (also check spam) and when the Adobe mailer message is received copy (Ctrl+C) the long verification code.
    10. Return to the verification dialog and paste it (Ctrl+V) into the Sender verification field and click OK. Wait for validation confirmation then click OK to continue

  • Music/audio plays too fast

using a new laptop (this compaq) and installed itunes. All music/audio, whether from a CD, or itunes or the audio from a website, plays too fast. I've tried lots of things -found a page in the support section (tried all except the driver thing) -- ANY THOUGHTS?? THis is driving me crazy and can't do anything w/ my ipod except listen to what's already on there!

You may want to check your soundcard output in QuickTime. See this post for directions on the process: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa;jsessionid=aXxb7IZbMDPmI_4E?messageID=814726&ft=y&#814726
And this Article: iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Songs and other audio don't play correctly
And before you do any of the above, make sure that you have all the recent Windows Updates from windowsupdate.com. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your particular sound card, and make sure you have the latest DirectX installed. Any of these could also cause this problem without QuickTime being the culprit.

  • Audio book plays too fast on the ipad - how do i fix it?

audio book plays too fast on the ipad - how do i fix it?

While I don't listen to audiobooks on myh iPad, the following might apply in your case:
When you navigate to the player controls in the iPod app, in older OS's, and perhaps still in the Music app in iOS 5, you will see a variable speed control on the right hand side of the scrubber bar. Sequential taps on that change the speeds.
This does appear in spoken content only, I think, as I see it in podcasts all the time. It's not there for video or music content, so I'd expect it to appear for Audiobooks as well.

how do you play it on the car stereo?
because if it's using the 3.5mm headset connector or even the analog out from the pin30 then it's
100% the same sound output from the phone as it provide a headset

How can I fix corrupted audiobooks category--plays too fast and is gravelly? Other music categories are unaffected..

On the audio book (and podcast) playing screen there is a playback speed selector. It is the box on the right hand side of the screen right below the scrubber bar. It say either 1/2X, 1X or 2X, the playback speeds. Tap the box to cycle through the playback speeds.

  • Bounced tracks play too fast in iTunes

This is a continuation of an old thread that was never resolved:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=853393
Basically, nothing has changed. I can bounce my tracks from Logic, and they play fine everywhere except iTunes, where they play too fast. I can play them on my iPod in the car and everything works at normal speed.
All my iTunes tracks (including the ones bounced from Logic) share the following characteristics:
    192 kbps
    44.1 kHz
    Profile: Low Complexity
However, the Logic tracks play fast, whereas everything else plays normally.
    I have a standard G5 sound card, not a 3rd party one.
I'm about to conclude that this is a standard limitation with Logic, that tracks created there cannot be listened to at regular speed in iTunes. Is that a known issue? Is this limitation by design?

Sorry for the slow reply. Yes, that is the problem I'm having, and it's so weird, I thought maybe there was some wacky glitch in the program. Logic is not without its bizarre idiosyncrasies, as you've probably noticed yourself.
Check this out for bizarre: I've bounced these tunes down to my iPod, where I can listen to them over headphones, in my car, etc, with the tracks playing at the right speed. However, if I plug that same ipod into my home stereo in the living room (where the laptop is also plugged in), and play those same tracks, they play too fast. I know, it doesn't make sense. But I'm not imagining it. It's completely crazy.
In Audio Midi Setup my audio output is set for 44.1khz.
Anyhow, the problem is less consistent these days. That is, sometimes I can bounce a track down and it plays right. Othertimes, not. I still haven't found the common denominator to this problem, but if I discover anything, I'll post it here.

  • FLV inserted to page no probs but plays too fast!

I've used the Insert Flash Video feature on dreamweaver 8 to
add a video clip to one of my family web pages
    www.nzgreens.me.uk/house
It has up loaded and plays, but is far too fast.
We've moved to New Zealand and it's for our family and
friends in the UK to view. Please please please can someone tell me
why it would be playing too fast?

I think you should give it ago, the Flash Encoder is straight

  • Videos play too fast on ipad - sounds like super high speed mini mouse

We just bought the ipad and when we play videos on vimeo or youtube they play at an ultra high speed like the fps is messed up - it sounds like a record being played too fast
Is this our ipad or a setting - we are worried because we do not see the problem listed anywhere else.
    Thanks!

Have your rebooted/restarted your iPad? you do that by pressing the Home and power/sleep button at the same time until the slider to power off the iPad appears. Slide the slider and when screen activity stops depress the two buttons again until the Apple logo appears. When the iPad completes rebooting try again to see if that solved your problem.

  • My podcasts play too fast in my iphone

I did not had a problem before but now with the same podcasts I use to listen to they play too fast. You can still understand them but it is not pleasant at all. Does anyone has the same problem and was able to solve it?

It's likely you accidentally touched the button that speeds up playback to 1.5x.

Word is getting around on the internet that Apple has basically stopped monitoring and moderating these forums. Expect to see this sort of thing increasing. If Apple isn't going to keep a lid on trolling like this then they had better just shut the forums down. It won't take long for these forums to be totally overrun by Mac bashers, trolls, and Windows fanboys. There's something about the Mac that scares them and makes them feel insecure.

  • Sending audio file using Mac Mail

What would be the best way to send a short audio clip using Mac Mail to recipients who all have PC's?

All I know is sometimes I receive documents, audio or video clips from friends who have PC's and they can't be played or opened up on my Mac because I don't have the proper applications to open them.
I would assume the reverse could also happen depending on the program that created them.
As an example: What if I send an audio clip taken from my iTunes Library and the person who receives it doesn't have iTunes and the only other program they have is Windows Media Player. Will they be able to open this file up?
    Thanks.
