AU3 crashing as it opens
I have Audition 1.5 and have just purchased the upgrade to 3.0 but when I install it and try to open v3.o I get the splash screen and then a screen telling me I have to close Audition to save my work and then an error message that is always slightly different but runs like this:
e84:audition.exe error
The instruction at 0x07a010e3 referenced memory at 0x00000018 the memory could not be read
v1.5 still opens and works a treat but v3.0 seems to be a no-go area - can anyone give me any clues as to what may be wrong? I have tried uninstall, etc.
Thanks in advance

Do you have a spare harddisk! if so: use it for a fresh windows xp install
and try installing audition on that, the default recommendation is to have
multiple physical disks anyway and it would be nice to be able to narrow the
field of possibilities somewhat.

Firefox constantly crashes when it opens and when tabs are changed.
Ever since 4/19 of this year, Firefox has been randomly crashing when I open it, and after restarting it will crash randomly during sessions, generally when switching tabs I've noticed (though not always).
Here is the most recent crash report in full:

Any help would be appreciated. One of the bug reports linked to your crashes says the HTTPS Everywhere extension could be a contributing factor. Would you try disabling it for 48 hours and see whether that makes any difference?
You can do that on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
Some of these crashes are related to the "Just in Time" (JIT) JavaScript compiler(s). You could try disabling some of those features to see whether that helps. Alternately, you could run Firefox in its Safe Mode for a period of time since that disables them automatically (but in that case, extensions also are disabled).
''To disable individual preferences:''
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''javas''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the following preferences to switch them to "false":
* javascript.options.baselinejit.chrome (Firefox UI)
* javascript.options.baselinejit.content (page content)
* javascript.options.ion.content (page content)
There might be other relevant items but we're a little out of my depth here.
''If you prefer to test using Firefox's Safe Mode:''
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled ''(Flash and other plugins still run)''
In the small dialog that should appear after Firefox exits, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset) -
Photoshop CS4 Crashes on File-Open
After using Photoshop CS4 for 9 months, I now get an instant crash whenever I open an image with File-Open. I see the image I wanted to open for a few seconds at the back of the error message (1st screenshot, below) and then it disappears - on clicking OK on the first error message, I get a second error message (2nd screenshot, below). I upgraded to version 11.0.1 - no difference. I have completely uninstalled all plug-ins - no difference. I have completely uninstalled and then reinstalled Photoshop to version 11.0 - no difference. I have upgraded a clean install to version 11.0.2 - no difference. I have deleted the prefs file - no difference. I deleted a set of new fonts I had installed after reading a thread on this forum - no difference. Occasionally, I CAN open a file from Windows Explorer with the right-click menu Open With... Adobe Photoshop CS4 then, after doing that, FIle Open does not cause a crash for opening one file, sometimes 2 but then I get the crashes again until the next time I run Photoshop but it seems random as to when it will open a file or not.
I am now considering uninstalling all Adobe products, manually clearing out the registry and then trying another install but all this is taking time I don't have.
Does anyone have any other suggestions I could try. I am getting desperate!
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.Memory address issues can be tough to track down. Often, they will occur when a program either mis-reports the memory addresses used, or tells the OS that it has released them, when it has not.
Though written with video editing in mind, there still might be some tips for setting up your computer, in this ARTICLE. If you have Win7, please look down-thread for Black Viper's tuning page.
Now, Adobe programs have always been great at reporting their memory usage, but it could still happen - I've just never encountered it over the decades.
Good luck,
Hunt -
My Facebook App crashes everytime I open it on my IPAD 2. How do you fix that?
I have reset my IPad 2 several times. Reloaded the most current IOS for the IPAD and Facebook. Facebook still crashes everytime I open it. I had the same problem on my Iphone 4 but reverted to the previous Facebook version and it works. I tried that on my Ipad but it doesn't work. Any one know how to fix this? Facebook won't respond at all when I submit the problem to them.
Here's a few things I try when an app misbehaves and crashes.
1. Quit the app and restart it like this: Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it work like normal.
2. If the first suggestion did not work try quitting the app again but instead of restarting it right away, reset your device like this: Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. Ten restart the app and see if it works.
3. If neither of the previous suggestions worked I suggest deleting the app by tapping and holding on the app until it jiggles and displays a Rex X. Tap the X and confirm that you want to delete the app. Then reset your device. After the device has restarted go to the App Store and download Facebook again.
If all these fail you might just have to search for an alternative app until Facebook fixes the problem. -

IPhoto Crashes everytime I open it
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me out here?
iPhoto '11 (Latest update) keeps on crashing everytime I open the program, so I have to force quit it. This issue arose a few weeks ago even before any Apple iLife updates.
I initially thought the crashing issue was related to the MobileMe and Facebook syncing part of iLife, because when it crashes as soon as I open iPhoto and I disconnect my MBP from any network connection (wired or wireless) iPhoto started up ok. When I discovered this I deleted ALL sharing connections in iPhoto so that it shouldn't need to access any of my online profiles (MobileMe, Facebook etc) apart from the location/maps part of iPhoto. This hasn't fixed the issue.
I have done a complete reinstall, updated iPhoto to the latest release and started my iPhoto library database again from scratch. I added some photos from my gig last night and it is the only album in my iPhoto library. Now everytime I start up iPhoto it's crashing again everytime, and the only way I can get it to start is to 'repair and rebuild' the iPhoto database EVERYTIME to get it to work. This takes the biscuit considering that my iPhoto library is brand new and only has 62 photos in it.....
I've also tried other things such as repairing disk permissions, and database permissions when I open iPhoto.
I don't know what else to to do now, it's really disappionting becasue I can't share my photos and I can't even extract then from the iPhoto database. Whats going on Apple??
I refuse to reinstall OSX because it was only reinstalled and updated in the last 7 days.....
Does anyone have any light they could shine on this issue or is anyone else suffering from this fustrating problem?
Thanks guys,
ConnorLooks like i have a similar problem to this except I am running OSX10.7.4 and it was working up until I had the latest software update. Still awaiting a reply to my question. This is my second try at this forum. Hopefully I will have more success the second time around.

Every time since I download IOS6 my app store, whatsapp, safari crashes everytime I open it. What should I do?
Basic troubleshooting steps (restart, reset, restore) are clearly outlined in the iPhone User Guide that is bookmarked in your Safari app.

Adobe Bridge crashes when i open a Lacie external hard rive. Started when i uploaded Yosemite?
Finder crashes occur both on my MacBook Pro (4,1) and MacBook Air (2,1). There is very little in common between the hardware of the two systems except the Santa Rosa processor. One has HDD and the other SSD. One has 6GB in DDR2 memory in two dimms and one 2GB DDR3 soldered. One has an 8600M and one a 9400. One starts a bunch of apps at login and one starts nothing. And so on. Since it happens on different kinds of systems, it's definitely not a hardware problem with certain specific hardware. And I'm pretty sure I saw a report from someone with a MacPro.
I've looked at a lot of finder crash logs. A number of them seem to happen when something (memory or an object) is being freed and an error occurs. This causes an abort and the finder is killed and restarts. Not exactly a "crash". More like controlled flight into the ground. The other cases are probably not catching the error and getting seg faults, so those actually are crashes. Unfortunately, the place this happens seems to be different every time but usually related to finder or AppKit.
I suspect a memory corruption bug somewhere. I've pushed my system by opening and closing
folders, scrolling up and down, and opening and closing subfolders, and once the problem happens, it is usually reproducible for a few minutes (or a few repeats of the action that caused the crash).
Then it will often "magically" start working or a slight variation of behavior, e.g., opening a folder directly vs. using a finder window sidebar alias (or vice-versa) will work. -
Bridge CS6 Crashes on every open

4 MultiProcessor SupportNot sure how to install as a different user (meaning install Adobe Creative Suite as a different user?)
What Curt means is that you create a new user account (system preferences/ users) just to see if Bridge runs from this account.
By default your applications should be installed on root level and you work in your user (home) account. Several users can be set up on one machine, while each users has its own user library they can all make use of the central application folder on root level.
Just to test and rule out the possibility your current user account is to blame for this.
I did uninstall both photoshop and illustrator twice before reinstlling. I have cleaned/optimized with MacScan and CCLeaner.
Uninstall using official uninstaller with deactivating and removing preferences?
Reinstall an application is no guarantee for overwriting older problem settings, to be sure you have to use the Adobe Cleaner Tool.
And as Curt already stated, using third party apps and anti virus on a Mac is not always a success, sometimes files that you need for an application might get lost.
I never have had the need of a virus scan on a Mac in all 20 years, yet I tried some and ended always up in trouble.
CCleaner is original designed for Windows, would be a no go for me alone for that reason, both systems are not really comparable regarding maintenance and security
When you let an application decide to automatically get rid of unused files you certainly can run in to trouble. If you keep to a proper back up system and time machine, combined with common sense in handling spooky email and websites you don't need a virus scan for the Mac, they all promise a lot but still get much difference in rating and reviews.
Use a combo update for the MacOsX same version (in your case 10.7.xx) and when upgrading to a new version (would be 10.8) in your case I would bite the bullet, make a back up of all import files and a copy of this for extra security.
Be sure to have all serial numbers etc as well as as custom settings for actions, tools, keywords (from your user library / Application support folder/ Adobe you will find most of those custom settings stored) also backed up (the user library is hidden by default per OSX7, use menu go with option to reveal, when in doubt just copy the content of the whole user library to an external disk in a back up folder that is not named 'library' but an other custom name you can always find lost settings back if needed, for instance, your mail account from Apple mail stores all mail in the user library).
And of course, be sure to have all folders in your user account (music, documents etc) included in the back up.
And then start from scratch with a newly formatted disk, installing system and then applications. It takes some time and effort but you end up with a brand new system with all default settings, leaving out all messy settings and files from prior systems and applications.
If you must then use the option to only copy settings from time machine or other Mac but don't copy your application folder and files on install, just take some time and make a real start from scratch. -
Photoshop crashing when I open jpeg or create new
I recently upgraded my Capture One software to v.4 (which included the installation of microsoft .net framework. Now Photoshop crashes when I open a jpeg file or create a new.
I did notice that when it opens the Initializing Type Tool progress bar doesn't show up and I just noticed on the blue start up window something called "Building TWAIN" - I had read in a previous thread about a TWAIN plug in attaching itself to photoshop. Could that be my problem?
How do I find that file?nicolebelhum wrote:

How do I find that file?
It's in the plug-in folder!
Since you failed to mention either your OS or PS versions I can't be more specific. -
Photoshop CS4 crashes using File | Open
Hoping someone can help me here. Photoshop always crashes when using the File | Open dialog box. I can navigate to a photo in the dialog box but when I click Open it immediately crashes. I can open a file through the Finder by clicking Open With then selecting Photoshop and it works fine. Any ideas? Here's a snippet of the crash report:

As a side note - You are using Snow Leopard. Unfortunately it does seem to crash sometimes when Opening and Saving files. There is also a long pause when saving files, which I notice. This happens on large files.
I am in the same position having just started a long freelance job on a new mac with Snow Leopard pre-installed. On an extremely production heavy job with many saves on large files and incredibly tight deadlines, its possible I will lose a lot of work. I have noticed some improvement maybe, since upgrading to 10.6.3?
Personally I may try to wipe the drive and install Leopard, but I am not sure if this is possible. -

I had the identical situation. Windows 7 64 bit and Suitcase Fusion 2. The 32 bit Photoshop would launch without error but the 64 bit would crash if I clicked on the type tool or the type tool was the last tool that had been selected previously.

It was in fact a conflict with Suitcase Fusion 2 or a corrupt font. What I did to resolve it was delete all the fonts from Suitcase using the following method.
#Deleting Fonts from a Library
Removing a font from one library does not remove it from all libraries. If you have the same font in another library, it will remain until removed.
To delete fonts from a library:
Launch Suitcase Fusion and select a library.
Select the fonts, families, or sets you want to delete.
Choose Edit > Delete Font(s), or press Delete.
When the alert asks you to confirm the deletion, click Remove.
I then used Font Doctor (included with Suitcase) to examine my master font library, located on my harddrive, to ensure there were no corrupt fonts.
I changed the preference in Suitcase to add the fonts leaving them in place. I am not certain that this has any impact on the outcome but I am old school and like to manage my fonts from the harddrive.
Finally, I added 1 set at a time to Suitcase, activated it, opened 64 bit Photoshop and selected the type tool. If the program did not crash, I repeated this step until all sets were added.
I ran into the exact same problem while opening Adobe Photoshop CS4 64-bit on my Windows7 machine.
I presumed Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2 were the culprit. Alas, removing the fonts from Suitcase did not solve my problem.
Instead, i proceeded to this folder:
1. C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings
2. Deleted the file Adobe Photoshop X64 CS4 Prefs.psp
3. Re-opened Photoshop CS4 64-bit and success. Problem solved.
Ignore the above. This only solved opening photoshop. The application still crashes when I open the text tool.
